Pentatonix is probably best known for their Christmas albums, where they do fresh, creative arrangements of Christmas carols, pop holiday songs, and songs about winter and being with friends and family, including some originals. They have put out a holiday EP or album every year since 2012 -- 6 studio albums, 3 compilations and 1 EP. Their other recordings include covers of pop hits from various decades and styles including Motown, rock, country, K- and J-pop, EDM, pop divas, original songs, etc. -- 5 albums (two all- or mostly-originals), 2 compilation, 5 EPs. Total -- 11 studio albums, 5 compilations, 6 EPs. They also have 34 singles and 58 music videos.
This was the last track from the genius level EP PTX Volume II. It also had another EDM original called Love Again (you won't believe there are no instruments), an upgrade of Can't Hold Us and an original 5 part harmony called Run to You (it is an original, not the Whitney Houston or Bryan Adams song). They were so good early on it was unreal. There concerts are amazing. It tends to be quieter than most concerts because you want to hear the voices. It is somewhere between seeing a musical and seeing a live show by anyone else.
On the video for their cover of Come Along, the pinned comment is Cosmo Sheldrake thanking them for covering his song. And don't forget to try their original songs too! Sing is a good place to start.
Just saw them three days ago and I danced ALL NIGHT!! Not bad for a 68-year-old! I'm like you, I don't see how anyone can sit still to their music. Some do at the concerts, but I just can't! They're incredible, and they do Daft Punk live!
If you want to get a feel for their early music, then you should try "Sing!". It is their original song and was used to open the show on one of their early tours. They would walk in through the audience using FM mikes and plunge straight into a nice, bouncy ice breaker to get the audience started.
If you like the vibe of this one, check out 'Love Again'! It's similar in an EDM feel and it is also an original! I would also recommend Bohemian Rhapsody and Imagine, and if you want to see them live I would echo a few others in saying to check out 'Popspring 2016' it is amazing!
when PTX is overseas in europe & such, concerts tend to be standing more often than not. in the US for whatever reason they always play seated venues, and the audience is mixed between sitting & standing - though PTX personally encourages everyone to stand up & dance! strangely, some folks who stay seated get VERY angry when people participate in that. recently there has even been actual violence towards people who stand !! can you imagine getting assaulted at an a cappella concert? crazy
A lot of people can’t stand for long periods of time which is why they are seated. Concerts aren’t cheap to attend and I for one wouldn’t want to have to look at someone’s rear for two hours. They should sell standing room only tickets at concerts for those who don’t want to sit at all. Give people a choice and appease ALL of the ticket payers.
@@chrispavlich9656 they should, but unfortunately how the tickets are currently sold & how most of the venues are set up, front row costs the most & you genuinely cant see *anything* if you're sitting besides the barricade between the seats and the stage. its very poorly managed but its not the fault of any fans, sitting or standing. but violence and screaming insults and ruining the show for even more people including the band is definitely not the answer
I’m going to see them Sept 16th! I splurged on VIP tickets so I’m right in the front. So excited!! I plan on being up as much as possible! I’d feel weird being that close and just sitting lol
Ooooh... getting in to the sit-down vs standing up thing for ptx concerts.... that's a hot button topic. The band wants people to dance and sing along. It's a straight up pop concert (except for some parts like their 1 mic performance). However.... not everyone in the audience agrees and get very snippy (or abusive honestly) about how these "rude young people" are destroying the experience. Pentatonix audience seem to have a sharp divide since they have an unusual breadth in their demographic. So we have these intensely smart musicians wanting to sit and listen to the mastery of a live vocal performance. And then you have lots of people getting in to the fun. So honestly... I don't have an answer to your question. Christmas tour lean more towards casual viewers, family, older people and sitdown while summer is more concert. However, it's VERY mixed. Like... 3 generations of Church grandma to queer teen all wanting to go to the same concert. The band has heard more than once that Pentatonix is the only thing someone can agree about liking with a relative, haha.
