Great intro Chops. Very amusing. You are now clearly the pimp daddy of RUclips bike vloggers. As for the bike, I've always liked the MT10 but struggled with the looks. I agree on the styling. I had the gray 2017 and loved the looks and color combo. I'm wondering if the front brake change and electronics are worth the money difference over a low mileage used FZ/MT. I sold mine for a GSX-S1000GT.
@@Stclairm1 the front brake on the old model is helped with a change of pads. I don't personally use the limited electronics on the old model leaving it in minimum traction control and you don't need to turn anything off for wheelies! I don't see enough to warrant a change.
I just might have to test ride a new one and part in my 2016. Front brake just Brembo sintered pads makes a huge difference. Owning the MT-10SP since february, I agree with pretty much everything you've said here! Brakes: Yeah, they are a bit dissapointing. With the SP version I have the braided lines, but 12th of May I'm going to do my first trackday, and I'll probably swap out the brakepads there. That should improve the feel a bit. Before I did my test on the machine, I thought it would probably be some meh gimmick, but I really really enjoy it. With all the sound regulations lately, bikes will end up quieter and quieter, and this is actually a great solution to still have a love engine sound for yourself, without waking up the entire neighbourhood. This needs to be implemented on way more bikes. But damn is it fun, and comfortable fun. I would suggest the comfort seat for longer distances, the regular seat is rather thin. A happy Sunday morning - thanks Chopsy 👍 I think I could live with that bike, the styling is a bit 'individual'.....but very nice. So kind of you to give those poor, young ladies somewhere to practice 😂
Awesome video Chops , lots of damp patches. Hopefully none on the bike . Going to have to take one for a spin to see what this cross plane crank is about. I love straight fours maybe this is the next generation ?. Look forward to the comparison video. Thanks again for the ride .
I remember your original review. You made some comments about school children noticing you (and the bike), then quickly realized what you said. Good times 😳. Nice review, may get another one someday. Cheers. 👍🤪🇨🇦
I just love your channel, the beginning I thought was cracking ,Mavis is definitely not going to be happy. Cracking review review by the way look forward to the comparison test.👍
Picked mine up on Saturday and this video was the sole reason i even considered the MT10, as I was overlooking it prior! Go collect your commision chopsy!
Love the mt10. Had one briefly and spent most of the time trying to behave myself.. 😅 Great bike that left me with a big grin most of the time . The mode thing is a bit silly and quite annoying.
Looks like an amazing bit of kit ! I get the 'wooden feel' about the brakes. I bought Goodridge hoses on my previous purchases. I've owned a Fazer 600 and more recently 1000 (also had an R1) I think Yamaha get it spot on with the 4 cylinder machines they produce. Excellent work, good review ! I look forward to the group review ! I'm a Suzuki man at heart (First bike AP50) but I've had brilliant bikes from Honda and Yamaha ! Never got into Kawasaki though. Thanks for sharing 👍
You have clearly missed out on some all time classic bikes then by not owning some Kwaks. I have owned many bikes [since the 70's] from all the Jap manufactures and I can tell you Kawasaki have produced some of the very best. Z1/900, GPZ's, GPZ900R, ZXR 750's etc.
I'm picking the standard model up in the coming weeks and sticking an additional 6 litre tank on the back in a top box. That way, im comfortable for touring and but have maximum satisfaction!

Completely agree with you, tested this last year. I also don't trust myself with this for everyday riding. It wants to go fast this thing :)
Had a 2018 MT10 for a season. Definitely a hooligan bike. My biggest grip was how light the front end felt when smashing it. I found myself having to lean over the tank to calm things down. Otherwise the front tire was barely on the road. 😂. Fun bike for sure. Sold it because pillion comfort was miserable and it just wasn't for me. But man that crossplane sound is truly intoxicating. Now riding a zx14r and love it.
@@ElijahThweatt can't tell you how much I love my zx14r. It's just an incredible hyper bike. Definitely a straight line monster that still handles well in the corners. The power is relentless. It's almost too easy to go well north of mid triple digits without much effort. But it's definitely not a wheelie monster like the MT was. The MT was much lighter and shorter hence the hooligan effect. Lol. The h2 is a crazy machine also. But heavy like a zx14r.
