At least these weekly concerts have given us a true celebration of Brent's talent during his tenure with the band.
Sure have. He was so damn great.
What's up hippie?😃 Meow!
loved Brent.
Couldn’t agree more. I never realized it till I watched these 89-90 shows
he was beyond talented and into it ... he really helped define that period of time
This band brings me so much serotonin and nostalgia. My dads been listening to Grateful Dead since high school so I’ve listened to Grateful Dead my whole life. This makes me feel like I’m 5, sitting on my dads lap while we drive his Tahoe down to the creek to go fishing on a hot day, and it makes me think of helping him fix old cars in our barn/shop, or riding down a dusty dirt road with no AC, or late nights hanging out at our shop. I’ll always and forever be a deadhead.😂
I love that!!! And so would Jerry and the band!!!
That’s friggen awesome I prAy 🙏 that one day..:‘my family hears what I hear !!!!
Same for me, somewhere near the forests beneath the Rhine.
Yea for u my fellow Deadhead ! ❤️❤️🌹🌹🐇❤️🔥🐰💥👽🪐☠️💀👻

Derek u have that rite ! There will never b another Jerry but this concert is so good ! ❤️🐰🌹🐇☮️👽🪐❤️🔥💥☄️👻😍🥰
They never touched the ground once they took off high steppin'
No doubt about that✨️✌️🇺🇸
That’s for sure more famous plus did more concerts than any other band ever ! ❤️🐰🐇🌹💀☠️🔥😵💫👻👽🪐🛸🚀☄️💥✨⚡️☮️🩵💛💚🩷❤️✝️ I loved all of them very much but after 10 years waiting for Jerry but when the time came I made him 20 minutes late to get back on stage but big Steve to me to get out because Jerry got so comfortable hugging me he didn’t want to leave me plus we both did a gram of my pure coke ! So we had to carry him to the stairs then Steve said he would never let me in again so I left but have no memory of that ! 😥🥲🌹🥀👻I told him what death was + that I saw ghost when I was younger so if he wanted to b earthbound to become a ghost he could ! So he did + visited me 5 times as one but I couldn’t c him but felt him ! The last time he came to me he lay on me + kissed me goodbye! My hearts been broken ever since he left us anyway but that was almost worse !

R.I.P. Brent, Jerry, Keith, Vince, Pig. Your music will live forever.
Vince who ?
@@bunnybeckman8029 Vince Welnick was the Dead's keyboard player from the time Brent died until Jerry died. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame as a member of the band, but he wasn't asked to re-join them after Jerry's death for reunions, which apparently upset him. He died by suicide in 2006.
@@joelberg3262I remember the day that happened. I think it was early June of 2006 and I was vacationing in Panama City beach FL. Such a sad story, awful day that was.
Robert Hunter too
Jerry's ability to control the emotions of the audience is unrivaled!
He was actually freaked out by that. I think that's why his stage banter declined significantly after the "retirement". DIdn't want to permanently alter some kid's life with an offhand comment about the monitor mix or something lol.
At times, he could get into some dark places during space....and lead you back out. Captain Trips, we're grateful to have known ya.
I'd say elicit more than control, but yeah ... pure magic!
I was there for all three nights. It was first known as The World, but now it's called Hollywood Casino Ampitheater, or something like that. Great shows, lousy venue, and fascist security guards who tried to stop people from dancing and having a god time. Thank God the band never played here ever again! (Even though Bob Weir did do a solo show a year or two later) Nobody knew these would be Brent's last shows. Thanks for posting and sharing.
I was at this show.
Brent singing an exceptionally soulful Dear Mr. Fantasy was sadly poetic and burned into my heart forever.
Brent was good that whole tour man yeah I was at that show I seen every show that summer and 89 at Alpine Brent hung out with us and bullshited and party little bit of course he had a couple real big gpd guys with them and Brent should have given his old lady the f****** hot shot not done it himself LOL

