    This video was one of the very many I watched and then, I went out an bought an MT10 with comfort seat, screen, radiator guard, handguards and then put on a Givi rack. Was buying it a good decision? Oh yes. Everthing people say about these bikes(with the exception of the brakes) is spot on. I am utterly besotted by mine after nearly 4 years. The sound and that engine.... words nearly fail me. Just magnificent.

    Can I Jsut say I had 2 years In the saddle of a new MT10 and I was comming from the '15 R1 ,..several R1's actually, some Ducatis etc..and I 100% LOVED my MT10 MORE than ANY bike I've owned!!!! I did EVERYTHING on it all the time, daily commuted to work on it year round snow and sunny summer, I weekend thrashed it, I toured it and tracked it and it did EVERYTHING!!! By far my favorite bike I've owned!!! And I had the base MT10 so I'm sure the SP is that much more!!! Absolute best thing I did,..$120 cat delete pipe!!! Sounds straight motoGP!
    And to yamaha,..IT IS ABSOLUTELY A NAKED R1,..well A SUPERNAKED R1!!! The percent of the bike that is R1 is so huge it's stupid to say it's not. For example the entire full system exhaust is 100% R1 in its dimmensions, size etc , only difference is headers are titanium not he R1 but no better air flow. Engine it's Jsut some titanium to cast bits that the MT10 doesn't need because it's not reving as high and it has MORE TORQUE than the R1 so u don't feel the weight. All the way around it's literally a more fun R1 that wheelies and wheelies and wheelies!!!!
    Let me also say,..after 2 years,..I had ZERO problems. Zero issues, zero recalls, power got even better , bike for better somehow but I for shits and giggles with my little cat delete pipe did a Race filter, NelsTune ECU flash, shorty levers , full set of sliders and the power and torque rhat was already unreal was insane once adding the rest. Stock 160hp MT10 is the quickest 0-60mph performing motorcycle on earth ,SO for street use around town it's quicker to 60 than a superduke 1290R soooo.... half the price,..yes please!!! After 2 years I'm buying another , used, they are roughy $7,500 now in the Us for a 2017!! I'll take one!

    I have watched this video about 30 times because i was looking to get a new bike and this was on the top of my list, manly because my last bike was a 2009 R1 and i love the sound of the cross plain crank. This is a great review and you guys are a crackup, So i finally pulled the trigger and picked up my MT10SP last week and this thing is blowing my mind, its soooo good and so much fun to ride its amazing, easily better than my 09 R1 was, loving it!

    Rode the 2023 MT-10 SP recently and was amazed how much I liked it. Did not feel as heavy as the 473lb spec would suggest. Comfortable yet sporty. Fast yet well mannered at low speeds. Easy to ride yet uber capable. Stock exhaust is too quiet, but that is easily fixed.

    Just realised something about Baron Von Grumble. He's like every other successful dude out there. You see the good shit, like riding exotic machinery through paradise. But forget the bad shit, like struggling to find your fingers in -3, or lying awake at night trying to figure out why your bespoke bike isn't running quite right. I know I'm a bit late to the party with this comment, but, ride safe you legend. Your dedication to bikes is your greatest asset.

    i think this is the best motorcycle on the market right now.
    1 better than a Ducati Street Fighter V4 S? Yes. Because we are not rich.
    2 better than an R1M? yes. Because we are not racers, we have to go to work every day. it has to be comfy..
    3 better than a cb1000r? of course. the power is incomparable.
    4 better than a strettriple rs? Turn to question 3.
    5 better than a Superduke1290? Turn to question 1.
    Of course we all want to buy a Ducati Panigale V4 R. But.. Turn to question 1..

