Music is my passion, it has been for the 40+ years I have been on this Planet and I have never ever listened to Grateful Dead and I cannot quite fathom what it is I am now discovering. This feels like a giant easter egg - hidden from my view until now, why, who knows but I can tell that I am going to enjoy going on this journey!! This is something else!!!
That’s amazing to hear. The Grateful Dead are a way of life. There are so many magical shows for you to discover. The different eras are cool because their music evolved over 30+ years. May I suggest the Double live Album “Without a Net” It’s roughly all from around 1990. A magical year for the boys. 71-74 just amazing, 77-80 probably their peak. Then in 89 shit got very good again. 89-91 some of the best Dead. Jerry was happy, he loved Brent too. If your in need of any recording recommendations, let me know
me2....was just on wrong coast!🎉 "Gonna Die before I get Old.", Well that didnt happen!!👋🌅😁... Almost 400 shows & I was 69 yrs 2 Weeks ago! Thanku & Thank your Dad.❤😂🎉🙍🕺💃🌹
I was following the Dead on this tour. I'm out there in the audience somewhere and the sounds come flooding back with the memories.. What an amazing show.
i don't think folks realize the amazing camera work and production thatwent into the '89 tour. The boys were on fire. The incredible sideways and up / down vectors we enjoy today in sports, all began here. grateful dead productions, while always ahed of their time, deserve a moment of recognition.
Looking for a long lost friend. My name is Kevin, Your name is John. I was your roommate during 1988, 1989. You owned an apartment on the west side of Boca Raton. You had a beautiful girlfriend that lived with us. I think her name was Dawn. She was originally from Jersey, you were originally from NY. You had an awesome pit bull named Brutus. I cant remember your last name but i owe you a hug and a thank you larger than words can tell. You took me on tour with you. I had no money and you exposed me to the most magical experience of my life. Everything I have in my life these days are a direct result of that experience. You are an awesome human being and i dont think i ever let you know what a positive impact you had on my life or had the opportunity to even say thank you. You took me in to your life and treated me better than my family ever did. I truly hope you are having an amazing life and are happy and healthy. I would be so excited to be able to connect with you someday and see how you are doing. I would love to be able to have an opportunity to somehow re pay you or give you some kind of offering that might impact your life somehow. I cant even imagine how my life would have ended up if you had not let me into your family when i needed it most. If you are out there, or if anyone knows who I am referring to please.....I need a miracle. PEACE!
@@evertking1 Not yet. Thanks for checking. This is my first true attempt in my search. I actually think sometimes things are easier to find when you arent looking for them. I just hope he is happy, healthy and living a great life. John is an awesome person that is full of love and kindness. I wish the best for him. Thanks everyone. Peace!
I’m 70 years old and never paid any attention to this band until this past august on the 25 anniversary of Jerry’s death. I’ve been watching these videos ever since and love these concerts. Love listening to Jerry playing guitar. Sorry I missed all those years.
Absolutely, he was a Beautiful Asset to the Dead. I was actually a little surprised when the boys didnt cancel any shows in the US when Brent died. I think they mite have canceled a show in Paris, but they picked rt up with Hornsby on piano, Then Vince pretty quickly after to add some of the depth back they lost w brent. Some of those following shows after Brents passing were cingin' kid's dreds off tho... Blistering shows in 91'
@@Tommartell73 I like Hornsby and know little about Welnick, but for me, I'll take Mydland. His gravelly vocals on, "I will take you home," just melts my heart; it's lovely. He represents the best essence of the Dead...love...sadly jettisoned by drug abuse. Something's missing without Brent and Jerry in this world...we sure could use 'em. Our only reprieve is that we have so much to still listen to in the vaults...
They needed two keyboard players just to cover Brent’s role. After Jerry of coarse. Brent was and still is my favorite band member. I love when he gets snappy organ sounds going with what sounds like Leslie speakers… so badass.
This was my era, between 1981, thru 1993, that I attended hundreds of shows, Yes, I'm late bloomer as compared to those who saw the best of the best. This is my life/soundtrack. I just weep, uncontrollably when I watch this video: over and over again. The Morning Dew Is incredibly, uncontrollably exquisite. Then you look at the spectacular (great job camera crew!) NFA, and remember the years-long magnificent interplay between Jerry and Brent, and remember the insipid, jag-off comment Jerry made when Brent died, and then you think about how they effed over Betty Cantor-Jackson, and countless well intentioned vendors. Just take it all into consideration. Or don't, and just listen to the music play.
Don't listen to the snobs. The 80s were great. Just different. They were more concise, less fluid. That certainly was a departure from their roots. But we don't eat the roots. We eat the fruit. The 80s were great. They were still the Dead. Just a different version than the 60s and 70s. ( 234 shows from 79-88)
As someone born in '99, I'm so glad shows like this have been preserved to be seen for years to come. While it could never compare to seeing the show live, being able to watch this is almost like a time machine for those too young to have a first hand experience of the Dead.
True true my frend... I was born in 69 so I was lucky to see the 80s version...but I look back to the 60s-70s dead in the same way as you...hopefully you've also found all the numerous dead side bands.......
I was born in 98 and I am also so glad as someone raised around there music because my dad has always been in a gd style jam band just keep the shoes a comin
i was at this! well, the second half anyway... got hung up at the border coming in from toronto, missed my friend who had my ticket, hung out in the parking lot until the bouncers kindly let all the stragglers in... great time
i was there as well i came from richmond hill this was mt second concert seeing the dead on july 4th the first was in 86 they were joined by Bob Dylan and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. "funny story", after the concert in 86 we caught a cab the driver asked about the show and asked if it was okay to play some springsteen we agreed and chatted a while, three years later same venue same date heading home we flagged a cab down the driver asked about the concert then asked if it was okay to play some springsteen,we all looked at each other and gasped "same driver" he even remembered us .
I am from Buffalo & was at this show! We are such a blue collar city & all of us cheered to these words from Jerry because we can all relate!! Test me, test me Why don't you arrest me? Throw me in the jail house Until the sun goes down Till it go down

