I just recieved these same sets yesterday and just got an alert about you posting this video. Thank you for helping me explain to my my wife why I needed them. LOL
Thanks for demonstrating this w/great comparison footage. I ordered the Cinema ND set knowing I probably need the PL as well. They'll be ordered shortly.
Very informative! Great work! I'm still waiting on my custom 6-pack. Made me happy to see that Polar Pro took their time making these filters balanced for the M2P! I can't wait to get them!
Polor pro are very good they send me free replacement very promptly for my polor pro filter for dji spark they are very customer friendly n greatly increased the drone videos quality level
Awesome. I got them today and I was like, WTF...how does it even go on the drone? I suspected the factory lens needed to come off but of course the skimpy documentation said nothing about it. Two thumbs up.
First time I've understood ND filters and the relation with the shutter speeds and aperture. Thank you for the clear explanation. I do have one question however - which set /model of these is best for the general use?
I was wondering what are the differences between for example a ND8 filter and a PL8 rotate such that the polarization effects is insignificant. Thank you!
Aldryn, great work as usual! Looks like I should just get the set with the PL! Not sure why I would just get the ND filters? The PL seems to be the way to go. Question is - Why would I not just get the PL filters? Is there a real reason to get all of them? Thanks!
Don Karsin the polarizer adds a color tint and some saturation as you can see in the side by side. Some may want a flatter image to work with in Post. As you may want reflections or glare depending on your video needs.
Great job! Mine were scheduled to arrive Friday but, there was a shipping delay. Bummed as I wanted to take them with me to Alaska tomorrow to test. I am mixed on the PL filters. You had a really nice result in the clip you showed. However, did you notice that the camera had to be pointed in the exact direction you set it to on the ground to get the PL effect? I use polarized filters in my camera all of the time. I would love to think they will work on the Mavic 2 Pro but, when shooting with my camera I have to adjust the PL any time I change direction or my angle with the sun. Which means, in my mind, it will be extremely difficult to get a good PL effect throughout a cinematic flight. ? Thx!!
so when adjusting your PL filter. You generally turn it so the image is darkened a bit so it greats more contrast and less reflection. Do PL filters have much benefit during golden hour when the light is the best naturally?
I am always worried about adjusting the polarizer while the drone is powered up because of the pressure this put on the gimbal. How do u guys work around this?
Good vid apart from the narrative where you freely interchange the words "lens" and "filter" and therefore describe these two items incorrectly. The lens and the filter are completely distinct and different parts
Hi, thank you for your video! Can you please tell me is it worth purchase whole set of 6 filters nd and nd/pl? What is better to use most of the time: standard ND filter or ND/PL? And for snow shots do i need something like ND32, ND64 or it will be enough ND16? Thank you!
If you can adjust the polarizer to Hebe none to some, why would you ever need to put on the regular ND filter without the PL? Seems like saving money by this. Thoughts?
Nice . Interested kindly explain you had the iso set to 100 for the ND then changed it to 200 prior to placing the ND Ploarised option ? From New Zealand by the way would absolutely love the Freewell set you're giving away
At the final comparison, surprisingly I feel that the picture without the filter is the most brilliant one. Second is the ND8 and the worst is the one with the ND8 plus polarizer which color is flat and dull. Does anyone have the same feeling like me?
When you have the filter on and your making the adjustment. Do you get the gimble error like remove cover. I always have to restart the drone. Am I doing anything wrong. Thanks for the videos
Another informative video, thanks. Why would you ever want an ND without the polarization? I hope to order the Polar Pro filters soon... saving my coins right now. Do you think they'll ever make a set that goes from ND4 thru ND64 (or greater), all polarized?
I don't understand if you decide to not spin it or are at the wrong angle when you are in the sky doesn't it then become a just a standard ND filter so why purchase a set of ND filters don't you have the best of both worlds when you have Polarized filters?
I have the cinema/polarizer 4, 8 and 16 for my Mavic 2 pro. It's unclear to me. Is there a way to turn off the polarizer and just use the ND?... OR, if not all the way off is there a minimum setting for the polarizer. If so, where is it? where does the dot go? It is very difficult in the field to set the polarizer for me. I'd rather set it before the field to off or low. I called Polar Pro and the fellow was not quite sure. Thanks for your channel. I watch all your videos for sometime now.
I usually fly during bright, sunny days. I usually shoot w/ nd16, but I’m starting to believe my shots are too hot and blown out. I’m torn between continuing to use the nd16 but getting polarized, or bumping up to nd32 vs nd64. Never used nd64 and if there’s no real use for it, I’d rather not pay for it. Any advice?