    The thing that always shocked me was Yamaha has known that BRAKES are the ONLY gripe aside from the seat which Yamaha addressed. But like Al said, for a bike THIS fast, the brakes should feel comforting, most people say the brakes feel "wooden" . As someone that bought the bade model MT10 at launch BECAUSE of the Barron's review,..#1 after 26 years of riding and owning nothing but superbikes ;.. 42 years old, buying the 2017 MT10 was the best decision I've made in motorcycling, hand down!!! I owned it 2 years ONLY sold because of a divorce and regretted every day since. I used it as my daily commuter to work as well as weekend pleasure and touring AND track days. 2 years owning,..NOT ONE PROBLEM or need for the dealer !!! The yamamha reliability goes even further with the MT10 . My buddies Tuono Factory had been in the shop 3 times in the same 2 years AND he has to ship it to an out of state dealer at HIS own cost! Oh lol my point was I believe 100% that a large majority of people commenting on the "wooden" brakes feel , have NO idea what that even mean. People heard that reference in one of The initial reviews of the MT10 that was big and he compared it goths r1s brakes saying essentially he'd owned a 2015 R1 currently as his track bike and the brakes feel wooden, he wished they'd done Brembos. He said the MT10 he hoped they'd upgrade but OBVIOUSLY if the r1M doesn't useanbrembo package, the BUDGET MT10 naked R1!isnt going to add that cost. So heimmidately before even sitting on the MT10 for the review said he looked at the system and no Brembo change so he "is gong to expect the wooden feel for the MT10 and probably it's only flaw". Eneryooooooone of the RUclips wannabe "professionals " read the proffesions reviews, and then essentiall agrees. But PLEASE anyone considering an MT10 , know that MOST of those comments are from people that have never drag a knee or even know what wooden brakes means. Was a comment by a pro that rode moroGP at one point so yes he could see that. It did show tho that he was biased before he got on the bike saying he wasn't expecting a change and the power of suggestion. To your own mind is amazing. Bassicly if that guy had said YAMAHa fixed the brakes, beat brakes in motorcycling now, and hadn't used the term wooden, no one would associsate it . My pet peeve as an MT10 owner is watching "first ride" videos on RUclips of the MT10 and 95% of them, some self proclaimed "pro" pulls out the dealership and gives the throttle 1/2 roll and panics getting to he first stoplight goes on about how unreal it is but the "brakes feel wooden" Lolol check that box in their review to make sure they sound pro. None of them even brake hard in the reviews???? How do they know their feel wooden then? They felt identicle to my r1M which was SOfar beyond my ability on track. I still regret that I replaced the stock pads before riding it once becuse of the reviews . Yes the inexpensive EBc pad change were awesome pads, but I didn't know the difference to see if the felt better. Yamaha has had some of the most talented engineers in the world working on fixing the brake issue they are told of wooden feel making changes for the MT10 launch but didn't reveal that till after SO all the press still literally said "no brembo change" ??? The media and a pro got enverykne famously calling R1 brakes wooden . If you are one of them that's sad. Brakes were great for me street and track, the MT10 was an R1 striped down to be an affordable sport motorcycle. They weren't going to add Brembos to the budget naked R1 and yes they could have added them to the SP which I think most expected,I think they should have just to change that mentality of reviewers but then any Yamaha without Brembos would have cheap brakes so I commend Yamaha for sticking to their guns. Look up the data on brake and pad changes for the MT10 . The data ALL shows that people say they feel so much better on a pad upgrade or system upgrade but the tests show identicle performance!!!! So it's a feel thing, not a reality thing for most. 95% of motorvloggers on RUclips can't do a wheelie , but all are experts on bikes. I bought my MT10 becaue a. Motorcycle wreck in 2006 made me unable to ride sueorsports without pain. I found to my glorious surprise that a Supernaked cheap R1 (MT10 ) was the greatest buy and decision I've makes in motorcycles. I could never wheelie aside from a quick pop up, but found myself obsessed with them on the MT10. Reviews always fail to mention the wheelbase is shorter, bars taller and obviously flat, gearing shorter and retuned which all make the MT10 feel SO much more nimble than the R1 . Wheelies alllll day long with ease. Another reducuous comment is when people say it's "ONLY " 160hp. That's a preconcence notion that Bikeworld.com said said it's down on power from the top supernakeds and you feel it" when if u look at their results, the MT10 had a better 0-60mph than the Tuono Factory and sueprduke!!! In fact the MT10 is TH3E quickest production motorcycle on earth to 60 mph , which bytheway is where more preppie enjoy the torque. It Also produced MOrE torque than the R1 and at much lover revs! So 160hp vs 175 of the superduke is "lacking" buuuut their numbers show it's QUICKER"??? Huh wierd . Bikeworld is biased to the European kings of exotics Aprilia and KTM. The idea a half priced Yamaha could be as good was NOT acceptable! So they pushed the nanrative with articles about how the new MT10 bike of the year across the board was great but u can tell a difference from a superkeuke . Lol my question is where????? The MT10 out tested the tip 2 su

      It does tick most of the overall boxing depending on the country your in for price. Most of the new supernaked seem well sorted, even better in many area's of performance and suspension, they just don't have that look, it's not bland, it's a statement and of coarse the way you feel when riding this bike, perhaps like a 60 year old man that just won lotto and now you have a 30 year old girlfriend with big bazookas and always happy to play.

    Its a tough call between this bike and a Tuono 1100.
    I'd say if you can get the Yamaha cheaper it wins but = price I'd get the Tuono.
    Yamaha = more dealer support, smooth engine, comfy, ugly AF
    Tuono = more power, better track toy, exotic

Not to mention that with 170rwhp it still makes it 160 miles on a 4.9 gallon tank. It power wheelies a hard 5th gear shift with a -1 front cog, and that is around 100mph. Stock trim my 1290 put 156hp 92ft/lbs at sea level, 170hp and 106ft/lbs at 1000ft with the full exhaust airbox andtune.

