So...Drac won't let Mavis kiss her own husband at the wedding, and yet they have a child soon after. Looks like Drac failed to stop an activity between them far more scandalous than a simple kiss!
I liked the first one alot, I felt bad for Dracula in the first movie and how he lost his wife due to the humans killing her. the movie was... okay, but i didn't like how dracula got a love interest. THE ENTIRE PLOT OF THE FIRST MOVIE WAS ABOUT LOSING HIS LOVE!!! and i quote the first movie "no two souls were ever more meant for each other." so giving him a love interest kinda ruined it for me...
@USCAN14 Thing is, that's shit, and one of the most selfish acts. I imagine the harem in heaven for the people who actually go through that. And I get the movie trying to acknowledge this people, but I think we have enough examples in media that can be used instead of ruining a very romantic thing.
@@DarkMagicianMana Vampires don't die from natural causes though. What if Dracula lives for another 20,000 years? Is he supposed to simply remain alone forever because his wife may be waiting for him in heaven?
Do they waste the perfectly reasonable premise that a cruise is basically a hotel's sole competition? It seems drac should hate the cruise director from a professional enmity point of view.
No no no. That's the Hoilday Inn just down the street… (Yes, I am referencing the movie, because yes, I am one of the fools that loved it… except for that ending. Should have used better counter music before the winning one. Heck, they should have made it more like Scott Pilgram…… which means that was another wasted potential for a good meta joke.)
Although you break down the relationship between Drac and Mavis very well, when you bring up the point that Mavis should have been the one to convince her dad to date again I actually disagree with you on that idea. One very common trope in animation is other characters deciding for someone else that they need to date again. Characters themselves should be the ones who decide when they are ready to meet people, others shouldn't forcefully make that decision for them. It doesn't matter if "oh, they don't realize how lonely they are", I'm sick of the stereotype that they need a relationship to be happy and others have to force them into it. The fact that Drac willing wants to date without others giving him that "push" actually is refreshing compared to the latter. Take Despicable Me 2 for example. Gru was happy with his life just fine but everyone else was trying to tell him to get a date and his own daughters suddenly decided they wanted a mom, even though he himself made it very clear he wasn't intetested. Other people decided for him what he wanted, and I hate that. It's my own bias, sure, but it creates an unhealthy stereotype that other people need to decide your own happiness.
I agree, and I mean Draculas whole character was build upon the fact that his wife was killed by humans and that he loves her so much so the third movie kind of lets this aspect of his character go but doesn't replace it with anything as interesting as that, so he really just loses personality in my opinion. And the message of the movie that you definitely need a significant other to be happy just isn't anything I would support.
Leopardmask Pokémon XY and Z I find it funny since she’s a toddler that doesn’t understand human relationships yet, but I get others can get a kind of second hand embarrassment.
I really liked Dracula in Hotel Transylvania. When we first see him, humans had killed his wife because she was a vampire. So it’s understandable that he wouldn’t want Mavis near them. While the town he made for Mavis had traumatized her, he made sure that she was in no real danger (he even watched to make sure nothing happened to her). And I appreciate Dracula learning that after all those years, humans had become more tolerant to monsters. Maybe I’m alone on this, but I found Dracula’s character change compelling in the first movie. Too bad the second movie had to mess that all up.
Yeah I agree. While Drac's methods were really shitty, he didn't do it out of maliciousness, spite and jealousy. He just wanted to keep his daughter safe because he didn't want to lose another family member. And eventually he does learn that she's an adult and he has to let go. The second film completely flips that and makes him the worst parental figure (Who isn't supposed to be an unlikable villain) I've seen in a while.
Stephen Brown they also show In the first movie how much his death of his wife negatively effected him to the point he became sprartcliy angry when she was mention
Anthony In the Brazilian Portuguese dub, when Frankenstein says that love is in the air (or something of the sort…), Drac replies with: "This ain't the Titanic cruise, Frank!"
I got nothin against the Hotel Transylvania series, I like em for what they are. I just wish Sony would let Genndy do something else. The man is one of the greatest animation minds of this generation. Give him a decent budget and a lot of creative freedom, and he can make you a masterpiece.
Mathmachine Genndy is actually working on an orignal project at Sony right now. While he won't give out the specifics, he did say that he wanted to do something like Samurai Jack for the big screen.