It’s crazy how you can turn on some music and it automatically makes you happy and this is the dead to me. Thank you to everyone who recorded there live shows, I’m so grateful for you guys. The dead has brought me out of some very dark and depressing times.
I was at this show!!!! They opened the doors wide open for the second set! Sold grilled cheese for $1 and spaghetti (no meat) for $2! Also what I do remember most about this show was we couldn't wrap crystals fast enough to sell them for $10 on a beaded chain. Great times, best of my life!
It was my first, it was magical. Greatest 7/4 in my 57 yrs. This is the best sounding of any of the vids I’ve seen How bout the thunder then rain at 56:52!! Perfection
How fortunate are we who were actually at this show, how grateful are we all that we get to see and watch this recording? They never sounded so good, they were at the top of their game on that tour and this show was probably the best show on that tour. I was back at the sound board getting my groove on. What a show! I have it on DVD and many times over the years I've played it on my neighbor hater, 300 watt infinity speakers just for shits and giggles and when I need a lift.
one MY FAVS ever...FOR SURE....... I cannot tell u how many times I have heard this one, but at least 10 times so far, and I am not done with it yet , believe me....ITS GOT AT LEAST 100 MORE TIMES TO GO....for me...
I was 15 and ended up way up front. I'm not a huge dead fan. I grew up with bluegrass and am into more of Jerry's Old and In The Way stuff but I feel lucky to have been there. Especially for this show. The whole vibe was really good that night
You can tell Jerry was feeling this day when you watch him in Cold Rain and Snow, by his guitar playing, the little leg kicks around 17:10 and then the glasses push up like Clark Kent... you know he's about to turn into Superman..magical performance!✌️
Was at this show and several on this tour. Summer tours were different because of the stadiums. But were still a great time. My year’s touring with the dead were some of my most carefree and fun of my life.
I was at this show and it was life changing! During looks like rain, it began to actually rain on us and it was only for a little while. Lots of fire works after the show and we had to jump into my bus to avoid the bottle rockets that were flying all around the lot... Thanks for the memory and supporting such a great cause!!!
Awesome I'm glad you shared that, I believe what you say is true. I was born on 7 4 89. Funny how 30 years and a day later Dead and Co played that Cold Rain and Snow and well the rest is history. I did not know that.
Ok I’m just throwing this out for good measure, but the dead were classic for a non set list and if they think it’s gonna rain, they’ll slip into box of rain, or looks like rain or the weather report, just to spice shit up or enhance people’s trip. It’s all part of the fun. Glad you got to be a part of it….. they were some good times. Oh and re: bottle rockets…. That’s hilarious….. the golf course adjacent to alpine valley almost got burnt down one year because some dumbass tripping fool tipped over a coke bottle full of bottle rockets, next thing you know, it looked like Baghdad in the lot….. my buddy jumped a fence and put out the fire…. Unreal… only in a Dead lot does crazy shit like that happen. 🤪 Was not trying to rain on your parade (pun intended) but I’ve been to many a show over many years where it rains and they do that. It was still always amazing though. I’m not sure it changed my life but we had a hell of a good time!
I was one of the lucky ones to be at this show...and it was awesome. If I remember correctly, it got cloudy and started to sprinkle when Bobby started singing it Looks like Rain. I will never forget this show and the friends/family I found dancing in the streets, to the Grateful Dead... Thank you Jerry, Brent and company to all those beautiful memories....
This was my 1st show at age 19...My cousin had an extra ticket and it sparked a need to follow the shows until Jerry passed. Wife and I would sell silver wrapped gem and crystal necklaces at shows in the 90's...so glad my very 1st show is on vid!
What a great show, went with my buddies Chris and Dan, went to Bethel, NY the next month to hang out at Yasgur's farm for Woodstock's 20th and capped off the summer seeing Grace Slick and the Jefferson Airplane at the NY State Fair and then my daughter was born the morning after. 1989, what a year!
Awesome thanks. I was at this show and the 4 after. 2 in Ohio 2 in Albany. On the way to the show we got stuck in the traffic jam on the interstate. We didn't even care. We partied right there in middle of the road! If I recall correctly about 95 000 were inside and the radio station the next day said about another 300 000 didn't have tickets and were outside enjoying the music. I continue to be Grateful for the times I got to share with the band and it's extended family. Very cool to be able to see this show again.
Morning dew Europe ‘72 was it This.......all I can say is wow!!!!!!! Chills Thanks to whoever posted this. I don’t think that we will ever have music again like this until it all ends and then begins again
