I'm so glad your helping out with advice on your garden.
I'm doing a raised bed this year. I put totes on cinder blocks. It's the perfect height and I don't have to bend over and pick weeds.
Glad to see you posted today. Missed you

I found it easier to plan meals if I set a theme for each day of the week. Example…Sunday roast, Monday pasta, Tuesday casserole, Wednesday leftovers, Thursday takeout, Friday seafood, Saturday date night. Pretty soon everyone catches on and they know what to expect and it helps narrow down the suggestions they may have for dinner if you are letting them have input.

date night is free for all with the kids. Like breakfast for dinner or whatever they can dream up.

When your grow light gives up.
Replace it with an LED full grow light. It’s almost pink in color.
Use’s less energy. I have one on a timer. 5 am to 9 pm.
    You ROCK DENIM!
    Gorgeous!

Have you ever thought about an indoor hydroponic farm? Its completely independent of the weather or season, being inside. I bought my first one last year, now i got another two of them, because they can be stacked. I grew lettuce in them, next i will try spinach. Its quite nice to get a leaf of lettuce anytime if you need one, lets say for a sandwich. The surplus goes to my guinea pigs. For fertilizer i use masterblend plus calciumnitrate and magnesiumsulfate. They come as a powder, so i make my own fertilizer solution. Its way cheaper that way. With a little scale that shows up to 0.001 grams its easy to make.
However, shoplights are not the same as grow lights. Grow light have the maximum light emitting at just the right wavelengths for photosynthesis. It works for seedlings because the will come out of the soil without light. If they start to grow, the shop lights wont do well.

That was a clever pun that you, Summer, didn't even realize you made. When you were suggesting that people add the garden journal to their annual gardening experience you said, "there's always room to grow". I thought it was clever. BTW, this video is so helpful for people who are afraid, or too lazy (me) to start from seeds. You've done a great job breaking it down, step by step, and including all the little tips you've picked up along the way. As always, it will be fun to watch your seeds germinate and grow, and finally, participate in the annual harvest.

Thank you for the update. Might I suggest a timer on your light. Remind us why the fan? (I know but it wasn’t explained)
If you want to grow food indoors, and some people do, get the good lights. I had peppers all winter long in my basement! Good light for flowering, fan for pollination. (And strength).
    God bless.

I actually bought timers last year and they are the weirdest thing that nobody can figure out 😂 I’ll make it my goal this year haha but no matter what I’ll have to go down and turn my fans on.

You should hydrate the soil before you load the containers, it is so much easier. Also seeds have a shelf life, and they often expire after 6 months to a year. Always check the expiration date, as they may not grow if planted after expiration date.

Hi Summer. Does it matter if the light above your plants are LED? They don’t get as warm so I was not sure if you are using them as just light or if the warmth helped them grow as well. Thoughts?

    • @sumgoodstuff9995
      @sumgoodstuff9995  2 года назад +1

My lights don’t get warm at all :) so it’s just as light! In about one week To two weeks I’ll remove my heat mats so they can start working on getting strong root development without heat.
It’s a fine line of babying them some but then ultimately toughening them up to prepare for the real world 😂

Hi Summer, Love your channel, getting my seeds ready to sow for my garden. Speaking of sowing my seeds, I was watching your brothers video this morning and I remember back when you had mentioned that you put his videos together. Anyway, he had a song bite at the very end of his last video which referred to sowing his seeds..the lyrics went something like---" we got so many seeds to sow". I need to blast this song to keep me motivated in planting my garden. Do you remember the name of this song? Thanks!

Sorry that is too much work and too much energy to start seeds. The amount of electricity soil Exedra that you are using and all the time you are putting into starting these seedlings just as easy and more cost-efficient to just go by little seedlings to put in your garden gardening shouldn't be that time-consuming or complicated make it easy. All growing up as a child we had a garden
