stephen hadley I traded in a Harley fat bob 3 years ago for a fz10 (2017 MT in US) and it tours better than the Harley ever did. Absolutely amazing machine / rides two-up for a few hours comfortably and just goes when you want
Great review sir, I completely agree with all your comments, I've owned one these great machines since early March and covered 2500 miles so far. Didn't hear you mention the cruise control, helps me keep to the speed limits on the motorways. Another comment mentions fuel consumption, since hitting 2k miles I'm getting 45 mpg.
Yes my error, i should have mentioned the cruise control, great addition....I also liked the proper switch gear rather than those flimsy PCB ones you seem to get a lot of these days.....

Yamaha claims 30 ish mpg. 45 sounds a lot better to me. IMO what's the point of having bike if it gets worse mpg than the car I'm driving? Yes, I know a bike is more fun, but getting great mpg is incentive to ride daily. I wasn't aware of cruise control. Great feature especially on long interstate/highway runs. Only "cruise control" I'm aware of was a throttle clamp which seamed dangerous.
Yes, for my bike when brand new the fuel mileage was in the 30's (UK gallons) but now much better. Using a GPS to measure distance & the pump at the service station to measure fuel quantity. However, I didn't buy the SP for its fuel economy.
Tom Slak I think the poor fuel economy might have something to do with MotoGP derived, crossplain, ultra high performance engine. Having 183% of your HP with 71% of your fuel economy seems like progress to me. Stick with your 1983 FJ750MT if it's mpg you're after 😜
Regarding gas mileage, I'm averaging about 28.5 (US) since I bought the Mt-10 just after seeing this review. -That should be an answer for some and, that's not with me tearing around very often - just everyday driving. I've had two Tuono's and can say the range is about the same but mpg may be a bit less because I believe this tank is larger. Would you want to sport tour on this bike with that gas mileage? It certainly has the comfort of my last bike, the SuperDuke 1290 but, that puppy had 2/3rd better gas mileage. The seat is firm but I like it for daily use. Even though it has so much power, I am not "grinding my teeth" in frustration around town like I was on the SD. This is silky smooth and lighter to maneuver. I especially like to change down the power mode in the thick of traffic. It works perfectly there, allowing a progressive "roll on" at the throttle. That's nice too when you want to enjoy the scenery. Some days it just stays in three (rain?) but big fun is just a mode switch away instead of a different bike away. -Jonnyallover
I've just bought an MT10 SP, but I've not picked it up yet. I've been waiting for you to ride the 10. I have an "ordinary" MT10 and it is by far the best thing I have ever bought. I will be 68 next month and when riding this bike I'm a teenager again. Hopefully with a little more self control. I envy you the British roads as i live in Western Australia and the road surfaces require some consideration. I have now had my MT10 for nearly 5 years and I still can't find a bike, that I would want to replace it with and I have ridden lots of others. I am still utterly besotted by this bike. Great review Andy, which has stood the test of time (5 years) very well.
One of the best reviews you've ever done. I have the 850 Tracer but this one seems to offer a new level. When you carry out a review like this to concentrate you seem to be travelling slower than usual. This one however gives the impression of a very high rate of knots. Thanks again.
I took a standard MT10 out for a an hour or so ride a few weeks ago and was completely captivated by THAT sound! It's fabulous and I now know why the fuel consumption is so poor. All you want to do is to keep bollocking this bike. As this was a dealer's demonstrator(thanks Skellerns of Worcester), I left the suspension set up as it was, but I found the front suspension needed softening a little on the spring rate as there wasn't such a good feel under heavy braking on the somewhat rough back roads of Herefordshire. After an hour and a quarter, I also now know why they have offered a 'comfort seat', as an option. It is needed. I have decided, that come spring, I will buy one, but I will probably go for the touring model, because not only do you get the comfort seat, you also get the small screen and panniers. This bikes handles pretty well(once set up to suit) and that bonkers engine!
Just revisiting this video as just bought a immaculate used standard MT10, regrettably the fantastic Triumph street traded in, but can't wait too pick her up this week. Cheers Andy.
Tried the MT10 yesterday and absolutely loved it, interestingly my last bike was a V Strom, and the seating position is very similar, the power is much different, raw power in every gear with the 10, but like a pussycat in traffic, and a delight in town or busy traffic, i love the look of the MT's but always feel the naked bikes need a bellypan for the aesthetics.