@@Beammeupscotty-w5x ZX14R is still attractive to me but I am a young hooligan. Can it be made faster than H2? If they drop a 3rd gen I'll def pick one up
Nice vid as usual! My ,2€ coming from a 2020 Tuono Factory: + Better ergonomics (190Cm tall, 95-ish kg's) + easier to go on a leisurely pace, i felt the Tuono was a bit too race focused + I got the faster Icon Blue one ;) + Dealer network is heads and shoulders better than the Aprilia - Rearview mirrors a bit shite, i have no need to admire my shoulders and elbows - Brakes, as you noted as well. They do stop the bike but feel more "remote" than the Ape - Mine's a little bouncy in the rear, it almost feels like the wheel gets airborne over ripples and sharp jolts. Can probably/hopefully be dialed out. - Seat gets uncomfortable faster than the Tuono's did. Expensive solution - comfort seat. All in all i like it very much! Cheers.
@@melburnmt7320 The Tuono feels surprisingly high considering how compact it is. Both it and the MT feel ok for me. The MT has the more relaxed ergos of the two IMO. I got neck and knee pain on the Ape, but "only" a bit sore bum on the Yam.
Really happy to see the channel growing so fast, and looking forward to lots of yamaha reviews from you in future, I thought you just didnt like them! Can you replace the stripper with bonzi buddy for one video ? that would be hilarious
Of course the cheeky thing to do is to set the speed limiter, then adjust your wheelie control to chil at about 12 o'clock, and just roll through town like that ;)
The brakes aren't too bad on my 23 SP. It has the braided lines but I think i'll still go for different pads when the time comes. Oh and the suspension is next level with the Ohlins. I've never ridden a bike that lets you take the piss so much! Great work with vids mate and the garage looks brilliant. 👍️
Yes, go for a brake pad upgrade and your are ready for the mountain passes and the occasional track day😃🏁🏁 Did this to my 2020 MT09 SP (incl. the upgrade to braided brake lines) - works like a treat.
Another cracking review. Always love your enthusiasm and hooligan attitude! Not ridden for a while after a big knee op but hopefully picking up my new bike soon. Your vids always cheer me up! Thanks Chopsy.
Love your garage Chops....plenty of hot rides there to keep you busy......if you know what I mean....😉😉 Lol. Great review.....thats my Sunday morning viewing sorted 👍
Rode the SP version today, our head always argues a lot with all these variants, why not just make one bike the best you can. I would say the M1000R Competition we rode just prior(once again you have an S1000R, S1000R Sport, M1000R, M1000R Comp!) we rode before is a hard contender, the MT-10SP is a lovely bike I think it comes down to preference now, if you like Yamaha you'll by the MT10, if you like Aprilia you'll get a Tuono, if you like BMW you'll get an S1000(or M1000, recommended!) you're not going to go badly wrong with any of them, but if you want the Streetfighter or M1000 you're gonna be getting your wallet out that's for sure, even more so if you starting playing with the spec sheet we specced up a £40,000+ Streetfighter V4S on it!)
Manufacturers have to buy break pads by the palette to fulfill their work flow. Sometimes that means they can't get the best set. Its is an easy upgrade to change them out at the 1st tire change and can make a big difference. After that braided lines.
Come on Chopsy, a wee dab of clutch in 3rd coming out of those corners and get her up 😉 I had a 2017 MT10 and it’s the best bike I’ve ever owned. Currently on an S1000r and loving it too, we are spoiled for choice
Thanks John, very naughty that. Now that they're putting average speed cameras in around Loomies and the Meon valley area, it s a right bore for a bike like the MT10.
If you want to transform the front brakes get a set of the new Brembo LA compound pads. i put them on my MT-09 and I am blown away. Ther is nothing that compares. They transform the Yammi brake to a one finger brake.
Hello, long time no see ;). I test rode a 2022 SDR today and was thinking I should give the MT10 a go so this came out at just the right time. Hope you're well!
I was never a fan before Tim, but since having this it's really grown on me! It's also brilliant for taller and larger riders. It's like a Tuono which fits me! 😍
Good honest review, as ever. Would love to see a review of the SP version? I keep looking for a an honest group test with the either the SP against Tuono factory OR standard MT10 against basic Tuono. Most people use these bikes on the road and the feedback you give is invaluable. One second a lap faster around Cadwell (just buy a track bike!) ….so what in the real world?
Very good review, defo my next bike later this year. May I ask you seem to be appearing a type of body harness with pouches could you provide me with the details please.
I ride both a mt10 and a Streetfighter v4 sp on a regular basis. Both with full exhaust and tunes. The Empty10 also has Ohlins ttx suspension. They are not remotely comparible in any way ! The v4 is made for cornering and straight line acceleration! Not the best at 25mph behind traffic. The Empty10 is great for slower commutes and spirited riding. But its limited in cornering due to the low peg position and brakes. It also lacks big time in acceleration in comparison. Conclusion? If you want to go really fast safely V4sp ! If you ride more commuting and like to do wheelies on a short wheelbase bike, then Empty 10. But there is actually zero that is comparable on the two machines.