the difference in jerry's demeanor in '89 compared to say '83 is night and day. i love seeing him relatively clean and content. he exudes real joy in lots of shows from this era. just priceless and beautiful to see.
Oh man I saw the Dead around this time in Foxboro MA and Giant Stadium NJ. In the summer time when the sun goes down cool breeze blowin and thousands of screaming and dancing people literally shaking the entire stadium, we all felt the energy. The energy was incredible. Great music! They had a real deep soulful connection and their creativity just poured out and Brent Mydland played and sang his heart out. What a show!!
You guys were lucky there in the USA - you had (at least for a while) real hippies who managed to break through to the mainstream and make something happen... At least (according to Garcia himself) somewhere until 1969... Great band and divine music! Greetings from Poland!
Your comment provoked memories of my hippie days! To this day I reject materialism! And have always worked but always relied on the providence of a higher power to protect and provide
Oh we are still around waiting for a regime change and biding our time. Fish and farm practice the finer forgotten art of being freely recreational. Every day is just another opportunity to say fuck the oppressive powers that be.
Not for a while. Years baby, years. I loved touring ten years, so many friends I still talk to. When I fly back to Philly I'm going to see them. So many amazing shows. New Years was epic.
No matter what you are going through in this life and no matter what life shoves at you always know one thing. We all will die one day but those who listened to the Grateful Dead were blessed by the ancients and you can rest assure that you are in good hands for this ride. Enjoy and LIVE FREE!!!!! You get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right. Steal your face right off your head!!! Always GRATEFUL DEAD!!!!
This brings me immense joy while laying in bed sick as a dog from this cursed virus. Ship of Fools just came on and is such an apt song for what we as a nation are suffering through at the moment. God bless The Grateful Dead I loved you then I love you now and I ALWAYS will love you. I love you all
I was at this show, and the two in Albany. God I miss those days. Still go to Dead and Co. , and JRAD , but most of the time I just get sad at the shows because I miss Jerry so much. Actually met him twice, and was probably the nicest person I ever met. Zero "Rock Star" mentality! Peace and love to all of you......
A year into the damned plague, watching these has really kept my spirits up. Man, I miss live shows of all kinds, but these old recordings still do the job. This show has a great set list, and it's good to see Jerry smiling.
Oh you mean we had our 1st pandemic similar to a cold? Yeah. I've had Sars on off since the early 1990's just another virus nowhere nearly as deadly as whooping cough or RSV. Yet thousands of people in Marin County California decided not to vaccinate their infants and toddlers against whooping cough. Yep, over 20,000 died in a year
Around 1989 The grateful Dead was so instrumental to my spiritual growth it's unbelievable. It was so intense to be it shows during the later 80s to me I was just flying. I was learning and growing more than I've ever done in my life! So grateful to my creator that I was able to live through that and experience that I wish I could be going to my next show with Jerry and all right now! 😊👍
Keystone show. These are the quintessential versions of these songs for me. Hunter, Jerry, Brent and Barlow are alive again this moment. Power, grace, beauty and healing are all literally and concretely rolling out of this. Thank you for putting this out into the world right now. Wow.
Such a beautiful show ! I was lucky that I got to work on the reshoots for this show . It's just seamless what they did . Astonishing to have Jerry just walk up and say Hi . Something I'll never forget for sure .... I love these guys ......
the BEST singer the band ever had for sure, and he cranked it out on the keys like a true pro, a challenge for Jerry, and a delight for all of us ...I got to see the band 3 times, and all 3 times Brent was playing, I was SO LUCKY....Now it seems , I don't ever listen to the band online anymore unless he is there....
Brent was a real one for sure and there are many documented instances where his playing put that child like smile of pure joy and wonder on Jerrys face....
saw this show, went to niagra falls the next day with new friends, dropped two hits, got arrested at the falls for going too close to the water, 12 of us in jail, everyone pitched in to bail each other out, was supposed to go back to Vermont to work, went on tour with my new friends for a couple of years instead. Grateful Dead, thank you!
This was the first and only time I was able to see them. I will never forget how awesome of a show it was!!!!! Stadium was packed and one of the people we were with stayed in the parking lot counting stones lol
