I think it's time everyone, including reviewers, all of them, to stop talking about the badge, period! It's really turning into an old bit to do this, this company is and has been kicking ass and taking names, now they're getting into perf models and hiring away big names to make them a success....wake the F up everyone🏁🏁

I love the fact that its a Hyundai. Different. The fastback stands out a little bit more. I Took off the badges too. (N's)
People geuninly shocked then. The way it sounds or goes. And must love the faces when similar powered cars drivers dont know your model and trying to teach u a lesson then they get one. Obviously german hot hatches like A class s3 or m140i washes the floor with that but one tier down u are good to go :)

Great video as always. We’ve had Hyundai’s in the family for a while and over the years the fit and finish has improved greatly not to mention the driving experience. I’m in an Astra 1.4 Turbo Elite 6 speed Auto (150bhp) on motability, which I am due to change next year. I will definitely test drive the i30 in one form or another before choosing my next car.

My daughter has just bought a pre-reg one from the dealership she works at. It's the 1.0 turbo but even that feels like it goes like stink for what it is. The trim level is brilliant too - everything electric, lane assist, blindspot assist, wireless charging, dual zone climate control - everything you could want (although the next model up does have a panoramic sunroof which would brighten the interior up a bit, but other than that...) and the build quality is really good, too. I would go for one of these myself.

Omg, ya nailed the Merc kiss, as ya know. It’s very crisp compared to recent models. Colour and wheels make such a huuuuuuge level of difference to various marques across the ranges. A White Audi A6 can work, against a White Ssang Yong, (Musso) can look Panties. How colour can suit various marque models is beyond me! A White Range Rover can look better than a White Evoque. I know ya get me on this.

Nice looking (and sounding) car Pete. The plastics and materials look below that of other more premium brands, but that is to be expected and is reflective of its price point. I guess it depends on what is more important and how deep your pockets are. I'm an up! GTI driver, clearing my mortgage over the next few years a priority over premium cars, and I can say that pound for pound it is great value for money and cheaper plastics take nothing away from the car or driving dynamic.Great to see other manufacturers opening up doors and pressing the bigger brands to retain some control over costs.

If Hyundai want to start selling respectable numbers of these they need to start doing some finance deals. Monthlies on these are 450-500, putting in 2.5k. They are not competitive enough to temp people jumping from the already better market rivals. Do prefer this one over the H/B but for me the Civic is best of the FWD bunch by a fair way.

Once rolling it feels no slower than my 300bhp Golf R but it's way more fun to drive. Yes it's not going to win a 0-62 contest but it corners on rails compared to a Golf R or GTi, is adjustable at the limit of grip, can be taken on track without any warranty issues - try that with a VAG car and see what they say - and that exhaust sound is border line rude for a 4 pot turbo

British roads must be a lot kinder than Australian roads on the i30 suspension. I took one for a test drive a few months back. Even on the freeway it felt very stiff and uncomfortable. Zippy little car though, just too small for anything other than a town runaround. Just looked at price comparison, here you can get it for the equivalent of GBP22k or 24,500 drive away. The drive away price varies from state to state due to different registration costs, but much cheaper than Hyundai UKs price of GBP30k. Great video presentation by the way.

How does the interior compare to a Focus RS.
Sold my RS due to general poor quality (worse than my 10 year old Cupra K1) and on going reliability (The usual head gasket, oil leaks, steering rack x2 and poor ride quality). So looking for a replacement.
Golf Clubsport Ed40 with all the spec and Stage 1is high on the list but I like this N branding too.

Let's be honest. Your not gonna be touching that better interior as often as you think you are and the touch points on this N are great (shifter, pedals, wheel) The GTIs interior is better but it really isnt necessary and the styling on this car is amazing and more aggressive than the GTI. Also GTIs are everywhere and get boring let's be honest.

      Petrol Ped .... sad indeed.
There were/ are a number of Australian 2017/18 i30 SR owners that have had/ are having issues with warm starting on the 1.6T mated to the DCT gearbox.
Fortunately after several months of issues and weeks off the road ( starting, engine idling, trim durability , noisy steering) I was offered a full refund of the purchase price. I’m aware of at least 3 other Sydney owners that also were offered refunds.
I believe that there is a communication issue between the dealership network and hyundai Australia which means that knowledge isn’t being shared freely. I found that Local expertise and fault translating ( where no code is presented) is woeful and there was /is a heavy reliance both on customer apathy and on dealers sending data back to Korea to try and resolve the local head scratching .
The 5 year warranty is laughable.... two of the claims my dealership put through were rejected by Hyundai Australia ... which is where we got to a stalemate and Australian consumer law took over.

I am not concerned in the slightest by the badge but at 30k the price is far to close to better much better performing cars and for me this is where these cars fall flat. Hyundia are asking just too much money for a new kid on the block in the hot hatch market. There has to be an incentive to buy one of these compared to the well established hot hatch market. Whilst Hyundia won't want to lose money selling them too cheap, if these were around say £27,500 people would take them seriously and give them a punt but at 30k, whilst some might buy it there are many who won't.