Steve ross it's not going to be Can you Imagine? So if somehow he can make an action family film without Sony constant passing notes that would be great. (And by family film I mean what Disney does, movies that appeal to everyone).
I also want to point out how inconsistent the movie is. In the first one when Johnny asks Drac about Garlic, he says: "I can't have it, my throat will swell." Implying that it will swell shut and suffocate however in the guacamole scene, his throat does not swell shut, he just gets gassy. Same applies to Mavis who willingly eats it, despite knowing it could be harmful. I get that they were trying to be funny but again it's inconsistent with the first movie.
I think the most enraging part of the third film is that it completely messes up the franchise's law on "zinging". It had been mentioned in the first film that it only happens once in your life when you meet your eternal soulmate. So, why does Dracula zing in the third film? Is it because he never actually zang for Mavis's mother or what? It completely strips the first film's meaning. It would've made more sense if they dropped it; had the captain constantly flirt with Dracula and thus kidnap him to build conflict between her and Mavis who may suspect her misdemeanours or have Mavis setting him up with the captain based on the thought of "well I know your zing died but you shouldn't become a recluse because if it".
I totally agree , I mean it would even have been better if he just liked her and fell in love with her without zinging , because I think it destroys the meaning and power of this zing-aspect. Also the 1st movie completely relied on that zinging only happens once rule , if it weren't for that mavis wouldn't even be with jonathan, so I'm really dissappointed that they changed that rule and made the love in the movies seem so fake/unimportant now.
If my husband died, I would cope and keep going my life single, there are mediums that show self-worth is important. But I'll never cheat with another man just because I'm lonely. I'll wait until I pass away to be reunited with my beloved. So yeah, that's why I don't like this movie at all.
So we're just completely not going to bring up the fact that Dracula freaking abandoned all his life motives to build the hotel that runs the series to chase after a woman not only belonging to the species that murdered his original VAMPIRE wife but also just so happens to be the great granddaughter of the WORST ARCHNEMISIS EVER while all the while defying the point line of the series, "You Only Zing Once ~ Cherish It", and marrying someone who not a week ago wanted him very dead AND MAVIS IS OKAY WITH THIS
Yeah...This movie is pretty frustrating like I get it. You can be chained to your family and a sense of "duty" but if I was in Drac's cape, I certainly wouldn't ben marrying someone who JUST tried to murder me because I'm not human and they felt "honour-bound" to do so is just...so wrong.
@@BrightWulph well you can fall in love after someone passes. it was years since martha left and naturally dracula feels lonely. Besides he didn't know Erica was attempting to kill him. Love can blind people.
It's actually made a big deal (at least at first) that Drac had another "zing", because he'd previously thought that it only happens once. This is more or less framed as him trying to move on after Martha's death so many years ago
I like the ship between drac and what was her name again? Erica? I really do, BUT why would you marry someone who tried to kill you? And yes i know she changed and the ship is cute, but still...
over-protective and patronizing dad is one of my least favorite movie tropes. i wish it wasn't so prevalent, because it pops up in way too many narratives about daughters and dads.
@@nifralo2752 Sorry this is freaking two years late, but we get a lot of the “Dad being complete jerks and abusers to their sons, and can’t just be happy for them when they find something that could shape them in the future” trope. Now, for a real life story, I know that’s understandable, but I really wish we would get more of father and son bonding, the last time I think we saw it in a Disney film was Bambi 2, I may be completely wrong though.
Here's something from an actual Romanian: Drac's accent is not accurate. Well, partially. And btw the word drac is in itself a swear word in Romanian, it means devil.
I love a good, even-handed review/critique of a movie frokm someone who is open about agenda or bias but then takes up each element with a fair and reasonable eye to give a nuanced look at something that gives any due it has earned and who respects their audience. It's why you're a reviewer I respect. Also, more Dennis and Winnie. My heart remains whole.
Gabriel LaVedier I think that's the only reason I watched the sequels. DennisxWinnie. The first movie definitely has my spot for the best film in the trilogy.
Imo the conceptual lesson for drac is interesting in each movie 1-Learning humans have changed since his wife’s passing 2-learning to deal with his half human grandson. 3-learning to move on from his passed wife and help mavis understand. But the actual stories and scenarios are dumb
Honestly I’m up for any animated movie that has someone from Brooklyn 99 in it. So hyped to see Stephanie Beatriz play the villain in the Lego movie sequel.
