It's been almost 3 years since I bought the MT10, but the more I ride it, the more I like it. A high-powered street fighter with a position close to the orthodox naked, this machine is excellent as a tourer and is an ideal bike for me that will not make me tired even when riding long distances. I totally agree with you who are riding with the utmost fun.☺️
I've had my 10 since 2016 . One thing that's really bad is the lights when on unlit roads at night.Utter rubbish. Not one single problem in that time with reliability.Nothings broke, fell off or leaked. I've ridden in all weathers including snow ( not by choice ) Most fun, Mode B TCS 3 for stretching it's legs. Yamahas QS is a great add on but now comes as standard with new MTs. Brembo pads and Pirelli Diablo 3 tyres make a huge difference to the bike weather you buy a stock or SP model. Comfort seat ,well for me yes as i'm 74KG (11.7 stone )standard seat is like a park bench. Going to the Black forest on it soon via the Vosage mountains . That sound from the exhaust is wicked.
@@alexpapa7757 Hi Alex. That's a possibility but it doe's need more light .I would say it's form over function defiantly. As for fuel, yes they like plenty of that and i can empty a tank sharpish when caning it.It's slightly better since i had FT ecu flash done. However if you are on open roads and in top ,stay bellow 130kms/h with the cruise control on ,you can get around 130 miles to the tank. The Eco sign comes on the dash so there you go. I find i can get a little more sometimes if i take my time when re fuelling so the tank is literally full to the brim , but it's only a little.
Got my 2018 MT10 in October of this year after watching all of the vids I could and could not be more pleased. The thing is mental. Got it run at 700 miles within 3 weeks which for me is probably half my mileage I'd normally do in 12 months! It makes me giggle out loud. Decatted it with a Leo Vince baffled pipe and running a Scorpion RP1-GP end can. Sounds absolutely amazing and still loud, but still a little more reserved than a full decat y-pipe from the other manufacturers. Standard seat is a pain after 40 mins but used to it now, and the front pads have been changed to SBS 634HS front pads which made a big difference on initial application and on hard braking for just £30!
So glad to see a rider who always keeps his two fingers on a brake lever. Unfortunately, lot's of riders, especially newbie riders - crash because they ignore that very important but basic rule. Good video, amazing machine and ride safe!
It's not a good rule. I have been riding for 15+ years so I am not sure if I am a newbie and I definitely wouldn't hover over the front break. Especially not permanently at least if they were good breaks. It's asking for trouble one twitch and you are going over the handlebars.
I agree with the style of putting two fingers on the brake lever. If you hold the steering wheel from the outside and accelerate with your little finger and ring finger, your index and middle fingers will be weakened and free, so you can improve passive safety by putting these two free fingers on the brake lever. On the other hand, people who accelerate by force from the inside fingers tend to perform rough operations, and the elbows tend to fall and the shoulders tend to be stressed, which hinders self-steering.
Loved the video , have watched it a few times, love the extended power wheelie in that pass wary on. I've owned 11 different sport bikes from R6's to a Ducati 999R Fila to a built 230 hp 2008 R1 to a 2015 crossplane R1 but after an accident on the Ducati and then a car accident my back just did not allow sport bike riding for more than half an hour so did a lot of research and seemed to find that the rest of the world outside of America the rest the world seems to be in love with nakeds and super-nakeds . Found that you can have serious performance in a comfortable bike, makes sense SO decided to try an upright naked. At the time the FZ10 (MT10) hadn't been announced yet so I first test rode standard nakeds ,..the cb1000r, and a z1000 and a speed triple but going from a '15 crossplane R1 I was extremely disappointed in the performance. Comfortable yes but seriously lacking in power. SO stepped up to the super-naked class , rode a Tuono v4 Factory and my gosh I understood the supernaked craze, so comfortable and super sport handling and power but GOBBs of torque down low with a broad and steeply climbing curve and then also realized after 3 hours my back wasn't hurting, found it! Looked at the other Snakeds , superduke 1290r which was amazing in power but in sound, compared to the v4 of the tuono it sounded aweful! And of course is expensive still just like the tuono. Rode the EBR ,..well, basically another 1290r , still expensive. I figured wel it's either save money and be disappointed in power or spend it and be happy , nothing in between. Then in my shopping I stumbled accross an ad for the soon to be released FZ10, (MT10 in your part of the world, never did understand the 2 different names for the same bike?) I know people either love the looks or hate it but I LoVED it! Just looked extremely mean and edgy , very aggressive , definitely not beautiful like the tuono but loved the look and then read Yamahas new naked was going to be going after the European supernakeds and would be based largely on the R1 with a crossplane power plant based off the R1's . I'd fallen in love with my crossplane in the R1 I had so I was pretty convinced and beyond excited for the release. Till then I test rode the new gsxs1000 , again totally disappointed , continued researching and narrowing down to two bikes, the tuono v4 HAD to be a 'Factory' and the FZ10 which I hadn't rode yet as it hadn't launched. Unfortunately the cons of the tuono were of course it was $17,500 US which was very painful, the only other con was there is NO aprilia dealer within a 1,000 miles of me in utah USA SO service would be nearly impossible and of course aprilia is not known for reliability in comparison to the most reliable Moto company several years running Yamaha , of which theres a dealer on every corner. As information was released I got more excited , Ontop of a low end torque tuned crossplane Powerplant it'd have top electronics and ridding aids where the other Japanese nakeds down, adjustable, and fully adjustable suspension, power modes , adjustable TC , wheelie control , oh and cruise control? The greatest thing I never knew I needed! and the list went on. Then pricing was released and ya, $12,999, so $4,500 less than the factory , then performance data released , "the quickest to 60 mph in the 2017 Yamaha lineup, that was it, made my decision, supernaked performance at Jsut above base naked pricing. I also knew that my two favorite sounding bikes ever is a Catless aprilia v4 and a catless crossplane,..which sound very similar when cat is removed. Yamaha then released a video of one of their Factory riders running laps at Suzuka on the other Japanese nakeds and then the European nakeds and supernakeds. The end