Hi Doc, love your channel. I’m 2 months into carnivore: Have completely reversed severe Rheumatoid arthritis and interstitial cystitis and off biologic meds so I’m stoked about that. I just eat beef, pork belly, butter and tallow and added bacon and eggs in after the first month but at week 7- now I’ve suddenly developed these scabby bumps all over my scalp that itch like crazy!!!! I’m scared my hair is going to fall out I’m itching so bad and feel really irritated. I’ve searched online if anyone else has had this after going carnivore but haven’t found an explanation. Is it oxalate dumping? Or histamine intolerance? Or thought it may be an allergy to eggs? None of the medications the doc suggested have helped. Maybe that's my problem I eat it without anything on top except salt. I'm eight weeks on carnivore and barely lost a few lbs. I was on keto 3 months prior without losing anything.
You will lose weight. Don’t reduce what your eating. Eat till you’re full. Plenty of fat, that’s what keeps you feeling full. It takes time and remember weight loss it not the primary purpose, the purpose is to reduce inflammation. Keep at it you’ll get there.
@@andyc7747 I think calories still matter. I have been doing carnivore for over 8 weeks with only a few pounds loss. Before that I was on Keto for 3 months without any results not even an ounce of fat loss and before that I was eating OMAD working out, doing cardio, walking five miles every day for almost 90 days straight and again without any fat loss. The only thing left for me to "blame" is too many calories I'm consuming maybe?!
So i was wondering, why is pork not ideal? Whats wrong with omega 6? It seems to be one of the few parts of meat here in the Netherlands that are affordable and have a lot of fat next to just regular ground meat, which has a 50/50 ratio fat/Protein. Ribeye for example is 4 times more expensive (around 40 dollars a kilo)
Omega 6 nothing inherently, but can be pro inflammatory. The Linoleic Acid seems to be a big problem. Pork (pigs), chickens and humans are all monogastric animals. We can’t convert the LA so it builds up. Ruminant animals can mostly convert it so it doesn’t build up.
What to eat on a carnivore diet is NOT a matter of choice for many of us ! I can't afford beef except for the cheap cuts which need to be cooked to death before they are even 'chewable' and losing many of their benefits in the water. They are of course delicious if cooked in wine, herbs and vegetables... which we can't have. This constant 'pushing 'of beef, puts many people off embarking on carnivore, and may I say that the sight of a 'brown, beefy lump' on my plate every day, and the monotony of it all, would put me off forever. ! Just because variety is obviously not your 'spice of life' please do not imagine that those of us who, rich or poor ,would want to support this unimaginative regime. Beef, unless it is grass fed and grass finished is subject to the same feeding process by farmers for profit, as any other meat so don't fool yourself otherwise. It is unfair to warn against chicken, and its Omega 6 content, when you compare the crap folks eat before they embark upon the carnivore diet.and will puts many folks off ! You might give a shout to Fish, sardines, mackeral, herring, anchovies and wild salmon (if one can afford it) all rich in Omega 3. Pork is comparatively cheap, plus lamb, .............and mutton (old sheep) when slow cooked to tenderise and then cooked on the barbeque , is delicious. Liver is not to everyone's liking, but sprinkled with some spices, YES you can have them ! and accompanied by a sauce made from creme fraiche or sour cream and mixed with the butter in which you have fried your liver, is equally delicious and so cheap ! Eggs of course, and bacon. Sausages are in the danger zone because they, and especially british sausage, contain bread and other carbohydrates and other harmful additives; So..make your own ! Grind some pork, some spices of choice, shape into patties, add a egg. put in fridge to 'harden' and fry up in butter for breakfast . Cheese is of course an animal product, and acceptable, but goats cheese and sheeps cheese are much better in their health giving properties.as it unlikely to have been made from dairy cows, intensively reared and are given hormones to increase milk yield.. So there you have it, my puritanical friend. . I have been on this carnivore, omad way of life for years. The crippling pain I endured for decades has long gone, and at 77, I don't think the absence of beef has mattered at all, nor has the occasional addition of spices.and I do not see that eating should be anything other than a pleasure, both in imaginative cooking or the eating.
