Γειά σου!!! My mother used to make this for me when I was young and couldn't remember how to make it and found your recipe and now you've brought back to life old memories with great taste. Bless you my friend!
this was the first greek think i ever cooked.. love seeing your twist on it.. i have mine with pitta, chopped red onion, diced tomatoes and good olives, all dusted off with a sweet paprika..
I love split pea soup, pretty sure I'm going to like this a lot as well! I'll take a look around in the grocery store for the yellow ones. Thanks for the recipe!

Fava is amazingly good, I always eat it the same way as I eat my Hummus - with lots of olive oil, fresh red onion and baked crispy pitas (well, middle eastern) BTW, you got that thumbnail off Google, didn't you? Lol, I'm almost certain that I've seen the exact same photo when I searched for a decent Fava recipe as soon as I got back from Crete. Still, great vid Ken, have a great week

In Greek "fava" means yellow split peas, so no error, Ken's explanation is 100% correct. What we call "Fava beans" in the US are actually called "broad beans" everywhere else in the world. ... Funny Story, in Italian "fava" simply means "beans". So Italians in America used to say "fava", and the Americans would say "you mean beans?" , and the Italians would say "Si, fava, beans". And that's the story of why broad beans are now called "fava beans" in the USA, which literally means "beans beans", lol.

hi :) thancks for this video , the fava we can serve cold or obligatory hot ?
Cheers
Typically it’s served chilled…. Enjoy!!!
if i dont have an immersion blender, can i use a processor?
I like my fava creamy. Can you please share brand of hand held mixer you recommend. Thank you!
I generally use KitchenAid Flo….
I accidently added a lot of salt to this, any recommendations on how to fix this?
are you soaking the split peas overnight?
Yes I do soak all my dried legumes at least 12 hours and sometimes even longer....
Why don’t you sauté the onions????
Can I freeze this ?
I personally have never tried but I don’t see why not. Only thing is, I would thaw it at room temp. rather than I microwave....
Ok thank you
Kalo
