Great reaction. They can perform any genre of music really. Sing is an original. Love again is an original. Say Something and Can’t Hold Us are covers.

Avi's low "Oh yeah" and Kirsty's cheaky half smile are my favorites in this song

This group's versatility in the songs they can sing is phenomenal! So glad you decided to react to this and I can tell you were impressed by it. They recorded this on a minimal budget of $400 for supplies and a bit more for the final editing and mixing, but it won them their first Grammy for the arrangement. It was recorded in Avi and Kevin's apartment closet and filmed and main editing done in their kitchen, but sent out for the final touches.

The Five Faces of New Pentaholics
    1. The most common is the Mitch Slapped. Commonly found when Mitch is heard for the first time in Hallelujah, The Prayer, Can You Feel the Love Tonight, Creep and doing Aha! at the Star Vista.
    2. The Wide Eyed Look of Disbelief. Normally found when you hear their Wall of Sound. Found when listening to Mary Did You Know, Imagine, Amazing Grace, The Prayer and Mad World.
    3. The I Didn’t Want It to End face. Most commonly found after listening to the 90s Dance Medley. It can also be found after listening to all their medleys and evolutions.
    4. The Teary Eyed Look. This is commonly found when listening to an emotional song of theirs or just the sheer beauty of their work. Commonly found when listening to Mary Did You Know, Hallelujah, Amazing Grace, Imagine, The Prayer, Prayers for This World and most especially Thank You.
    5. The What Did I Just Hear Face. Happens when Pentatonix starts strong, or when you hear a really special note or Kevin sound. Is usually accompanied by rewinding the video or song to make sure your ears really heard what they heard. Those times are too many to list, but the most common rewind at the start moment is the beginning of Sound of Silence.

Avi was in Pentatonix for just about six years; he's in most of their most popular songs and all of their Grammy winners, of which this is the first.
I'm not sure how much of their early history we've told you, so I'll repeat the most relevant portions here. Pentatonix formed in 2011, in order to compete on _The Sing-Off,_ an a cappella competition show that ran on NBC from 2009 through 2012. First prize was $200,000 and a recording contract with Epic Records, a minor subsidiary of Sony, the show's sponsor. Pentatonix appeared throughout the third season, eventually winning. They all moved to southern California and got apartments in the same building, preparing to start their new career recording music, and a week later Epic reneged on the contract, saying that they didn't know how to market a cappella music.
But Pentatonix was the dream of all the members; they wanted to remain together and they wanted a career making music together. And they weren't about to give up their dream just because some short-sighted executives thought they couldn't make it. So Pentatonix came up with Plan B - RUclips. They pooled their winnings, using the $200,000 as seed money, to keep them going until they were actually able to sell their music. They lived frugally. The four men shared two apartments, to save money. They bought nothing that wasn't necessary. And they worked every day, arranging music and rehearsing. And whenever they had a song ready they'd record it on one of their iPhones and post it to RUclips.
It wasn't long before their fans from _The Sing-Off_ found their channel, and subscribed, and liked, and shared, and a few joined their patreon and a little bit of money began coming in. And Pentatonix began going viral on RUclips. And Sony noticed. Hmmm. Maybe these kids can make it after all. "Hey, Pentatonix. We think Epic made a bad decision when they dropped your contract. We have another subsidiary named Madison Gate; would you be interested in signing a contract with them?"
They were DEFINITELY interested. It wasn't a very good contract; Madison Gate specialized in publishing movie soundtracks so they couldn't supply Pentatonix with a studio, for instance, but the band had become adept at finding places with good acoustics where they could record audio, so they could get along without a studio. The most important things Madison Gate did were to set them up with an excellent company named FifGen that started doing their videography, and they began publishing albums. It wasn't ideal, but it was a step in the right direction. And to this day, Pentatonix also publishes their miusic to RUclips; they know to whom they owe their success.
So, "Daft Punk Medley" was published on Pentatonix's second album, "PTX Volume II." It was uploaded to RUclips on November 5, 2013. And in 2014 it won them their first Grammy, in the brand new category "Best Arrangement Instrumental Or A Cappella" (previously named "Best Arrangement Instrumental"; the Academy had to make a new category just so they could NOMINATE Pentatonix for a Grammy).
The budget for "Daft Punk" was around $400, most of which went for makeup and the ring light. The audio was recorded in one of their closets, which had good acoustics. The venue where they'd planned to film the video fell through at the last moment and someone from FifGen suggested that they buy a set of black bed sheets and make a sort of photo booth in the kitchen.
And someone at Sony said, "Wait a minute! We just got a Grammy from a group that's signed with Madison Gate?! Since when is Madison Gate producing Grammy winners?" And once they figured that out, and heard about the low budget, and the closet, and the kitchen, they came to Pentatonix again. "Um, we've been thinking things over, and we think you might be a better fit with RCA, our flagship record label. What do you think?" Pentatonix has been with RCA ever since.

They do an original song called Love Again that is more ravy that this. The costumes in Love Again are even crazier.
This song and Love Again came from their second EP called PTX Volume II. That EP was just genius level. They were very good early.
They can sing anything, any style any genre. Because they can sing anything they do not belong to any genre which probably contributes to one of Earth's greatest mysteries, Pentatonix gets no airplay except at Christmas.

There are 7 songs in this medley of songs from the French EDM duo Daft Punk: Technologic, One More Time, Get Lucky, Digital Love, Harder-Better-Faster-Stronger, Television Rules the Nation, Around the World.
The year that Pentatonix won a Grammy for this song, the Recording Academy changed the name of the category they won from "Best Arrangement, Instrumental" to "Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella".

Avi has a solo career now and it is unbelievable. He wasnt just another pretty bass! Amazing range and sings beautifully in all. Please give him the chance to impress you. Has a huge following. Change on the Rise was first and impressive. Im Only Getting Started b/w video and the beautiful All is Well 7 layer sessions with. Avi, his guitar and beautiful acoustics of an old church in the Netherlands