Brent tapping the mic with a nod to Bobby at 1:13:41, Bobby nods and steps back as Brent takes the verse instead. Jerry, a tad surprised, turns towards Brent and gives a big smile. A few moments later Jerry is twirling, strutting, jamming out and just making the entire world smile bright back at him
This has to be one of my favorite shows. It makes me happy to see Jerry smiling and having a lot of fun. It was a great time for the Grateful Dead. Perhaps some of the best of times.
You're not gonna get any upvotes for mentioning God amoung godless masses who push permanant masks for children and lie about our own breath. Make no mistake: these deadheads are devil worshiping cowards who push masks and lies and fear on children. They deserve to serve their master the devil.
@@brettmorgen9728 You got it, wrong bro. Deadheads have always been extreme anti-authoritarians. Dont lump deadheads into the same group as leftists. I can understand why you would do that but trust me, you got it wrong.
@@brettmorgen9728 so you never actually saw the grateful dead? OR if so then as part of a lets go get laid or find something fun not to dance within the hive trading sweat, the very air from our lungs, often road un-showered and little clothing. Sure one night at the fillmore auditorium for a rex benefit show I heard one guy talk about being there for devil. Why do I remember because it was so odd and out of place I wondered if he was a federal employee as Mountain Girl was on the other side of me and while I did not know many other attendants it was black tie event with lots of gift bags passed out. At every other dead show i was at I saw at least the Jesus bus with Joshua and a group of 12er's passing out their christian based printings. I never saw not heard of anyone holding a fighting reel with a devil worship passage on it like happened countless times with gospel texts. Your probably just ai bot troll, regardless what is sometimes referred to as the Christ conscience very close to if not the same thing at Dead shows felt by many as a group conscience. From this you could look at pagan history and say that some ritualistic behavior is to induce the group conscience, but that does not mean any attempt to seek awareness should be devil worship. Perhaps the closest group at a dead show would be the Nitrous mafia casting spells and creating illusions through the abstract complexities of logistical stratagem that rivals most modern attack forces, lacking in official capacity, using semi trucks to not just deliver but also as blocks for either side of the alley
They r the band that teaches us more than any teacher could about life ,love ,loyalty , friendship , + playing in a band for so long ! 💖💞🌟⚡️💥✨🕊️☠️💀🪽💞❤️☮️ they taught us peace among all of us Deadheads too !
Takes me on the Way Back Machine. To the late 60's, the Dead at the Fillmore, carpets occupied by the band and lotsa kids running around, their non-stop music floating on a haze of pot smoke. For the "heavy" price of $3.50 we'd just groove until dawn, straggling home, sated and happy to be Alive. These may, or may not be the "goodOldDays", but those were absolutely beauteous.
my first ever Dead show..I will never forget when the show as over and we were packing up and the couple camping next to us asked my gf and I "are you going?" I said where?? they said "the next show!!" it was my chance to follow them..I still kick myself in the ass for not going..
Thank you my good man, woman! This is one of my fav dead shows. Altrough -85 to Brent died, they were really good, thight and loose… happy. So, again, thanks!
Not a bad one to be at, no red rooster or feel like a stranger now that's a first show jamdown, enjoy. 89-90' were some great shows with jgb as well. Everyone be healthy, lets NFA...
@@nedrobinson7490 no my friend I love that tube and tripping my mind out at my first show having met jack Herer and what 15, going on 22, lol... I'm saying it's a must for the mind of a true cosmic Charlie to catch that and Lil red rooster on one's first show which I did, crazy o tell you. I saw Clarence Clemmons come up in 2011 for a further like show in boca right before he dies to come up and do sax on that, wow it was near like old days, just amazing. Sorry maybe typing fast and not proof reading I do that often. I miss community a lot that energy from Jerry first note errupting. Cheers
One of the best Dead videos I've ever seen. The audio is pretty decent (for a RUclips video), their energy is great, everyone's playing is spirited and spot-on, the band is tight, camera angles and editing are very good. Awesome ending, with the crowd going on for so long with "love is love, not fade away" after the band left the stage, and then of course the powerful US Blues to end it. What a show!!!
The audio mixing and mastering is great. I’m loving how the pans break it up in headphones so looking at the stage I hear the musicians where they were. Except for when they center pan Bobby’s mic and don’t pan Jerry right enough. We kind of lose his voice in the mix. Which I get is the point, but it’s masterful on the Jerry songs.
That whole not fade away to US was so overdone and so anticipated “bap bap” but agreed these were some of the best years and shows before Jerry passed.