Interesting comment here. Would you think that it could satisfy a calm, not very sporty rider? I know it'd be idiotic to buy one precisely because I'm not a sporty rider, but there's something about it...
I bought the 2019 Gray/Red MT10. Truly one of the best bikes I have ridden. I am selling my Super Duke for this one. If I had any complaints it would be the seat but that has an easy remedy. I've watched and enjoyed every review you've done, excellent and informative work. The MT10 SP is the only bike that has genuinely excited you. I test rode one and I realised why.
Great review...I had an MT09 last year and wish i had kept hold of it, now on a fireblade but the smile factor doesn't compare with the yamaha....The MT10 SP has really got my interest, especially after your input...Thanks Mr flyer :-)
That bit of road out from Stokenchurch (or towards it I suppose...) is one of my favourites too, there's some really good roads out that way towards Thame as well. Really enjoy your channel!
Another thoroughly enjoyable review. Well done and thank you. Must say don't recall seeing you push a bike to these kinds of speeds, didn't think you were interested in going higher than any speed limits. Yours faithfully: One of the kids!!
Hehe, glad you enjoyed it...and one of the reasons I don't have a super powerful bike (well nothing over 150bhp anyway) is because I can't trust myself to behave! These bikes are simply brilliant, but not sure my licence would stay clean for long. Thanks for watching -TMF
Looks the business.... and the sound of it, I was wondering when you were going to get your hands on one... !! Got me thinking now with this review !!! Love the styling....
I already want one of these like crazy but if they release this version over here in the states I think I would be sold!! Beautiful machine and love that it has an upright seating position. Great review and thank you!
Had my standard MT10 10 months now and love it. Never seen a speedo bleeped out so much before! It does encourage spirited riding. For a taller bigger rider I find this bike super comfortable, I shall be touring the Alps on it later in the year. Great review BTW the BMW S1000R fan boys are going to be crying.
AussieRider My point was trying to say BMW S1000R fans may get upset that MF rates the MT10 above it. Both are great bikes although some will argue the the Aprilia Tuono is better than both. Value for money wise, I paid under £10K sterling for the standard bike and I considered that great value for what I got.
Nicely done 1st impression. You make it sound very attractive. .... I don't know what is going on in the UK, but it seems like most of the reviews for cars and motorcycles are coming from your side of the pond. Whatever the reason, hope you guys keep up the good work. ;-)
OK I've finally bought an MT-10. I didn't get the SP because I got such a mega deal on mine. 2016, one owner, full yamaha service history, low milage, brembo master cylinders, braided hel lines. 8k. Goes like stink. Thanks for the amazing review, it pointed me in the right direction.
The Gaist van with the funny camera on the roof was a road condition mapping vehicle. Another application of super wizzy new technology that made the MT10 so much fun. Hope your favourite local twisty road gets a better surface as a result (but don't hold your breath).
Had a test ride on a Std MT10, bought the SP, arrives next week, bit gutted my new SpeedyR doesn't do it for me, I've had four Speedys over the years but the new version isn't that much quicker than my 2005 1050, Beautifully screwed together though! I don't think I'll miss it as we have a Street triple RX as well and I positively love that bike. Thanks for your detailed reviews mate, now it's time to enjoy the coming New Zealand summer 👍
I know how much you love to ride those new bikes.. But I hope you'll give these two a try: ZZR 1400 and the H2 both by Kawasaki!! You want power that is unmatched.. Those are it!! All in all, great review!!
Thanks beozzie690 - I don't yet have a way to ride Kawasaki's but I'd certainly love a go....although to be honest, for road riding I think even the MT10 is probably waaaay more than I need (fun though it is my licence would be in serious peril if I owned one)....
Ive revisited this review as i have an opportunity to buy a new MT10SP and seeing this excellent review has been helpful. The problem is i already own a standard MT10, so is it worth upgrading? Looking back i don’t think I’ve seen you ride so fast on any other reviews!😉 I don’t really want anything other than Yamaha either as in my opinion they make the best engines. Decisions Decisions 🤔
I blame you TMF ! Well you and a mate of mine, less than 2 weeks now and I pick up my new MT10 SP😁 I was unsure after the test ride on a standard MT but took one look at the SP and said yes. Bearing in mind that my bike at the moment is a FJR 1300 I think I’m having a mid life crisis it’s the complete opposite of my bike . I do like your videos very good.