result of course showed the other Japanese nakeds serious lack in performance and handling and a much slower lap time than even the base nakeds of Europe , speed triple , monster etc, ...then the BMW s1000r , superduke 1290r, and tuono , all 3 lap times embarased all the other base nakeds. Then came the MT10 lap, I expected somewhere in the middle where it is much more powerful than the nakeds but a little down on power from the supernakeds . End of lap listing all times, and the MT10 tied the BMW , BEAT the $5,000 more KTM!!! And was just 1.5 seconds down from the top performing tuono! That was it! Sold! Didn't need to ride it, top European supernaked performance at $4,500 less and knowing I loved the crossplane 4 , imagining it tuned and geared for low and midrange toque it was all I needed to know. Best part, FINALY is Americans are finally realizing what you Europeans have always known, nakeds are amazing, it's the fastest growing and highest selling bike class in the uS now, good for me becaue of course when they launched the FZ10, in utah the dealers wanted above MSRP for the FZ10, but I found a dealer in California that ordered 13 fz10's , 9 of them in the armor grey and hi-viz color combo and were worried about having too many of that color and sitting on them. I made an offer still having never rode one, site unseen and the dealership took it,...$9,250 US for a NEW FZ10 with 4 miles on it!! $3,750 under suggested retail and $8,200 less than the tuono factory and KTM! Was like Christmas waiting for it! Finally arrived to my driveway in a trailer and it was history from there! I can't believe all this time I was missing out on supernakeds! Best of all worlds combined! The FZ10 is absolutely the most fun bike I've owned , I can ride 12 hours with a. Bad back, never had a problem with it, just absolutely epic and costs me $160 /month payment and $40/month insurance haha! I watch your video and it's like riding it the first time all over again, same thoughts you had! I ended up removing the 21 pound cat and replaced with a prototype Termignoni Y-pipe , left the factory titanium can on , put a rave filter and sent the ECU to NelsTune to retune for the changes and eliminate the flat spot in the torque curve , he extended the redline, smoothed the throttle out and gave a very significant gain in hp and trq,..more than a 2018 tuono factory! The FZ10 didn't need more power but did need a tune or flash so may as well raise it. If you haven't rode a tuned MT10 , you need to find one and do a video, it's unreal! And a catless crossplane 4 sounds epic!!!!! Very Rossi-GP-like. End result, pure adrenaline and bliss while saving a lot of money! I only wish they sold the SP in the US! R1m electronics, R1M multimatic suspension , all the magnesium titanium , color tft , quickshifter etc etc, SO jealous you guys have them there! Not sure why I wrote this long ass comment , maybe Jsut becaue I found myself watching your video for probably the 4th time now and taking me back to that exciting time changing to Snakeds and the FZ10! Keep up the bad-assery, and videos and ride safe brother!
Thanks for the reply buddy I agree with everything you've said. I don't understand why Honda and Suzuki have not released a proper super naked it's a huge mistake. The mt10 is a great bike I would really like to try the SP still not ridden one yet, I think the colour scheme goes a long way to improving the looks too which I'm not 100% sold on still but the bike rides like a dream no denying that. Enjoy it, sounds like yours is rather special with the mods 👌
Lamb Chop Rides man a RUclips motoVlogger that replies to comments that's awesome!!!!!! 🙂👍. Agreed 100% can you imagine a true Supernaked based on the fireblade , Supernaked based on the gsxr1000, a zx10r based z1000! the cb1000r and gsxs1000 have nothing in common with their superbike brothers, should do the same thing and keep closer to the actual sport bike motor and retune it, keep all the rideraids etc. id think Honda seeing the praise the MT10 has received as the first Japanese Supernaked that runs with the exotic European nakeds at a fraction of the cost. I hope they join the game soon, would be really cool! I was just going to ask , I'd LOvE to see your review on the MT10 SP, you seemed to really enjoy the base MT10 so Sure you'd love it with some really high end parts. Electronic suspension, quickshifter, brembos , color TFT, and R1m coloring. Sure wish we had them here in the US! I know you said you weren't sure on the sound of the crossplane 4 sound, I thought the same on my '15 R1 when I got it, BUT removed the cat and t truly sounds epic! First mod I did to my MT10 was the Y-pipe. You should hear it, the youtuber motovlogger "the muscle biker" bought mine, a month ago and did some videos on the sound with some flybys, truly you should check them out to hear what it sounds like with just a Y-pipe. Sounds unbelieveable! Night and day from the Factory system. The Factory exhaust makes the crossplane sound like a bunch of bumblebees in a can. It truly sounds very moto GP without the cat. I LOVED my FZ10 (MT10) really regret selling it. Only been a month and I want to buy another. Again back to the debate of which Supernaked, want the tuono factory but can't risk the reliability cost and not having a dealer anywhere near me, so it has to be out. Would be my first choice if they were reliable and not extremely expensive to maintain and service. So it comes down to a SD 1290r 1.0. 2.0 is too expensive where my other option is another MT10. I can get a 1.0 for just under $14k with mods , MT10 depends how lilucky I am, $13k for a new one or maybe lucky again at $9,250? The SD has always been a dream and yours sounds EPIc!!!! I worry a bit about buying the king of nakeds and not having all the rider aids. The full array of aids on the MT10 has saved my ass a few times! Do u worry about it?? To wheelie don't you have to turn everything off? Cause that would be sketchy I'd imagine. With my experience with the MT10 I likely will go that route IF the electronics on the SD are a safety concern enough. SC project is comming out with a GP titanium big bore full system for the MT10 and that sir will sound exactly like Rossis! I'd love to see you review a crossplane R1!! Any plans to? Find one with the cat removed so you can see what I mean. I miss my '15 R1 but not a lot of the aspects, I'm a Supernaked man now! For good! Thanks for the reply! Was super cool of ya! You're at the top of my list with the Barron of my favorite motovloggers! I really love your vids! Your hillarious too and beautiful country! If ya ever get out to the US come to utah to the world famous canyons! I'll hook it up! Ride safe brotha!
I used to own a brand new 1999 R1, the thing that I have never forgot about the bike was the engine! The engine was the best engine of a motorcycle or car that I have ever owned. It was so tractable, leave it in top, lower the speed to say 30mph then open the throttle and it takes you all the way to top speed no problem, loved the bike regret selling it!!
