This rotary just plugs into one of the stepper motor connections. Does yours have a small white 3 or 4 pin plug or does it have a round metal pin plug?

It would have been great for engraving. This was the 10w and the 3w has a much thinner beam and can get much more detail plus it would of been portable and run off a small generator 👍🏻

@MARCAM a couple of things put me off, firstly was the low power, I don't know how good it would be on wood, bamboo but mostly slate I guess. Secondly was the software, I don't use lightburn, I use the Xtool creative space, I was one of the beta testers for the latest update. I wanted to see what the included software was like but until your video I couldn't find any info on the software (admittedly I didn't look too hard because I mostly wanted a review of the 3w version). When I mentioned craft fairs it would only be at a large animal rescue where I sell my items already in their craft shop so they would provide power anyway. I only started selling there 4 weekends before they closed for the season, sales were really good, best weekend was £317 with 20% going to them so they love the fact I have my stuff there. I think maybe I'll keep looking for a 3w review, it's still for sale a few miles away for £120. Failing that I'll just take my Xtool to the craft fair when they have them, it's a 160 mile round trip so I'd rather have something I am familiar with and I know can make my rabbit rescue and the farm animal rescue money than a small one that I might struggle to make my fuel money back with

It doesn’t always work with great results a sits driven with AI but I tried it with a photo of myself and it was pretty good. Definitely could tell it was me. Maybe the photo you’re trying has low resolution or maybe there is too much going on? Mine was literally a photo of me, nothing else and no background.

Create and download a depth map and load into your software (I use lightburn). Then run an engrave with a decent speed and maybe like 50% power. You want to laser to take away some of the material but avoid burning it. If 50% works then run 3 or 4 passes and check the engraving. You may want to go faster or slower and more or less passes depending on the results but have a play with it and you’ll get the hang of it in no time 👍🏻

I have seen other sites/ apps being used for this same thing but all results I have seen have been horrible. No prior editing has been done to any of my images and most depth maps turned out very clean and ready to use. If you have any links for the other free tools I’ll be more than happy to check them out and compare

Just something I’ve always done. Probably coming from a k40 and not wanting to run the tube out too quick.

So there is a way you can have multiple links. But you would need to either need to use something link tree or NFC tools has something called Unit.link

@@MARCAM Yeah, sure. There is way to use it right or wrong. You can tell it that a person is a different age or ethnicity but apart from that, it just generates random people based on what it recognizes. My sample was a family in front of a castle and it recognized it as such then drew just that - just not the actual people in the picture.

You can also edit the prompt it automatically generates. If you’re saying it’s giving a bald man hair then change the prompt to let it know it’s a bald man. This runs off AI it’s not going to be perfect. If you have any complaints or suggestions then drop the website owners an email. They’re pretty good at getting back to you

If you do it with your own images then you will own the rights to them 👍🏻

I have seen a few things about this but I think it was an old plugin for an older version. I could be wrong though.

I’ve recently uploaded a new video with another great tool too so definitely check that out too. It’s AI generated so not perfect results but does give you a cleaner image 👍🏻

Unfortunately I think you’re right but I think we have a good few years yet before AI can do it as good as a human.

Yeah it will charge you a credit for each time you generate any image.

It is literally free to use. I’m not sure how many times I need to say this. I know people don’t read everything or try something before commenting but it’s getting a bit ridiculous now.

Then copy the image into Inkscape and trace it or sign up and get some free credits.

I mean if it’s too expensive for you then I’d suggest not using it 😂

Single click the video and look for the Settings Gear in the top right corner. Click it and look for Playback speed in the drop down menu. Set the Playback speed to your preference.