I was in the crowd that night. I remember it so well as sadly I met Brent M. between drums and space. He walked through the crowd with not a soul realizing, at least no one made an attempt to say anything. Not me......I said hey Brent I really appreciate all you do for the music! He thanked me, shook my hand and made his way in to the soundboard which was located immediately behind me. I have reflected many times about that night, for a number of reasons, but this was very close to the end of his Playing in the Band forever.
As far as this show goes watch the great highlights of Scarlet/Fire at about 1:14.00 Wier and garcia at their 89/90 peak was quite a powerful thing, and this was a good show. Earlier in the year I was at 3/21/90 & 3/22/90 in Hamilton ON, Canada where the boys blew the lid off that joint.
As always the show is in the eyes of the beholder quite literally!
Cheers to all my bus mates.
Listen to the river sing sweet songs to rock your soul.

The shows were crazy at the World theater. They were so not ready for the Dead.
So is Summer 20.
Spring too my friend that whole spring / summer run was epic. did most of each of those runs THANKFULLY and yes was at the beginning of spring end of summer. I tell you from 5 rows back in landover I could tell something was not well on the ship. Go watch that run. You can hear it too
Jerry we miss and love you, never saw anyone communicating with a guitar to an audience like you. Saw you over 500 times in concert between the Dead and Garcia Band shows over a thirty year period. You never ceased to amaze me .
Wow Joseph! I'm very envious of you, I only saw him 4 times and was at his last 2 shows, also in Chicago like Brent (The Chicago Curse?) Jerr's 25th anniversary of his passing is Sunday; which I'm sure you know. I sure do miss him...
Me too! (~);}
Whoa. That’s epic. What you must understand
Jealous .....I tasted paradise only once at the Knickerbocker in 90 ,but at least I heard that one ....any tall tales ??
Adirondack Trekking , I was lucky to work Backstage at a Jerry Garcia band concert at my friends college We help them unload all of the speakers and amplifiers and worked all day and then I met Jerry’s personal chef who was cooking in the back room and there was so much equipment you cannot believe it ,and then all of a sudden I turn around and Jerry Garcia is eating a paper plate of stir fry right in front of me.😳 He said “ Hey man, thanks for helping “and walked off.. The show was amazing and we were given shirts and made security!.. I was front row and remember Tangled up in Blue rocking so hard ans so loud that Jerry’s eyes rolled back in his head 🤣💥...I couldn’t hear for three days.
Jerry's smile.. PRICELESS
This was my first Dead show. Only had tix for the next night so we were outside, could hear so well. I remember the rain started pouring down during the Scarlet/Fire, Trippin in the rain. What a blast that show was. The next night was a great show too.
Glad I got a chance to see Brent, he was gone a few days later. There will never be another band like this one!
We were stuck on the highway, watching all the Chicago regular traffic jam sufferers wondering what hippie hellscape had descended upon them. 2 Nights later was my 21st birthday, the last night of Summer Tour, and Brents's last show (though none of us knew it then).
Yeah, that show was the first time I tried Acid. I was so lucky to be with one of the most beautiful girls in my school for that concert and afterwards!
Did the 90 summer tour and saw Brent's last show. That guy was a pure musician. Incredible soul. Very missed!
I caught 7-12-90 RFK this year. My 3rd & final Brent show. I was 16.
I did this tour too. It was the best and worst. Saw a lot of fights, gate crashing, ripoffs, busts, etc. of course the shows were always fun. But this was it for me. The last tour I did. Only saw them twice after. But the years I spent touring were some of the best of my life.
yeah the 90's brought a violence that was not there before@@Andrewtalksalot
This was my first of many Dead concerts I will NEVER forget what a great time it was
I was there , and I was crushed when I heard the news about Brent a few days later.

This show it's airborne during birdsong and never lets up. This is truly one of the great great Grateful Dead performances. I may be a little biased since I was there but damn.
No, I agree. Not biased at all, but then again, maybe I'm biased, too.
Pre-Birdsong is really good, too, but Birdsong welcomed in a magical night.
It's all good! ❤❤❤❤
Brent died just 5 days after this. What a bummer. He looked a bit out of shape but even though Jerry said he could see it coming, he did not look completely worse for wear. After this it really went hit or miss. RIP Jerry. RIP Brent. RIP Keith. RIP Ron. Long Live The Dead.