I bought one. After a month i stopped riding like a prick and enjoyed it as a grunty daily. This bike takes a bit of learning, but the rewards are worth it. Once you know where it sits on a daily/blast out/long ride you'll love it. I've had busa, gixxer 750, gsxs 1000, kawasaki zzr but this is the best bike I've ever owned. I'd like to try the tuono but services and repairs are a rip off.
Looking at this video as an ex Tuono V4 aPrc owner and now on my second MT-10, your comparison to the 1100 V4 Tuono does not take into account several negatives of Aprilia ownership - like reliability issues, the poor dealer network, very sketchy parts availability, super-expensive 12,000 mile valve services, even worse fuel consumption than an MT-10 and also greater depreciation. If all things were equal, yes I think anyone would take the Aprilia over the MT-10. But in the real world, the MT-10 with its bulletproof Japanese dependebiity, 18,000 mile valve services, in-stock parts that can be sourced super-cheap direct from Japan and delivered VAT free within a week and used parts also being freely available, for me it is a easy choice. Any prospective MT-10 buyer needs to take into account three essential improvements. One is to fix the wierdly un-linear throttle response and the annoying closed-to open throttle surging. The second, is to bring the front brakes up to what you'd expect them to be and the third is to set-up the suspension properly, which is a massive zero-cost incremental win. On my two MT-10s I've had one postal ECU reflash and one dyno reflash. I suppose that its no surprise that he dyno set-up reflash is noticably better than the postal one that I had on my previous bike. Fuel economy also improved on both after the reflash. As for the brakes, the initial bite and overall power that is lacking as standard can be very easily fixed with new SBS, Brembo or EBC road/track pads. I used SBS RST pads and these improve braking feel and power to a level where I feel that there is no need to consider any other braking changes like changing the master cylinder or brake lines. I set the suspension the JHS suggested settings and it really transformed the way the bike rides. In addition, dropping the forks in the yokes by two more rings, to a total showing above the top yoke of three, further improves the bike's ease of turning in. The only other minor criticism is the too-thin standard seat. This is easily overcome by fitting the comfort option. I also fitted slightly lower bars and Gilles adjustable handlebar clamps which have moved the bars forwards and down, which for me feels much better than the too-upright OEM handlebar position. I still have my exhaust catalyser in place with an OEM air filter and an end can. The bike made 153 rear wheel horsepower on Junction 33's dyno.
I’m very glad you’ve mentioned the Dyno results with the cat and only an end can, because I want to do this too. I’ve had my suspension set up also, and it’s mint. I too, have owned a Gen 2 superduke and a Tuono Factory V4 1100 and I totally know the comparison, now. Loved the torque of the superduke but I missed that filthy V4 sound and a bike which revs. I miss the V4 for it’s Gucci’ness and the way it makes you feel, but I actually think the MT10 is more fun and has more character. The Tuono I had, had 19k on when I got it, and I had 24k on it in 6 months, so I couldn’t rely on it getting high with mileage and having to face that ridiculous valve interval. Tuono for me, was the fastest bike I’ve ever had in the corners. It also got to ridiculous speeds so easily, and that frustrated me, as I don’t feel I had enough time on the throttle and wasn’t prepared to do those triple filigrees on the road. MT10 is very comparable to both of the other aforementioned bikes.
@@VFactory-vl5fi Agreed that money no object, Tuono every time. By the way, I've sold my MT-10 and have the Gilles adjustable bar clamps, LSL black anodised lower bars and bare end weights available.
Mt 10 is slow heavy Aprillia dealers galore over here. Also pretty reliable. Looks are for 18 year old. Ill take an 2hand tuono all day over a mt10. But yeah it drinks fuel like no tomorrow
Got one. Love it. No more superbikes for me. You really can't feel the weight as it's really well balanced but then I didn't think 210kg kerb was heavy tbh.
just brought a 2016 MT10 with 8k on it. absolutely mint condition and is insane. love it. partX my 2021 MT09 for it. always wanted one. sounds loud as fk especially with the Dcat removed. unreal pops and bangs. over 1k extras. love it puts a hige smile on my face every time i look at it
Well over two years ago I bought one of these and don't regret that decision one bit. Under 10K for this bike was a proper bargain especially compared to the hugely expensive 2011 Multistrada I had before (what an unreliable load of sh## that was!) The Yam is so comfortable, ridden 1000s of miles across Europe on it, blasted up Alpine roads, done motorways but it's at it's best down deserted B roads. Yes yes it's thirsty but for me it's a small price to pay to ride such an exciting machine. I've had the comfort of Yamaha reliability, nothing has gone wrong and I have no worries about continuing to own and enjoy this bike out of warranty, wonder how many Tuono owners will say that at 13,000 miles?
Banditmanuk haha agreed! I was down to the tuono factory and FZ10 (MT10), in the US unfortunately they were listed more expensively than Europe but still $4500 under an unreliable Factory. I found a brand new one in California for $9,250 (they over ordered at the launch of the FZ10 and weren't selling. $8,250 LESS than a tuono factory, with reliability like you said and when I decat the crossplane 4 , the symphony it makes is right up there with the sound of the aprilia v4! Epic and very rossi-GP-like. Sure my neighbors hate me but I get such a rush hearing it! The MT10 is by far the best bang for the buck of anything out there. The European Super-naked performance I got at nearly half the price! No brained! I only wish they sold the SP here in the states! You fellas are lucky! Ride safe!
@@lingenfelterzeeohhsix8154 hi mate. Is decatting with keeping the stock muffler still makes it loud for neighbours? Or did you also had an aftermarket muffler? Thx.
At Gazebo Smedley - totally agree. Im mid 50's, my first brand new bike too. I still have my licence .......just. This thing is a beast. Love the motor, the handling. Hate the brakes, headlight & petrol consumption. Seat is hard but suits the bikes style. BUT, I still get a smile on when on the open road free willying. Sweet.
I don't think the headlight is too bad, suspension was harsh until I had it set up at a suspension specialist (£30) and the brakes were a bit wooden until I fitted some EBC HH pads. I have also had it re-mapped which improved the throttle and gained some ponies, It's by far and away the best bike that I have ever ridden and I will be keeping it for a long, long time.