I occupy the same space in the Carnivore world as yourself. Monday to Friday I eat eggs, smoked mackerel, chicken thighs, pork meatballs and ham. At the weekend I add in the premium lamb or beef.

Deli counter @ 4:30 in this video... looks tasty but all the meat I see at deli counters has sugar and/or nitrates in it. The other day I inquired specifically at a local deli counter about whether they have any deli meats without any sugar, nitrates, nitrites, etc. The simple answer I received was, "No."
What I`ve learned has an interesting video on nitrates, explaining in depth the effect and amount needed to cause harm. We would have to eat hundreds of times more than regular portions to actually suffer from such nitrates.
@@Adreno23421 Dr. Ken Berry doesn't worry about nitrates/nitrites in meat. On the other hand, cardiologist Dr. William Davis does. NOKAFS (No One Knows Anything For Sure).

Barely any since I started boron regularly. If I skip a few days of boron I get them back. I was actually having a great chat last couple of days with Dr Paul Mason about boron - hopefully he’ll come on the podcast soon. He was saying he uses it quite a bit with his patients too. We were discussing the physiology and how boron may help the cramps. It may actually be more than the magnesium absorption, might be around ATP production. Hard to know because the science is a bit limited.
@@Themeatmedic that's interesting, I wonder how boron affects the mitochondria. Paul is awesome, it would be great if you can do an interview with him. I'd love to hear more about his theory on plant cholesterol's involvement in atherosclerosis.

Not silly at all. I think it depends where you at on your journey. If you are metabolically healthy, yes the very occasional bad food won’t hurt you, but if metabolically unhealthy or addicted to bad food it can undo a lot of progress.
Not technically carnivore but, we are not a cult and the Carnivore police won't come and take you away. Personal choice and achieving your metabolic health goals is the driving factor.

It could happen on any diet, but one of the main reasons for kidney stones is oxalates. Oxalate dumping can trigger stones so a high ox diet and prone to stones it’s worth reducing slowly.
It can be an issue. Avocado is a good source if you are more of a ketovore. Otherwise electrolyte mixes, but it’s often about balance. Too much sodium will essentially reduce potassium. ‘Low potassium’ might actually be ‘excess sodium’
@@Themeatmedic i can give up sugar easily but on 100% carnivore I miss broccoli, roasted beetroot, avocado, olives, mushroom, strong coffee has been impossible to give up -- the addiction is stronger than sugar-- a glass of red at night ...
@@1980mikeh addiction is hard. Carnivore helped me with coffee, but some really do struggle to give it up. To be honest whilst I’m not a huge fan of coffee due to potential mould toxins, for most people 1 cup a day is likely to do little harm.

It dint help you with yr hair. But ok. You are forgiven. You'll save $ on haircuts, no? Then again you gotta shave the peach fuzz. So that might negate, that.
If you're a vegetarian you've most likely lost the ability to produce digestive enzymes, if you want to start eating more meat you can bring that ability back by slowly adding very small amounts of meat a few times a day until you're back to normal, I did this and it worked even though I have a low bile output.

Maybe that's my problem I eat it without anything on top except salt. I'm eight weeks on carnivore and barely lost a few lbs. I was on keto 3 months prior without losing anything.
sometimes things take time. kelly hogan talks about this a lot
Thanks for the heads up. This might explain why the dress I'm wearing now is screaming, "Please set me free!" 😂
So no vegetables at all? I love meat but I do like veggies as well. Whats the negative on them? New to all this and this seems wild to me
All the best.
A most excellent and informative comment. Thank you for sharing. Live long and prosper!
Well said.
I occupy the same space in the Carnivore world as yourself. Monday to Friday I eat eggs, smoked mackerel, chicken thighs, pork meatballs and ham. At the weekend I add in the premium lamb or beef.
