      HEY GUYS! I confess I had NO CLUE who TOOL was.....never heard of them. But I gotta say I really liked this song and this band. These guys are obviously very talented and sort of reminded me of the journeys that RUSH would take me on. Good review also! I would listen to more of this band in the future.

    "We need your help, and your permission. So we need you to find a comfortable space, that's not only comfortable but vulnerable. I want you to shut your eyes and go there, and we'll meet you on the other side (echo)..." - Maynard from Pushit on Salival. Great one!

      Eulogy was the first tool song i listened too and my god it literally is a display of probably the best musicians in the world. No joke and i can’t think of another band with the talent everyone has in this band besides Rush and Led Zep.

    • @matthewkologi6833
      @matthewkologi6833 4 года назад +2

      I listened to Eulogy on repeat for about 6 months every time I got in my car in 1998. I got sucked in and refused to listen to anything else. After 6 months, I allowed the cd to move on to the next songs. Then, I got to Aenema, and I hit the repeat button again for another few months. Don’t get me wrong, every song was amazing, but those two awoke something in me. I went from being just a big Tool fan, to completely obsessed. I bought Salival, just as a way to hold me over, only to lose my mind over how insane it was. I stood in line for hours to buy Lateralus at midnight on the day it was released. I was not disappointed. I bought 10,000 Days in Kyrgyzstan, on my way home from Afghanistan, and it helped me cope with a lot of loss and sadness. Now, with Fear Inoculum, I’ve come full circle and it has again allowed me to feel a lot of joy and positive introspection. No music has ever reached me like theirs, and I seriously doubt anyone else will even come close.

    Schism had been around for awhile when the album was released, but after that this was the first song(s) I found myself wanting to come back. Still get serious chills everytime from "Aliiiiive...", not to mention how F! beautifully and delicately the Parabol segment is executed. You will really appreciate how Parabol follows Schism once you get around to listening to the whole album.

    Bands like Pink Floyd, Grateful Dead and The Doors, and now today’s generation “TOOL”, they all really took/take you on a musical journey and tap into your subconscious. It’s not about being “rockstars”, it’s about the feeling and deep emotions, things you’ve never thought about and thinking outside the box and Those aspects of music are way more important.

There are a whole lot of really cool parts that you don’t really catch the first time you listen to it only because there is so much to listen for. Like you were saying, y’all will definitely begin to appreciate this song a lot more the more you listen. I found myself listening to it a few times then kinda putting it away, and the next time I listened about a week later I already knew what to except and it made the experience even better than before

Songs are shorter but killer and raw. Maybe Cold and Ugly or Jerk off, both are live and kick ass. Play them both back to back. Also Please check out Black Diamond from KISS 1975 promo. I listen to and watch a lot of reaction channels. You guys are moving up the list of must see. I pretty much drop what im doing when the notice of one of your videos goes off on my phone. Anyways, would appreciate you guys do a reaction to vicarious by tool. As I said I watch a lot of reaction videos but very rarely have I found one that has done vicarious. If you could give that song a listen I'd appreciate it

      Danny,the drummer is the source of the middle eastern instruments.His drum teacher got him to use tablas,Indian drums,you can hear that in Right in Two a lot.Also these 2 songs are as unique as it gets in my opinion.It is kinda more raw compared to other songs on Lateralus but it is because they want you to get the message clearly.This song is about celebrating life,and knowing youre not alone which is rare as hell in metal.

    There needs to be more reactions to the new song Invincible. There are really good live versions of it out there especially the 4k one in berlin, germany. Everyone that has reacted to it reacted to the very first version released with all the fans talking over it. Absolutely amazing song....

