- In this video project coupe gets some ignition upgrades. On my turbo 351 I installed a Holley Dual Sync from start to end. You will need a msd box to to fire it.

I used the default drop down for "Holley dual sync". I think the instructions were printed before the latest software update which did not have that option previously

This procedure is also needed for cam
Sync on direct fire systems. I have done it on holley systems and haltech elite systems. Getting the timing synced up is the worst part of the deal but it’s not too bad. Different ecus use different terms. For example haltech calls it TDC offset angle. That’s the number you modify after you lock the timing in the ecu to whatever degrees. 10 or 20. Then you modify that tdc offset number until your timing light matches the the number set in the locked number that was chosen. 10 or 20 etc you can put whatever you want. The point is making the number you choose match what is on the balancer. That is the sync. So you can be confident that your numbers you command in your spark table are Accurate to what the engine is seeing. At least for me, especially my first time trying to learn this, it was the hardest. Manipulating the ecu was much easier. But once it’s set you can basically forget about it. One thing, I am not 100 on this but haltech let’s you manipulate tdc offset from 0-720 degrees. Two engine revolutions to complete the four cycles on each hole. I think holley is -360 to 360. I am not 100 on that but I think it’s correct. This step is very important bc if you think you asking for 30 degrees and you are getting 40 or 20 bad things could happen. Anyways. Pretty excited for this car. Looks pretty legit.

Thanks! for taking the time to make this video. I like your oil psi fitting at the engine block where it looks like you have your oil feed line to the turbo and oil psi sending unit, did you make that or buy it somewhere?
Congrats, you took 28 minutes to explain what holley vid explained in 16 minute video 3 years ago? They used a sbc in the video, but that is irrelevant. Cool, but sort of redundant, the instructions supplied with the distributor are very clear, simple, easy to follow.

So, when I find the 50° on my balancer, I set it there, and that’s where I set my number1 spark plug wire at right.
i’m having a problem i can’t get my crank light to turn off only my cam. settings in the ecu are correct and im at 50 btdc spinning counter clockwise (302 small block ford foxbody on terminator efi)

Can you use the dual sync for coil on plug? LS coils or the new Holley coils?
Yes, but with coil on plugs you will need to add a crank sensor. The dual sync they make a blank cap and use it as a cam sync
Yes you can use the dual sync distributor for a coil near plug setup. A crank sensor would be better, but isn't necessary when using the holley dual sync distributor
When starting your motor on dual sync.
Did you use the ha d held tuner to setup the base tune first? Then grab the base tune off the handheld and modify it on the laptop?
I have a question. I’m currently building a sbf. What is the biggest difference between the Ford TFI distributor and the Holley Dual sync? Is it worth the money to put it onto my street car or just keep the TFI? Thanks in advance.
Yes! Tfi's hate heat. Ford moved the tfi module on 94/95 car. Dual sync you'll get reliability, precise timing. Your car will run better with it. You'll notice right off the bat once it sync and running.
Is the tuning the same as if you have coil on plugs like an ls? As far as timing ramps ability to cut and put back timing really quick etc? That all there?

Hey man. I’ve followed every step and talked to Holly themselves. Do you know what my issue would be if I still have no spark ? Before the car ran about 2 minutes then shut off and would only have spark if I cycled the key and started it again. Then it would die and not have spark unless I cycle. Now I’ve got the fuel sync and a msd 6a box and the car still won’t start

@@justin91lx Thanks man! I still have the stock on on it. I bought some of the timing tape to put on the stock pulley to get the 50 degrees.
Justin do you hook up the white points wire from terminator x to the white wire on the msd box
Yes, or whatever the points wire color is on the msd.

What if I am installing a Terminator and a dual sycn at the same time? The terminator has no initial programing and has never run. Do I set the ignition parameters first? Or do I do the initial terminator Wiz setup first?, or is everything done on the laptop together?
Yes, in the setup youll tell it you have a dual sync. It much easier to do stuff on the laptop. Never liked the 3.5 inch screen and wizard
@@justin91lx Thanks yes it was much easier on the Lap top. The problem I am having is that I am not getting spark. I tested the CDI street fire box and it seems to work, I do get spark when I ground the white wire. But when I hook everything up I don;t get spark to the spark plug. The "Cam trigger light is red on the terminator" I am not sure why because the cam and crank leds on the dual sync light up. It;s driving me crazy.

@@fiveohmanny Yes it was a setting in the distributor type section were you choose "Points dwell". There are 2 points setting one at the top of this list... and one at the bottom that says "Points Holley . You want the one at the bottom. As soon as I changed that the car fired right up. Hope that helps.
Is this required with Terminator x or just a better option?
Not required but gives you better spark control(since TFI can't go lower than 10 degrees) and gives you fully sequential fuel injection.