Wow. U look 20 yrs younger😮
Iam on 10th day of carnivire diet .all symptoms gine ezcept for loose motion . I have ibs d . I take zincorup syrup as a supplement. So how to firm the stool
No organs? I find organs do add variety and flavor, in addition to nutrients
Out of curiosity, do you like poached eggs?
You could say that lol.
so which part of pork would you suggest? Beef is actually quite costly where I live.. bought a kilo of t-bone today and it was ~48 AUD.. converted from €uros
I’m not a huge fan of pork, but I like pork mince. Quite versatile and cheap.
How do you get your Vit C rdi without overdosing on vit A ?
I also don't understand why anyone would attempt a diet thats never been practiced any where at any time by anyone .
Even the Innuit ate seaweed and berries when available.
Meat contains vitamin C
@@Themeatmedic You are meeting your Rdi of Vit C without overdosing on Vit A ?
You don't cook your meat and eat large daily servings of raw liver ?
We are all taking the risk against conventional medical wisdom. There are many thousands of us acting as willing test cases. The overwhelming consensus is that we are thriving. We took the risk and are now reaping the reward.
How to start the carnivore diet e book, says it's free, but when you click on it, it says $20. Is this an error, or is it $20
unless you're blessed with a smoker, i highly highly suggest an air fryer, ive been carnivore since july 2nd, and i gotta say butter and salt on my beef even a 2.5lb chuck roast just butter and salt super delicious (mostly thawed, 15 mins a side then 9 minutes a side is what i did for roast)
Yeah air fryer made a big difference for us
Hi doc thank u so much for this amazing video, just subscribed to ur channel. Pls I started carnivore diet about two weeks ago and dairy makes me sick. I can't eat butter, cream, ghee or tallow. What can I used to increase my fat consumption to accelerate weight loss. Thank u
Try MCT oil -- refined coconut oil. No taste, no smell, goes great in coffee. (Good on dry skin too!)
I use goose or duck fat when cooking I'm not sure if I can taste it but it definitely enhances the flavour of the meat 🍖
Did you have a link for the bone broth?
This is what I currently use amzn.to/3BgxNgz
Excellent!
Roughly how much sodium do you consume?
I stopped after pisding out of my bum for 3 days. Not good when your an electrician in a busy environment. Any tips? My freezer is full of steak and minces beef liver and my cupboards are full of eggs. I had pizza last night and I'm so annoyed.
Priming? Ie easing in to it may be beneficial
Hey man I'm starting carnivore diet but im not sure is it going to have any problem if i keep drinking my coffee
Not that much no. Depends where you are coming from. Auto immune issues? Go pure. Otherwise a bit of coffee won’t hurt.
I'm interested in what condiments I can have on the diet
Honestly whatever works for you, but does depend where you are coming from. Ie avoid anything sugary (if you mean sauces), and just be careful of herbs and spices. Small amounts likely to be fine.
Sugar in the ham and pastrami?
search engines are very much full of misinformation, as some say coffee is fine and yogurt is fine, others say the opposite. so depending on which link you click you could really go wrong, milk yes or no ? yogurt ? i thought the guide was nothing plant based so coffee is off
Great videos, thanks : )
Have you had any more leg cramps? Are you still taking the boron supplements?
@@Themeatmedic - I watched a vid the other day and boron was cited as a cofactor in calcium metabolism. It will be interesting to hear what Dr Paul Mason has to say in due course.
Here I thought I was the only person who enjoyed Steak cold.. What do you season your meat with? No one seems to mention it.
Salt, bit of black pepper, or just nothing.
@@Themeatmedic Interesting. No garlic powder? Game changer with allowing the salt to sit in the meat for at least 2 hours.