😱 OMG. I am a Deadhead since the 1960s and still enjoy listening everyday. LMAO becuz I forgot the short short shorts. 💕BOB💞 thank you for the flashback.
To the angel who glided down the stairs with chimes or maybe bells and sprayed the back of my neck with a spine-tingling mist of cool water, sitting on the left aisle seat on Phil's side during the break, you made my first show even more memorable. And correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Rich Stadium seats 80,000 and there were over 100,000 people in there that day.
To hear this, to see Jerry Garcia at the absolute top of his game, to experience the wisdom and joy that the Grateful Dead bring to those who ask for a little bit of truth, who view life through a Grateful Dead lens of opportunity, chance, acceptance, and love, always love - is to be given a special gift. Brent was such a beautiful soul, and he was to be gone within a year, and we had six more with Jerry, but they gave us something eternal and - for me anyway - a way to live. How can you hear a line like "the ABCs we all must face to try and win a little grace" and not live a better life, and have the strength to stare down fools and their bullshit and say "not here buddy, not today?" They've had my back since 1969, and I live with gratitude for them 24/7.
Me too then I started to hitchhike to shows if they were closer enough because I’m from Maine who finally met all of them in 1980 on Mother’s Day ! But met Phil + Bobby in 1978 in Springfield Massachusetts plus ramrod put a Gratefuldead sticker on my jacket !
if you havent heard this show before you r in for a real treat! Make sure u chk out the NFA - sick jam between jerry and brent.-nuthin ive seen before ....and if u look rht before row jimmy u can see me holdin that big ole American Flag!!....thanks for a real good time!! Peace >..........
If you're in the video, even briefly, stop the video and get a screen shot. It'll take a few tries to get the exact location, but it's worth having. I took care of the Philly FLyers nets/ice during their stanley cup years...The day the won their first Cup, i was standing next to Kate Smith after rolling out the carpet for her. I found a video of the game and saw the two of us standing in the zamboni tunnel... Got a great, historic pic out of it. Although I don't think any Boston Bruins fans would care!
This was actually my first dead show and I didn't know about this tape until decades later. I was kind of a new casual fan and really only knew the greatest hits. It was a great experience and I saw a few more after but being able to relive this show, I have much more appreciation for it. Row Jimmy, Cold Rain, Deal are the best I've seen. Magical performance. I listen to this at least once a week since I found it in a out 2016
sasarese Nothing was like “The Summer of Love” we all came back from Monterey with “The Who” & Jimi Hendrix still blasting in our ear. And we formed “Bull Cheer”: you had to be there to understand. It’s a long time gone, but this is absolutely the best I’ve heard the boys since Europe in ‘72.
So true, one of the Best Bands Ever except for some Bob Marley and the Wailers, so glad I started listening 🎧 to the dead in about 90 when I was about 9 or ten then and I started with their first works back in the day, and worked my way through the rest, I had Every studio 🎙️ album made through the Columbia House 🏠 records buy one tape for a few bucks and get like ten more for a few pennies, ahhh I miss them days,
I was at this show. Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers played too and so did Bob Dylan. I had no idea what I was doing there. I was a punk rock fan. I had just graduated college and the Dead were a huge deal at my school. Some college friends came into town for the show, stayed at my house in Buffalo, bought me a ticket and dragged me along. I remember nothing about this show, except some funny little hippie trying to sell me acid in the parking lot. Discovering this video though makes me happy.
Petty and Dylan were there in 1986,this is 1989.I think Eddie Brickell opened. But I wouldn't know,I was in the parking lot doing lines of coke, drinking Ranier beer and scoring a strip of window pane. Ended up 20 feet from the stage in between Jerry and Brent. What a day.
I was here!!!! My Absolute Favorite Show!!!! This one changed my life and I have been filled with such a Glow and love of family and friends 🎉😊❤️. 19 yrs old and unaware that I just joined a family that extends beyond anything else 😊⚡⚡💀. I love y'all and hope you are well enough to still dance together 😊✌🏽😊
Fun to listen to a show you were at. Grew up in San Francisco & felt lucky to see them often. Lost count long ago. Was driving up to Tahoe for my birthday when J. G. Passed. Cried all weekend on I-80 as Sacramento stations played his music. Older now than he was then & I am Grateful.
This show is the perfect example of the Dead. A great dead show was like a movie of your life. The ups, the downs, the love, the disappointment, and the underlying feeling that no matter what IT WAS GOING TO BE OK! This isn't music. It's the embodiment of the human experience in the form of sound. This is the grateful dead and I'm blessed to listen to it. I love you all!!!!