Any thoughts on when one might consider using super high ND filters like 64-1000? For photo I can see higher numbered to get that effect for say waterfalls but for video....? I'd like to see a video around this topic, esp. since Polar Pro sells these higher end filters. Haven't seen many video's around this topic and I know you've done some video's with your photography/drone shots with higher one's. When might someone use a 256 or higher?? Thanks!
Thanks for a really good video again. Your link number 2 will probably be PolarPro 4 pack and not PolarPro 6 pack It's really nice from PolarPro to give such a guarantee.
polarpro is advertising company first & filter company next their are many better product out there with better price , with polarpro you are paying their advertising cost.
Pgytech uses schott glass, they use this glass in very expensive equipment such as huge telescopes (observatory size). If observatories are using it to study stars that says a lot to me about the quality of schott glass.
I want to use the ND filters but I just cannot remove the existing filter...I seems like it is glued on, and I am afraid to damage the gimbal. Do you have any other suggestions?
I don't understand why companies package ND and Polarized Filters together. If you decide to not spin or set your Polarized filter or are at the wrong angle when you are in the sky, doesn't it then become a just a standard ND filter? So why purchase a set of ND filters don't you have the best of both worlds when you just have Polarized filters?
I've been asking this same question for weeks now. The best answer I can get is that even though it's not dialed in, the polarizing effect is always "on." And it could make for some weird shifts in color/light when flying around. Also will mess up panoramas. But, I have yet to see a video demonstrate this. I wish someone that has both would take up the filters up and compare flying around with a standard ND, PL dialed in, and PL not dialed in to see what it looks like.
If it's going to create weird shifts in color/light, then why would you ever want to use one with video, as I understand it, the Polarized only shows up when it is at a certain angle to the sun primarily for reduction of glair and increase saturation from UV. With my drones flying at many angles, my video and Pans would be full of weird shifts??? we definitely need some pro advice on this one.
I think it’s personal preference. Polarizing filters (when set correctly) increase color saturation and contrast. Blue skies are deeper blue and trees are deeper green. Some don’t like that look. Also, there is a potential issue of banding when stitching panoramic photos with a polarizer, because the polarizer will be at a slightly different angle for each shot, so the color differences over large areas like the sky may create subtle lines in the sky on your panoramas. I personally love the look of a polarizer with my videos and dislike them with panoramic photos, so I’m always a little torn about whether to put them on for a given flight if I may do both.
Is it just me or in 9:34 no filter looks best? The water in the nd8 with PL just looks black and dead? Still trying to understand why I need a nd filter set?
Jarmo Kangro ND32 will be required in some rare situations. Such as filming on a sunny day on a mountain covered in snow. Or in a desert on a sunny day.
@@LukeMaximoBell1 oke, I will see that soon! I guess if u want 2.8-5.6 aperture with shutter 60 and u don't want to blow the sky then 16 won't be enough... You can always bring up the brightness but you can't recover over exposure.
I would keep F8 as your max limit. I've done a lot of testing with video and photos and found past F8 is not usable. But F8 and down is good. F5.6-F2.8 being the best.
Do you know how long it takes from ordering until you receive when I'm in the US? I am going to Los Angeles in 1 week and be there 5 days. And would like to order a set of PolarPro 6 pack on amazon.com to my Hotel. Do you think it will arrive within 5 days? If I had to buy it on the Amazon that is closest to me then it is amazon.de. And it costs $ 195
Hello Aldryn, I have a question, now everybody talks about that rule, if you filming in 30 FPS you should choose shutter speed 1/60...but if I choose 1/60 all video is blownout, tooo bright on a sunny day...so I have to speedup shutter to 1/640...but even then video is clear, not to bright not to dark...so why this rule anyway? Greetings from Croatia (you can check some of my drone footage on my YT channel)
This is where nd filters come in to play. Choose your shutterspeed and then use the appropriate filter strength for the right exposure. I have lots of vids about this
Naah ,ripoff is when a thing is overpriced and doesnt work, but these do and better than anything else in the market. But if you dont have money dont buy them ,simple as that.Buy that cheap chinese crap and see how good the video looks.
Awesome video and great content loved the video, I and my travel brother are on a pan India tour and will be traveling the country in a single go in our dhanno i.e Hyundai CRETA and will be vlogging India in 4k, so please do check our youtube channel Chal Le Oye.

