@@aries4378 Thanks, its a spectacular bike. A sad ending to the ownership experience tho. We were out riding when we hit some roadworks, laying down new tarmac. They sent us after the "follow me" car over some oil based SH^T and it ruined the bike. Gummed up radiator, radiator fan and the bike looked like shit after, it was no longer my lovely new bike so i swapped it for a KTM 1290 SuperDuke EvoR. And that`s like the MT-10 turned up to 11. Not nearly as reliable tho...

That would sell better, no doubt. They do an XSR with the smaller variants so why no 1000 version. Very odd decision from Yamaha and poor marketing I think.

Its a package I grew into rather then love from the get go, it earned my love and respect rather then have it by looks from the get go. Its agressive, powerfull, with those headlights it looks like a angry rhino charging at you. I point my hips and and trough the corner before I ever knew there was one.

Great review, guys. You're quite right in putting the MT-10 in a class above the other two (still worthy) bikes. It definitely is in contention with the Tuono V4, SDR, S1K etc. I would argue that as a road bike it is competitive with the Streetfighter V4 and M1000R too, as their performance advantage is up at high RPM and perhaps best suited to track, if you can hang on! I look forward to your upcoming comparison.

    • @sleeper.simulant7327
      @sleeper.simulant7327 Год назад +5

I think putting it up with the Tuono V4, Streetfighter V4, S1K, or Speed Triple RS is a bit of a stretch. Those bikes are all a bit lighter and have substantially more power.
With the crossplane engine it’s going to be a bit more torque rich in the mid range then the GSXS or CB… but real world those 2 are a closer contender to the MT10 then the MT10 is to those listed hypernakeds…

I have the 2019 CB1000R, 30000kms and no issues. IMO the best looking naked out there (especially parked side by side with my Streetfighter 1098S!), but a Supernaked it's definitely not... Think of it as a GT - easy to ride around town but can do the sporty weekend blast. Properly setting up the suspension & switching to Bridgestone S22s made a noticeable difference for me. If I could only have 1 bike to do it all, the MT10 would be the logical choice, looks be damned.

My son in law had the SP version and I rode it a few times
The Suzuki is much more forgiving.
I do agree that the brakes are totally useless

I second that the mt10 is a step above.
I think it’s in the same hypernaked class as the ktm superduke , touno v4 .
The Honda and Suzuki are no doubt great bikes but the mt10 has what I call the “riot factor”.
More so than any superbike , it unleashes
You can also setup a mt10 up a bit like the touno , puigs windshield looks factory, add a belly pan and you’ve got that “topless only” style naked bike. A gentleman’s bike.

I've had mine for nearly 5 years now, with the comfort seat(essential in my view) and the small fly screen and I am utterly besotted by it. I've had a good demo run on the new one and didn't like it as much as my previous model. For me, they've altered the sound detrimentally, giving it too much induction noise. These engines are absolute gems, the handling is excellent and as you say, bullet proof reliability.

A great comparison of these three bikes, very well presented covering all angles apart from perhaps one, tyres. I noticed the MT10 and the GSX appeared to be on the same or very similar tyres, going by profile and tread pattern. The Honda was on Michelin's, not the road 6's but very similar, with a taller profile therefor steeper turn in. It's another factor to consider when judging cornering confidence 🤔

An Evotech tail tidy and a smaller but not too pisstaking 7x8 numberplate completely transformed the new model MT10 for me looking at it from the rear, looks much better now that EU approved gopping great monstrosity of a tailpiece is in the bin. Buying the Tech Black model makes the whole bike look more co ordinated. Ordered mine May 2022, delivered November 2022. I couldn't get on with any of the other colour choices. Lobbed about 2k on extras including the Akrapovic can in Black (Totally makes the bike look more aggressive and higher spec) and the comfort seat. The stitching on the newest variant of the comfort seat (comfort seat from the older model fits also) has contrasting stitching which makes the bike look more plush and a little bit more special with it's thankfully subtle MT10 logo embossing. Black Gilles levers and Gilles Chain adjusters, GB Racing engine covers, Evotech bobbins everywhere you can fit a set, the Oberon bar end mirrors that used to be on the MT09 I part exchanged for this bike. Yamaha rubber grip pads right around the tank facing me. Daytona heated grips, all black rad guard and oil cooler guards and an equally ugly but considerably less weedy sounding Denali soundbomb horn. Mines definitely giving off a strong Streetfighter vibe now. Things that had to go on DAY ONE included the ugly sticker on the tank reminding me it doesn't run on diesel. Thanks for the top tip Yamaha, thankfully it was pretty easy to peel off without a trace. Also the gash looking huge Raleigh Chopper style orange reflectors on the calipers had to go straight in the bin. Added all the crash protection and tail tidy out in the shed but was keen to crack out some miles to get the service out of the way when the workshop was quieter rather than in Springtime. I still have yet to ride mine this year but got first service out of the way in late December at least so I'm ready to get out on it without nannying it too much. It's truly looking more and more like Batman's Bike every day. When that warranty is up I'll have the decat and the flash to get it sounding as offensive as it looks.

Cracking review :-) I'm in the market right now for a naked litre bike also considering som of the sport tourers like the GSXS 1000 GT. The GT has the same issue as the GSXS with the brakes, is this a simple pad replacement or are we talking a whole new brake cylinder to rectify this? The MT-10 is quite a bit more expensive in Denmark well I mean all the bikes are expensive in Denmark but MT-10 is 8K pounds more expensive than the GSXS 1000 when converting danish currency so quite a hefty price jump.

Buy a used mt10, decat and "flash" the ecu and you have yourself about the best "grin" factor money can buy. I got my '18 with 1kmi on it for $9800. $600 for a yosh 3/4 system and $300 for the flash and it's absolutely THE most fun bike I've owned out of approx 30 bikes I've owned. It's oure jailbait though!😂

Have been looking forward to this one, great review chaps. I was getting back into riding around when the CB1000r came out, nearly bought one as its a fantastic looking stead in my opinion, best of the three. I thought the MT10 front end was just too plain ugly at the time, however I think now I just wouldnt care and would buy the MT10 just for giggles and sheer fun alone.
(Ended up buying the Ducati Supersport but still thinking about the MT10 ...... )

Only nit pick,,engine was a bit buzzy.not a deal breaker,by any means..all these bikes are awsome..I would probably go Honda.all winners.

The MT-10 has always had an appetite for fuel. Yamaha has supposedly improved that, but I doubt it's anywhere as efficient as the GSX. With the extra 1/2 gallon the Suzuki has on the MT-10, clearly the Suzuki is the choice for covering miles.
But does a person really use the sort of power these make? If you're after high end electronics, the Duke 890R or MT-09SP/XSR900, and Ducati Monster cover that taste, but offer power you can actually use most of on a daily. The cost between the MT-10 and GSX-S1000 is $2800 in the USA for 2024.
