I love your video. I am drinking red wine on a thursday, making dinner and packed lunch for tomorrow. And I had some broad beans in my vegbox and I just googled on how to cook them and you came up with the same vibe as me. What a lovely lady! Thanks for the vibes and the info.
I agree it's the first one I've seen and it's so relaxing and simple it doesn't grate on my nerves like some TV chefs do . I love the kitchen and Jessie is just beautiful and so funny .
can't wait to try this tomorrow morning, we got some fresh fava beans from a local farm and I picked up some bread from the bakery today and vegan feta. Loved this sweet video. Your kitchen is beautiful!
No one in the US knows much about Fava beans. Im growing them 1st time and your video is a wonderful tutorial. I'll think of how cool it was of you to share this info. It's healthy protein and more people need to add them to their gardens. I'll eat a sampling and save enough to plant next year. From 8b in Washington state. 💝💝Thank You💝💝
i have just finished watching all of your vids jessie ,i have your tours to go yet but up to date on your journey and i love how you explain every thing weather its a noise in back ground or or you explaining about food or how you plant i love it so thank you,i have to admit i have never tried a broad bean,i love how what every you grow u show us how you use it in a meal :)
There is nothing better than preparing wondering food grown by your own hand. In your case it’s even better than that. You are beautiful and have a glass of wine in hand. Your videos speak for themselves. Just wonderful. Big love pretty lady. Rob.
Well that was fun, perhaps all the better for not saving the wine till the end. I feel a new RUclips channel coming on, "Barefoot in the kitchen with Jessie". Now that has to be a winner.
I picked my first lot this morning & had them with my breaky 😍 I totally agree, they really are so delicious! I just them raw with some olive oil, lime, salt & pepper, along side some avo & scrambled eggs. Pure joy 👌🏼
I never even heard of the old double podding trick before Jessie and I've been eating broad beans a long long time . I've planted a ton of them this year and staggered the sowing times to ensure continuity but they all seem to be ripening at the same time .
I grew broad beans after watching this last year. Just harvested today, and made this recipe of yours tonight. It was SO good! My husband tried it and raved over it as well. Now I will be trying your other recipes. Thank you for sharing and making this video.
Thanks. Delicious. This morning I harvested my broad beans and filled two containers for the freezer. I had a few left over, so tried your combination for lunch. Missing the feta cheese but goats cheese worked well. I had a freshly cooked beetroot in the fridge, chopped alongside, with a small dollop of greek yoghurt it made a perfect lunch. The beans were the star and this will be a staple lunch from now on. Again many thanks for taking the time and trouble to create this video. Oh, and the wine went down just fine.
If you dont let the beans grow large you dont have to double pod. Another recipe, broad beans, peans onion and garlic, boil then use a stick blender or fork and make a hummus
This is the first time I've watched your vlog, because it's also the first time I've grown and cooked broad beans. I had to pause, go buy wine, and I have been podding, drinking and learning. Then I subscribed, because of how relaxing it was to learn with you, looking forward to catching up on all the other videos and seeing more.
3RD DAY OF SUMMER. Mild slightly rainy day here in Nelson NZ. Today we have totally enjoyed feeding our faces with this delicious meal. I have waited all winter knowing this dish was on the menu. Thanks Jessie.
@@JessieatPlot37 loving your recipes so far. We need 'simple' as we work so hard in the garden now. I loved the way you did chard with noodles. I wondered if you cooked the stems of the ones that were going to seed. Ours were too stringy for stir frying or steaming. Sad to compost them!!
This is perfect. Please please keep doing these cooking vids along with the others. These are invaluable. I would never have thought to have broad beans like that. Also, it was so relaxing to watch with that music. Thank you
That was brilliant, thank you! I love broad beans but didn't even know double podding was even a thing! How crazy is that. Will definitely be trying it right now for dinner. Yes please more of these gems xxx
Totally fine with whatever vids you make, watching them always cheers me up! Loved this because I've no imagination and wouldn't have ever thought of making broad beans this way, and I'll definitely be trying it, looked delicious! Best to you and your lovely mum.
Fry them in plenty of butter a pinch of salt and pepper for a minute or two and eat them as they are. Simplicity is always best eat them in there shells I do