I get what you're saying about Dracula but it isn't like he's just over protective. His wife was murdered and he was left to raise his infant daughter. It's underplayed that being a vampire means he counts time differently so the two plus centuries he spent in isolation isn't well technically 200 years as it would be for a human. But it is in real terms almost twenty years so yeah.
I agree with that if it's for the first movie. I found Drac's overprotectiveness and irrational decisions a lot more justified than most characters with this trope. But in the second movie he came off a bit too strong for me...
The villains annoyed the hell out of me. They go from wanting to kill all monsters, to being all happy and friendly and getting ready for another wedding. What kind of Friendship is Magic BS is that.
HT ONE - Dracula is an over-protective father. But to be fair, the assassination of his beloved wife played a huge role in his attitude towards humans. HT TWO - Dracula becomes a grandfather, and like most grandparents he has expectations. In this case, he wants his grandson to be a vampire when he grows up. He does, after all, come from a long line of vampires. It's like a family business sort of thing. And did I forget to mention that even human grandparents tend to spoil their grandchildren? HT THREE - Haven't see it yet, but it appears Dracula (while he does love/miss his dead wife) is lonely and wants to find someone to help fill the void, but at the same time is probably worried that Mavis would not approve of someone replacing her mother. Too bad the new love of his life wants to put an end to his life, but perhaps that's part of her charm. On the whole, not too bad a trilogy.
Yet you missed the fact that the 3rd movie literally murdered the 1st movie's intentions. The real reason Mavis even got married to Johnny is because Drac was motivated by his wife's words "For a zing only comes once in your life." and "Your zing will come my love, cherish it." And yet here we are with a peanut head and a vampire together. Literally fucked up since we really didn't know what happened to his rather than she was kille when there may be a possibility she isn't.
I don't know why, while I admit these films have problems, and yeah, Drac's not a great character or a model father figure. But I'd rather sit through these 3 films on a marathon than ANY of the Despicable Me films HT just appeals to my sense of humour more, and the animation is just more visually interesting than any of Illumination's work, which looks like it's trying to be a hybrid of slower paced Disney and these films and it just lacks overall identity (And the designs are just awful, I'm sorry) That and I don't find any of Illumination's characters interesting outside of being "lol funny" for a brief moment but even then that can only go so far, and not to mention, the first trailer for DM3 was probably better than the actual movie, simply because Trey Parker and not any of the "IHAVEATWINBROTHERTHATNEVERCAMEUPBEFORETHISMOVIE" plot. If someone was to make me choose between this or Despicable Me 3... GIMMIE DRAC ANY DAY
RiderNexus I feel the same, but I feel like only the FIRST Despicable Me movie is more tolerable than these three combined by a small margin just because it focused more on the main characters instead of the damn minions
Brittany Disney Fan Davis I personally enjoy both the Hotel Transylvania and Despicable Me franchises. I also agree with you that Animat bashes HT mercilessly, from what I heard he was even called out for it, and then just called those people idiots for enjoying crappy movies.
I have no f***ing idea why so many brainless morons love the Despicable Me movies, or any of Illumination’s films. There’s literally nothing of substance or passion in them!
BigAlsAngryBirdVids Yeeah. Most likely. I don’t think a lot of people look for much when they go watch a movie nowdays. And if there’s a lack of demand for better films, the studios aren’t going to make better films.
I believe it's more Sony's fault than Genndy's fault for these movies not being so good. Because i love Genndy Tartakovsky and i believe he can make a great movie.
im honestly kinda bugged they broke the zing rule set in the first movie. but other than that i still dont have alot of hope in this movie as it feels really promotional more than caring abt the franchise. also ht2 was just a rehash plot of 1 cause mavis does the same shit as her dad to dennis even though youd think she had learned not to do that.
I personally follow the theory that Zings aren't a once in your life thing, but a once in a lifetime thing. Since Drac is immortal, how many lifetimes has he lived? It's possible the previous lifetime has now passed and a new Zing is possible for Drac.
That's awesome. I consider myself brand loyal to Sony because of the Playstation but they haven't been making it easy when it comes to movies.I hope Sony can turn things around.
