    Great time of the year for draining lol. Ground it to wet. I have a small excavator and have don’t a little draining. My top tip is a laser level and keep using it as you dig so the drain is as perfect as you can get. Second tip when digging to put in perforated pipe use a narrow digging bucket. The saving in stone will pay for it. When digging a drain which is to be left open with out a pipe use a grading bucket and dig it side on so the sides of the drain are well sloped to stop soil from falling it. And the last thing mark the ends of ur pipe so u can clean them each year. Ur soil looks peaty so the pipe will fill up.

    Just discovered your channel today… I like the rythm of your work and priority to family when needed.. it seems you have a large community of follower that could have shared with you more idea about this big project.
    sometimes we begin some work because the weather allows it due to these freeze and when we are really in the weather has already warmed… this is not easy but you will succeed❤

    Erik try starting your dig at the lowest point on the land to the highest that way the water is running away from you and Straddle the trench that way you can push the tractor forward using the backhoe bucket. good content the struggle is real

    • @Colin-rg7gt
      @Colin-rg7gt 51 минуту назад

      He tried to do that but probably better to do it backwards as just a 3 point mounted and not ridged enough to do that and he'd have to get somone too steer the tractor. I only know this because I've witnessed experienced operators on Massey Ferguson 50Bs and because of the way the backhoe is attached to the tractor you could see the movement of the unit.

    I feel your frustration! Never mind, restoring an old farm is always going to be a voyage of discovery, and you will know every square meter like the back of your hand in the end. Keep going!

    We have used exactly same concrete pipes for drainage and not good. The seam between the pipes has to be fitted well but the winter cold enter the ground and push them apart. One large reinforced plastic pipe is the most practical solution for shallow drainage in Norway (in this case).

    Hello Erirk: first of all god bless you and your family. You are working hard to make your farm successful and another thing is that you are showing your son hard work makes thing happen. Good luck and I am sure you are going to make your land a lot dryer after putting in the pipe.

    You sure were not having an easy time of it. The amount of water is definitely your biggest issue, I just hope that you are going to be able to get it to drain, it will be a game changer for sure. The good thing is that it doesn't look like you give up easily, and you definitely aren't afraid of hard long days working. Take care and enjoy your family time playing in the snow, the children look like they love it. 👍❤️

    Just my opinion should take a bit of air out them tires to get better flooring and less digging then you would with more air. Like 5psi to maybe 15psi

    To help your channel grow then you should use thumbnails and descriptions of the items in your descriptions of each item. Example is # chickens, # tractors, fencing, etc... so that when people do a search then they will find your items listed so that when people do a search then your items will show up for them to see and find.

    Wouldn’t it be easier if the drain across the road be left open and make up a steel or heavy duty wood which would carry the weight of the tractor and larger vehicle, RSJ would support the outside of the structure and also across the centre, even if you could not weld then use bolts probably 16mm or around that size🇬🇧🇮🇪.

    I hope this will help you out when using your Back Hoe for trenching etc: I was a Qualified JCB Operator, back in the 1970’s, and was trained to set the Throttle to 1,900 rpm for the Pump to supply enough ‘Hydraulic Pressure’ for the Back Hoe to work properly. It sounds like you are digging at little more than Idle, tick-over. If you know better regarding your Own Tractor, then please forgive and ignore the intrusion.

      I was going to try it but the petal was completely stuck so it probably needs some maintenance. In any case I did not want to make the tractor sink any more as it would have made it more difficult for my neighbor to pull me up. 😊

    Ok.love your ambition ,I have the same digger foster ,let me say you are better off hiring some one with a digger to that work , it's taking too long dor you and the quality of your digger work not as good as professional driver ie levels in drains in short better to pay someone else , he will complete in a few hours what may take u days even if it's 50 euro an hour it's cheaper, time is money

    • @norwegiangadgetman
      @norwegiangadgetman День назад +2

      This depends on if he has that extra money to spend. And getting someone out there with a tracked digger to do the job is costly. With the road as it is(from what I've seen in earlier episodes) it may be difficult to truck a digger out there. That means 'walking' a digger a long distance. At full hourly costs.
      Actually, my father started out with a backhoe, a HYMAS, not a Foster, and it was fully capable of doing this work. It's just a bit slower in repositioning than a tracked digger is since you have to change seats and also lift any stabilisers if you have them deployed. A decent bucket would also help...

    • @Norwegianfarmlife
      @Norwegianfarmlife  День назад +2

      Thanks for the tip. It would go faster with professionals but those are really expensive in Norway. You could probably multiply that rate by 4. I also like this kind of works so even though it is not as fast and as good it gives me joy. 😊👍

    • @DerekObrien-tk7we
      @DerekObrien-tk7we 23 часа назад

      @Norwegianfarmlife Ialso find the foster digger very awkward to put on my fiat tractor I paid 500 for my foster came with 3 buckets it paid fir itself very quick ,but a track machine so much faster ,you land will.improve very quickly with drainage, I would put some lime on the land to help the grass grow may also some grass seed in the summer