    Here in Canada, the FZ-10 and S1000R are around $15 500 -$16 000. The Beemer has better brakes, and active suspension, and is up 5 HP to 165 for 2017. The FZ-10 also has a small tank and short range, around 130 miles. For the touring(ish) version, an S1000XR seems like a much better option. As epic as the FZ-10 engine is, it seems like a lot of compromise, for a lot of money. : /

    So if you had to choose between the MT10 Tourer and the Superduke GT to ride from Blighty to Spain, then spank when you got there, which would you choose?
    Also nice new lid Baron.

      My only issue with the 10 is the tank-range. I'd love to be able to get some more time in the saddle before I have to start frantically looking for fuel, but such is the case for such a manic motor and a 'normal' size tank on a touring rig. Sigh...

    • @UnknownProdrive
      @UnknownProdrive 7 лет назад

      Ben WoodHead Same here. I reckon it's too thirsty and perhaps short on range. I'm guessing.
      Would one of you gentleman who've rode it perhaps have the answer?

    • @awrebyawe
      @awrebyawe 7 лет назад

      Don't be fooled, the MT10 tourer is a normal MT10 with the factory touring accessories fitted, very different to the SDGT which has many differences to the normal SD that might as well make it a new model

    The MT10 at 160hp holds the world record 0-60mph for production motorcycles . Ducatis new v4 Streetfighter with full Akra will have 234hp FROM THE FACTORY!!!???? There's a very very big change comming to the naked bike scene! There will be the cheap base nakeds like the gsxs1000, cb1000r z900 and then $10,000+ In the low $20,000 will be the super nakeds of Ducati, Aprilia , BMW and Yamaha has already confirmed they know of Ducatis new standard for supernakeds and ontrack to remain the inly japanese Supernaked to compete with the kings. That is really good to hear and in so excited about what it mean!!! Kawasaki is making a run also for the first time with a Supercharged 1000 from the h2. I personally think they should have just based a new Supernaked off the zx10R line Yamaha did sight he mt10 and they'd be fine , adding. Supercharged will add a lot of weight, and make it a nightmare on trAck with forced induction. But good for them trying! Lolol what will a 234hp Ducati do??? That announcement changed it all! We now know Aprilia will be using their v4 1100 from the 1100 Factory rsv4 and tuning to 217hp with stock exhaust , higher with System, BMW has been holding out in the S1000R release to see what the completion will be,..now that the new trend will be superbike #s no more detuning, the 217hp and more form system will be the base. 217 +hp supernakeds!!!??? The announcement of a professional nakedbike racing league a MotoGP of supernakeds has somethingto SO with this. And done are the days of supernakeds getting passed on the end of the back straight on trackdays!!! They will outz corner out apex , corner exit torque etc allll better than superbikes and now have the. Back straight mph too!!! Think about it the world known king of supernakeds the torque monster Superduke R had 175hp! Add 54hp to that!!!!! And that's the new Streetfighter !! The top 3 euro exotics will have the top of the line Brembo brakes, top electronic Ohlins that u can adjust with a iPad (thanks to Yamaha and the mt10sp and r1M for the research and development with Ohlins) this will be critical to the new supernakeds that will be track Kinks and streetable, u can set a map for suspension, ABs settings, traction control trill setting,s, WHEELie control, out lane limiter,, set maximums easily in all and save them as your track setting, set up a street setting, a router setting. And change wirelessly at home or track with an I-pad or iPhone! That's the new hypernaked and the world of motorcycling will never be the same . Supernakeds are MUcH more comfortable ,more nimble, sorrounding are seen easier, cruiser control, great on dirt roads , and track kings to come soon. All in one bike, no need for a track bike and a torturer and a dauly! My excitement is Yamaha broke the mold of supernakeds with the half priced MT10 ,..they said this is a standard now,..which means the new R1 will be the new base for next gen MT10 thAt will compete with the 234hp Streetfighter . I'm guessing the 209hp they are gettting from the crossplane 4 for next gen R1 will be the base, the torque numbers much higher, Ducati, Aprilia and BMW are all claiming to use the 6 axis IMU In theirs which is so smart, beer got why Yamaha had all the things they need in the MT10 to use the 6 axis imu literally , but didn't ? Well from now, it's a standard . Mr10 with full system GYTR will be 220+ hp, MORE torque than the next gen R1 but from 1/4 the revs, have the exact same electronics packages as the r1M and 6axis IMU , he lighter than the current MT10 sp , same adjustability , I think the will likelly make the Sp electronic Ohlis standard and will be significantly cheaper than the $22,000+ Ducati. My only dear is obviously gone are the days of a cheap Supernaked!!

    So I have the FZ-10 and almost bought a used TFT screen from a parted out SP. Do you think it would be compatible? Other than not having the electronic suspension of course. Great review by the way. I love my FZ-10 now that it has been tuned and I threw on an exhaust from Pipe Werx. Night and day difference....And the available comfort seat is also a must.

Sliders and shorties and it was my favorite bike ever! Buying another one!