@@LambChopRides Thanks for the reply mate. Most comfortable and best priced, can't go wrong with that. Keep making great content, we really appreciate your videos here in Sweden 😉
Does sound lovely... not quite the sound of the Tuono to me (which is amazing), but does sound comparable to the Streetfighter v4 imo. Combine that with the what... $10,000 discount over the v4s and the MT10 is a very nice package. Can definitely fix the brake issues for a lot less than $10k.
Brilliant stuff future of bike stuff as now magazine's seems to be slowly disappearing,,😢😢😢but your channel is great for loads of reasons,, glad Yamaha are on board 🛹☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️ from northern Ireland
Love the bit of banta, think you could of used better music with the ladies preforming,,😊 Great review, That's my gripe, too many manufacturers are cutting back on costs and keep chucking out boring two cylinder engines 😢,
Brilliant review as usual chopsy, I ride a '16 myself. Can't see myself getting another bike unless the insurance decides to be as cheap for a R1. Also what is the chest harness with the pockets you have on? It's not listed in the description. Cheers
Great video, thanks! What you said around the 13.00 mark is exactly why I didn't buy one, I do love my wheelies and the MT10 is one of the best bikes I have ridden for them. Within 5 miles of my test ride I was hoiking up fat 100mph+ wheelies, top fun but not if you get caught! The really amazing thing about modern bikes like the MT10 is how user friendly they are, they are basically as bonkers as you want them to be. Were any of the girls Mrs Chops, or possible future Mrs? 😀
I'm looking at getting a 2017/18/19 tuono factory OR 2020 v4 streetfighter base model, is this worth considering? (all can be had for similar money in Oz - $25K)
Would love to see a review on the Yamaha R7 chops, had mine just over a year now and love it, my first (big) bike if you will. Mines not exactly standard anymore, but would like to see what you think of it!
Great sounding bike but for me thats it, i got rid of my 2020 sp before the warranty ran out because of various issues and i recon i was unlucky as most owners have not had many issues .But it looks similar and just a few tarted up thing they should have just fitted the full blown r1 engine same as Bmw have done with their new model . My current bike has 50hp more and it far superior on fuel consumption not that the thirsty mt10 bothered me too much as i knew before purchasing it that it would drink plenty of fuel .
A bit sweaty after that intro, as well as feeling a bit guilty for not having to pay a cover charge. At least where I live you have to pay for that kind of entertainment. Okay okay back to the bike review😂👏 That’s a Yamaha I’d like to give a go at. Although out of all the MT’s the MT09 I think is the one for me. Might change my mind if I ever get a chance with that MT10 though, and from all accounts/reviews the SP is much much better. Chops you’ve ridden both the mt10 and mt09, two questions… Which one do you like better, and which one do you think is the better bike, overall? Great content👏

The flashing light is a settable shift light. If it's coming on at 6k then it's still set in running in mode. Mine's set at 10k now. It's easy to change it in the menus.
A happy Sunday morning - thanks Chopsy 👍 I think I could live with that bike, the styling is a bit 'individual'.....but very nice. So kind of you to give those poor, young ladies somewhere to practice 😂
I'm all heart 😁👍
Awesome video Chops , lots of damp patches. Hopefully none on the bike . Going to have to take one for a spin to see what this cross plane crank is about. I love straight fours maybe this is the next generation ?. Look forward to the comparison video. Thanks again for the ride .
Thanks Alan 👍
The crossplane Yamaha has been around for almost 15 years
@@luisdetomaso867 agreed but I still haven’t tried one ☝️, hope that’s OK with you.
Great review!! You are going to get me to buy the MT10 as my next bike
Hey chopsy could you review the mt-09 sp?
Seeing as you’re now able to ride yamahas again
I remember your original review. You made some comments about school children noticing you (and the bike), then quickly realized what you said. Good times 😳. Nice review, may get another one someday. Cheers. 👍🤪🇨🇦
Haha wow must be something about this bike! 🤣👍
I just love your channel, the beginning I thought was cracking ,Mavis is definitely not going to be happy. Cracking review review by the way look forward to the comparison test.👍
Hehe thanks matey 😁👍
Picked mine up on Saturday and this video was the sole reason i even considered the MT10, as I was overlooking it prior! Go collect your commision chopsy!
Haha good to hear! 👍
Love the mt10. Had one briefly and spent most of the time trying to behave myself.. 😅 Great bike that left me with a big grin most of the time . The mode thing is a bit silly and quite annoying.