Thanks for the reply ,, like all your reviews cos the way you do them makes it interesting,, even if it's something I don't necessarily like ,, so good stuff keep them coming Shane
Finally! Looks like a proper machine. That front, however, looks like a nightmare to clean. Interesting to hear that you've clearly put S1000R behind Super Duke and MT-10. Have you tried Aprilia Tuono? A bit more pricey but even more bonkers from what I've heard.
Well it's just my opinion AussieRider, we can't all agree all the time, sorry you feel the need to resort to this type of comment - all the best to you anyway - TMF
AussieRider Like he said, it's just his opinion. I prefer the look of my 03 Hornet over the all these MT's and the S1000 R. Most people would probably disagree but it's just my opinion. As for his riding ability, he is much more like my style of riding so I'd take his comments over someone who is flat out with it cranked over at every opportunity because it's more appropriate to me
I'm not entirely keen on the looks of it but having ridden one a couple of months ago, I quickly forgot them tbh. It's just a beast of a bike where you can open it up but I found it quite civilised round town and handled like my street triple on the twisties.
Thanks Richard - I've had varying answers on that one but let's go with that for now ;0) ...and yes, this is one rapid machine in the road speed realms anyway...
Yamaha have used SP a number of times over the years. It all started in the 80's with TZR and YZF models - the SP versions being the road going versions of the race bikes. Acronyms are usually what we expect them to stand for... except the Lexus LC500 (not 'luxury coupe') which stands for Lexus Challenge - to produce a car exciting enough to never feature the word 'boring' in the same sentence... apparently :-D
Love the review. Cracking bike. Might be my next bike acquisition 🤔 FYI, at approx 15:45 you mentioned that it opens up into 2 carriageways - 2 lanes yes, but only a single carriageway 😉
brutal machine really awesome lucky you on the SP .. i believe you would be happy on the standard just as good. would of course love the ohlins and colour screen but not always needed.. one the reaction you love it when that power and the sound of the engine you instantly fall in love!! haha wicked bike the other thing with this bike easy to loose your licence !! too easy to bomb it!
+alf786 Yes I agree with that 100%....and would love a go on a standard machine for comparison purposes (I also like the grey/Fluoro colour scheme on the standard bike)....
Great review, but being a glass-half-empty sort of fellow, those radiators behind the front wheel don't half look vulnerable to damage from road debris. What think you?
No doubt you could get an aftermarket oil cooler guard if you don't think the one already fitted is up to the job. Some fully faired sports bikes have their oil coolers in exactly the same place, it's just you can't see them as clearly!
Great review. As always. Only thing I would say, and I understand why you do it but the blurring is really annoying. There must be a more subtle way to do it?
Sorry about that David, I'm sure there is with more sophisticated software and better editing skills, m'fraid I'm not very good at the creative/techie stuff....cheers - TMF
Hi TMF your reviews are the best on youtube, I am about to buy a new bike and am torn between this MT10 SP and the Tuono. I've seen both of your reviews and can see you like them both. Im just curious, If you were going to buy one which one would you go for?
Looks look a great bike... only thing I don't like from the review is the "stop to change mode" requirement. I love being able to switch quickly between sport and touring modes mid-ride to adjust for conditions or riding style changes - I'd hate to go to a bike that can't do that. Obviously a niggle but it would be an annoying one since I change modes at least once or twice on most rides.
Yeah I agree, I understand you can work around it by varying specific parameters at a time to achieve the same effect, but sounds like a bit of a faff to me!
It's actually a bit odd that they'd let you muck about with the underlying settings on the fly rather than just switch between modes that you've already dialed in for your various riding moods. And yea; for me it usually comes down to mood... as in : "I'm not in the mood to get pounded into mush on the bumpy highway so sport mode is out" to "I'm in the mood for shenanigans so sport mode is in".
Finally getting around to test riding one tomorrow. I like the styling, it works in a way the new CB1000R just doesn't for example. The front brake does seem to come in for some criticism but for me only question marks are seat comfort (i suspect I'll go straight for the 'comfort seat', though i think this is just a money making wheeze) and fuel consumption / range. The killer though is that engine noise and i think it is that, above almost everything else, that has people hooked.
Great reviews TMF! Would love to hear your opinion about the Aprilia Tuono which is probably in the same category as the MT10. I have tested the Tuono and found the engine and exhaust sound to be intoxicating.