I so enjoy your Pentatonix reactions. They are so versatile and are magnificent in all they do. Whether it's The Prayer, Mary Did You Know, Royals, Mad World, Havana, or Can't Hold Us, they're just amazing!
Well, this Vancouver Island resident has!! I've loved this group for 8 years. Great reaction to this incredible medley. The group was in it's early years so money was tight. They managed to put this together, spending only $400 for supplies, recording in Avi and Kevin's closet and filming and editing in their kitchen. It was sent out for professional editing and mixing, though. Plus...they won their first Grammy for this! I'm recommending an original ( written by Avi, Kevin and Mitch) with similar vibes....Love Again.
Might I suggest their second grammy winner. 'Dance of the sugar plum fairy'. A song without voices, done by a group without instruments. Brian May from Queen heard their cover of Bohemian Rhapsody, and linked it on his social media with one word, 'Enjoy'.
Be sure to check out their version of Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy. Its a song with no words, performed by a group that doesn't use instruments. Amazing.
The three good representations of how good they sound live is, as mentioned below "2016 PopSpring”, “Gold” a Kiara cover, and Hallelujah Live 2016 on A Pentatonix Xmas special. These are some of the other songs you should check out: Bohemian Rhapsody, Imagine, Mary Did You Know, Mad World, etc. and original music: Sing, Cracked, Can’t Sleep Love, etc. Also their Evolution Of Videos such as Evolution Of Music and Evolution Of Michael Jackson. Also another good Superfriut video is Hip Hop goes Broadway. This took a lot of effort on Mitch and Scotts part to not crack up as you can see in the bloopers after.
Their original Love Again next! and Popspring 2016. You might also want to watch them doing this live for a charity private performance (I think)- just the 5 of them in a room being recorded, no mics, no mixing and being epic. You know about the origin of Pentatonix, right? About how they won season 3 of _The Sing-Off_ with a first prize of $200,000 and a recording contract? Well, that recording contract was with Epic Records, a minor subsidiary of Sony, who sponsored _The Sing-Off._ So immediately after winning the contract all the members of Pentatonix moved to California in preparation for recording their music, and a week later Epic reneged on the contract, saying that they didn't know how to market a cappella music. But at this point Pentatonix was totally invested in staying together and making a career for themselves doing what they loved best, with the people they loved best. They weren't about to give up just because some short-sighted recording executives said there was no future in their music. So they came up with Plan B. They pooled their winnings, using the $200,000 as seed money. They lived frugally. The men shared two apartments, to cut down on rent. They arranged music and rehearsed every day. And whenever they had a song ready they'd record it on their iPhones and post it to RUclips. It didn't take long for their fans from _The Sing-Off_ to find their channel and subscribe, and even then pentaholics were enthusiastic, so they spread the word around. And some of them became patrons. And Pentatonix started going viral. And someone at Sony sat up and took notice. "Hey, Pentatonix! Here at Sony we've concluded that Epic made a big mistake when they cancelled your contract. But we have another subsidiary, named Madison Gate. Would you be interested in a contract with them?" Darn right Pentatonix was interested! It wasn't a terribly good contract; Madison Gate specialized in movie soundtracks, so they couldn't provide Pentatonix with a recording studio, for instance. But they could and did get a company named FifGen Films to record videos for Pentatonix, and they published albums, and albums bring in money. It was a start. "Daft Punk Medley" was released on PTX Volume II, their second album, in 2013. And in 2014 it won them their first Grammy. And someone at Sony said, "Wait a minute! We got a Grammy from MADISON GATE?! Madison Gate publishes film soundtracks, not Grammy winners! What's going on here?" Eventually they figured it out, and they heard Scott's acceptance speech from the Grammys, where he said that the budget had been $400, much of which went for makeup and a single ring light, and that the audio had been recorded in a closet. Hmmm. Think what they could have done with a proper recording studio and a decent budget. "Hey, Pentatonix. Congratulations on the Grammy! We've been thinking some more, and we've concluded that you might find a better fit with our flagship company, RCA. What do you think?" Pentatonix has been with RCA ever since.
