For me, it's the one with 3 pedals. I won't look down at people who get the DCT, but come on... it's a hot hatch. In order to experience it to the fullest, you need that clutch pedal.

I finally got my DCT at the end of april. I fell in love with the i30n years ago.
Favorite design element is the triangle 3rd brake light and for the facelift the new led daydrive lights. I also like the analogue speedometer and that you still have a lot of real buttons instead of touch panels like in many other new cars. Touch operation while driving really sucks.
What i DISlike most on the facelift ist the unpainted plastic on the rear bumper. I wanted to buy a used first edition but sadfully i inherited some money so i had the choice between an used old one or a new facelift. After testdrive with the new DCT i just needed a few more weeks to choose the color.
    - Forged wheels look awesome - escpecially on shadow grey. They are a pain in the a** to clean because everything sticks on the raw surface but on the other side it's hard to see all the brake dust and dirt on them. Btw the black wheel nuts from the original hyndai accessories shop are delivered lose in a plastic bag. So they come with marks & scratches all around. When you want black lug nuts > get them from somewhere else.
    - I picked the comfort seats. The sport ones (+1.400€) look great and maybe better on the track, but i'm driving the N as my daily car in germany. Don't regret the choice. I recommend to test both of them at your local dealership. When you pick the sport ones in germany you can't add the comfort pack any more. So for example you cannot have the sporty seats with automatically lowered exterior mirrors. Really weird choice in the configurator.
    - suspension is great for daily-use-comfort on the one hand and fun on curvy roads or track on the other hand
    - N Power shift just feels awesome if you put down the pedal on the autobahn. On track i would turn it off.
    - DCT (+3.000€) is great and for me also was a point of safety decision since it is my first more powerful car at the age of 31. Since 17 i've only driven manual but i'm still afraid of misshifting the 280hp on track and damaging the car. The shifting pedals on the steering wheel are great. I actually started to drive the dct a lot in manual mode over the last two weeks and i really like it. I drove a lot of different cars at my job. Manual and auto. Switching gears on the dct feels like driving manual - you can feel like the clutch when you got you foot on the gas pedal while the dct shifts. I don't know if this is a dualclutch thing (only one i drove so far) but i like it a lot compared to the auto cars i have driven. Especially since i come from personal manual cars only. Just gives me this usual feeling.
    - automaticly disabling high beam surprisingly works better than in even more expensive cars
    - rear cross traffic warning works awesome! The way it warns you on the camera so you immediately know if the threat comes from the right or left. I can confirm that the collission avoidance assist also works (i was crawling backwards out of 90° parking lot, seen the bicycle on cam and through rear window, had enough space to bike lane - nothing to worry, but the car decided otherwise and stopped. Good to know that you can rely on this one). +500€ for the BCA and RCCA totally worth it.
    - love the sunroof (+1.100€). Just brings so much light into the car and helps a lot to get the warm air out on hot days.
    - fuel consumption hurts a lot. On my 12km way to work i can't get it below 11L/100km. On weekend with longer moderate drives i can get close to 9L/100km. When you go full throttle you can watch the tank needle falling. Well it's a small 50L tank. You can improve a bit by driving in manual mode. Well... german problems with fuel around 2€/liter.
Sorry for bad english. Greetings from germany. And for any "N-thusiast" out there: Enjoy this awesome car!

100% agree with the rear bumper point. It looks so much better on the 1st Gen

Just grabbed a hatchback DCT in phantom black from a cancelled order :) It'll probably arrive in September. I too have been always driving manuals, never driven an auto and to be honest, I wanted the i30 N in manual. But you can't find this card anywhere, even used, these days. That's why I decided to pull the trigger on the DCT. Hope it won't let me down :) Manual mode with the paddle shifters seems to give you a bit of the manual shifting feeling back.

Rather late to this video. I test drove the DCT and ordered the manual. I don't get caught in bumper to bumper traffic very often, so understand someone not wanting a 3rd pedal in that situation.
I am over 50 and driven tradie van manuals and powerful manuals for years. Not so much recently with young family and people movers etc. All Autos in those. Family are grown now and I have my decent car again!
Took me about 2-3 months to get dialed in to the manual again. Fantastic shift. Driving the 6 speed intuitively and effectively now.
I did not like the DCT because of the continual tweaking and having to pop the gear up when not pressing on. Was ALWAYS slightly to high RPM than I needed as the DCT was waiting to shift up. Probably could get used to it or maybe the self programming would step up?
I LOVE the calmness and smoothness of the manual. YOU get to pick what gear to be in, at what speed, in what conditions.
I LOVE the ability to calmly downshift approaching a corner or roundabout and be ready to go through
I LOVE the ability to put your foot down and flick through the gears for full engagement.
6Sp manual also saves a bit of weight over the front axle.
My i30N: 6 sp manual, sports seats, no sunroof, performance blue with ceramic coating applied (not dealer) to make the blue 'wet looking'. All in all, the lightest spec you can order.
Another reason for the sports seats is that they sit lower in the car than the standard seat due to the loss of all the electric motors. Was important for me as I am tall. Seating position is perfect and comfortable for hours of driving.
I love the analogue, old school hot hatch and look forward to any and every trip in it. Never fails to bring a grin. Using the clutch adds to those grins.

If strictly street weekender than manual, if you're tracking, drive it daily, or have members in the family that need to drive you're car but don't drive manual than the DCT all day

I used to be a manual person. Manual transmissions are more fun but you can't deny how good these autos are nowadays. Look at the vw gti's with dsg transmission, they are down on power but just as quick as any competitor in their class that has more kw. If I was to choose between i30n manual and dct, I would get the the DCT.

Would of loved a manual, but city driving with lights every 5 seconds and the traffic I went for auto.. plus the wife can’t drive a manual so makes sense for a auto.

Waiting for my i30n premium DCT hatch... I currently have a Focus ST, and I think may miss the manual on the twisting roads, but in the city and open roads there is no benefit having the manual

Hey mate, we're in the exact same predicament now coming from a 2015 focus st, we've only driven a dct as that was all the dealership had, I thought it was great but unsure if the novelty will wear off. How have you found it? Wishing for the manual now?

Pretty strange review this is probably one of the loudest cars I’ve ever owned driving on the freeway, the 19 inch wheels are paired very poorly with the pirrelis. The road noise and vibration through the steering wheel due to the low profile tyres is INSANE
Fuel economy non freeway is closer to 12 on average all day long

DCT for sure. Nearly all super cars are automatic 🤷‍♂️ no benefits in driving a manual

The car is fantastic, with the exception of the cheap nasty plastic. And !and Ummm are not words. Practice speaking without using. Prior to recording. 😉
