I think you forgot the biggest issue with VP. Total lack of VR gaming either stand alone or through PCVR. This limits the headset a lot. Why would I pay 7 times more for something so limited in its functions compared to the competition.
noo its not a gaming thing. noo its spatial computing you cant say its vr noooo. spatial videos are future (literally houndred years old stereoscopic image tech with a new video codec) *crying intensifies of a fanboy while trying to not strangle himself with the battery puck cord
Apple has made it very clear that the VP is an AR headset, which in itself is a whole thing. It's clear that Apple's goals and target audience is different, there's a reason they haven't marketed this as a VR headset that does AR, like the Quest, a reason it doesn't come with controllers. What they have made here is an attempt at a new type of computing, for whom, I don't know. What I do know is that Apple doesn't expect this to sell well, it's part of the reason for that insane price tag, alongside the insane R&D. I don't suspect a Vision Pro or any future "Vision" product will be playing Half Life Alyx, to put it as bluntly as possible. If you play games get the £450 Quest 3, it's a great headset, the AR is cool, but you won't use it much. Maybe it's just me, but I really don't see AR taking off until it is ENTIRELY seamless, a pair of glasses. A non-noticeable part of eyewear. For right now we are at this weird in-between phase, that I think VR is going to win outright as it simply provides more immersive unique use cases. AR is just able to integrate stuff that is already possible into an overlay of the real world.

Just like Apple copied the other headsets. That's all tech for you. The competition is already 1/7th of the price and does everything AVP can do in a slightly lower fidelity, plus do more as well like play webxr videos and games since they have optional controllers.
The UI is limited because only eyes 👀 are used as the cursor/pointer (excluding Macbook as the controller when connected). Apple Vision Pro needs an option to use controllers to control its 'Spatial Computing'.
@@aboucard93 no it is not. If that was the case then they wouldn’t have showcased it being used with a Mac for video editing. I’ve just had my Mac in my Quest in AR with 3 Mac screens up at once. I don’t think the AVP can do that yet, only multiple apps at once just now. I’ve no doubt more screens on a single Mac will happen. The fact is the Quest 3 can do 70% of what the AVP can do for a fraction of the price.
@@aboucard93 It's a gaming machine that can do everything the AVP can, just in lower fidelity and higher FOV/refresh rate. Meanwhile AVP can't do everything the Quest 3, for 7x the price.
Regardless of the pricing, today you'll have more fun with the Meta Quest than the AVP if your main objective is to play VR games. For everything else, saying that the 2 things are kind of "comparable" is like saying that a Ford Mustang is comparable to a Ferrari as it can take you from point A to point B just like a Ferrari takes you from point A to point B. Nothing wrong in thinking that the Ferrari is not worth the price difference, but even remotely implying that the two things are comparable is just plain dumb.
The field of view is just like your real eyes, you don’t stare straight ahead to see something on the side, you look at it. The ability to look at what’s over there with no delay, no lag is what makes the VP much better. Latency also has something to do with why people experience motion sickness and nausea while wearing the Quest and other headsets, but not the VP. Apple could have pulled a Tesla and priced the VP at $500 and it would have been GAME OVER. The other manufacturers had YEARS to address the problems stopping mass consumption-offering more than games, low latency and clearer screens and the Quest is the best they could do.
Not sure what you're suggesting... the FOV of the vision pro is quite a bit smaller than the Q3 - it's one of the bigger shortcomings of the vision pro IMO. It also has a slower refresh so again... you seem to be suggesting the vision pro has an advantage in latency when it's actually at a disadvantage. It DOES have an advantage in resolution and because of its smaller fov it has quite a bit higher pixel density but IMO that's a poor tradeoff (would much rather have the FOV). The VP does an OLED display so will have a better looking display (much better black levels). The lack of content and design tradeoffs would have hurt the VP at any price point so I don't think it would "game over" the Quest 3 at all... also the lock-in to the Apple ecosystem (and poor support for PC's) will dramatically limit its market reach vs units like the Q3 that fully support PC's. I'm still thinking about getting one since I DO have Mac's... but it definitely won't replace my Q3.