Absolutely at the top!
77...excellent year for both the Dead and JGB!😊🎉
89' dead is the perfect band to me. Not a weak link in the group, everyone was having their own personal peak. Real cool shit.
You said it bro, Every song on Without a net are Perfect examples of sheer cosmic take over. ..& 'the Music Played the Band'!!!
I was following the Dead on this tour. I'm out there in the audience somewhere and the sounds come flooding back with the memories.. What an amazing show.
as long as they avoided Brent songs ;) Agreed tho my fave period still mid late 70s
Well, Mickey was always the weak link.
@@hammondOT he was the 2nd drummer I guess. Brent's demise was kinda more conspicious (gave rise to the Hornsby period in GD though)
i don't think folks realize the amazing camera work and production thatwent into the '89 tour. The boys were on fire. The incredible sideways and up / down vectors we enjoy today in sports, all began here. grateful dead productions, while always ahed of their time, deserve a moment of recognition.

Where is Vnce Vegas when you need him?
PEACE!
and my fair share of stories
dude this is why i love the grateful dead!! i wish you best of luck on your search PEACE to you and the people you love
Did you find him?
@@evertking1 Not yet. Thanks for checking. This is my first true attempt in my search. I actually think sometimes things are easier to find when you arent looking for them. I just hope he is happy, healthy and living a great life. John is an awesome person that is full of love and kindness. I wish the best for him. Thanks everyone. Peace!
Awww our fam fam is so awesome.... No piks?......
19 years old and the world was at my command. Now with a touch of grey, still getting by.
I’m 70 years old and never paid any attention to this band until this past august on the 25 anniversary of Jerry’s death. I’ve been watching these videos ever since and love these concerts. Love listening to Jerry playing guitar. Sorry I missed all those years.
seems like you missed nothing man. you got it now. love and peace and spread it widely without regard.
never too late George...dig in and enjoy