I'm stuck in a time warp of bikes ,, as over the yrs I've chased the dragon of manufactures lastest better than the last one, and you trade that bike in for the latest best one ,,, then one day you look back and see how much money you've wasted when really they all have round wheels and a fuel tank etc etc nothing's changed ,,, but it's nice to see there latest incarnations of the years old invention of two wheels thanks Shane
I completely agree Shane, they're all fast, why keep trying to keep up - I'm not intending on changing any of mine.....if they worked for you then then they should work for you now!
never seen you ride like that 😆. I've been knocked off my new gsxs1000 and considering one of these as a replacement. I prefer the sp because of the swingarm and ohlins...so is it worth every penny mate?
Awesome review !! I just love this bike . I have a question for you, can I use this mt as a tourer ( comfort seat, windscreen) + with my girl or should I go for the new tracer 9 gt? I own a cb650r for now , I love naked bikes that's why I thinking about this mt instead of the new tracer 🤔 what's your opinion ? Just something more , I'm 26 years old ,I ride almost 5 years so I'm not so experienced rider, should I afraid to go for the mt ? Thank in advance
Great review! What do you reckon between the regular MT10 and the S1000R? I'm still trying to get used to the crossplane-4 noise though, I'm personally more of a fan of the traditional inline-4 sound.
Well, MrFriday00, I much prefer the MT-10 to the S1000R from a looks and riding viewpoint. The S1000R is a great bike, but perhaps a bit too good (clinical even), I just got on better with the Yamaha, felt faster too....although it may well not be, it seemed more brutal and savage, loved it. All the best - TMF
TheMissendenFlyer I totally get what you mean. I personally like the devilish characteristics of the MT10 (I own an MT09 so of course I'm into that sort of thing lol) just the same amount as I like the more seriousness/sportiness of the S1000R so I'm really having a hard time deciding. The one silly thing that's stopping me from going all the way to the MT10 side is the noise it makes (personally I think the S1000R sounds wonderful)
TMF, do you think the looks of this bike will age well? Personally i dont think its ugly or anything, however I do think it would grow old quickly for me. When it comes to supernakeds it would probably be a Tuono or a KTM for me.
+Speed and Solitude Yeah that's a good point, I don't know...and I agree the Tuono is a cracking looking machine...would love to ride one one day - all the best - TMF
Great upload. Never liked the looks but the SP finish just seems to take it up a level, I actually think this looks good. Shame it does not have the M50's. All of the current crop of super naked bikes (KTM, Aprilia, BMW and Yamaha) are confident inspiring in my opinion, and seem to win every rider over. I'm not sure if they are that rewarding to ride as they make it all so easy, but who cares when they're that much fun. If it was that good, surely with a stable of your caliber, you would make room ;) Maybe try the Aprilia first, for me and many others it's the winner and undoubtedly the best performing - shame they are overlooked by most consumers for the big brands.
+Jim 86 Yes I'd love to make room Jim, sadly since I retired last year my finances don't allow me to buy bikes like I used to be able too....maybe one day, or if the wife forces me back to work :0)
Great reviews, all of them! I noticed that when you're filming with your iphone, the zoom seems to be rapidly flickering, if that makes sense. Or maybe it's the autofocus having a hard time autofocusing. Either way, the image sort of frequently slightly zooming in and out, very annoying to my eye.
Enjoyed that one TMF I love the look of the MT10 but you've made me want one even more now. Just think it might be a bit excessive and a tiny bit heave for my wife so may have to go with the 09. Need to get to ride them both and see. Maybe upgrade from the 03 next year. She thinks it's a bit underpowered for overtakes etc however she does like the light flicky nature for the commute. Cheers Richard
TheMissendenFlyer Hi TMF just re-watched this again. Upgraded my wife’s 03 to a 07 last year after only three months 🙄😉 but after spotting a ‘touring’ version of the 10 at the weekend we’re already hankering after another upgrade 😬😋
I love the MT10, I bought one thinking, 'if I really like it, then I could upgrade to an SP' And yes I do love my MT10. But it raised an unexpected realization. I actually don't need an SP because I'm actually completely happy with the MT10 the stock suspension is great, and adjustable, make it hard, make it soft, whatever your flavour. I would dearly love a super duke 1290, and I'm a massive KTM fanboy, but I weighed up the pricing and I was lucky enough to get a 2017 MT10 with 600 miles on it for just over 9 grand. Its the performance bargain of the decade, OK the levers are a bit cheap and you can see it's built to a price, but who cares its superb all day long. It's a very steady bike and gives you good confidence, it's not nervous when the front end gets light (unlike my 98 blade which is more like an underpant soiling simulator), not a fan of the bridgestone tyres though, but some people like them, maybe it's a climate thing, i think I will swap those out for Metzelers, Michelins or Dunlops.