Nice review man. Great work.
Great video once again. Loved the side by side example, and specially the example of how the PL works on removing the reflections from the car. 👍👌
man...I think you finally penetrated my skull with the great way you showed and explained this...thanks for trying to help me :) may God bless
The only thing I don't understand with the ND with polorizer. What is the difference if you turn the dial to the right vs the left?
had the nd pl set for my original mavic and got these as soon as they were released for my mavic 2 pro they are hands down the best filters
Do you recommend ND/PL over just ND?
Nice review. I got the 4,8,32,64 and 128. Come in super handy for 1/50 cinematic and 1/4 SS hyperlapse smoooooooooth
Thank you Aldryn! I'm waiting for my set to arrive and after watching your review I'm even more excited for testing it ASAP
Your Vid is EXCELLENT!!! Congratulations, helped a lot with those examples!!!!
Thanks as always! My PL set just arrived. looking forward to trying it out.
Aldryn I just wanted to say thanks for doing this video it really helps out the average guy
I love it that "way back in the day" was 2013/14
Very nice. That removal tool looks terrific for people like myself who have some finger dexterity problems. Looks like a great product. 👍🏻
Great video !! I really like the nd/PL filters so nice! The black building is by my house haha
Best accessory for the Mavics.
Polor pro are very good they send me free replacement very promptly for my polor pro filter for dji spark they are very customer friendly n greatly increased the drone videos quality level
Thank you for the video camera advise .. that was what I was looking for.
Awesome. I got them today and I was like, WTF...how does it even go on the drone? I suspected the factory lens needed to come off but of course the skimpy documentation said nothing about it. Two thumbs up.
Absolutely excellent video! Subscribed! 👌
I use Polar Pro on all my drones. I think they are the best.
Thanks for a really helpful video 👍
First time I've understood ND filters and the relation with the shutter speeds and aperture. Thank you for the clear explanation. I do have one question however - which set /model of these is best for the general use?
Having a range is good. Having at least an 8 and 16 with the prob is good.
I was wondering what are the differences between for example a ND8 filter and a PL8 rotate such that the polarization effects is insignificant. Thank you!
Excellent Video!!! Thanks for posting.
Thanks for the great video Aldryn. Will the gimbal cover fit with the PP filters on with no problems unlike other brands?
Thanks for another interesting review! Do you know if PolarPro will release a pure polarising filter?
Aldryn, great work as usual! Looks like I should just get the set with the PL! Not sure why I would just get the ND filters? The PL seems to be the way to go. Question is - Why would I not just get the PL filters? Is there a real reason to get all of them? Thanks!