Pelcogo well seeing how this focuses on miles morales, marvel actually have their name plastered onto a sony pictures animation movie the directors who worked on the lego movie are working on this and another postive i could think of Spider-Man into the spiderverse actually being a great movie theres a pretty big possibility that this film might succeed
Honestly I was really hoping Hotel Transylvania 3 would’ve been a full on flashback movie, with more backstory to Dracula and his dad when they were much younger. As well as seeing a lot more of Martha. Then at the end of the movie, have it go back to the present where we see Dracula reading all these memories as a story to Dennis.
I honestly loved the first HT movie, I could understand Drac's character and his position as the overprotective parent (probably helped that I was 21 when the film came out and my parents went through something similar to Drac, so could understand where he was comming from), but then he backtracked in the second film. haven't seen the new one yet (not that I mind spoilers, I like to know what I'm getting into)
One of my biggest problems with Hotel Transylvania 2 (Aside from the stuff Drac did and how he suffered no consequences for it, I 100% agree with Cell on that shit) is that Mavis seem less important to the movie that she should have been considering the story revolves around her child. And I feel like she won't be as important in this one either.
Yes, Drac is overprotective. But after having witnessed his wife murdered and having the responsibility of raising their only child alone? He had to be this way. He was paranoid, yes. But he only ever wanted her safe. And yes, he got carried away. I’m not defending his behavior in any way. He was wrong. But after seeing how much his behavior hurt his daughter, he actually went and did everything so that she could be happy. And yes he almost made the same mistake with his grandson. But in both cases in the end he put his love for them first, not his ego. I’m not saying all this to excuse his behaviour, because I’ve known first hand what it is like to have a parent like this. I’ve been suffocated by all the control and lies that I was told. But when it came to conflict I understood that it was the only way she could always have me by her side. I understood that she too battled her inner demons. She was lonely, and she was insecure about things, and very, very hurt. And I couldn’t be mad at her for that, because I knew that under all that outer shell of control, there was love. And once we started working through our issues together, the shell started to crack. So there, it’s not all black and white. I’m sorry, it’s just that Drac had always been one of my favorite characters exactly because of it, and I couldn’t just stay silent about that.
Sorry old comment, but hard agree. While Drac's actions aren't good/healthy, they are, however, understandable. The fact he realised he was wrong in the end just shows how much he actually changed over the course of the movie, it's unrealistic that he'd do a complete 180 personality-wise. Him still being a little overprotective (even for comedy sakes) is still somewhat understandable.
My biggest problem with the movie came when the trailers showed Dracula "zinging" with Ericka. The first movie establishes that a "zing" only happens once...and the third movie goes against its own rule.
For whatever reason Dracula was always my favorite charecter. Everything you said is right but for some reason it doesn't bother me that much, at least in the first movie. I don't know, I just find him funny due his expressions and yes even Sandler' s performance. As for this one, better than 2, about as good as one. I do hope they stop here though.
Personally, I don't think it bothered me because Drac being a shotgun parent isn't treated as a given. The movie takes the time to explain why he's like this, instead of just chalking it up to "Dads will always being condescending, overprotective dickwads to their daughters". Being traumatized by the loss of a loved one and subsequently being afraid of losing your child is a pretty darn relatable feeling, even if you haven't experienced it yourself. There's no excuse for the second movie, though. They took it too far.
I agree. I really dislike the backtracking Drac did in the second movie, it was like he forgot everything he had learned over the course of the first movie. I guess they just played it up for "comedy".
Me I think with the way it ended there will be a 4th one,but I'm worried it worried it would be similar to the 2nd that would piss me off.Instead if they did just get married, and have a honeymoon at the hotel or something and Erika is curious about Draculas Wife that passed ,so they make a 4th/Prequel in one film,so we can finally see more of Martha and Drac along with what they did before they met,how they zinged, died, when Martha made the book for Mavis, and Hotel Transylvania being built, and when Dracula first met each friend from the (Drac Pack. )😍😍😍Otherwise make it a movie where Erika wants to be a vampire!!😍😍😍
megabonez. child of mega mushroom and mrlazybonez THANK YOU. I find it sad that even a fanservice anime i really dislike (Rosario Vampire) remembers this trope more than HT
On the first count (pun not intended, but accepted), I'm pretty sure that the lore on that front is that vampires find water to be generally impassible, not lethal. If that weren't the case, I don't see how Dracula could have made the trip to America by floating in his coffin. On the second, a pool is pretty much the definition of standing water, which to my knowledge is not bound by those rules. I think they scuba dive at some point in the movie, and that is definitely wrong; did you link to the wrong timestamp?