I just bought a brand new standard MT10 today. I must have watched this video 50 times. I can’t wait to pick it up.
enjoying it?
Yes it’s a blast. Smooth engine and useable grunt. Chews the juice a bit. Cruise control is a bonus. Comfortable tourer.

Yes I agree Neil - one of my favourite local rides....and thanks!
wow! perfect all rounder! The acceleration is absolutely brutal! 😱
Tell me about it! Brilliant, brilliant bit of kit....
Yeah this thing is something else - go have a go, you'll love it!
really enjoyed this review very professional many thanks tony
Thank you Tony - very kind of you to say so...
I already want one of these like crazy but if they release this version over here in the states I think I would be sold!! Beautiful machine and love that it has an upright seating position. Great review and thank you!
You're very welcome- thanks for watching - TMF
Finally got round to taking it out today...wow amazing!!
Told you it was good!
Cheers Banditmanuk, glad you enjoyed the review - fabulous bike,I really enjoyed it and I imagine it would be a hoot to tour on...all the best - TMF
YAAAAASS ! I was waiting for this !!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Mr. Flyer !!!!
Enjoy....I did!!
Nicely done 1st impression. You make it sound very attractive. .... I don't know what is going on in the UK, but it seems like most of the reviews for cars and motorcycles are coming from your side of the pond. Whatever the reason, hope you guys keep up the good work. ;-)
Really? Wonder why that is....anyway, I shall keep it up as long as you keep watching! All the best - TMF
Sounds good - is it grey with yellow wheels? (that was my fave).....
@@TheMissendenFlyer yes it is, I love those colours to.
The Gaist van with the funny camera on the roof was a road condition mapping vehicle. Another application of super wizzy new technology that made the MT10 so much fun. Hope your favourite local twisty road gets a better surface as a result (but don't hold your breath).
Aha! Thanks for that, bizarre looking contraption....
I agree, love the looks of this bike...very modern and aggressive!
Agreed.
Another great review by a real world biker. I note the offended comments by the BMW riders below, which gave me a chuckle.
+Stizzy Grayson Thanks Stizzy, I'm a BMW rider too! ...motorbikes certainly seem to bring the passions out in people don't they...
I've watched this a few times, excellent video. I'm a regular follower, I have the standard mt-10, and I love it.
Glad you enjoy it!
Had a test ride on a Std MT10, bought the SP, arrives next week, bit gutted my new SpeedyR doesn't do it for me, I've had four Speedys over the years but the new version isn't that much quicker than my 2005 1050, Beautifully screwed together though! I don't think I'll miss it as we have a Street triple RX as well
and I positively love that bike. Thanks for your detailed reviews mate, now it's time to enjoy the coming New Zealand summer 👍
Take it easy Phil - that SP is a brute! ....I think it's my favourite of the big nakeds....
The review Ive been waiting for. Hopefully my next bike being reviewed by a trusted source.
Thank you for your kind words - appreciated....and you won't be disappointed with this beast!
Ill be going from an 09 Street Triple R so its got big shoes to fill :D
Don't worry, it'll fill them admirably!
Mine is getting delivered on Friday, can't wait!
Congratulations Lloyd - exciting times!
Another amazing genuine review. Love your vids TMF keep making them.
Thank you Alex....will do...
You can change mode on the 'fly', just have to select and close the throttle and it switches over. Very nice review though thank you
Brilliant review, thank you. I'm looking at the MT10 Touring 👌
there thirsty
test rode one of these Mr flyer and I gotta say I thought it was superb, hard to fault and at a acceptable price. Yamaha nailed it.
100% agreed, one of my favourite bikes, if not my current favourite.....
Just Brought 1 2018 9000 grand 834 miles on clock what a weapon mint condition will keep forever great review
You paid 9 million dollars??? You got ripped off man.