These 3 nights were the last from a killer summer tour...I was spent, I scored a 2nd nite mail order, in the 3rd row, in front of jerry. Thanks for the music. It has brought me back to you with memories of incredible joy and a few years shed but as always it's the music
I was born not far away from Chicago, Evanston Hospital and grew up in the North Shore of Chicago, Winnetka to be exact and love this music!!! At 63 years old now going on 64 Nov. 12th. Tinley Park is 20 minutes from Chicago and a very nice town. Winnetka is by the great lake Michigan and is rich as heck but a beautiful place to be raised and about 35 minutes from Chicago on Lakeshore Drive. In Thailand where I live it 12:38 P.M.
Great choice. Bittersweet, but a great choice.
My first show ,and I was 12 . I went with my mom, dad, and sister. It was such a special night for me . Looking back ,I bet my dad was pretty happy with the set lists for his daughters first show. I mean that Scarlett Fire was the shit , and Jerry during Hes Gone.
I've been listening to this once a year for years, and I cry every time. What a great show, and great memories. Lot's of goosebumps.
Didn’t get GD until I heard Touch of Grey-then I stumbled onto Scarlet Begonias-this magical melodic tune of ‘the girl, the flowers...the heart of gold band’-Jerry’s voice, guitar that sounds like a bell, the organ-all of it captured my heart. I can picture the west coasters just moving to this grove in Cali back in the good old days-it takes me there. In these concerts they go to Fire on the Mountain-another great jam.👌😎
I snuck a quarter keg onto City Island Harrisburg Pa for a Dead concert.. People tried to buy beer from me, but it was for me and friends only. My treat. We drank half during the concert. Afterwards we went right across the river and partied at a mansion right on Front St. along the bank of the Susquehanna River. Keg wasn't finished till the wee hours of the morning. JJ

Thank You to those that made this happen. It brought back some grate memories and funded a grate organization...... Long Live The Grateful Dead!!!!!!!
I like to think each “phase” of the Dead had it’s merits rather than try to compare them. “It’s all good” ‘cause it’s rock & roll!
As someone who came of age in high school in the mid 70's solidly in the Keith & Donna era, I've never understand the Touchhead era Bias towards Brent. He was certainly the right guy at the right time, Keith was a zombie by '78, but his playing was more Rock than Psychedelia, & songs simply Sucked (but so did Keith & Donna's & Vince's to be fair, but there were simply so many more of Brent's), & maybe I'm biased against him cause he was there for the worst of the Speedball Jerry era (84 - 86) & top 40 Cheez era (87-88). The GD certainly went on to at least another 13 months of top notch music after Brent's passing, it wasn't till after Bill Graham died Oct 91 they really started to fall off. Even so I'd rather hear 92-94 over 84-86
@@sideshowbob that's crazy
I'm still discovering new phases...
Here...Here! depending on the decade everyone gets what they like/want
@@sideshowbob Wow, Brent fans are "Touch Heads". That is sure a fucking reach. 78-79 sucked. They caught fire with Brent immediately and got better every single year until Jer's coma. You are probably the only person in the world who would prefer 92-95 to 84-86, as this was literally the pinnacle of their career playing wise. Brent was the best singer, player and band mate. The only things he wasn't good at was songwriting and self control. You are the one with the bias, not Brent fans. You have something against people who came on board after you did, obviously. That's probably hundreds of thousands of people. Simply put, your opinion is ridiculous and troll worthy.
Loved it for having attended with close friends who were experiencing their first show. Pretty sentimental and still so many enjoyable and quality moments! For me, the best of the Tinley run, especially as it was local for me at the time. A month later and me and the same college bud moved into a sweet greystone in Wrigleyville. Loved the Birdsong, and pretty much the entire 2nd set. Guiding my buds, I claimed there would certainly NOT be a Playin, yet we all enjoyed another one, directly after the last show at Deer Creek. Also, a post-drums Crazy Fingers?! This was a fine show to share with my friends and we attended several more until the end!
I was 19 at that show and had a real good time!
Thank you for such a wonderful series,forever grateful. I especially enjoyed the recent attention placed on the '89 and '90 shows. It was the summer I got onto the bus and to this day some of my most played shows. They were on a some kind of great roll at the time but as we came to realize in Deadland, Chicago seems to be quite often the end of the train tracks. Tomorrow is Forever. {{{{{>}}}}}
The original Motley Crew. I’ve heard Grateful Dead music over the years. I can see watching these shows why Dead Heads are a thing. It’s like a Holy Ghost Revival. Every soul is getting blessed differently at every meeting. No two concerts are the same. I’m jealous that I was never able to be a part of it. Not to degrade but I’ve seen Phish and Widespread Panic. The Holy Ghost don’t flow with them like with the dead. It’s a beautiful thing.