Not everyone wants to use every bit of tropes that apply to mythical characters in mythical characters of their own. What I mean is, I could have vampires in a work of mine, and have them have reflections and be able to enter houses uninvited. You don't have to have it follow the trope exactly.
I was actually watching Skyscrapper on Friday when like 50 black kids came out the theatre at once when i came to get my tickets for the show. Presumably they came from a showing Hotel Transylvania. Nothing it of note. It was just surreal.
Solo the Dodongo That was think it was. My point was it was just very unusual to see so many people come out of a movie theatre at 2 o'clock on a friday afternoon.
Idk about Dracula's character. He's flawed, just like a good character is, but he makes his mistakes out of love for his daughter. That's the complete opposite of selfishness.
Well,I genuinely love Hotel Transylvania series(maybe cuz I'm romanian lol),and you have some points,I agree. But I really think Drac is relatable and understandable.I mean, his wife was killed by humans so of course he wants to protect his daughter, not only cuz he loves her,but cuz he also promised his wife. It's easy to say that he traumatised Mavis, but like I said,he is too blinded to notice that. And also,in the second movie, while he admits he kinda"likes"humans now,he wants his nephew to be a vampire(I wanted too). Not because he hates humans, but because HE IS a vampire,so that would be"his pride and joy".And he didn't want Mavis to leave not only because he wants them close, but like Dennis said"he will be all alone",and Dennis didn't even want to leave. And yeah,he was selfish, but it's not like he wanted to hurt the boy or anything. He did those things because he didn't know any better(he even says in the movie that he tries to make Dennis a vampire the way he became a vampire).
Breezeshadow true they did similar to the Ice Age franchise the first two were good, the third one was decent but the next two sequels Continental Drift and Collision Course pretty much jumped the shark and destroyed the franchise as a whole.
Wait.. Both have an "and" in them... coincendce? is every franshise with "And" doomed? If so, imagine what would be if "Ice Age" was called "Ice and Age" Just a random thought.
Dracula has apparently lived long enough to be one of the survivors on the Titanic. Then proceeds to have his PTSD join in, and well... cause him to panic.
Honestly, is there really any point seeing this one? I mean the first 2 movies are really predictable and it's trying too hard to appeal to modern audiences instead of being original and good. And I wish genndy would try something else already.
i went in this one w/o watching the past two and im not mad about it. the exaggerated movements sounded nice in theory but it felt obnoxious to me, but it was not that bad. going in w/o knowing how drac was in the first two movies actually made him seem kinda nice as a person... it lacked depth for me still and the main conflict and resolution seemed waaaay too easy. but hey. not bad. the goth daughter's husband actually sounded mature and aware at times, even though most of the time he was played as their kid's older brother with the same mental age (and yeah he looked that part too) wished he act more his age more... the gags were funny and the overplayed ones werent annoying me that much. overal its 6/10 from me. no masterpiece, but it went down real easy
like, if i have kids i could put this on the tv, kick back and relax as they get distracted by the movie without being agitated too much by how bad it is you know?
Is it just me or does the Hotel Transylvania series seem like a trilogy or celebration plots? I mean think about it, the 1st was the reopening of the hotel, 2nd was Denis' birthday and 3rd was a cruise vacation
I don't like how they do van helsing on the third one In the old time he actually kick Dracula's ass He's actually also a werewolf From a vampire hunting badass To a Dr doofenshmirtz looking ass From Phineas and Ferb
If you want an Over-Protective Dad trope, see Oscar Proud from "The Proud Family". At least Dracula didn't outright cancel Mavis's birthday for kissing a guy.