This is one of the best things I have ever heard.
You showed up right on time ⏲️⏳🕙 !!!!
Brent was such a special part to this bands history. You can tell how much Jerry loved playing with him
Absolutely, he was a Beautiful Asset to the Dead. Blistering shows in 91'
BRENT AND YOU VOICE FOREVER 😮💨@@Tommartell73
@edbstrung it's definitely those Leslie speakers brent was and always will be amazing
I was born in 98 and I am also so glad as someone raised around there music because my dad has always been in a gd style jam band just keep the shoes a comin

i was there as well i came from richmond hill this was mt second concert seeing the dead on july 4th the first was in 86 they were joined by Bob Dylan and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
I will go back in time ASAP

It was a magical tour
He was singing as well as I've ever heard him.
I hope he was... I sure was having a good time or 2x's...
One of the best to me. I used to watch how he smiled all the time and I love this one
This was my 1st Dead show. Saw them over 35 times with my last show at Buckeye Lake in Ohio. The years with Brent were definitely something special
I totally agree. Brent added so much to their sound. Such a shame when he passed.
Brother! My first show too! Managed another thirty-four after this. Not only with Vince, RIP, and Bruce after Brent, RIP, but also Santana and Branford Marsalis. Magic times.
It’s crazy how you can turn on some music and it automatically makes you happy and this is the dead to me. Thank you to everyone who recorded there live shows, I’m so grateful for you guys. The dead has brought me out of some very dark and depressing times.
🙏🇨🇦👊😉💖💯AMEN!
That's special. Your comment just made my day my unknown, yet friend 😊
It was my tradition to always get a grilled cheese and a coke (the kind your drink lol) after each show.
It was my first, it was magical. Greatest 7/4 in my 57 yrs.

Bought it on a whim buying cds in junior high 17 years ago...got me hooked right away. Had tried other shows but this one made me get it
I was 15 and ended up way up front. I'm not a huge dead fan. I grew up with bluegrass and am into more of Jerry's Old and In The Way stuff but I feel lucky to have been there. Especially for this show. The whole vibe was really good that night

Been my favorite show since I stumbled across the previous posting of this from our good friend Voodoonola while on acid back in like 2012.
You can tell Jerry was feeling this day when you watch him in Cold Rain and Snow, by his guitar playing, the little leg kicks around 17:10 and then the glasses push up like Clark Kent... you know he's about to turn into Superman..magical performance!✌️
For him, that's going wild!
There’s another nice little “Jerry’s rockin’ out” moment in Terrapin, and we get one if his elusive smiles to go along with it. 1:40:33

Don’t cry because it’s over, be grateful that it happened
It's OK to be a little sad that it's over. We were there. We miss it. That's OK.
May your future path be wonderful.
Hell yeah brotha

They’re kinda tears of joy, at how much fun the band is having, and how much joy they’re bringing to the audience.
How did you know I was sitting here crying on December 4th 2024! They are tears of joy though Really😅
Just like another gentleman said. On the porch with my wife, put this show on and her only words to me were......turn it up...loud.
That’s a good woman!!
I was there too and your recollection is correct, it did start to rain during It Looks Like Rain. What a long strange trip it was.
The Dead always added a little extra love to these Buffalo shows.
A magical place to see a show. Always an awesome time in the parking lot.
I was at the state fair for that show! Back when they had mostly good concerts. Tom Petty, Ziggy Marley, to name a couple more. Good days!
Damn, guess you had to grow up after that summer off.
How am I supposed to take anything seriously in this life 😂😂😂😂

Oh man I saw the Dead around this time in Foxboro MA and Giant Stadium NJ. In the summer time when the sun goes down cool breeze blowin and thousands of screaming and dancing people literally shaking the entire stadium, we all felt the energy. The energy was incredible. Great music! They had a real deep soulful connection and their creativity just poured out and Brent Mydland played and sang his heart out. What a show!!

