      @DrTomMD 5 лет назад +1

I know you guys are into the polyrhythmic heavy tunes from TooL. But go back to raw and listen to Jerk Off (live) from their first EP. Full on adrenaline (and yes, anger) and raw catharsis. Otherwise, yes - Eulogy, Hooker with a Penis or better yet, Rosetta Stoned😉

Yes! Defiantly listen to Parabol/Parabola, amazing journey! One of their best songs IMO. And its has that lateralus type sound you guys love. Also off the lateralus album If want to hear an amazing drum performance, listen to ticks and leeches. Also Jambi, Right in two, Rosetta Stoned off the newer 10,000 Days are also amazing.

i can't argue that. when it first came out, i used to carry it around in the cargo pocket of my pants, in case i encountered someone who had never had the pleasure of listening to it. lateralus is my second favorite album of all-time, ever so slightly behind opeth - still life. they are both perfect in my opinion.

Off their last 3 albums, it’s almost universal to rate most of those songs 10s and 9s. They are on another level.
Do Parabol and Parabola together. They’re sister tracks that can be listened to without the other, but are incomplete without each other.

Been listening to Tool since I was 16 in 94’
Carey, Maynard, Chancellor and Jones are constantly evolving in their musical ability. We are all one in the same. Nobody is more important than anyone...leave the ego somewhere else...stop pinning over insignificant things that are out of your control. Learn to think for yourselves and grow as a person positively, also drop the pessimistic ways and the over analyzing of everything in your lives.

Speaking of Tool polyrhythms I love picking out a rhythm early on in one of their songs just with my hands and trying to maintain it throughout the entire opus as it ebbs and flows. Very difficult to do but eventually that rhythm will eventually resurface in the music and catch up at the end. They are endlessly fascinating in every possible way musically and lyrically.

By the way, Disposition/Reflection/Triad is still ahead of you. You will love it! Do them all in one take! Aenima is from the Album "Aenima" ;-) wich is their 2. Album. You can really hear them "evolving" during the albums. Aenima has still a bit more dark, raw sound to it, what makes it different to Lateralus. Disposition/Reflection/Triad is from Lateralus and it's a beautiful masterpiece.

Nice to see the younger crowd listening to Tool. Most of the song is in 5/8. Of course, Danny is doing a 5/8-3/4 polyrhythm for a lot of it. Tool is eternal, their music will live on like Bach or Beethoven. If you want technical, Listen to Lost Keys/ Rosetta Stoned...that's an insane 17 minute long acid trip of time signature changes and tempo changes. If you're looking for the most emotional Tool song(s), IMO, Wings for Marie ( part 1) and 10,000 days (Wings part 2) another 18 minute epic detailing his mothers 10,000 days (27 year) struggle. There is a 10,000 days fan made lyrical video on youtube that will make you cry, if you're human that is ;) Ticks and Leeches for more technical, fast, drumming. But yea...the Grudge is among my top 5 Tool songs. Can't wait til August 30TH!!!!!

Hilarious! I mow my lawn to this and to Gojira....nothing wrong with stopping mid yard work and either headbanging or screaming with Maynard!!! You guys are AWESOME reactors to Tool. Your eyes tell it all....

Wow 😮 Shit like this just grabs you by the fucking balls and takes you with it. That’s one of the best Tool songs I’ve heard. BRA-FUCKING-VO!

TOOL are the gods of prog metal for sure. Check out The Pot or Triad next. You guys should also delve into some more of the prog rock bands that paved the path that led to them. ELP (Karn Evil 9[all three impressions], Trilogy, The Endless Enigma) or some Genesis would be a good place to start. Great reaction!

Have you heard the cover of the Pot by Brass Against. The horns and the the Lovely lady singing are worth it.

mustache guy reminds me of a guy I used to work with. He convinced me to take acid for the first time and also had me listen to pink floyds dark side of the moon, at work no less!. He covered my work while I sat back in some hay bales and hid from the boss(feed store). It was pretty awesome.

15 seconds in the video, I already know you both are absolutely gonna LOVE this track. I was one of those who voted on this track :D
EDIT: As expected :D The groove on this track is just something else, especially the bass in my opinion. I knew the last 20+ second scream was gonna blow your heads up :D

The look on their faces after the 30 second scream is pretty much what everyone looked like after hearing it.

Honestly, Tool isn't bad. I love the lyrics to this song and the scream definitely had me SHOOK! I don't love this song as much as you guys, forgive me, but I would definitely watch another Tool reaction video in the future (maybe even check out more songs myself) because I like their sound!

Still hoping you check out some more songs off Tool's Undertow, do title track or Swamp song, 4° or Bottom or you know, just whatever. Think you've done Sober already. Love your reactions btw, your reaction to THE SCREAM pretty much mirrored the reactions of the rest of us 18 years ago.

Hey Guys! Glad ya'll are falling down to Tool hole. Couple of suggestions: For a relaxing/groove packed epic try the "Disposition"/"Reflection"/"Triad" combo. It will blow your mind. For more amazing musicianship and song construction go "Parabol/Parabola" (personal favorite - lyrics are amazing). For an emotional gut-punch listen to A Perfect Circle's "Judith" (About Maynard's crippled mother) and then do Tool's "Wings for Marie Part 1&2" to see how much a man can change.
