How did you get started on the carnivore diet? Did you have any issues or was it plain sailing? If you have any other tips and tricks for beginners then please post them for others to see.

I was eating keto for two years, with lots of spinach and lean meats. Ate one to two meals a day. Gained 20 lbs and felt and looked awful, bruised all the time and thought I had cancer! Then in Jan I went carnivore and bruising disappeared, I lost 20 lbs in 3 months, my skin started to glow, and I have so much steady calm energy. My mood change was most surprising, very calm and content. I also only need 6-7 hours of sleep a night and bounce out of bed refreshed. I do still drink coffee and have some gin with seltzer waters, doesn’t seem to bother me but I will continue to eliminate, I also supplement with magnesium and use LMNT electrolytes a few times a week if I feel I need a boost. A few nights ago I ate some chicken drumsticks with herb crust, felt like I was going to faint all the next day and had terrible diarrhea, sadness, and foggy brain. Felt like I had poisoned myself. I appreciate your videos so much and your experience and information are validating and motivating. Thank you!

Most of the benefit comes from taking away that last 5% of vegetables. I very much agree with that statement! I was keto from mid-October to the end of December. On January 1, I started carnivore. Within four days, my nightly muscle aches totally disappeared. Hard to believe. Toward the end of January, I accidentally ate a homemade hamburger that had onions in it. I figured, no big deal, but as it turned out, it was a major deal! That night, my muscle aches came back full force. I won’t be doing that again!

It really makes you wonder why the government do not want us eating meat, even going so far as to ban it like in Edinburgh. I want to try carnivore as I’m sick of feeling half dead on a daily basis, but I do worry how difficult it will become to follow with what is going on societally, the attack against farmers and phasing out good, healthy meat.

Thank you for your great knowledge. 🙏
I’ve been watching Dr Bakers videos for a while and I finally took the plunge at the beginning of last December.
I’m not on a 100% carnivore diet, but pretty close. I still enjoy one morning coffee with cream and sugar. I was drinking up to three a day, so it’s an improvement.
I’m nearing 60 and am 6’ 4” tall and weighed 285 lbs. Now I’m down to 252 lbs and feel so much better.
I plan on staying on my diet until May to see what happens. I think it’s going to be difficult to stop due to how good I feel and the weight I’ve lost.
I’m so happy to have easily lost some weight and I’ll never look at our eating habits again the same way.

Eating butter just as it is actually DOES look super tasty when you are hungry enough.
Mom keeps telling me a story how my dad had to work more than 24hrs straight, too busy schedule and when he came home he rushed to the fridge and ate butter as it is straight from the container ravenously. This was late 80s so there was not even gas stations open at night.
I guess he was "slightly" hungry :D
Also shows how body knows to tell you what it needs, it was not sugar, sweets or cow feed (salad) anyone goes for when they are truly hungry, they always go for the fattiest thing they can get their hands on. Every single time.

@ 21:30 An experiment in progress; Something causes me great back-stabbing cramp-like pain some mornings when I write or sit in front of the computer. Upper left back pain. Sometimes for an hour or two! It usually goes away when I go for a long walk. I figured it has to be either the fresh cream I eat almost daily (200 to 500g) or the chai tea (two or three cups daily...with a tiny bit of stevia). Today is the fourth day I'm drinking plain hot-water "tea"...whenever I'm thirsty or just want a comfort drink. No cramps/back-stabbing pain. I'm going to leave out the chai tea for another couple of weeks before introducing it again to see what happens. I'm still eating the cream.
By the way, daily food is pretty much always fatty beef of some kind and eggs. Or bacon and eggs. OMAD or 2MAD. (2ish pm and/or 7ish pm) Water and salt. Also by the way, the cup-of-hot-water thing really makes it easy to break the tea habit. I bet it would work for anyone trying to get off of coffee. 😉

@@NutritionistheanswerI understand the difference. I just wasn't sure which one you were concerned about. Parasites do occur more often with pigs. Probably the reason behind the biblical prohibitions against pork. But I don't know of any parasites that survive being fully cooked. You can get parasites from UNDERcooked pork and also off of cooking surfaces such as cutting boards that are not thoroughly washed after cutting raw or undercooked meat. Rare beef is way less dangerous than underdone pork or chicken.
You can also get parasitic infections from things like salad greens. Someone picking or packaging the greens doesn't wash their hands after using the restroom and there you go. Actually happens more frequently in restaurants than issues with meat.
I've had Giardia. It's no fun at all.

There is plenty of both in animal foods. Carnivores talk about electrolytes a lot because they can be very helpful when you are transitioning onto carnivore. The SAD eating pattern makes your body hold onto a lot of water in the tissues and when you first go low carb all this water is released. Electrolytes get flushed out (literally) along with the water. This stabilizes once you have been carnivore for a while. So, you don't need supplements on an ongoing basis but they can be helpful when getting started.

@@PM-4564 yeah I don’t think the difference is gigantic but it is meat dependent. I’ve had some grass fed that tasted 😩 some grain fed that tasted 👍 and a few of each that tasted 😱💩
I’ve become hesitant to try new butchers due to this. I listen to my taste - if it tastes good (sugar and chemicals are the exception) then it likely is good and nutrient dense. I’ve been eating mainly supermarket bought grain fed beef for the last 4 months and I’m doing very well. Could I be better on grass fed? Maybe, but my budget doesn’t quite allow for that. Maybe if I get more subs I can 😉🙏

@@PM-4564 The marginal difference between grain and grass fed matters less is ruminant animals such as cows because their multi-chambered stomach system filters most of the toxins out. In pork and poultry, having a naturally fed animal matters more because they are mono-gastric.
It's still only a marginal benefit. Think of it more as an optimization tweak that you can do if it is available and affordable for you. Don't let perfection be the enemy of the really great.

Can you eat chicken and fish?

    • @Themeatmedic
      @Themeatmedic  Год назад +3

I can, and do occasionally, though infrequently. I just find it doesn't 'feel' right. hard to explain, I just don't feel as good on them. Some are concerned that chicken has a high omega 6 content, and of course lacks the fat that we need. Fish some people are concerned about heavy metals and microplastics etc, and I'd only ever eat wild caught fish, and mostly small fish like Salmon. I just feel best on beef.

But why heat your meat? The idea to cook everything came from having to reduce toxins and bitterness of plants, seeds etc. But meat needs no cooking. Eggs need no cooking. This way they are much healthier. Organic, and grass-fed tastes awesome and is completely safe. The fear of bacteria is for profit, so the dirty commercial industry can produce filthy animal products. What about fish? I have been eating raw meat, fish, eggs... for 14 years. All the carnivore doctors speak of cooking. Why? When will one take the next step and stop heating the food. Also, we need to start demanding that meat is available fresh and not after hanging and draining the nutritious blood out of it.

    • @reallyshel

Because cooking makes food more palatable. Humans have been preparing food with heat since we discovered fire. It's not more or less healthy to prepare meat with heat. It's normal.