Agree with the other comment, had my suspension softened, got the Yamaha comfort seat which is worth it, EBC pads Fox the brakes and I had Legendary NelsTune flash the ECU for a race filter and Y pipe and gained great power, higher numbers than a tuono v4 1100 factory (the other bike I considered) and got mine new at launch for $8,250 less than a Factory , nearly half the price. My favorite mod definitely the Termignoni Y-pipe! That crossplane 4 decated is the mast amazing sound and that's comming from a aprilia v4 lover! Of the 11 sport bikes I've owned from Ducatis to crossplane R1's, the FZ10 (MT10 is absolutely my favorite and the most enjoyable and comfortable, and honestly with the torque fees the quickest! 👍 no regrets!
Ohhh.. it’s grows on you! Everybody gives you the 👍. No one has told me it’s ugly, only it looks sharp. You would love it guaranteed! You would not be disappointed
Love watching your videos chops, all very informative. I treated myself to a MT-10 after watching your review of it & I absolutely love it. Keep up the great work 👍👍
The MT10 is like night and day to ride compared to the Tuono. Im to cramped on the Aprilia (189cm). The MT10 fits me like a glow. The engine sound on the MT10 sounds better than the V4 wich Ive never though but felt after a testride. Strangly my MT09 with flash and custom exhaust gives me more andrenaline rush than the Touno. Offcourse it will crush it on the track. The clinical performance is not as important for me. Its all about what you feel riding it.
SRT SPEEDY Mancaveproduct agreed! I went with the FZ10 (the US MT10) over the tuono factory and got it new , no miles , $8,250 LESS than a factory! I LOvE the sound of an aprilia v4 , especially de-cated , was always tied with my crossplane 2015 R1 , even with a cat. I've been to Jsut one MotoGP race in my life but hearing Rossis Crossplane was life changing! When the FZ10 released I ordered instantly a prototype Cat delete pipe from Termignoni , when I put it on, I was absolutely blown away at how much the sound reminded me of that crossplane GP sound! I'm sure my neighbors hate it but I don't have idiotic US drivers turning into my lane or out in front of me anymore , can hear me for miles and gives me the greatest rush when ripping which as you know , is ALL you do when you own an MT10! 😉 I haven't rode the MT09 but here the crossplane triple is a blast but am 100% satisfied going with the FZ10 , 0 regrets at nearly half the price of a factory but Yamaha reliability and availability of dealers! (In utah USA there isn't an Aprilia dealer within a 1,000 miles of me and that's bad news on a $17,500 Aprilia! Haha. Ride on brother!
Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde bike for sure. I've had my MT10 for a few months now. It's a beast. I call mine The Freak. It's hard to explain this bike to someone other then to say it's kinda crazy. I love it but at same time think wtf did I buy. Lol
Only just found your channel, really enjoy your views, your way of talking about things. Constructive critisism, I don't think a lot of the very wide angle drone shots add anything, unless they were of you spanking along the road maybe. There's my 2 pence!
selling my zx6r in the spring, i just put her in storage for the winter. decided i want a 1000 next season i think im leaning towards the mt10 more as much as ive always wanted a r1 i think ill like the more street focused aspects of the mt10. i live where there is some shit roads and it makes supersports brutal sometimes.
Great review as always.. My personal opinion in terms of how it compares power wise to the Speed and GSX-S though is GSX-S kills in on bottom end torque and feels as though it pulls a little harder at the very top, but the MT10 kils it through the midrange where the GSX-S dipps quite badly.. I found with the Triumph, anything below 8000-9000 kills both the GSX-S and MT10 untill they get really spinning..
Nice Review!!! Had mine since May this year, as you said, firmed up the suspension, had to take the rear up a lot (not set up for big lads out the box) SP engineering system on it, few other tweeks and changes but bloody love it!!! Luckily Still have my license!!! Amazing bike, and bloody good fun!!!
Is there enough adjustment on the factory shock to firm it up for a bigger rider? I'm 100ish kg and was thinking of getting one of these as a next bike... to compliment my much loved MT09 (which is of course way too soft for just about any rider).
Nice review, like the drone shots. I own this bike, done 2000 miles now and just love the way it goes. It still scares me occasionally and I still ride it mostly in std mode (least aggressive) I do like that I've had no mechanical or warranty issues, which was a concern before I bought being a brand new model. Biggest downside of the MT10 is it's massive thirst coupled with a 17 litre tank which brings the fuel light on at 90 miles and is an empty 10 by 120 miles.
I'm surprised there aren't more of these in full black. To me the gray color with yellow wheels make it look like a cheap plastic toy. I've seen an all black one on a showroom floor and it looked absolutely amazing
I'm all about the naked bikes these days, I just picked up a Z800 yesterday for my daily ten minute commute.....should be fun once I've broken it in. I love the looks of the MT-10, like a mean transformer.
Think this bike looks better than the tuono.. The tuono has that front end what just looks like its to far out.. like 4 foot to far out haha.. i like the compact styling of this bike
Brian McCann definitely depends on the track and rider of course. Yamahas Factory rider tested the MT10 at Sazuka prior to the launch of the MT10 and also did times laps on ALL of the base nakeds and Supernakeds and the MT10 destroyed the speed triple along with about everything else. Beat the BMW s1000R (which is faster at other tracks) tied the superduke for 2nd fastest in the group test laps and was only 1.5 seconds off the winning legendary Tuono Factory at a very significant cost savings over the Factory. Jsut depends on rider and track. Motorcycle.coms finding were nearly the same. Amazing how much a track can favor a specific bike even aside from rider. My track day lap times at Miller motor sports park are faster on FZ10 than I was on my 2015 crossplane R1! Go figure? My guess is the torque out of the whole gained me more time than the long back stretch where the R1 had the advantage. I'm no professional by any means but out time some of the supersports on my FZ10. I know the seemingly constant lap champion everywhere is the Tuono v4 1100 Factory but amazed at how close the times are with the MUCH cheaper ,..even non-SP mt10's. Amazing bang for the buck!
had a test ride today on an MT10 and absolutely loved it, unfortunately it was rush hour traffic so spent a lot of time in traffic and filtering, but even slow annoying traffic was easy on this bike, when i got the chance to open up, it was awesome, so comfortable, felt at home right away, i had just tried a triumph RS 765, just didn't gel with it , the triumph looks better and sound great at high revs, but personally , no comparison to the MT10
Because of you, the flyer and English dan i test rode one of these and bought it. You owe me 8k 😆. I got a 2016 minter, low milage, one owner, brembo upgrade and braided hel lines. I absolutely love it. Thanks mate.