Superb review Chopsy.
Great to see you giving it some beans and getting the benefit of that engine. Think the laughs say it all.👍👍😁
Looks like an amazing bit of kit !
My first bike was a 1978 Suzuki AP50 red/maroon color when I was 16 back in 1978.
Have you still got the Fazer 1000?
@@inked-96 sold it back to the guy I bought it off ! He reluctantly sold it a few months back
@@bunnydaduk what you riding now?
I did the same. Was an 2018 MT10 owner and own ZZR1400 now. Different bikes but happy with ZZR now.
@@krzysiek.80 Definitely a different bike but in a good way. Hyper Sport. Just great all around with big power.
I started on a 21 MT09. Was considering a ZX14R as a second bike, then I switched it to ZH2, now I'm set on a 23 MT10. ZH2 will be next.
If they drop a 3rd gen I'll def pick one up
One of the best openings of a vid I’ve ever seen 😂
Haha thanks 😁👍
Brilliant review as always keep them coming
With a different front, I would have seriously considered this bike as my next acquisition
Brilliant reviews Chopsie, your channel keeps getting better and I love your reviews. Keep up the great work, it's really appreciated 👍
Thanks Michael 👍
Love the intro absolute quality the mt10 isn't bad either 😂😂
Nice vid as usual! My ,2€ coming from a 2020 Tuono Factory:
+ Better ergonomics (190Cm tall, 95-ish kg's)
+ easier to go on a leisurely pace, i felt the Tuono was a bit too race focused
+ I got the faster Icon Blue one ;)
+ Dealer network is heads and shoulders better than the Aprilia
- Rearview mirrors a bit shite, i have no need to admire my shoulders and elbows
- Brakes, as you noted as well. They do stop the bike but feel more "remote" than the Ape
- Mine's a little bouncy in the rear, it almost feels like the wheel gets airborne over ripples and sharp jolts. Can probably/hopefully be dialed out.
- Seat gets uncomfortable faster than the Tuono's did. Expensive solution - comfort seat.
All in all i like it very much!
Cheers.
I'm seriously considering the Tuono over the MT. I'm 170cm (short af I know) but haven't sat on either in years - which is better for us shorter guys?
@@melburnmt7320 The Tuono feels surprisingly high considering how compact it is. Both it and the MT feel ok for me. The MT has the more relaxed ergos of the two IMO. I got neck and knee pain on the Ape, but "only" a bit sore bum on the Yam.
Hey, what about the engine between both ? What is the one you prefer?
Great opening Benny Hills Angels are Back 😁 How far can you go on a Full Tank on the MT10 ? Some say 90 miles
Others 140
Really happy to see the channel growing so fast, and looking forward to lots of yamaha reviews from you in future, I thought you just didnt like them! Can you replace the stripper with bonzi buddy for one video ? that would be hilarious
Of course the cheeky thing to do is to set the speed limiter, then adjust your wheelie control to chil at about 12 o'clock, and just roll through town like that ;)
That light might be the "break in warning" light. Kawasakis have an obnoxious one that constantly flashes when you go outside the "break in range"
I have this exact bike and to be honest the brakes aren't as bad as what people say.great stuff chopsy.
Actually when compared to the GSXS & CB1000R the felt great! 👍
Same for me, I have a 22, it’s a great piece of kit.
@@LambChopRides I installed SBS841RST pads on the front of my GSXS1000GT and it made a huge improvement.
They're not bad, just very numb coming from the Tuono
LOL He rides too many bikes.
Yes, go for a brake pad upgrade and your are ready for the mountain passes and the occasional track day😃🏁🏁
Did this to my 2020 MT09 SP (incl. the upgrade to braided brake lines) - works like a treat.
@@SirMountainpass yeah I'll get some brembo sintered pads on her. I'm lucky that on the new 10sp's it already comes with braided hoses this year 😁
Another cracking review. Always love your enthusiasm and hooligan attitude! Not ridden for a while after a big knee op but hopefully picking up my new bike soon. Your vids always cheer me up! Thanks Chopsy.
Nice collection of beautiful machines you have, near to that pole
Brilliant start John...😊
Nice bike my perfect bike is the m1000R but I can't afford 24G I'm going for the Suzuki GT I think.
Love your garage Chops....plenty of hot rides there to keep you busy......if you know what I mean....😉😉 Lol.
Great review.....thats my Sunday morning viewing sorted 👍
Haha thanks Dean 😊
MT 10 always very good machine , you got me for a second with the first girl.