LOL!! Like you I enjoy my motors. When I'm over on holiday, Maybe I'll let you have a go on one of mine. Like you I live to ride each and every day..
See... this review makes me want one lol.... we all need a bit of brutal in our lives. Great video my friend...
I agree 100% (about the brutal bike thing, not necessarily my video...)
I've not ridden the standard bike but my gut feel is that I wouldn't have noticed any difference....
Great review - that bike really "hauls the mail" - super-fast!
I seen a review of this back from another vlogger. Super nice bike! Thanks for your review, I learned a lot.
Great to have you along as ever - all the best - TMF
wow what a beast of a bike ..love your reviews Mr F you are riding some top bikes at the moment😊
Thank you Keith, and I am indeed, its a lot of fun! (much better than work that's for sure!).....
I hope In the future you get a chance to review the MT10 touring edition. Would love to hear your thoughts ! Thanks got another great video man!
Yes if one becomes available to me I sure will - loved the MT-10 SP.....
Really like these....very tempted to get one next....would be a nice upgrade from my 2016 STreet Triple.
Good choice!
Thanks for a great review mate. you had me grinning throughout! Probably a bike that could bring out the rebel in anyone...
Agreed, a real licence losing funster - loved it.
Cheers Tony and congratulations!
Tony Pammen did the same thing mate. 60 years old and fjr to sp
Thanks for the reply ,, like all your reviews cos the way you do them makes it interesting,, even if it's something I don't necessarily like ,, so good stuff keep them coming Shane
Thank you Shane, good to know and great to have you along on the rides as ever....all the best - TMF
Tried one today and ohhh my its so much fun. So much character
Finally! Looks like a proper machine. That front, however, looks like a nightmare to clean. Interesting to hear that you've clearly put S1000R behind Super Duke and MT-10. Have you tried Aprilia Tuono? A bit more pricey but even more bonkers from what I've heard.
Yes I'm afraid, for me, the S1000R isn't in the room...and no not tried the Tuono, but would love too....
Yeah, as you could tell - I loved it!
I just watched a review on a new zero electric motor bike and the torque that makes is eye watering,, just a shame they are so expensive thanks Shane
Yeah, I'd love to have a go on one of those, I bet they're wild....
SP stands for Sport Production. Good to hear it's comfortable, that surprised me. It certainly looks Monster 1200R quick!
Good review. All the other reviews I've seen have had monster wheelies. Did you have the anti wheelie on or off? Thanks
Awesome stuff, what a machine. I'm just starting out and have just bought the MT125 as I can't have this "yet" 😉
Your time will come, be patient and learn your craft!
Love the review. Cracking bike. Might be my next bike acquisition 🤔
FYI, at approx 15:45 you mentioned that it opens up into 2 carriageways - 2 lanes yes, but only a single carriageway 😉
Amazing review! Keep up the good work :)
Keep the "Hey Kids" so the kids will remember who they are!!! Love the channel, not many compare!
You're very kind! ...and will do...
if i get this bike will the screen go blurry when passing like yours does?
I doubt it - you have to pay a lot for that feature...
yes
Hi!
I really enjoy your videos👍
If you should compare the mt 10sp to the monster 1200s, wich one would you prefer and why?
Cheers😊
brutal machine really awesome lucky you on the SP .. i believe you would be happy on the standard just as good. would of course love the ohlins and colour screen but not always needed.. one the reaction you love it when that power and the sound of the engine you instantly fall in love!! haha wicked bike
the other thing with this bike easy to loose your licence !! too easy to bomb it!
+alf786 Yes I agree with that 100%....and would love a go on a standard machine for comparison purposes (I also like the grey/Fluoro colour scheme on the standard bike)....
Oh and good review in the usual classy neat style cheers Shane
Thank you...
That looks amazing !! another great review thanks TMF
Cheers Glenn - it felt amazing too!
I so want one of these! My sensible head says no, when would you actually use it to it's potential but my heart says "who cares"!
You won't too many speed cameras ect a bike with that much power is only about bragging rights
Great review. I'm not going to test ride one though, probably too powerful for me, I'm still perfectly happy with my FZ-09.
Fair enough...and very sensible, good plan...
I do miss my R1,older now and these super nakeds are for me. I miss the 4cyl whine. I love it- Did it feel heavy?
No quite the opposite - very light....