Oh we’re still here and there
We're still here.
Brent was a real one for sure and there are many documented instances where his playing put that child like smile of pure joy and wonder on Jerrys face....

Brent tapping the mic with a nod to Bobby at 1:13:41, Bobby nods and steps back as Brent takes the verse instead. Jerry, a tad surprised, turns towards Brent and gives a big smile. A few moments later Jerry is twirling, strutting, jamming out and just making the entire world smile bright back at him
Yup you can tell Jerry is buzzing off it, what a great voice Brent had.

@@ryan225360 haha I love it that u understand the pans…. I’ve worked in many an FOH and not everyone just understands or really appreciates a mix…. 👍
4th of July 89
If I remember correctly 10000 maniacs opened, when Natalie merchant was still with them
I was 14 years old at this very show!!! My first concert ever and what a way to start!!!!!
Love you all, so glad I can find the music. 👻 love the dead...
Yes 70 things are so diff but hav to keep trucking for the blues
You are on
Me too then I started to hitchhike to shows if they were closer enough because I’m from Maine who finally met all of them in 1980 on Mother’s Day !
K KARLSON I saw you!!! ✌️💀🌹⚡️
Seen! haha.. I was there running all over that field!
@@photosfromphilly hell yea brother, go flyers PEACE
Yeah just stumbled on this gem 😭
As a 50 plus years Deadhead, I have to admit I appreciate Brett more watching these shows on here than in real time!!
One of the best concerts I’ve attended from my couch. I mean, holy shit they were on the whole concert. A true masterpiece!
I listen to this at least once a week since I found it in a out 2016
Brother LOVE.
They were closer to the summer of love in years than we are to this show.
Good point. We're old.
Let's get back to the garden.
What a long, strange trip it's been. Indeed!
sasarese Nothing was like “The Summer of Love” we all came back from Monterey with “The Who” & Jimi Hendrix still blasting in our ear. And we formed “Bull Cheer”: you had to be there to understand. It’s a long time gone, but this is absolutely the best I’ve heard the boys since Europe in ‘72.
Nothing on earth like a Grateful Dead concert !!!!!
So true, one of the Best Bands Ever except for some Bob Marley and the Wailers, so glad I started listening 🎧 to the dead in about 90 when I was about 9 or ten then and I started with their first works back in the day, and worked my way through the rest, I had Every studio 🎙️ album made through the Columbia House 🏠 records buy one tape for a few bucks and get like ten more for a few pennies, ahhh I miss them days,
That's right! And there never will be again.
Sitting with my wife listening to the good old grateful dead!
Far out
on my dining days this is one the best jimmy row makes me know it is all right
I was there❤❤❤
Wish I was but I always hit the like button !
One of those great later works by the Dead. Those people with thumbs down, just don' t understand.
No words...Just one of many shows that makes you feel good. 89' was special year❤

Mooooove over? No thanks. Keep on , keeping on. Thank you.
Sincerely,
JD McKinnon
Live in Buffalo currently and man not the same since the dead was trucking up here wish I could have been alive
I'm a 12 minute drive down the road from this venue right now! East Aurora, New York 💚 This community loves the Grateful Dead
Got you beat. I live fewer than 3 miles away in Hamburg. I can walk there.
Amherst...
Lots of 4th of July memories over the years at this venue !
Me too.
There are 15,000 people watching this livestream on 04/10/2020. In twenty years there will be 15 million watching.
It was up to 17k at one point! 👍
What a day.
My ol lady was there with her 3yr old kid. He saw 100 shows before he was 4!!!!! That's kick ass
Love how the band is just there, Ykno !?? Just getting ready to play. No gimmicks no hyping up the crowd. No showboating. Awesome!!!
2:24:40 Love the dynamic of Jerry and Brent playing off each other during NFA! It’s like they’re having a friendly conversation via their instruments
Totally
Really special and feels totally spontaneous , magic
I was here!!!! My Absolute Favorite Show!!!! This one changed my life and I have been filled with such a Glow and love of family and friends 🎉😊❤️. 19 yrs old and unaware that I just joined a family that extends beyond anything else 😊⚡⚡💀. I love y'all and hope you are well enough to still dance together 😊✌🏽😊
Best darn family in the world!!!