Glen Whyte I actually own one and surprisingly enough, it's not very difficult to keep those mesh air ducts clean at all. I wash my bike with a power washer (keeping my distance obviously) & it just blasts away all dirt & bugs so easily! It probably also helps that I wash my bike 1-2x a week too though. XD
Great review Chopsy. Telling it fair and square as always. Im going to trade up my Z1000 next year for either the MT10 SP or Tuono Factory. I get the feeling it going to be a tough choice!!.
+Jay Tee yes I saw that news, bet that's going to be pricey though. The price is the best thing about this bike and the grunt of course! Needs to be about 12 - 13 the SP I think certainly no more
Test rode the MT-10 today and its an absolute fucking beast! I agree with your comments about the looks... definitely marmite. I own a 2017 MT-09 which looks lovely and is quick too but the MT-10...OMFG
I hated the looks but after a test ride of a few bikes the MT10 (non SP) became my first ever new bike in July 2016. It replaced my 2008 Tuono Factory (I had a 2006 non-factory before that and R1s etc before that). The grunt is immense, the invisible screen provides more protection than my tall screen on the Tuonos, I like the honda-like handling but the brakes are below par. B mode is the only mode for me because STD bogs down in town when pulling away and B works fine as long as you don't sneeze at a roundabout. Yes I'd rather have a V4 Tuono or KTM 1290 but I only had 10k to spend and I haven't found myself regretting my purchase so far. The only option that I went for was the comfort seat. After years of sports bikes and nakeds with loud cans I prefer stealth so comfort and relative anonymity prevailed (but I am in my 50s). My only reservation would be the fuel range, I've done a lot of European trips in the past but would be a bit twitchy about taking the MT10 into territory where the fuel stops are less prevalent then in the UK. Nearly forgot... the headlight is crap but do I love every ride? Yes. To look at it's grown on me but then so did the Alfa SZ
+Gazebo Smedley agree with everything! I want to retest one as it's still a contender for my next bike.. biggest thing putting me off is fuel consumption as think that would annoy me and really like the look of the SP version as suspect leccy suspension is very good! Which somewhere did a demo of one
Lamb Chop Rides, interesting that you have the MT10 on your short list too. It is on mine along with the KTM Superduke R. Price no object, which do you prefer being that you have tested both, though you had the 1290 for two weeks and the MT10 only for an afternoon?
Great review Chops, my old mate has one, I had an R1 for 6 years and a Thunderace for 6 years before that and consider myself a proper Yamaha fanboy. However I picked up a Gen 2 Super Duke R last weekend and will not be swayed, wanna buy an S1000r cheap anybody
Had such a laugh at the leaf in the face. I’m alwas surprised how painful a little drizzle can be as as well…like a thousand little needles to the face 😂
You didn't have ago on the mt10sp. I've had the Mt10 & now go the mt10sp. The suspension is 1000 times better. Worth the extra money plus tbh u can get a sp for not much more. I got my sp 2019 for £1000 more than a 2019 standard Mt10 would be.
No never ridden the SP, was saying to a friend yesterday I bet it's nice and good value as the other nakeds have increased in price. Sound incredible too dont they
@@LambChopRides yeah sound amazing got a 3/4 yoshimura system. Will get some R1m headers soon due to they are titanium. Done alot of mods on mine. Inc a custom comfort seat. Yh value of the Mt10 new has gone well up. Standard is around the 12k mark now. Mt10sp is £14759 but have seen them as low as £12795 brand new. Just got shop around. £795 more for a sp compared to a standard one I know what I would get lol.
I am sure it is a great bike but i can't stand the Wall-e front.. That and KTM's origami folded orange never seems to grow on me. Even the Z H2 is acceptable now but they can't hold a candle to my Tuono in the looks department :)
Ugly my arse, everything else on the market is boring and overpriced. Got an SP it’s a do it all bike, commute, go touring, go Loony , it can transforms into what ever u want it to in comfort and with Japanese reliability as standard, what is there to dislike.........the whole MT range sold like hot cakes, they couldn’t make enough now that speaks volumes
having also test ridden them all (except the Tuono because I can't afford one), I thought the GSX-S was a great bike, all things considered, it's very smooth and quick and can be had brand new between £8500 and £9000. The MT-10 is set to rise at least 5% for 2017.
+Big T yes also a great bike my review is online 😉 your also right about price, dealer said he thinks it will go up a grand next year but come with quick shifter.. would rather go without and pit my own on!
Lamb Chop Rides exactly...especially as the Yam QS is £200! Yamaha think people will pay whatever they ask for the MT-10 but they're wrong. The BMW S1000R is the better bike and when you consider that the GSX-S is set to be £2000 cheaper = no brainer.
I’ve had my sp and I wasn’t too sure at first but I love mine , I actually like the looks, but you’re right it’s bonkers and I keep telling myself off when I get off of it.🤦♂️
Nice to see you playing with your new toy Chops👍🏻😎If I had 10K lying around I'd have one in a flash😈 Nice review mate, ya gotta sort out that blurry speedo though!😉🤔😜
I'm getting a new bike soon and having trouble deciding between a heavily modded 2017 yamaha fz-10 and a brand new 2019 ktm 1290 super duke r. I love the looks of the ktm but Its obviously much more expensive here in the states than the yamaha but I just can't get over how mean and cool the duke looks. I'll be test riding both soon so we'll see but I know the ktm is going to have to really impress me more than the yamaha to spend that extra cash. After riding both LCR which would you say you had the most fun riding?
Will finish paying off my MT-07 this year as I've had it for 3 years come August. I will definitely look forward to my next Bike purchase and the MT-10 is what I've been waiting for can't wait. Will need to take a test ride the CP4 engine has the amazing sound with it's growls that are similar to a V8.