I sold my MT09 and bought the MT10. So much better! The best bike I have owned. Does everything well and so much fun to ride.
I'm planning on doing the same next year
In Newfoundland Canada
Great review, but being a glass-half-empty sort of fellow, those radiators behind the front wheel don't half look vulnerable to damage from road debris. What think you?
Maybe, who cares, it's such a brutal/brilliant machine!
No doubt you could get an aftermarket oil cooler guard if you don't think the one already fitted is up to the job. Some fully faired sports bikes have their oil coolers in exactly the same place, it's just you can't see them as clearly!
The one sold in the US is called a FZ-10. Are they the same bike?
by the looks of it yes!!
Yes they sure are...
Road Buster USA doesn't have the SP version yet, other than that yeah
As per recent news, Yamaha will drop the "MT" branding and will use the "FZ" for same bikes across regions.
Great review. As always. Only thing I would say, and I understand why you do it but the blurring is really annoying. There must be a more subtle way to do it?
Sorry about that David, I'm sure there is with more sophisticated software and better editing skills, m'fraid I'm not very good at the creative/techie stuff....cheers - TMF
personally I like the looks of the fz09 more but this bike is a looker, great vid
Cheers Jorge.....
Great detailed review as usual, now I'm thinking about trading my Speedy!!!!!
....I must admit, I love a Trumpet, but the MT-10SP is a step up from the Speedie!
Positively down with the kids this guy. Great vid.
Thanks 👍
Another great review!
I appreciate that!
Hi TMF your reviews are the best on youtube, I am about to buy a new bike and am torn between this MT10 SP and the Tuono. I've seen both of your reviews and can see you like them both. Im just curious, If you were going to buy one which one would you go for?
I’d probably go for the MT10....but its marginal!
Please review the Aprilia Tuono 2017!? Great review like always
WOuld love too - just need to find someone to lend me one!
Yeah, it certainly works for me, as does its smooothness
Great reviews TMF! Would love to hear your opinion about the Aprilia Tuono which is probably in the same category as the MT10. I have tested the Tuono and found the engine and exhaust sound to be intoxicating.
Would love a go on one...stay tuned!
I think so yes!
I think you'll prefer the MT10.....
Yes well it is all subjective - I loved the sound of the Yamaha (come to think of it the BMW sounded great too)....leave that one with you!
TMF, do you think the looks of this bike will age well? Personally i dont think its ugly or anything, however I do think it would grow old quickly for me. When it comes to supernakeds it would probably be a Tuono or a KTM for me.
+Speed and Solitude Yeah that's a good point, I don't know...and I agree the Tuono is a cracking looking machine...would love to ride one one day - all the best - TMF
lovely video. do you think there will be a permanent place in the garage for a so called hyper naked?
I'd love there to be one....maybe one day if/when finances permit (or if I decide to sell one of my existing bikes)....cheers - TMF
+Jim 86 Yes I'd love to make room Jim, sadly since I retired last year my finances don't allow me to buy bikes like I used to be able too....maybe one day, or if the wife forces me back to work :0)
I currently have a mt09 Tracer is there much power difference? I plan on trading the Tracer in for the sp 😁
Oh yes - a big beautiful step up in power....
Nice vid, also nice of the shop to loan you the bike! How do you compare it to the trumpie as you are quite a fan of those?
Compares very well...I possibly prefer it.....
TheMissendenFlyer might consider upgrading to it if I ever get bored of my current ride, great review
Yes I've noticed that too...
Maybe try a Samsung Galaxy phone?
...now you';re being silly :0)
FYI you can change the riding modes on the fly when you're either off the throttle or with the clutch in
+wingsdesire1 Ah thanks for that - should have tried, the dealer told me you couldn't!
Awesome review :) looking at buying this bike. Were your a.ss uncomfortable dispite the comfort seat, after a while i mean?
+Typical Swedish Biker I was too scared to notice any discomfort!!! Felt great to me but then I didn't ride the bike for hours on end (sadly)...
LOL
Another good review.
Thank you sir!
Enjoyed that one TMF
I love the look of the MT10 but you've made me want one even more now.
Cheers
Richard
+Richard Sherwin ...after an '03 the 10 will feel like a ballistic missile!!
TheMissendenFlyer lol, yes I bet. She's had a CBR6 and a R6 so had a bit of available speed, but I agree I'm sure it's a fast beastie:-)
