This was his confession. Of HIS crimes. That is he was a rapeist and a killer. Then blameshifting it on " humanity". Useing his act as the " commedian" to disguise it. Playing both sides to blure out the lines.
I waited for that "mother forgive me.". I had Ghoosethumbs & tears.
That was a nice touch at the end.

The Comedian is basically The Joker if he was on the "good" side.

Men like the Joker. Are the men that broke the commedian. The Joker`s main goal, was to brainwash and change the way men like the commedian saw the world. Make them doubt the difference of good and evil. Breake their soul, and finaly make them into criminals and murderers like himself. This is what this film is all about. You can even see in the comments that alot even can`t see that the commedian was indeed a criminal and a murderer.
But he was right. It’s all a joke
*Laughs* "..It's a joke.." *Sighs* "..It's all a joke. Mother forgive me." Somehow that one line, as cynically said and as disturbed, ruthless and sociopathic as the Comedian was, that line somehow humanizes the most irredeemable character in the movie. He raped, killed pregnant women, shot down innocents, and murdered surrendering Vietnamese soldiers without a second thought and a smile on his face, yet even without the whole crying to the elf-man scene, that last line and a cynical laugh humanized the character to the point where the piece of shit is my favorite character, without even getting more then a few flashbacks of screentime.

And here I thought I was alone in this. He's definitely my favorite character. And I think you guys are right. There's parts of him that are relatable to everyone.
On a different note i believe that's what makes good Villains in a show or story. When stuff they say makes sense 🙄

@@cloudsombrero the " Hero" and " Villain" are psychological archetypes. That is in the real world heros and villains don`t exist. Humans are to complex to be 100% good or bad. The Comedian is a paradox, because he is a narcissistic psychopath who looks at himself as a form of demi God who can do what ever he wants ( Rape, kill, murder his own unborn child, Gaslight and manipulate the others in the watchmen). But at the other side he also works for the greater good. He is both a destroyer and a creator in the same character. So in alot of way`s he is the only " human" in the show, even if he is a criminal and a monster who hides behind his " Hero mask". The others are somewhat conflicted, but they are mostly pure hero or villains, so it`s more easy to project our subconscious aggressive and sexual impulses on them.
The Comedian`s narcissism and cynicism is as you say the part of our selves that laughs. The parts we don`t want to admit that we have. The " Shadow" part.
It`s like in Spiderman... We all want to be the " super" part. That is Spiderman or Venom. Nobody want`s to be Peter Parker. But reality is that we are all of them. The " Hero" and " Villain" part are our narcissistic instincts. Primitive animalistic instincts that we supress most of the time. But when we se shows like the watchmen we can imagine how it is to be a warped monster or mighty hero. When in reality most of us are just common men, with average lives.
I always thought the only other person who could do this character justice would probably be Daniel Day Lewis

I mean there will be blood pretty much already is a showcase of the dark sides of the „American Dream“ and the comedian pretty much represents the dark side of the American Dream

It's quite funny that Rorschach has a soft spot for an evil person like The Comedian. Both of them despise society and women in general. I believe Rorschach respected Comedian for being honest with himself. Also having brute strenght and enforcing it.
Is the Comedian Evil? I would say he's closer to chaotic neutral. And I never got the impression that Rorschach hated ALL women just permiscuous women and prostitutes because of his mother.

Jeffery Dean Morgan was Truly Perfectly Casted for The Role of Edward Morgan Blake/The Comedian Making someone you Despise and someone you Love at The Same Time. The Comedian was saw Society’s True Face and Choose to Affliction and Parody of it.
This deserves more views.

I really y didn't know of these actors until this movie and all I say isWOWWW!!! what a great cast to put out a greater movie. I wish the blurau had a synopsis of each of the movies heroes powers per se or their skill set. And the past villains too. Like they did on incredible

He is the portrait of a nihilistic society, he does everything the government tells him to do like killing kennedy, woodward and bernstein. He is not completely evil he just put up a facade to keep living in the society without feeling like a mindless piece of shit and when the facade drops he is distraught by what he has become.
