far and away the most relatable and interesting character in the movie. Maybe the most moral. Behind the ruthlessness and wrath and malice, it was all about getting the evil out of this world, not because it was easy or hard, or fun or miserable, but because there's right and wrong, and as long as you do enough right while you're being wrong, you're still coming out ahead for righteousness. It's a messy, loathesome philosophy, but sometimes in order to finally get some results you have to change your approach. Even if your approach means you are a result that must be had when you're done. He didn't do his work mindlessly or under any illusions of grandeur or moral superiority. And that's what made it commendable that he did it anyway.

I was shocked when I found out Moore's goals and opinions on Rorshach. It's almost a litmus test for how warped a comic book fans worldview is whether they like or hate Rorshach. Sadly the watchmen reddit page seems flooded with post modern, moral relativistic Rorshach haters.

No family because his mum never wanted him and gave him an irrecouncilable hatred of women.
No future because of the coming bombs.
Not even empathy, because there was no limit to how far a random stranger could fall unrepentingly in depravity.
Justice - true Justice, relentless and uncompromising - was the only thing holding the man together.
And had Doctor Manhattan not gotten in his way, he would have gladly let the bombs fly so that Ozymandias was brought to justice; after all, "justice is coming for all of us".

Rorschach has the courage of his convictions that the rest of us only wish we had; that we say we do, but don't. We just lie to ourselves and pretend that we would or could do the same as him.
The dude is truly hard-core, all the way; No give and no take. He knew 100% that there was no way they would let him live, and he had the courage to face it head on and not shirk away from it.
Never compromise, not even in the face of Armageddon. That's aways been the difference.

Rorschach represents a culture without a professional justice system. When citizens do not have the resources to investigate, analyze, and judge criminal behavior, people resort to what is expedient. Life is hard enough without being preyed upon when the system fails, as is currently the case, the simplicity of Rorschach is appealing.

wtf. It pisssed me off. For him to compare victims of addiction, or dependents of a substance like opiates to a kiddie diddler .. That’s so dumb. It shows you how sick in the head Rorschach is. He thinks the world is black and white.. that’s the dumbest most extremist bs ever. Human beings are unique. You can’t just lump a huge demographic into the label of “deserving of retribution”. Dude has huge mommy issues just to start with. Sociopathic as fudge. If someone thinks he’s cool then you d the point and the creator literally is proving his point about ignorant people. The aesthetic is awesome due in part to the original artist and then the actor portraying him. But not the mindset; the actual being is horrible and broken beyond belief. If that type of person were real, they’d probably seem like a knot zeeeee

Alan Moore is such a good writer that a character such a Rorschach is memorable and likable. Rorschach is a flawed character, his black and white world views, his misogyny, homophobia, dismissing the fact The Comedian attempted to rape a woman. It makes him a more indepth character, because the way he came into being shows you why he's like this. He never compromises for better or for worse, even at the cost of his own life, for how flawed he is, he can't agree to the idea of millions dying just to stop a war. Be it from a fake alien squid or multiple atomic bomb like explosions.

Best character in the watchmen, by far ...
After that, maybe ozymandias, and Dr. Manhattan next

My favorite part of this is how much Alan Moore hates us for loving his least favorite character.

How is The Watchmen not hailed as one of the great movies of our generation?

    • @narn3904

Because its hero’s are flawed as all of us are. “The Boys” reveals the reality of over powered individuals in our modern world. These movies are all a play on Genesis 6:1-4. The “ boys” like to tell their stories.

Idk I heard some people saying it’s bad because it’s not comic book accurate

@@carrots5092 yeah but that gets tossed out there when any movie is based on a book.

Incredible performance by Jackie Earle Haley, it's a shame he never got the Wolverine role.