Brett Mydland, what a voice, great 80's sounding song at 38:00 mark. Beautiful cord progression and haunting melody, his voice suits it well. Look at the faces of the drummers while they're playing, it's intense and the groove is deep.
Not to be a dick and correct you but his name was Brent….. and he played keys. Perhaps you are confused with Billy (Bill Kreutzsman) no big deal but is funny because by the time the 80’s shows came about and touch of grey, that really killed us all a bit, stores started selling yarn bracelets and tie dies at department stores! Uff! I will say that some of the best live sets ever with Jerry were the Alpine Valley shows around 87? I dunno it’s a bit fuzzy after all these years but Tinley Park as a venue BLOWS! For a roadie or a fan, the audio throw major sux outta of that shed and there’s only one way in and out! For everyone! It’s a shit location, I dread it! Won’t even attend shows there when friends or crew are doing that venue…. It’s like “you’re playing Tineley….. catch ya down the road brother” lol.
@@NoLightsTillBrooklyn this video, you don’t have to go your dreaded venue.
Isn’t the fact that we have this good enough?

I was walking along in Greenwich Village, NYC. and someone in a little record shop came out and asked if I knew what happened to Brent?... I had just gotten back from the summer tour and had no idea what he was talking about. Very sad news indeed. I recall Brent had been carried onto the stage that last night in Chicago on his piano bench and we thought it was just a joke or something. The boys had been chipping and partying a bit from what the rumors were. Such a brilliant talent and I felt the band sounded at top of their game 89-90 and Brent was so powerful and skilled. Jerry and He had a special musical connection and it showed on stage. Thanks for sharing these special performances with us and a new generation of intrepid travelers.
Can definitely see the chipping in the videos summer 90. Music still perfect but vibe a little..... off. FUCK HEROIN
I wished Jerry could have talked him out of that speedball but then again he might have wanted one too. What a shame. RIP Both of them!😢
So sad that 5 days after this show we lost Brent. He was my favorite on the keys as he had an awesome energy and his connection to Garcia was palpable.
I loved him tooo!!! to bad he couldn't get the monkey off his back!!! BOOZE!!1!!!!!! I hate it, destroys so many families and lives. Including Brent's. Sad to me!!!! Peace to you n yours