Although I do agree that Drac's actions were horrible, I found Drac to be tolerable and maybe even likable in the first movie, and that's mostly thanks to his backstory, which does provide quite a bit of justification, but again, not complete justification, but Drac is just a selfish, careless piece of garbage in the second movie who doesn't learn a thing. I say that because the conflict of Drac trying to deny that Dennis is a human and trying to make him a vampire doesn't come from malicious prejudice, it comes from Drac wanting Mavis to stay, so Drac giving his bigoted dad a talking to to accept Dennis for who he is just comes right the fuck outta nowhere.
I enjoyed the first one, it was a solid animated film. The 2nd one was decent, but they ruined it by making Denise a vampire, which hurt the full message and the plot. The 3rd film was hit and miss, with having a few scenes that cracked me up (the werewolves were the strongest part of the film for sure), but I think it would of been stronger if VanHelsing was the cause for the death of Dracula's wife. If they did this, it could of thrown a much stronger form of conflict into the film, where it would have to lead into the concept of forgiveness.
Early this year. Seriously, google that movie and the best review for it came from the Irish Times and it had the title; _"Monster Family: A thrown-together animation. I give up"_

Just the mention of "Ouran High School Host Club" made my day! Prefect way to kick off the 21st century was the kind of nonstop humor previously seen in "Cat Girl Nuku Nuku" and "Dragon Half."
Coincidentally, the majority of this video was basically my thoughts on the third movie. I also thought that ruining the whole logic/rule of 'zinging', with Drac's love interest kinda ruined the movie a bit. Also, yes, the movie basically was a reverse of the first one (Dracula falling in love with a human instead of Mavis, and her being the overprotective one). I'm sure I've had several other issues with this film, but the main ones (besides the love interest), is the fact that Johnny is frustratingly dense and a bit clueless (the 'spark' that Mavis somehow saw in him was completely lost), and how freaking cheesy it is. It's even more cheesy than it's first two films, and it was cheesy to the point that it was a bit cringy and it made things awkward.
So...Drac won't let Mavis kiss her own husband at the wedding, and yet they have a child soon after. Looks like Drac failed to stop an activity between them far more scandalous than a simple kiss!

Good point :)
I agree with this a lot
I agree, and I mean Draculas whole character was build upon the fact that his wife was killed by humans and that he loves her so much so the third movie kind of lets this aspect of his character go but doesn't replace it with anything as interesting as that, so he really just loses personality in my opinion. And the message of the movie that you definitely need a significant other to be happy just isn't anything I would support.
I thought the moral was more that you have to be better than the haters, but that's just me.
Leopardmask
Pokémon XY and Z
I find it funny since she’s a toddler that doesn’t understand human relationships yet, but I get others can get a kind of second hand embarrassment.
Ehm I think his wife wass a vampire, so humans killed her out of racial hatred and fear. Also I agree with your opinion on drak.
Blackknight Withheart Ok yeah that’s correct. I forgot that she was a vampire for some reason.
Blame Adam Sandler and Robert Smigel gor that one. Their the ones who wrote the script for the 2nd one.
Stephen Brown they also show In the first movie how much his death of his wife negatively effected him to the point he became sprartcliy angry when she was mention
Does no one notice that the cruise ship LITERALLY looks like the Titanic ?
Anthony In the Brazilian Portuguese dub, when Frankenstein says that love is in the air (or something of the sort…), Drac replies with:
"This ain't the Titanic cruise, Frank!"
As soon as I saw it I thought of the Titanic
It nearly got destroyed by the Kraken if I remember correctly.
Anthony I noticed that from the start
Probably on purpose
I got nothin against the Hotel Transylvania series, I like em for what they are. I just wish Sony would let Genndy do something else. The man is one of the greatest animation minds of this generation. Give him a decent budget and a lot of creative freedom, and he can make you a masterpiece.
Mathmachine Genndy is actually working on an orignal project at Sony right now. While he won't give out the specifics, he did say that he wanted to do something like Samurai Jack for the big screen.
Still hoping for that Popeye movie.
Masterpieces don't make *ALL* the money. They can make plenty of money but not enough to satisfy corporate greed.
Just... have someone else handle the ending.
Steve ross it's not going to be Can you Imagine? So if somehow he can make an action family film without Sony constant passing notes that would be great. (And by family film I mean what Disney does, movies that appeal to everyone).
