    Well turns out there is no UV filter...you guys are right, it's just a threaded ring with no glass. In my defense, the filter instructions tell you to "Unscrew the stock UV filter installed on the camera (clear lens)." as the first step. So I assumed that was it...didn't even think to try to tap the "glass" to see if there was anything actually there. Whoops!

    I bought this exact set of filters at best buy, on clearance, for $35. I didn't realize that turning them, on the camera, changes the result of the filter......I really like your approach, and how you explain things. You do help me understand my mavic air and how it works alot better than just assuming, and me guessing. Thank you! -Gil

    Heads up, when removing lens on the Mavic Air, the ring only comes off, the lens is fix to the camera unlike other Dji drones, where the lens comes off with lens ring (one piece). I thought I lost my lens removing it to replace with an ND filter. Well done! Ed

    Hey bro! Love your videos! I especially loved your video comparing the mavic zoom vs the 2 pro. My only questions is: Is the mavic air still relevant in July 2019? I have had the zoom for almost a year now but still find that the weight and size of the drone can be difficult when backpacking or even possibly traveling. I just decided to order a mavic air ( 1 1/2 year later after its release) for the purpose of portability and weight, I also wanted a drone that would take the work load off my zoom in my daily real estate videos. Have I made a big mistake? Should I have waited for DJI to release something new? Or maybe I should have gotten the pro 2?

    hi Ed, thanks for your informative video, what would be the results if I don't fine-tune the Polarizer of ND/PL filter for the Mavic air:
    1. will I still get some ND effect since it is a combined ND/PL filter?
    2. will bad PL adjustment mess up footage colours? thanks for your advice

    So when adjusting the angle of the polarizer with the drone on so you can see the effect it has on your screen do you ever feel like it has the potential to damage your gimbal? I’m very hesitant to grab the camera while it’s on. I have the same filters and I go through a somewhat tedious process of turning it on assessing then off to adjust and back on again. Not the most efficient way but I don’t ever touch the gimbal while it’s on. Anyone have any thoughts here?? Ed??

    Hey Ed do you think polarizers create a sharper image? I ask this because i just got my mavic air and was disappointed with the video quality (did not use an ND or Polarizer). Everything looked soft and out of focus even with proper exposure on manual with double the shutter speed on 100 ISO. Do you think a polarizer will sharpen up the videos?

    Hey Ed, I just got a Mavic Air and I am taking it with me to Alaska. The problem is that every time i have flown with it, my footage comes out really choppy/laggy - more than just "not cinematic" due to me not using ND filters (they are in the mail rn so I will try them out when I get them). It also seems like my range is very limited, today I lost signal at 500 ft away. Have you experienced anything like this before? Any recommendations?

  • @Zeppy007

    @danielsaredi 6 лет назад

    No UV filter on my Mavic Air. PL's don't make greener trees, just less reflexions in the air from tiny water droplets or water reflexions. ND's are simply used to lower the shutterspeed to have it twice the fps (if you want to follow the 180° rule). ;) Great PolarPro Filters and the PolarPro App is helpful as well.

  • @timdelma
    @timdelma 6 лет назад

    To completely understand: when using the polarizer, you must adjust the ring each time you change the direction?
    Can you use the PL when you fly directly towards the sun?

    • @EdRickerVlogs
      @EdRickerVlogs  6 лет назад +1

      You set the ring adjustment before takeoff and fly as normal. The effect is most visible 90 degrees from the sun. So flying toward the sun won't produce much effect, but that's fine...it's not supposed to.

    • @EdRickerVlogs
      @EdRickerVlogs  5 лет назад

      No, rotating the polarizer is very easy and won't damage it. The biggerrisk for damage is putting it on and taking it off. Luckily these screw on, so it's not too difficult. Filters for other Mavics PUSH ON which is a nightmare.

    • @jenslundinbyh8845
      @jenslundinbyh8845 5 лет назад

      @@EdRickerVlogs well screwing it on I can do when the drone is powered off. But to be able to align the polarizer the camera must be on. That is the difficult part.

    • @EdRickerVlogs
      @EdRickerVlogs  5 лет назад

      @@jenslundinbyh8845 Yeah, that's not an issue. 40MPH+ wind speed will push against the gimbal way harder than the pressure required to turn the filter.
