    Well gerry if your planning on getting a new teleporter over next few years would you consider maybe a pivot steer loader? Maybe one of the old jd ones or if you want something newer like a jcb tm320, personally I'd be tempted to have best of bothcworlds that way, but if you wanted a regular one, merlo make great nimble compact machines with great reach, matbro made great machines aswell but newest ones must be 25 or more years old. Anyway just my thoughts, great video btw.

    Would you ever see yourself getting a silage wagon and doing away with the jf ?

    • @gerry6420
      @gerry6420  2 месяца назад +1

      I like the idea of a silage wagon, would reduce the amount of man power need to put in the silage down to 2. the problem with it is cost of a good wagon. For a good one. It wouldn’t justify it to lift our acres. The jf is a cheap way of doing it. We have the trailers and tractors. We hire 1 man with a trailer and a friend drives his tractor with another trailer and we do his in return. So it don’t cost us much. In future u never know. But for now, the jf is working out well

    Hi Jerry , you have a small to medium suckler farm 50 cows yet allot of shiney metal and that brand new 215 R and now talking a bout a second new loader , question is how the hell are you doing it ?😮

    • @gerry6420
      @gerry6420  2 месяца назад

      150 acres of tillage…,Finnish 300 beef a year. Over 100 young stock at any one time, 70 acres of hay amongst other enterprises , do all our own work other then combining but only 50 suckler cows pays for anything . Yea. 😂👍

    • @rangecomand
      @rangecomand 2 месяца назад

      @@gerry6420 I see do you rent the 150 acres or is it owned , 300 beef cattle is good going but you must buy in at that rate and that ain't cheap and to finish them 🤔 tillage guys are on the bread line if you were to believe everything you hear, and they maintain they need all this money they can get for straw and the money from the government to bale it , its a joke farmers ripping off farmers or are tillage guys a cut above the rest 🤔

    • @gerry6420
      @gerry6420  2 месяца назад +1

      I think of anyone. Tillage farmers rip other farmers off the least. They are price takers. Market reflects the cost of grain and straw. When round bales wasn’t making enough to cover cost of baling, turning and loading. I didn’t see other farmers giving extra to help tillage lads out. Now when it’s 30€ a bale out of the field you want them to take less. Bit naive that. If your selling cattle yourself, or sheep or what ever u have, do you take less then their worth in the market at the time or get as much as you can?

    • @rangecomand
      @rangecomand 2 месяца назад

      Market reflects the mess the government made of the straw market on top of a bad year last harvest and bad spring , the greens paying grants to incorporate 40% of the straw has created a sudden shortfall which grain growers and taking advantage of , there is no way its worth that to throw under cattle, already inputs cripple the beef industry , more and more farmers building slatted tanks so you will be left with it soon enough incorporate it see the great use it will be , the price was talked up scare mongering also ? The government made a right mess of things

    • @gerry6420
      @gerry6420  2 месяца назад

      @@rangecomand I’m more then happy to chop it. At 15-20 euro a bale. It’s not worth messing with. I been chopping 50% and baling 50% for last few years and when I take the value of it ploughed in. And time and fuel saved not having turn it, and load it and cost of baling it, then deliver it. I’m far better off. The government hasn’t created the shortfall. Very few farmers have chopped their straw, myself included. The poor weather this year has ment straw amount per acre is well down on norm. The bigger issue is a big drop off on sown acres this year. Partial again down to poor weather for planting winter and spring crops, but also down to dairy men giving crazy money for land and putting tillage lads out of it. It’s been a bit of a perfect storm for this to happen.i think if we get a normal weather year straw will be back to normal price and be plentiful enough. I’ve all slatted sheds because I could never understand lads bedding cattle. Might be alright with small numbers, but with any kinda numbers Its not feasibly. As for the straw, I’ll not be left with it. I’m happy to chop it all apart from what I need myself.

      Nothing on a 3420 interchanges with a matbro handler. John Deere bought them out in 1997 and redesigned them. They kept a similar shape in some regards. But everything is bigger and stronger with all deere design and deere engine obviously. There a cracking machine even still today would work most new handlers into the ground 👍