@@benjamincs1 Its the firing order in a that specific crossplane Engine inline 4 that gives it a sound completly different than a ordinary inline 4. More like a crossover V8/V4. probably 100+ videos on YT than showcase this specific sound.
@@srtspeedy4983 I agree it's different, but I still don't think it sounds like a twin or V8. Maybe it's more like a V4 than a normal inline 4 is, but I think the change is exaggerated. Cool bike though.
I'm doing same paying off my mt07 but think I'm guna get the mt09sp as it's more all round a better bike in my eyes dont get me wrong the mt10 is amazing but personal choice mt09sp for travelling better fuel on it to
Wow! Well perhaps the leaves wouldn't hurt so much if you slowed a bit! Haha! Great review thoroughly enjoyed it, nice aggressive riding- I think I luv this bike...yeah it's not what one would call beautiful, it's an aggressive bike and it looks it. Keep up the good vids, luv you chaps over there..I'm in Missouri lol!
I know this video is a few years old now Chops, I was wonderingif you have ridden the 2020 version? Assuming it's any different other than colour scheme? I am in a real quandary at the moment, currently saving for a deposit for either one of these or a 1290SDR, having not managed to ride either yet (thanks Covid) I would value your input between the two, budget won't quite stretch to a brand new SDR, but I could do a brand new MT10 vs a 2018ish SDR.
You've not missed anything as regards the 2016 Triumph Speed Triple. I think after my ride and not being too technical about it, I'd describe it as beige.
Lamb Chop Rides I think closer with the drone was better because I could see the bike in more detail. Maybe it's the drone camera combined with the low light of where they bike was that meant the bike was a bit lacking in detail at a distance? Perhaps more light on the bike next time when you're filming at a distance, or a higher image quality setting? Anyway, I like that you're trying the drone. Keep trying things out. And I like your chatty and friendly review style. Best of luck.
Great review! Just one question though... why did you keep referring to it as a heavy bike? Yamaha Canada lists its wet weight as 210kg and Aprilia Canada lists the Tuono as 209kg wet. All the super nakeds seem to be in that ball park.
Ahh I see, I was just watching your Tuono review before that so I had it in my head that you were saying the MT10 was heavy in comparison. I love the Tuono but the MT10 is my front runner for next bike (which of course changes hourly).
if you had seen one in blue you'd love it also the rectifiers still melting on tuono,s ? and there is no warren on KTM,s electrics ide say the mt 10 is a decent bike
What are they like to service? Naked, but it looks like there's quite a lot of panels and gubbins to take off MRA screen would be high on my shopping list - make distance work a bit more bearable
Have a sp . Oil change a doodle , plug change a pain in the butt. Came from the usual years and years of sportsbikes to one of these and absolutely love it ! Have it near 3 years now.
Hey LCR... Loving your videos, you seem to have ridden all of the bikes I'm considering at the moment.... My budget will probably stretch to a fairly recent MT-10 or a slightly older (maybe 15/16) Superduke R... I presume given the choice you'd opt for the SDR? Hoping to ride one fairly soon and I'm also taking out the BMW S1000R and RR this weekend. I rode the MT-10 and fell in love with it immediately. It's ludicrous but awesome at the same time 👍😎
david hurst I actually ended up with a GSX-R1000R which I absolutely love... If I was to get a naked I think it would be the Tuono first followed by an MT-10 Definitely make sure you try ride as many back to back as you can. With some of my test rides there was a few weeks in between which made comparison difficult
david hurst hah I’ve never had a superbike so decided I wanted one before I was too old and got a great deal on a new one.... I’d highly recommend the Tuono, it was so much fun and sounded incredible with the Akropovic but was quite pricey...
Fishter1 i have just sold my Speed Triple and now looking at MT10 , new GSXR and Fireblade, how did you rate the GSXR against the MT10. I test rode the MT10 and fell in love with the exciting sound and wheelies am worried the sound from an a standard in line 4 would be boring now
Had a 2011 FZ1 with 150 rwhp after a full tuning suite. From the dyno charts I've seen on the MT-10, my FZ1 would have been more everywhere. But from what I've heard, the MT-10 is a thirsty beast. My FZ1 was 37-38 mpg. My Ford Focus car gets near 45 mpg with a 2.0L engine. hahahahaha
It is a thirsty beast. I average 30 in the city. It would be lower, but I'm a new rider so I don't crank it up all the time. That and my midwestern city has mostly shite roads. The only other bike I've ever ridden was the MSF course bike with a 200cc motor. It had 16 horsepower, haha. But yeah, my 1.8T Golf gets identical mpgs. And I gotta say the reviewer mentioned the soft suspension - it's adjustable for greater stiffness. Stock settings, tho, are great for broken pavement.
I love my MT10, I'm off to the garage to give it a hug ^^
I've had my 10 since 2016 . One thing that's really bad is the lights when on unlit roads at night.Utter rubbish.
Not one single problem in that time with reliability.Nothings broke, fell off or leaked.
I've ridden in all weathers including snow ( not by choice )
Most fun, Mode B TCS 3 for stretching it's legs.
That sound from the exhaust is wicked.
do you reckon brighter LEDs can fix the light issue or is a design issue? Also how do you find the fuel economy?
It is not a rule I have ever heard of applying except when you are about to begin applying the break.
Maybe slow speed in town, but when you're motoring no chance.
Thank you for this! I wanted a Tuono for 2 years then realized I’m too big for it then been wanting Superduke but thanks to you I may switch to Mt10!
You need to try out a k5/K6 1000 like your r1 engine on steroids the mid range is Unbelievable
Me and the Mrs are looking at a demo what are ur thoughts on 2 up touring on this monster of a machine cheers
@@elvisthewart670 it's not the best for pillion in my opinion Test ride by all means but 2 up changes the bike completely
I love the look. It looks like a decepticon from transformers.
Optimus Prime's nephew!
Spoiler alert, optimus prime goes over a cliff... Rip
Got one. Love it. No more superbikes for me. You really can't feel the weight as it's really well balanced but then I didn't think 210kg kerb was heavy tbh.