Mrs Chops looking good on that pole Chops! 😂😂
Yamaha cross plane engine sounds glorious especially with a full exhaust system
Thanks John, very naughty that. Now that they're putting average speed cameras in around Loomies and the Meon valley area, it s a right bore for a bike like the MT10.
If you want to transform the front brakes get a set of the new Brembo LA compound pads. i put them on my MT-09 and I am blown away. Ther is nothing that compares. They transform the Yammi brake to a one finger brake.
Hello, long time no see ;). I test rode a 2022 SDR today and was thinking I should give the MT10 a go so this came out at just the right time. Hope you're well!
If they sorted out that font end look, I’d consider one , but until then I’m keeping my gen3 sdr 😁 does sound good though 👍🏼
A bit rich, hearing a Origami insect KTM owner talking about front end looks.. 🙂
@@Larry_Mott That's true but the Yamaha looks way worse
@@theseph28 As Jeff Bridges would say - "Well, that's like your opinion dude" 🙂
Good first look video Lamb Chop
Thank you.
Great vid as usual! When you going to get out on the new street rs waiting for that video 👀
Yes not until end of May though 👍
Love your Vids LCR! I would love to test ride this bike but our local dealer is not keen to it.
How do i get a test ride on both?. Back to the bike. Nice but crap looking mirrors
Lovely video mate - I need to get one of these in to test. I even like the looks... argh
Review of the SP coming soon & a comparison with the Superduke Evo 👍
Very good review, defo my next bike later this year.
May I ask you seem to be appearing a type of body harness with pouches could you provide me with the details please.
My two favourite things in this video, bikes and women 👍
Very good! I need to see a test on the r-1 please
Very unique sound to this machine. Not my cup of tea, but clearly a very capable piece of kit.....
Mate, if you like this version, put a link pipe on and have the ecu flashed, it only gets better.
That was brilliant👍🏻
Got the MT-10 on my next bike list together with the ZH2 and the new gen S1000R.
Being 6'3 it will all come down to ergonomics and comfort.
For a bigger bloke it's fantastic!! The most comfortable of the big nakeds for me 👍
@@LambChopRides Thanks for the reply mate. Most comfortable and best priced, can't go wrong with that.
Keep making great content, we really appreciate your videos here in Sweden 😉
Not on your list (which is a good one) but I have the 2022 GSXS1000 I am 6’4 which is very comfortable
@@Kassas768 good call, I will add the test ride list 😅
@@precludeneco plenty of options. Nice problem to have! Have fun
The crossplane doesn't sound anything like a Ducati 🤡
@@luisdetomaso867 Have you heard the new v4? IT doesn't sound anything like a Ducati either.
One of these unrestricted and molded and a Link pipe and slip on 😍😍 ooaaft.
What's the comparison between this and the gen3 S1000R?.
OMG… chops is just having a bit of fun…nobody was hurt but it seems a few were offended…chil out ffs…made most of us including me laugh 🎉😂😂
Thanks Mark 👍
Speed limiter is ideal for roadworks to stop you from creeping over speed and copping an average speed ticket.
About time I've been waiting months chopsy

Thanks Cecil 👍
Love the bit of banta, think you could of used better music with the ladies preforming,,😊
Great review,
That's my gripe, too many manufacturers are cutting back on costs and keep chucking out boring two cylinder engines 😢,
Brilliant review as usual chopsy, I ride a '16 myself. Can't see myself getting another bike unless the insurance decides to be as cheap for a R1. Also what is the chest harness with the pockets you have on? It's not listed in the description. Cheers
Looking promising for an SP next year! 👍
This is as close as we get to Richard Hammond reviewing modern bikes, just without the crashing.
Can you option one of these without the Transformers sticker on the tank?
I'm looking at getting a 2017/18/19 tuono factory OR 2020 v4 streetfighter base model, is this worth considering? (all can be had for similar money in Oz - $25K)
Hey Chops, what are your thoughts about Mt10sp vs Speed triple rs (for the road - don’t do many track days). Both about the same price in Aust.
I would probably take the MT10 Ben out of the two 👍
Streetfighter v4 or the MT10 if you’d to choose?
Would love to see a review on the Yamaha R7 chops, had mine just over a year now and love it, my first (big) bike if you will. Mines not exactly standard anymore, but would like to see what you think of it!
I've actually got a comparison between the original R7 and the new one coming 😎😎
Oooo exciting looking forward too it. Bet there’s a few differences, one being the price difference😬
Haha thanks Dukie, unfortunately not ridden the MT09 since the first version so long ago. Will get on the lastest version soon hopefully