    Hi there, you must check out this video: "Smoke on the Water with Queen, Pink Floyd, Rush, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, etc". Because there are more bands there you don't have an excuse for this not to be on top of your list because this would satisfy many bands' fans from your viewers. ^_^

    Okay, I think I'm a Tool convert... Almost. Alex, thanks for pinpointing the opening vocalizing. I was thinking India or Tibetan flavor. Truly, I think I could listen to the singer do a free flow vocalization, without words and still have the same effect? Could be wrong, but the music is so powerful... No words. Thanks for the intro! Peace.

    I'll admit at first, I first I wasn't a huge fan of the song, but after taking Alex's advice of closing my eyes while listening to the song, I DEFINITELY liked a lot more. As soon as I opened my eyes, I was like "What just happened, where am I?". I love the bass riff in the beginning and the drumming was fantastic, who knew people still drummed like that in the 2000s?!?!? But I also liked when Alex brought up how the mid-western and south African harmonies reminded him of his father because it just shows how powerful music really is and we can relate it to our daily lives. It truly is amazing! With that being said, can't wait for your guys next reaction. When is the next weekend podcast by the way? Because I really enjoyed the last one and I'm looking forward to hearing what you guys will talk about next!

    • @lateramae
      @lateramae 5 лет назад +1

      @@andyandalex I totally agree, I feel that when listening to music, closing your eyes helps you get into the zone. Oh and for the podcast, take your time. I won't put you guys "under pressure", haha get it? :) But like I mentioned before, I bet an old music verses new music topic would be a cool debate (maybe 70s - 90s vs. 2000s - present or something like that). I originally wanted 70s vs. 80s music but so much has happened in the music industry since then that it needs to be talked about! Alex suggested a classic vs. modern music.

  • @sicko_the_ew
    @sicko_the_ew 5 лет назад +2

    My first time hearing this, too! Agree with the idea of just letting the music carry you along. The time (if ever) for getting cerebral/ analytic about a song is after it's gotten in your bones. So with music of this depth, there's no real need to accurately place it among the others.
    (Actually a fine-tuned rating system is a bit of a trap? Just a thought that has come to me on the fly. If you had a scale from 1 to 5, it would probably be adequate, even. 1: something in my died because I listened to this - my day is ruined. 2: not great, but I'll survive. 3: adequate song - reasonably nice. 4. Yeah, that does something for me. 5. Wow! Up there with the best first impressions a song has ever made on me.
    And that's another point. Remember it's a special kind of rating: the first-impression-rating. There are some songs that are too subtle to become a favourite first time you encounter them. You need to wait a year or so before giving them their initial rating.)
    And I think I have to suggest that you do at least one reaction to Najat Aataabou (maybe one of those "let me show you a song" reactions you guys do?). Some of her music translates well across genres and cultures, etc. And she has an interesting life history. I'll go find a nice long one and post it as a reply, in the customary manner.

      Here's a song it would be quite normal not to fully appreciate first time round. It takes a bit of time - several listens. Really, you have to follow the lyrics in at least the second part, to get what's producing the "rhubarb rhubarb" human-voice-noise there, for instance.
      (And yes, they are a pretty good band. Steven Wilson thinks so, so if you don't much like them - yet - you're wrong. ;-) ... just keep trying and you'll get there in time).
      *Cardiacs* again. And the song is *Jitterbug (junior is a)* ruclips.net/video/b4j6q1Svf30/видео.html

      And here's a nice gateway drug to get you hooked on Mr. Bungle. *Goodbye Sober Day* ruclips.net/video/MO2bM4sgE1E/видео.html
      All vocals by a certain Mike Patton (and that's just where the genius of this begins). "Genius" has become a cheap word, but I'm using the expensive version of it, here. The only complaint you may have is that it can be too much. Mr. Bungle is certainly one of those bands that carpet bombs my brain down to rubble, often. Careful with the dose, then.

    • @sicko_the_ew
      @sicko_the_ew 5 лет назад

      The other genius (expensive version of the word, of course) you need to get into at some time is *Frank Zappa*. Here's some reggae from him: *Treacherous Cretins* ruclips.net/video/gpeyGfBF9lE/видео.html