Where is the link to the egg poacher?
so possibly a silly question i know, but can you have the odd ice cream ,chocolate , potato chips every , heck even peanuts every now and then
Not silly at all. I think it depends where you at on your journey. If you are metabolically healthy, yes the very occasional bad food won’t hurt you, but if metabolically unhealthy or addicted to bad food it can undo a lot of progress.
@@Themeatmedic ok thanks Doc
Not technically carnivore but, we are not a cult and the Carnivore police won't come and take you away. Personal choice and achieving your metabolic health goals is the driving factor.
How many eggs do eat even as your taking the boron?
I generally eat eggs 1-2x a week, I don’t eat that many really.
@@Themeatmedic what is an ok amount of eggs I could eat while taking the boron everyday? Thank you 🙏🏽 so much for responding back.
@@DaveG-ur1wm I’m not sure there’d be any real limit. Eggs are pretty low in boron on the whole. Maybe 20-30 eggs would be the limit 😉
@@Themeatmedic thank you 🙏🏽 sir so much. I went and purchased boron from my local health and wellness store. The company is called blue bonnet (triple boron) one capsule is 3 milligrams so I’m going to take two capsules. Would you be able to tell if this is a Good brand from your perspective. Thank you sir.
What about kidney stones on carnivore? My family is on me.
It could happen on any diet, but one of the main reasons for kidney stones is oxalates. Oxalate dumping can trigger stones so a high ox diet and prone to stones it’s worth reducing slowly.
Shouldn't we avoid nitrate and nitrites in bacon?
It’s all relative. A tiny amount will do little to nothing.
What about enough potassium on carnivore? Thank you.
It can be an issue. Avocado is a good source if you are more of a ketovore. Otherwise electrolyte mixes, but it’s often about balance. Too much sodium will essentially reduce potassium. ‘Low potassium’ might actually be ‘excess sodium’
Mackerel is a good source of potassium.
Do you see yourself reverting to keto or ketovore at some stage in the future?
Unlikely. Mainly because I’m addicted to sugar and I just struggled with keto. Carnivore is so easy!
@@Themeatmedic would u be able to comment further on mould toxins? I notice that used coffee grinds grow mould within 48 hours. Hour my coffee beans are stored in the freezer and ground immediately prior to making the coffee in a French press. Not sure that toxins would be present.
@@1980mikeh it’s not something I’m super familiar with enough to comment much right now. I’m just aware of it. It’s a topic for future research (and an episode I’m sure), but for most people it’s probably not a major concern. For anyone with autoimmune issues or just not feeling right it could be significant.
Hi Doctor!
I just purchased the 2000kcal one month plan.
I'm on Keto life style for 3 years. The last year I have followed the keto flex regime.
I'm very curious in the carnivore diet so i decided to give it a try.
A quick question. The portions you suggest in the plans refer to cooked or unhooked food.
Thank you!
Doesn’t really make much difference cooked or uncooked. Just a guide. Doesn’t have to be exact. Appreciate you buying the meal plan!
Answer : meat
We want to know how much if each you eat 😂🔫
There is a reason you dont specify.
Give us a video of exactly what you eat a day in grams/calories
It varies so I can’t really do that. Some days it’s 3-4 ribeyes. Others it’s a few meatballs. I eat when hungry, till I’m not.
Tell me this videos a wind up...... Please !
I'll take a stab in the dark !! MEAT
Not wrong 😉
It dint help you with yr hair. But ok. You are forgiven. You'll save $ on haircuts, no? Then again you gotta shave the peach fuzz. So that might negate, that.
Bacon is overrated
My body want tolerate meat .
If you're a vegetarian you've most likely lost the ability to produce digestive enzymes, if you want to start eating more meat you can bring that ability back by slowly adding very small amounts of meat a few times a day until you're back to normal, I did this and it worked even though I have a low bile output.
creepy guy
Cold steak.... i just dont know, i dont even know if i have tried it lol
What about supplements doc or do u not need them? Just stick to more fat?
I don't love bacon...there I said it.
Sir, can I ask you how you still have a job going against everything your profession teaches?