Excellent explanation as always! 😎
yeah! old school phantom 2 !!!! my first drone!
It would be also useful to find out when to use IR filters. I assume UV filter is applicable when you're in high mountains and having a lot of sun.
Great job! Mine were scheduled to arrive Friday but, there was a shipping delay. Bummed as I wanted to take them with me to Alaska tomorrow to test.

I wish I waited for these. I bought the pgytech. Damn.
PGYtech has some ND-PL filters but are fixed not adjustable.
Am I the only one who thinks that that lake is most cinematic with no filter?
btw, nice review :)
If you can adjust the polarizer to Hebe none to some, why would you ever need to put on the regular ND filter without the PL? Seems like saving money by this. Thoughts?
PL can change sometimes change the tint of the footage. Because of that it's not always wanted.
Great video. Thank you for sharing.
Great video, congrats.....!!! 😃👍🏻
Great as Always. But what is the difference between the cinema collection and the regular collection?
Thanks 🙏
Mr. B he don’t know
Nice .

I think I accidentally switched it right before flight. Minor adjustment.
Top review. Keep em coming.
Lovely review. To the point.
I just need the circular polarizer without any ND rating. What
would you recommend?

Jerry Payne because you have to spin the pl filter every time you change directions.

Thanks for this video. Btw, are you a Filipino?
DJ Josh Mortega (sneakmeister) thanks and yes
Thanks for another amazing video! I am currently waiting for my custom set.
Does the gimbal cover still fit with these PolarPro filters on?
Daniel Saredi yes it fits.
Thanks for the info!
Thanks for a really good video again.
Your link number 2 will probably be PolarPro 4 pack and not PolarPro 6 pack
It's really nice from PolarPro to give such a guarantee.
Cheers Mate!
I went ahead and got PGYTECH. Way better and cheaper!
Soumendra Jena : I am not questioning you, but what do mean by way better? I am trying to decide what filters to buy. I know they cheaper

Great 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Nice
Do polar pro make this 6 pack for the zoom as well?
I want to use the ND filters but I just cannot remove the existing filter...I seems like it is glued on, and I am afraid to damage the gimbal. Do you have any other suggestions?
Is a different between den frewell an the polarpro filters ? Because many people say that they are the same.
Will this filter fit on Mavic Air 2s?
grea video...
Would it be better to just the the PL filters? Why do you need the none PL filters?
PL filter can alter the colors. You might not want that.
FlytPath Ok, thank you for the fast reply.

Jim Miller get the custom set and only choose polarized ND filters. That’s what I did. Your logic is not flawed!
Is it just me or in 9:34 no filter looks best? The water in the nd8 with PL just looks black and dead?

is the ND16 enough or there is a need for ND 32 for 30fps shutter 60 for filming at daytime like you did?

nice filters and love the brand.. just too expensive...lol . oh well.lol . 💰💰
Does anyone have any tips on the best custom 6 pack to buy for general usage?
unfortunately i dont have bags of money laying around to buy a set.. super nice though!

Pl is very situational. More than that in the air. Messing with it is sometimes simply not worth it.
No Filter iss the Best
Why do you shoot at 2.7k at 60fps?
Tristan Stokes no main reason but to just have a larger video that I can crop into and possibly slow down.
Good job. Love your videos ;)
Hi, which filters are better than SKYREAT or POLAR PRO?
R. M. I haven’t tried skyreat so I can’t compare
I would love to know if I already have PL filters if ND filters are needed at all. thank you
Installing filter comes a 5:20
Nice set but they are way over priced
You think overpriced? Have you bought other lens filters for photography lenses?
Exactly. A good polarized filter for a DSLR can really break the bank compared to these.
You will always have to pay a premium for the best in the market.
Yes big rip off
Naah ,ripoff is when a thing is overpriced and doesnt work, but these do and better than anything else in the market. But if you dont have money dont buy them ,simple as that.Buy that cheap chinese crap and see how good the video looks.

It does have a variable aperature so these filters are rubbish ;)
The camera looks like garbage at f/8, f/11...
