Thanks for showing on a 5w laser, there aren't enough videos out there on producing good stuff on a 5w whether it's glass, slate or wood engraving or cutting. While the process might be similar in the end, it's the general starting point without wasting tons of material and time figuring it out is a huge bonus.
Great video. This is why the community is stronger with all the makers working together. Quick question. Did you test any other colors of the paint? Guessing blue would be bad for a diode laser, but would a dark (brown / black) be better or go to orange (opposite on the color wheel from blue)? Thanks for the great videos.
Thank you ☺️ I did try green and red paint and it didn’t work. I think it’s just darker colours, like black, that make it work. I could be wrong though 🤷🏻♂️😅
Legend! Thank you. And I got them from a Poundland shop near me. They sell sorts of junk but come sometimes get a great bargain like this for dirt cheap
I tried this with spray paint and my laser basically just removed the paint int the image. Do you have any tips? I have a longer 5W laser and tried it on a picture frame glass twice.
Mine is a fake foam type of tile I installed to cover my bad job of using plasterboard to build a room inside of my workshop 😂 I can imagine the one in your grandfathers house being made from a real craftsman back in the day and looking a lot better in person 😊
@@MARCAM That's for CO2, a bit more power than what you've got. The wet paper keeps the glass cool so the chips created are smaller (finer detail). Smearing a bit of detergent on it works as well. Honestly pretty much anything works with plain soda glass & CO2; wet paper is cheap, simple and doesn't make a mess. UV lasers are the best for etching glass.
Yeah I’ve done a fair bit just on plain glass with my co2. Have had mixed results but that method with wet tissue paper might sort out that outs. Cheer 👍🏻

That’s very true. People do tend to show stuff on higher end machines.
IMO I think the 5w machines can produce some fantastic detail.
Total beginner can i ask the setting you used tnx in advanced
The settings I used in this machine are mentioned 5:13
After a few tests that gave me the best results. Hope that helps 👍🏻
Thank you so much ... can't believe I totally missed that lol
@lisaclarkification no worries :) easily missed 👍🏻

Definitely trying this! Awesome video!
Thank you 😊 it’s a lot of fun for sure
Thanks Marc. What is the rating/wattage of your laser?
The laser used in this video was a 5 watt diode 👍🏻
Cool 😎 I have a 5W Laser I’m going to do this
Hope it works out well for you too 👍🏻
@@MARCAM hay thanks me too 😃
Great video thanks, where did you get the jars? Would love to try this, liked and subscribed

@@MARCAM Thanks I’ll have a look at my local Poundland.

It needs to be a specific type of paint for it to work. I used poster paint (tempera paint).
Your ceiling looks like my grandfathers he had in a house built over 100 yrs. Ago in West Texas.

Ive been told wet tissue paper works as well....I've not tried it yet mind!
Wet tissue paper instead of the paint?