Definitely! ... often their numbers are dramatically reduced during the double podding stage because half of them go in my mouth like that. plain as plain and gorgeous!
I'd never had a broad bean until moving to the UK so I made a dip from them one year. Wow, it was a revelation! So lovely and fresh from something that looks rather ugly to begin with.
I really wanted to try broad beans in my garden this year, and watching your video, was making my mouth water, so it’s going to be a win win this year. Thank you
Thank you Jess, the enigma that is the green and her broad bean has now been exposed. I once had a linguine with broad beans in and I never knew how to grow them to be so green. I did not know that you could take the outer skin off the bean And more to the point that it would be so simple. Long live the broad bean. Thank you for that tutorial. Lovely kitchen by the way.
Hi Jessie. As I'm a Vegetarian that grows her own veg on my plot I'd love to hear more different and exciting ways to cook them. Looking forward to next Thursday and of course Tuesday too.x
I'm growing broad beans for the first time (I'm growing a lot of veg for the first time) so I really like the recipe ideas Jess. My broad beans aren't ready yet but I do have a lot of chard so hoping for a chard recipe or two in the future. I had chard, onion and tomato stir fried and topped with cheese last night.
As you know - Big Chard fan here! But i'm 'between chards' at the moment. Just cleared an over winter bed and waiting for summer.... although i do have a bit of one left i could try and do something with! lol
Me too. I am not a fan of cabbage. A left over from 60s school meals. I like savoy cabbage in stir fries so I am growing that. Like you if I have been growing it for 6 months I will not let it go to waste. I gave been to our book cycle and bought loads of books on veggie cooking. It definitely helps. You may be lucky enough to live in a place that still has libraries.
I've got lucullus chard and perpetual spinach ready (and a bit too close together) and there are some rainbow chard seedlings that are only a couple of inches tall so a little way off yet. I'm also growing sorrel, any suggestions for what to make with that?
i like my leaves fairly simple. my husband uses large chard leaves for wraps and smaller ones as lettuce in hus sandwiches. i like to sautee my leaves. cut the stems into inch pieces. put in pan with a bit of water. cook and test until tender enough for you. cut leaves into pieces, add. cook until tender enough for you (test). throw in garlic and a bit of oil.
Well your a star never knew about double podding can’t wait to try this one. Cooking from the plot is great idea. I enjoy both gardening and what you cook thanks so much.. just watching my beans get going over this side of the world. Be the first receipt I try when they are big enough. Just put it in recipe book so I won’t forget how you done it.
Loved this. It is winter here, and my broad beans are a good few months away from harvest, but my lips are already watering for trying this way of cooking them. Thank you so much for your passion and for the inspiration. This may also go well with a nice Chianti.
In Poland, where I live, they are extremely popular. My family eat them just boiled in salted water, still warm, bite into the skin and pop the bean into mouth. Delicious! But I'm definitely going to give your version a try 🙂
I'm now VERY disappointed I haven't grown any Broad Beans...this really has made me want to give them a second chance. Thanks Jess for once again inspiring me. ❤
Rally enjoying the cooking vids... great to see veg go straight from the garden to the kitchen. Personally I love raw broad beans. Straight from the pod, skin included. lovely garden snack
I love Broad beans. My parents used to grow them and I’ve always loved eating them. I’ve planted my first few in the autumn and the beans are looking ready now.😀
I'm excited to try this!! Thank you. Your dress is lovely in the sunlight ☀️ you look lovely! Im so glad I found your channel. I learn so much (gardening, cooking, about chickens, etc)! Thanks!
Jessie, I've never had broad beans, but would now love to grow them just to make this recipe! The chive flowers made this recipe go the over the top! So pretty, delicate and the color was fabulous with the bright green of the beans. I also like the idea of seeing more of your freshly grown fruits and veggie recipes. So glad you will be adding this to your videos.Thank you for another lovely visit.
Thank you Debbie! I love chive flowers, they are so gorgeous and taste amazing. I'd have them on anything! :D Its always a bit dodgy trying to throw something new into the mix, glad you enjoyed it!
Love the idea of recipes, Jessie, and this broad bean one looks delicious. I'm going to give it a try. I'm growing lots of chard and spinach on my plot so any recipes you can show using them would be great. Thanks for sharing. Jan x

