      Errr have you ridden 16" vs 18" & bigger wheels? If you have, you'd know smaller wheels arent the platform for chasing speeds. I've ridden my buddy's Patton to 75kmh & have easily taken my ex30 >80+kmh. IMO anything >70kmh on a 16" is sketchy af & risking disaster. Its not that BG isnt chasing speeds but moreso a matter of physics. You & anyone else ofcos, are welcome to try at your own risk

Much more fun on my current T4. Speed isnt really a factor on gnarlies & except for certain technical climbs, power also isnt a big factor, atleast not for the T4. Tho very tempted by the Extreme, I'm not crazy bout adding another 20+lbs to the equation. IMO ofcos

    130mm travel is just marketing, people measured it and on the hard linkage settings it's actually 85mm and on the soft it's around 110-115mm. Even if someone makes better linkages you have to account for the now larger rubber stoppers and substract those from the travel so 130mm quite a stretch.

    Great video. I have the extreme with the coil shock and its actually smoother than the S22 Pro! Unfortunately the coil shock bottoms out easily because Begode put the wrong shock on it, but they are sending out the correct shock already (it took Kingsong months to fix the sliders of the S22). The extreme became my favorite wheel almost instantly... and I hated the V13 and the Master.

    Woooah high praise (somewhat begrudgingly IMO) from Hsiang on a BG 😅. Imagine that! Ya I agree with all you've said & indeed rate it even higher (much higher) on the convenience score for its easy access & teardown for maintenance. Batch 1 will always be a crapshoot so luckily, timing has it that its pointless for me to preorder for sept/oct as its almost at the end of riding season in my neck of the woods plus I've got a T4 for dirt duties & an ex30 for speed thrills. So will likely be ordering the batch 2(3??) Extreme over the winter for spring '24. I lov the Extreme's beefy & dare I say MANLY looks, its modular design/access & its CNC parts. Kudos to Hsiang for mentioning such as I've not heard it from anyother reviews. Plus a thumbs up from Hsiang on a BG is worth 2 for LK 🤣

    How does the 20-inch ex30 accelerate faster than the 16-inch extreme? Does it mean the ex30 has more torque than the extreme? Is that because of the bigger battery?

    • @OWGAC
      @OWGAC  Год назад +2

      Acceleration depend both of power and stability, you need a lot of stability to be able to lean deeply to maximize torque output, and yes this can be overcome through skill and experience but I still think the EX30 wins. I haven’t tested 0-50 on the extreme yet so I may be wrong

Just a matter of physics as all. That said, running a thinner 18" street tire will somewhat offset the lack of nimbless but at the cost of topend stability so another win some lose some. Again physics

Much better value for money. For sustained high speed street riding none of these 4p 16" wheels are suited to that.. for that use case I'll stick with my ex30

    3 questions:
    what's bolted to the back of your shoe - did it come that way?
    are you concerned about the BMS and battery fires or are newer Begode models more trustworthy?
    Chooch and another reviewer bent the suspension connector bar (i don't know the proper name, sorry) - do you think that's likely to be a problem for non hardcore riders?
    thank you.

      Yes that shoe (nike/ acronym collab) came like that and actually allows you to 3D print different clips you can attach, now I need a 3D printer! 2. I think the newer begode model are much more reliable than what they had released in the past, I have not heard of any fire for the newer 2400wh + class of begode wheels. 3. If you bottom out your shock, that force then have to go somewhere else, and in this case the connector bar, I did not bottom out my shock so didn’t have that problem. I think you just have to make sure that your shock adjustment accomodate the force you’ll put it through.

    These little wheels are fine for NYC, but leaving long-distance touring customers with wallets locked-shut. EUC-trend was bigger/longer-distance up to the great Sherman-Max; now everything skews smaller/torque-ier? Why? Did someone see an end to the bigger/longer-distance market? Am touring hundred-mile stretches (160km) without recharging options. And pushing Sherman-Max's weight limit. Unless someone produces a markedly more capable Wheel, those long-distance roads/trails will remain inaccessible.

    • @grb1969
      @grb1969 Год назад +7

      As speed increases with larger tires and batteries, the agility decreases. At high speeds, the gyroscopic forces and momentum makes cornering much more difficult, and overshooting a curve at high speed speeds can ruin your day. Until batteries become half their weight and or gyroscopic forces can be reduced, the speeds will be limited by the nature of the design.
      Power demands also increase exponentially with speed and the market is insufficient to support EUCs that would have comparable performance to cars or motorcycles. There’s no reason why an EUC couldn’t be designed to travel safely at 100-150mph, except cost. And, for this reason alone, we won’t be seeing wheels go much faster for about another decade. I can think of dozens of ways to safely reach sports car type performance but none would cost less than ~$10k in mass-production. {Of course, billions of potential customers are ultimately riding EUCs but organic growth rates are insufficient to justify the Capital investment at this time.}
      For now, the EUC has proven itself a preferred alternative (to cars and other PEVs) at speeds under 40-45mph. The focus on bringing high quality suspension with minimal maintenance is needed to grow the customer base before the investment in car-crushing performance can be justified.
      {This is my opinion only, if anyone sees it differently, I’m open to suggestions.}

    • @tomnoyb8301
      @tomnoyb8301 Год назад +2

      @@grb1969 - There was no mention of faster speed, nor any desire for faster speed. Longer-range, yes. Full 320lbs load-limit with shock-absorber, yes. Bi-directional USB-c PD, yes. More-speed, no. Doubling Sherman-Max batteries meets the US tax write-off requirement, as long as manufacturer acquires the IRS-DOT certification. Therefore, an $8-$9k EUC price-tag is entirely reasonable. With battery technology improvements and battery costs coming-down, profit-margins would be much greater than current wheels.

    • @OWGAC
      @OWGAC  Год назад +3

      You need the Sherman S then! Comfortable to ride, stable, agile for items weight, built like a tank and I regularly get 100miles + even with me riding like a maniac. The batch of 16 inch wheels were really in response to rider request for smaller, cheaper “fun” wheels.

    • @tomnoyb8301
      @tomnoyb8301 Год назад

      @@OWGAC - No, Sherman-S went in the wrong direction too. Weight-limit dropped to 265lbs, battery stayed the same. Am getting 70mi on 3,600Wh Sherman-Max on flat-ground (weigh much more than you). Touring-rides aren't on flat ground though, they are in the mountains. In mountains, 3,600-Wh turns into 40mi range. And out-West, it's 100mi between between recharging locations (300mi between official recharging locations). What's needed is another class-jump up to 7,200Wh battery and full shocks up to 320lbs. Tax write-off makes cost-structure work in favor of EUC's.
      Battery technology improvements further improve profit-margins. Also reducing Wheel-weight.
      Car manufacturers discovered profit-margins are in SuV's, not economy cars. EUC manufacturers doubled profit margins when they doubled EUC size. Not sure why they thought the gravy-train ended at 100lb Wheels? Obviously, bigger means more profit (in America). It always has and it always will.