+Michael Elwood no your right.. think it's because I just got off a supermoto it felt heavy
just brought a 2016 MT10 with 8k on it. absolutely mint condition and is insane. love it. partX my 2021 MT09 for it. always wanted one. sounds loud as fk especially with the Dcat removed. unreal pops and bangs. over 1k extras. love it puts a hige smile on my face every time i look at it
Well over two years ago I bought one of these and don't regret that decision one bit. Under 10K for this bike was a proper bargain especially compared to the hugely expensive 2011 Multistrada I had before (what an unreliable load of sh## that was!)
The Yam is so comfortable, ridden 1000s of miles across Europe on it, blasted up Alpine roads, done motorways but it's at it's best down deserted B roads.
Thx.
I'm torn. I'm currently 07..I'm looking at 09..but now I might want a 10
Buy one, you won't regret it.
I just got my 21 mt10 and yeah it’s a wild beast that’s for damn sure, feels weird accelerating that hard I feel like I’m tearing space time
No bike is as hideous as the 2021 Ducati Monster. I'm loving the MT styling.
I wonder if they will ever make an XSR1000 with this engine, because the MT-10 is a face only Yamaha can love.
or cybertron :D
It's one of the best looking bikes in the last years. Especially in black.
Ohhh.. it’s grows on you! Everybody gives you the 👍. No one has told me it’s ugly, only it looks sharp. You would love it guaranteed! You would not be disappointed
I watched this and bought 1 , great review 👍
That bike sounds absolutely beautiful with an SC Project exaughst.
I love the looks, very aggressive and outlandish.
Brand new sub. Weighing nakeds for my next bike purchase and this is near the top of my list. Great vid great info
Milli Mill what did you end up getting?
ive noticed on alot of these fast bikes that the speedometer goes fuzzy now and again :P
Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde bike for sure. I've had my MT10 for a few months now. It's a beast. I call mine The Freak. It's hard to explain this bike to someone other then to say it's kinda crazy. I love it but at same time think wtf did I buy. Lol
After mentioning the Gsxs - wich I'm absolutely crazy about- I'm definetly giving this a testride as soon as possible.
Only just found your channel, really enjoy your views, your way of talking about things. Constructive critisism, I don't think a lot of the very wide angle drone shots add anything, unless they were of you spanking along the road maybe. There's my 2 pence!
+billymonkey111 thanks for the feedback Billy cheers 👍
selling my zx6r in the spring, i just put her in storage for the winter. decided i want a 1000 next season i think im leaning towards the mt10 more as much as ive always wanted a r1 i think ill like the more street focused aspects of the mt10. i live where there is some shit roads and it makes supersports brutal sometimes.
Can't beat seeing a power wheelie! Good review, thanks for sharing.
The leaf smack was a classic :) thanks for the video!
Such a great review, I watched it again!
+john harris haha thanks John 👍
Your editing skills are awesome. Great review
+Steve thanks matey 👍
Great review of this beast... Keep up the good work
I'm surprised there aren't more of these in full black. To me the gray color with yellow wheels make it look like a cheap plastic toy. I've seen an all black one on a showroom floor and it looked absolutely amazing
They have a new color, frost white and grey with red wheels.
I have to agree ,but I would mines black
Yeah seen the same locally. Black somehow calms down all the random edges on this beast. Would only buy a black one myself.
I'm all about the naked bikes these days, I just picked up a Z800 yesterday for my daily ten minute commute.....should be fun once I've broken it in.
I love the looks of the MT-10, like a mean transformer.
+InoxEdge have to agree, sportsbikes are dead on the street, getting to old and stiff. And not in a good way!
Good review mate......I like your style of reviews 👍🏻👍🏻
Think this bike looks better than the tuono.. The tuono has that front end what just looks like its to far out.. like 4 foot to far out haha.. i like the compact styling of this bike
Couldn't believe the speed triple was faster than the MT10sp in PB Mag article, speaking of which I enjoyed your latest effort very good indeed.
Amazing bang for the buck!
i like my MT10 so much that when im not riding it i have to watch video's of it, ZX-14 is very dusty
had a test ride today on an MT10 and absolutely loved it, unfortunately it was rush hour traffic so spent a lot of time in traffic and filtering, but even slow annoying traffic was easy on this bike, when i got the chance to open up, it was awesome, so comfortable, felt at home right away, i had just tried a triumph RS 765, just didn't gel with it , the triumph looks better and sound great at high revs, but personally , no comparison to the MT10
Because of you, the flyer and English dan i test rode one of these and bought it. You owe me 8k 😆. I got a 2016 minter, low milage, one owner, brembo upgrade and braided hel lines. I absolutely love it. Thanks mate.
enjoyed your review of the mt10 , my first thought with the looks of the bike was "I bet it's a pain to keep clean/wash"
+Glen Whyte yeah I thought that with the little mesh at the front! Something I never tested 😀
just subscribed !
working my way through some of your other videos.
great stuff and all local which is nice to watch
Glen Whyte I actually own one and surprisingly enough, it's not very difficult to keep those mesh air ducts clean at all. I wash my bike with a power washer (keeping my distance obviously) & it just blasts away all dirt & bugs so easily! It probably also helps that I wash my bike 1-2x a week too though. XD
Viper3870750 thanks.. you put me to shame on the washing your bike front.
I'll have to go and wash my bike this weekend now !
i thinks it looks pretty, i checked it personally yesterday, very compact in person.
LCR: This is their first big capacity naked...
FZ1N: Heeey now I'm right here
Great review Chopsy. Telling it fair and square as always. Im going to trade up my Z1000 next year for either the MT10 SP or Tuono Factory. I get the feeling it going to be a tough choice!!.
+Race Pattern thanks matey, yeah mt-10 sp could be super cool with the r1 electronics and extras... that would be a tough one!
You may want to look into the 2017 SP model.. colour screen, better shocks etc
Thirsty and relatively small tank. Wish manufacturers would stop downsizing tank sizes all of the time.
