Another tasty treat. Looking forward to it and thank you always. Hey now 77❤🎉, what a great year. Feel old, 1976 the year I graduated high school. peace ✌️ and love ❤to all y’all out there.
@@brad5392 we are all expressions of God's love, I know what Stef means, it's all good. There's a reason why tickets to shows were often referred to as tickets to church. Peace, friend!
@theseventyseven77, thank you so much for the Post! You've been posting several tasty nuggets again lately, and I for one am truly grateful!!! Thanks for all you do! ✌️🍄🌹🔥😎
Thanks to you the seventyseven77, I’ve experienced shows I missed before I got on the bus in ‘86. Cheers to you as an archivist of masterpieces like this show. 🎉
Just started listening. Such a soulful Cold Rain and Snow to start, a love song and a lover’s lament. Love everybody’s playing, but especially Keith’s in those ancient halcyon days. Followed by a chicken scratching Big River. Wowza and thanks for the low down download. ❤
I was there. I remember nothing but that I had a great time. The thing about the dead is that I felt as if I were part of the musical creative process. No other band had this effect on me. We will all be reunited some day under the best of circumstances, and reader, we will high five...
@Northstar8765 I always thought she sounded much better when she wasn't high and it sounds like she wasn't high at this show or at least just slightly high . When she is not high she has great pitch but when she is really high she has alot of trouble with Pitch but cocaine does that to any singers pitch. That's when her pitch gets shaky and quavery . When she isn't high she doesn't have that problem. Cocaine is the worst drug to be on when trying to perform or make music. It's horrible even when you are just trying to play an instrument by your self. It makes playing music alot less enjoyable. Phil once said being high on cocaine made him hate playing music
I lived in NJ for a few years, while driving a taxi. I always drove by the capitol theater in passaic and thought about how great those shows must have been. I have this show and a few others, from there on tape. But it's still awesome seeing others enjoy it, even if it's only online.
I can finally say it, "I was at this show" & the 18th & 19th too. Still have the tix stub. Jerry was playing a white Travis Bean guitar which he also played for a few years with the Jerry Garcia Band. Took numerous b&w photos which are on my wall. I'm especially happy you posted this as I have no memory of any of the shows. It was 48 yrs ago!!!
back in those days, people who could afford a camera , film, and developing the prints , were few and far between in my circle of friends , i never had a camera til my first kid came along around the late eighties
He played that guitar for all the late winter and all of the spring 77 shows . He switched back to Wolf for the Grateful Dead fall 77 shows . He seemed to keep playing the Travis Bean for the JGB shows for awhile after he switched back to wolf for the Dead shows . His guitar sound when his Gibson SG was his main guitar will always be my favorite with Tiger being a close second .
HIGH HO!!! way to go! - really love the nuanced capture of the tracks in Cold Rain and Snow... have a special place in my heart for that song. Long live the Dead! Peace ya'all!!! (Thanks 77!)
Looks like rain can always do it for me when I'm in my deepest depressions! The worst was being stuck 3,000 Mi away with a broke down car and no money! It took 45 minutes of the Dead to pull me out of that one! God Bless The Grateful Dead for keeping me alive this long!!

I am beyond grateful for your efforts to upload such excellent shows no doubt about that. But please for the love of all things good and true turn the advertisement knob down about 10,000% I listen to nothing but the grateful when I commute to and from work by bicycle and I live in rainy Cascadia so unzipping my pocket with gloves on to pull my phone out and take a glove off and then press the skip button, then put the wet phone back in pocket and zip it up and then put glove back on, then continue riding gets VERY OLD when it happened so frequently. In fact I have made a pledge not to buy any of the things that interrupt my blissful jams. So I beg of you ixnay on the adnays. It probably isn't really legit to profit from these recordings anyway unless you're gdp so have mercy on those of us out here in the cold rain and snow!!
It could just be the encore didn't get recorded that night. It happens alot with Soundboard recordings. There are many board tapes by many bands that don't include the last song or 2 of the night becuase the reel or cassette ran out at the end of the show and often the sound engineer would say screw it I'm not going to bother with a new reel or tape for the last song or the encore especially with a soundboard recording. They were seen as all that important because they were not true professional recordings and were not being made for official release . They were only seen as reference tapes so nobody really cared if a song or 2 didn't get recorded
Honestly, not one of their better shows if you listen carefully. God bless em’ though! - not the best of the Grateful Dead, But I love em’ always and forever❣️❣️❣️
I find almost all the spring/summer 76 shows to be a bit loose and rough around the edges when you listen to them more intently. They did a 3 night stint at the Passaic Capital theater and all 3 are a bit off . The instruments are not quite in tune with eachorher .but the biggest issue I have with the spring/summer 76 shows are the drums .. The tempo and groove are very sluggish and I have always wondered if Mickey wasn't really playing alot of drums for the 6 years he was out of the band and as a result was really rusty. The drums were so much tighter and lively in 77.. They band as a whole were much bettet on the fall 76 tour.

i can't remember which guitars i saw him use , or too much else from most of the shows , the partying was aa much a part of it as the music or moreso