I absolutely loved this video. You're so natural and knowledgeable. I'm a gardener and foodie so you have just upped your channel for me. So nice that you'll be adding more home grown cooking , extends the garden to the table, like a French auberge and this is why we all grow veg.

Your coking show is every bit as good as your plot show...lol, love it all!!
Thanks Lynn, its always a bit dodgy trying something new. lol

Thanks Vida! Yeah, they used to be very popular over here but they faded a bit. Under-appreciated!

I grew Broad Beans in the school garden, was, not sure how to cook them so thanks for this I was amazed you can still stand up after all that wine.
Move over Nigella, there’s a new girl in town! Fantastic video, you absolutely must do more like this 🥰
You really pamper us garden junkies with two videos per week 😊
Make sure that you don't burn yourself out 💙
lol, all okay at the moment Michel!
Excellent, something to try with my first broad bean harvest and my own garlic and mint. Thanks
Fab! I'm not quite at the 'own garlic' stage yet... nearly though!
It’s official !
52 yrs old and have now found I like broad beans !
Had no idea that the rough skin could be removed . Learn summat new every day
There is nothing better than preparing wondering food grown by your own hand.
In your case it’s even better than that. You are beautiful and have a glass of wine in hand. Your videos speak for themselves. Just wonderful.
Big love pretty lady. Rob.
Made me very hungry. You started your beans early, mine ate flowering well but no beans yet. Loving your cookery ideas. Please keep them coming.
thanks Andy! Yeah, the ones that are podding now were the ones i sowed way too early... lol.
Well that was fun, perhaps all the better for not saving the wine till the end. I feel a new RUclips channel coming on, "Barefoot in the kitchen with Jessie". Now that has to be a winner.
:D Hahaha, thanks! I'll 'Bare' that in mind.... *boom tish*
Thanks for the recipe. On and entirely unrelated note if I may, you look like a bloody goddess in that yellow dress- what a beauty!!!
Thank you!
I picked my first lot this morning & had them with my breaky 😍 I totally agree, they really are so delicious! I just them raw with some olive oil, lime, salt & pepper, along side some avo & scrambled eggs. Pure joy 👌🏼
Just to add to my comment below, this is, hands down the BEST Broad bean video on RUclips. I've just come back to watch it again. Brilliant!!
that looks AMAZING
I've been growing for many years but sometimes struggle with ideas for new things to make . I love watching how you cook what you grow.
I never even heard of the old double podding trick before Jessie and I've been eating broad beans a long long time . I've planted a ton of them this year and staggered the sowing times to ensure continuity but they all seem to be ripening at the same time .

I'm in South West Australian and Broad been is a very useful and tasty plant for me.
My Mum fryed with sesimy seeds, salt and olive oil. Was ausome.
I love this recipe and come back to it every year, today was my first broad bean harvest of the year so fresh beans on toast!
I think your cooking videos are gonna be a hit!!

Cheers and more please
🍸🌱🍸
Spectacular! Really elevates the humble broadbean with the simplest approach. Excellent. Asparagus Soup Video Please!
I'm here for all the cooking videos! 🥂
Here in the US we don’t grow that type of bean, so I found your video very interesting, informative and the dish looked delicious. Thanks for sharing!
We call them fava beans here in the US
Loved the beans recipe. Certainly one to try 👍🏻
Hello Jessie. I have never eaten Broad Beans but decided to grow some this year. I had no idea how to prepare or cook them but thanks to your video, I now know what to do. Please keep the recipes coming. They are so useful.
Wonderful. Cookery to get excited about.
I'm going to grow broad beans just so I can try this.
I just harvested a load of Broad Beans, I'm going to this tonight, thanks for sharing 👍
I have found that, usually when someone doesn't like a food, it's because s/he don't know the right prep and/or recipe.
this was so delightful to watch
That was great Jessie, yes, I say mix it up. I think it would be great to learn how to make dishes that are foreign to me, but I really want to try, especially if it comes out of the garden! I have never cooked broad beans, so that was a treat!
Thanks Joan! Its always a bit tricky trying to mix it up, i'm glad you enjoyed it!
Fabulous offering , as i am growing them ,never tasted them ,and didn't have a clue what to do with them , i do now thank you 😉❤
:D Thank you Mandy!
I absolutely loved this video. You're so natural and knowledgeable.
I'm a gardener and foodie so you have just upped your channel for me. So nice that you'll be adding more home grown cooking , extends the garden to the table, like a French auberge and this is why we all grow veg.
Growing broad beans this year.....this recipe looks spectacular......definitely having a little go!
I can't wait to try them, and yes please to the recipes 👍
Fab, thanks Janet!
Eating broad beans fresh from your own garden is a totally different experience to those enormous overgrown pods you purchase. I don’t double pod or take inner skin off bean and they are amazing, but I don’t let them get huge either. I just steam them for a brief period and yum yum Excess I freeze after blanching some lose that outer pod by themselves but others don’t so I leave. Great to see how you use them Jess any more ideas gratefully received even at 76 Thank you oh and watch that sun Jess your a bit pink
This was a wonderful format, a beautiful yet simple recipe that came straight from your heart.
I cant wait to have beans on toast. Great recipe!
I'm a Gardner and a cook, but this is still my most favourite video of yours.
Inspired to grow broad beans after watching this great video last year! My first harvest today. Greetings from Canada!