They typically play sit down venues but people do stand and dance sometimes. There’s a big generational divide there really, because all ages go to see PTX so you have sit down people and stand up people at the same show, which usually causes turmoil lol. Personally I’m a dance in your seat person, because I’m disabled and can’t stand for very long. Check out their 90s Dance Medley cover if you haven’t already, it’s super fun!
Dr. Brian May posted a link on his social media for their Bohemian Rhapsody with the word "enjoy". Cosmo Sheldrake commented favorably on their "Come Along" video. Those are 2 original artists that I know of who have commented. Leonard Cohen is a disputed reactor for Hallelulah.
I was at one of their London concerts earlier this year and the standing room only folks (me included) were jumping and dancing and singing, but the ones sitting above seemed to be singing, but not so much dancing.
There are physical reasons why people can not get up and dance. My mother who grew up dancing to salsa music loves dancing but has vertigo now and any fast movements make her so dizzy her balance is compromised. We both love PTX but will probably never go see them live.
I'll finally throw in a few suggestions for your next PTX masterpiece. Amazing Grace... Can you feel the love tonight or Bohemian Rhapsody. Thanks again for sharing and stay safe.
I'm jealous! I've seen them 4 times (December will make 5), but I wasn't financially able to see them when Avi was still with them. But I have seen Avi twice as a solo artist, so it all works out!

Im sure most of the bands they cover usually see what they’ve done because they need the permissions. I know there have been many who e retweeted their videos with positive comments too. Maybe my fellow Pentaholics can help me with the details on these!
Have any of the people they cover heard their songs? Yes, some. John Lennon was murdered before anyone in Pentatonix was even born, so he never had a chance to view their -cover- upgrade of "Imagine" - it would have made him proud. 😢 Freddie Mercury died of AIDS just 8 months before Mitch was born (there are people who hear PTX's cover of "Bohemian Rhapsody" and speculate that perhaps Mitch was born a month prematurely because he's "obviously" the reincarnation of Freddie), so he also had no chance to hear what Pentatonix did with his masterpiece. But Brian May, Queen's lead guitarist, posted a link to the official video on all his social media accounts and commented "Enjoy." Singers who are the subject of a Pentatonix "Evolution of..." video have also commented favorably. If I understand correctly, Daft Punk was a French duo and is no longer together. I THINK they were still performing when Pentatonix released this; if so, someone must have told them when Pentatonix was nominated for a Grammy for this, even more so when Pentatonix won the Grammy. That probably applies even if they'd already split up when this was released. So I would bet that they've seen and heard this cover, but I don't have any information to corroborate that speculation.
Can I make two song reaction recommendations? 1 - Edson Cordeiro & Cassia Eller - A Rainha da Noite / Satisfaction (Incredible Brazilian singers!); 2 - Nightwish - The Phantom of the Opera (Live at the Hartwall Arena in Helsinki); Both you can find here on RUclips!

I left a comment on your first PTX reactions asking that you change your audio settings to stop lowering the video volume whenever you speak or make a sound because it's terribly distracting. I didn't say anything the last time when you did it again...but now on number 3, I just don't like it. I won't be back. Sorry.
Sorry, I couldn't watch this reaction. Every time you spoke , the sound level of the music dropped. It was very annoying so I stopped watching at the 1:30 mark.
I think he has his mic adjusted to do this when he speaks so we can hear what he says. I would prefer he just pause the video as I feel he is missing parts of the reaction by speaking over the video. It is somewhat annoying.

Recently was rewatching their Daft Punk video. Didn't expect reaction by Gaz, what a surprise !
@@piranhapunk The exact reason why I gave up concerts years ago.
More Pentatonix please
Another great reaction! Thank you 🇨🇦
Their original Love Again next! and Popspring 2016. You might also want to watch them doing this live for a charity private performance (I think)- just the 5 of them in a room being recorded, no mics, no mixing and being epic. Here’s the link: ruclips.net/video/tw4YCsHXKgI/видео.htmlsi=qO88cmjOXkUKfQmZ
There have been a few shows where they performed and the original singer/composer was there and I know Paul Simon heard Sound Of Silence as he shared a link to it on his social media with just one word "ENJOY".