@@reidpierce644 Yes!! For positive!! I’m very aware!! I graduated high school 1976!! So I’m lucky to be typing this lol man. The stupid sh#t we did. Not enough room to type. All that ruins families. Wish he would have tried harder dang it. Thanks for sharing friend. God Bless happy thanksgiving ❤️✌️🌹
@@rosebud1958 Happy Thanksgiving! Forever Grateful :)
@@Psyminds potato ! patato!! ✌️♥️💨 all good 10-4!!!! ✌️♥️
So good! Thank you so much for doing these Friday streams. We'll miss them and we hope you do some again real soon.
God Bless each and every one of you! I had an absolutely wonderful time shooting the Breeze with everyone and swapping ghost stories during these very trying times ☮️❤️🐢! Until next time all my ❤️!
There r such things as ghost , I saw them when I was only 3 years old ! I told Jerry about it because he asked me about death ! So sad of a man was he ! ❤️❤️🌹🌹☮️☮️☄️💥❤️🔥👻👽🪐🐇🐰🥰😍
I was there about 30 rows right in the middle. I am getting some serious flashbacks. What fun it was ❤
What an extraordinary concert this was....we looked hard for tickets all afternoon....found some....Haven and Phil (my twin brother and our friend) got in...then security said my ticket was a fake....i sprinted over the hopper (coached heavily by Haven and Phil) and ran up onto the lawn just in time for a touch of grey....unforgettable night! ... this video was just released a few days ago .... nobody has seen this before (I don't think)... thank you! .... i do wish camera had been on brent when he was singing but i guess it's cool to see what the other members where up to in those moments....and i especially love the crowd shots on camera....there is see so many of my brothers and sisters....much love to you all for eternity!
Underrated show - a fine “Bird Song.”
You only need to watch; Bret and Jerry we’re on the same wavelength!
Bret raged!!!!
I'm a simple man, I see Jerry smile...I'm happy :)
Dude, I've told many a newbie as I'm explaining what makes shows so different in quality: "Basically if Jerry's smiling it's a good show."
I love the camera angles and closeups. Thanks to all for this music and your care for sharing .
"Good Time Blues," "Tons of Steel, " and "Blow Away" were all favorites of mine.
This video right here is crazy good. Those close ups of Brent during He's Gone are so chilling. Good bless the good old Grateful Dead!
I always figured someone was lying when they said there was no video of this night. Taken me 32 and a half years to see the video and it had been about 15 years to find a good SBD.
Wow!! Great show!❤️💙
This was the best fire on the mountain 🔥🌋I’ve heard in awhile ! Love it so much when they were all together as one unit ! ❤❤
Excellent, thank you
Seems like the camera crew and live switcher drank some of the kool-aid.
Makes me sad that a few days after this.... Brent is dead. So talented.
1:38:30 - Jerry's Hula Girl really Shines - eyes all a-glowin'.
I really enjoy this video as there's NONE of that Pseudo Psychedelic Bullshit that just steps all over the jammy / psychedelic parts of just about every other stadium show video from that era - I love watching them jam, I DON'T want to see cheezy photo effects of Brent's Rolex for 5 min's.
I suspect due to the amateur-ish nature of the camera work & editing that this is the venue's production & not a crew hired by the GD (thus the lack of cheezy psychedelics too)
Some of my last Dead shows, good times.
I love the Grateful Dead.
Love it!! thanks for sharing!
Had a great time at this show...
Oh man, that high pitched screech that Bobby let out at 126:00 on FOTM made Jerry chuckle while he was singing, I laughed my ass off. It made my day.🙏🤠✌
Total bliss
I love how Bobby has traded the short shorts in for pedal pushers. Is there no happy middle ground?
Wonderful performances 🎉❤
Phil is really holding this thing together so tight
ws going to say the same thing. Love hearing hella phil bombs
Weird because I found Phil very low in the mix until right before Drums.
@@mkwilson38 actually, youre correct, i listened to the post drumes sequence before the other parts of set ll and youre spot on fam
Birdsong jam...very nice...Bobby trying his midi sounds....love it!
Oh my I’m dancing on my bed couch or whatever I can’t stop moving to this it’s so dam good ! I can hardly stand it , this is to good ! I love it

I'm blessed to have been to this show !
Whoa !
Where did the time go
I went to 17 shows. I never realized how important Brent was. He f...ing rocked!
Same here. I went to about 30. Was at these 3. Should have paid more attention to Brent.
Night one! Those were the daze! Hopefully this will restore my fractalized memory cells.
Luckily there too!
@Jeff R. I want them to do the deer creek '90 shows soooooo bad....
This video quality is insane!