Lamb Chop Rides, interesting that you have the MT10 on your short list too. It is on mine along with the KTM Superduke R. Price no object, which do you prefer being that you have tested both, though you had the 1290 for two weeks and the MT10 only for an afternoon?
nice review!! I had done a little review had to take it off too many complaints on speed! love this bike
Through personal experience I no super nakeds are easier to ride in the Twisties and more fun
My ford fiesta cost me 13k. I could've got one of these new. Feels bad man
Had such a laugh at the leaf in the face. I’m alwas surprised how painful a little drizzle can be as as well…like a thousand little needles to the face 😂
Nice lead up. Enjoyed the review, thanks!
Stunning bike, love this colour
Yes indeed,, Mt range is amazing,,, they get 10 out off 10,,,just sold my mt9,,,, 10 comes in 2 days,,, yee Haa, fun fun fun
having also test ridden them all (except the Tuono because I can't afford one), I thought the GSX-S was a great bike, all things considered, it's very smooth and quick and can be had brand new between £8500 and £9000.
Very nice review. Maybe my next bike for sure....
Best review yet ...
I’ve had my sp and I wasn’t too sure at first but I love mine , I actually like the looks, but you’re right it’s bonkers and I keep telling myself off when I get off of it.🤦♂️
Put it power 3, feels like a cb1000r then. Only power 1 with TC 1 is bonkers
hahaha lots of fun
4:30 Power Wheelie ☑
Nice to see you playing with your new toy Chops👍🏻😎If I had 10K lying around I'd have one in a flash😈 Nice review mate, ya gotta sort out that blurry speedo though!😉🤔😜
Of course no mention of fuel consumption...
The best Ultimate Cool Test on the net.
+Wes Heiser haha thanks Wes
Love those drone shots LC ;) The Emp-ty looks wicked, it'd be my pick if I had to go naked =D
+TheCrazymook cheers Mr Mook, shame I was on my tod as would of loved some fly by shots too. You should try one 👍
Its on the to do list for test rides next season... not sure if I'm having an early mid life crisis but I really want a Diavel too =)
I'm getting a new bike soon and having trouble deciding between a heavily modded 2017 yamaha fz-10 and a brand new 2019 ktm 1290 super duke r.
A big jump though. Recomend the MT09 for a year before this beast off a machine.
Nah, it's a four. Sounds great but nothing like a V8. If you want that, get a Monster!
I'm doing same paying off my mt07 but think I'm guna get the mt09sp as it's more all round a better bike in my eyes dont get me wrong the mt10 is amazing but personal choice mt09sp for travelling better fuel on it to
great review man. you should try to do a review on the new ktm super duke. For me I think the tuono or supwrduke take the super naked class
Best road bike ever according to Neevesy!
MT-10 Tracer, that's what I want 'em to build.
I had the mt10 bloody awesome bike💥
What made you get rid?
@@MrMichaelConstantine a moment of madness 🤦♂️
Correct. I've had mine for 3 1/2 years.
:) i really really like your reviews , you should do more of these
Watching because I recently fell for the s1000r and as usual looking at something to talk me out of it. I have an fz1
You've not missed anything as regards the 2016 Triumph Speed Triple. I think after my ride and not being too technical about it, I'd describe it as beige.
+Sleepingdragon 1 haha ok matey saves me riding one 😁😁
+Headonnis yes your right it's not, it is when comparing to a sports bike but it's around the same as Tuono and Super Duke. I stand corrected 😊
Ahh I see, I was just watching your Tuono review before that so I had it in my head that you were saying the MT10 was heavy in comparison. I love the Tuono but the MT10 is my front runner for next bike (which of course changes hourly).
sammys next bike! cant wait till next year!
What a review, awesome detail, shame i just bought the Fazer
Certainly a beasty, looks ace in black too!
+Hippo-Drones cheers dude! 😀
I ride a bike for the ride not for
the looks this bike looks fun
Good review. I prefer the GSX-S1000. But I am knocking on.
if you had seen one in blue you'd love it also the rectifiers still melting on tuono,s ? and there is no warren on KTM,s electrics ide say the mt 10 is a decent bike
You have to try the 2016 speed triple R its a whole new animal! and its got the looks!
+Neil Cole (Smoothound675) yes will sort out a ride, have a local Triumph dealer so will see what I can do 😉
Chops u should try mine now its mapped and decat 😎👍
Tried one with a pipe few weeks back and bloody hell it's a really lovely bike! Massive wheelies in 3rd, very responsive engine, really liked it!
Brilliant I love it , s21 bridgestone, sp engineering decat and j33 remap, sorted 👌
Great review and a great bike.
+stig800 cheers Stig!
fully adjustable suspension to harden it up :)
What are they like to service?
Naked, but it looks like there's quite a lot of panels and gubbins to take off
MRA screen would be high on my shopping list - make distance work a bit more bearable
Have a sp . Oil change a doodle , plug change a pain in the butt. Came from the usual years and years of sportsbikes to one of these and absolutely love it ! Have it near 3 years now.
What bike would make a kid look up from his/her phone?
Only one I can think of is the Panigale and maybe MV F4?
It's ludicrous but awesome at the same time 👍😎
I'm having the same dilemma, but am including the speed triple r in my deliberations. What did you go for in the end?
david hurst I actually ended up with a GSX-R1000R which I absolutely love... If I was to get a naked I think it would be the Tuono first followed by an MT-10
Definitely make sure you try ride as many back to back as you can. With some of my test rides there was a few weeks in between which made comparison difficult
@@Fishter1 ha ha thanks! I am trying to get away from superbikes 😂 will defo have to try them all!
david hurst hah I’ve never had a superbike so decided I wanted one before I was too old and got a great deal on a new one....
I ride a 2008 FZ1 its not great on gas but who cares the thing flies. Just turned over 100,000 k.s still running great. I love the look of the MT10
been checking a few videos of yours love your style of reviews and riding, Sub+1
Trying to decide between Mt 10 and monster 1200
I’d buy the Mt10, Ducati’s put out too much heat for me
MT-10. Besides the heat, it's expensive to keep up. At least where I'm from.
As much as I absolutely love the 1200, I gotta go with the mt 10, cheaper and just more usability.
Thats a nice review. The price is right for sure. Cheers!
+Bobby Backmarker thanks Bobby, I really want one now!