The Pentatonix song cover Bohemian Rhapsody - A Queen member has a link to it on their web site. So yes original artists have heard their songs
Your question about others hearing the covers of their songs.. They Did Jolene with Dolly. They sang Too Much Heaven Live on Stage at a Show for Barry Gibb. Brain May reacted to them doing Bohemian Rapsody . Just to name a few
Several peeps have heard their covers, I know Arianna Grande when she heard their Evolution of arianna grande she cried with realization she had so many hits. You gotta try their "Love Again" original EDM song.
What's going on here?"
Eventually they figured it out, and they heard Scott's acceptance speech from the Grammys, where he said that the budget had been $400, much of which went for makeup and a single ring light, and that the audio had been recorded in a closet.
Dr. Brian May of Queen posted their version of Bohemian Rhapsody saying "enjoy!" So yep, I think he likes it. 😊
@@chrispavlich9656 that's totally fair
I have heard this live, just as awesome. ❤
I'll finally throw in a few suggestions for your next PTX masterpiece. Amazing Grace... Can you feel the love tonight or Bohemian Rhapsody. Thanks again for sharing and stay safe.
Brian May of Queen put PTX’s Bohemian Rhapsody on his channel with one word: Enjoy!
Since I already know someone's recommended Love Again, I'll recommend their live version of Aha! from Singapore, The Star Vista
Welcome to PTX brother. Ha loved the 2 reactions I've seen you do so far. Check out their Macklemore & Lewis rap cover. It's a real bop.
I saw them live before Avi left. I want to see them again for sure. It was an amazing experience.
I'm jealous! I've seen them 4 times (December will make 5), but I wasn't financially able to see them when Avi was still with them. But I have seen Avi twice as a solo artist, so it all works out!
They do evolution videos. Evolution of Rhianna is great. Their evolution of Arianna Grande. She texted her thanks and love so yes they are appreciated. They are singers , singers They are so talented. Check out their collab with Dolly Parton. Singing Jolene. That was the second Grammy.
I suggest watching their
Official video of John Lennon’s Imagine. Bring tissues. ❤❤❤
Babytonix... They were fearless!
PTX 🔥🤘
They made this video in Avi and Kevin's apartment in closets. The video cost them $400.00 to make and they won their first Grammy for it.
Must check out their " Creep"
Great reaction. You might like PopSpring 2016. 3 original songs and the Michael Jackson medly. In Japan and Mitch and Kirstie are dress in anime outfits.
Also originals Sing and Love Again. For different try Can’t Hold Us, Perfume Medly (much of it in Japanese) Papaoutai ( in French) and Gangnam Style with some Korean in there.
Recommend their cover of I Just Called To Say I Love You.
Freddie Mercury died of AIDS just 8 months before Mitch was born (there are people who hear PTX's cover of "Bohemian Rhapsody" and speculate that perhaps Mitch was born a month prematurely because he's "obviously" the reincarnation of Freddie), so he also had no chance to hear what Pentatonix did with his masterpiece. But Brian May, Queen's lead guitarist, posted a link to the official video on all his social media accounts and commented "Enjoy."
Singers who are the subject of a Pentatonix "Evolution of..." video have also commented favorably.
1 - Edson Cordeiro & Cassia Eller - A Rainha da Noite / Satisfaction (Incredible Brazilian singers!);
2 - Nightwish - The Phantom of the Opera (Live at the Hartwall Arena in Helsinki);
Both you can find here on RUclips!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
try the Pentatonix & Lindsey stirling cross over is a good one to...
If you like Eminem, I suggest a cover of Lose Yourself by Kasey Chambers Live at the Civic Theatre, Newcastle Au. You'll love it.
Next you should react to Popspring 2016 live performance... ruclips.net/video/7GMHqYxpnzk/видео.html Always better live! These are some of their original songs. Enjoy!
I can't see a reaction to Band-Maid's 'Shambles' on your channel? Don't slack off dude 😉
@@chrispavlich9656 , I agree