I also want to point out how inconsistent the movie is. In the first one when Johnny asks Drac about Garlic, he says:
"I can't have it, my throat will swell." Implying that it will swell shut and suffocate however in the guacamole scene, his throat does not swell shut, he just gets gassy. Same applies to Mavis who willingly eats it, despite knowing it could be harmful. I get that they were trying to be funny but again it's inconsistent with the first movie.
CraftyMaelyss YES, THANK YOU! That really annoyed me too. I hated that.
Indeed! I didn't even find this mistake at first.
Did you just used the past tense of zing as zang?
TheMcpeMick yes I did
If my husband died, I would cope and keep going my life single, there are mediums that show self-worth is important.
But I'll never cheat with another man just because I'm lonely. I'll wait until I pass away to be reunited with my beloved. So yeah, that's why I don't like this movie at all.
I would have been okay with it if she was Mavis mom reborn.
So we're just completely not going to bring up the fact that Dracula freaking abandoned all his life motives to build the hotel that runs the series to chase after a woman not only belonging to the species that murdered his original VAMPIRE wife but also just so happens to be the great granddaughter of the WORST ARCHNEMISIS EVER while all the while defying the point line of the series, "You Only Zing Once ~ Cherish It", and marrying someone who not a week ago wanted him very dead
AND MAVIS IS OKAY WITH THIS
Yeah...This movie is pretty frustrating like I get it. You can be chained to your family and a sense of "duty" but if I was in Drac's cape, I certainly wouldn't ben marrying someone who JUST tried to murder me because I'm not human and they felt "honour-bound" to do so is just...so wrong.

Dracula having another zing makes no sense. I thought they said it only happens once in your life.
Sharp Design that is what was said in the first movie.
Yep. That pissed me off when I watched the movie.
It's actually made a big deal (at least at first) that Drac had another "zing", because he'd previously thought that it only happens once. This is more or less framed as him trying to move on after Martha's death so many years ago

over-protective and patronizing dad is one of my least favorite movie tropes. i wish it wasn't so prevalent, because it pops up in way too many narratives about daughters and dads.
Right there's no way every dad in a Show/Movie is that protective of there daughter especially if there a adult/Teenager
You never see it with Dads ends Sons
I'm not surprised about "drac" meaning devil. Vampires were originally viewed as demon-like entities, and Dracula was a gothic horror novel.

Honestly, they could've gone SOMEWHERE with the second movie, but they didn't.
Agreed
Imo the conceptual lesson for drac is interesting in each movie
1-Learning humans have changed since his wife’s passing
2-learning to deal with his half human grandson.
3-learning to move on from his passed wife and help mavis understand.
But the actual stories and scenarios are dumb
THANK YOU! I totally agree! I loved the first one and it was beautiful, but I hate this last movie..
Honestly I’m up for any animated movie that has someone from Brooklyn 99 in it. So hyped to see Stephanie Beatriz play the villain in the Lego movie sequel.
yes!!! would love to see chelsea doing an animated film

Hotel Transylvania copy Madagascar
I don't know why, while I admit these films have problems, and yeah, Drac's not a great character or a model father figure.
But I'd rather sit through these 3 films on a marathon than ANY of the Despicable Me films
HT just appeals to my sense of humour more, and the animation is just more visually interesting than any of Illumination's work, which looks like it's trying to be a hybrid of slower paced Disney and these films and it just lacks overall identity (And the designs are just awful, I'm sorry)
That and I don't find any of Illumination's characters interesting outside of being "lol funny" for a brief moment but even then that can only go so far, and not to mention, the first trailer for DM3 was probably better than the actual movie, simply because Trey Parker and not any of the "IHAVEATWINBROTHERTHATNEVERCAMEUPBEFORETHISMOVIE" plot.

Still better than the absolutely boring animated TV series. I'll take goofy over boring any day.
im honestly kinda bugged they broke the zing rule set in the first movie. but other than that i still dont have alot of hope in this movie as it feels really promotional more than caring abt the franchise.

I personally follow the theory that Zings aren't a once in your life thing, but a once in a lifetime thing. Since Drac is immortal, how many lifetimes has he lived? It's possible the previous lifetime has now passed and a new Zing is possible for Drac.

How so?
Kudos for perhaps the worlds first appropriate AND non-ironic use of Rick Astley
I think with Drac it depends on how much the let Sandler be Sandler or tell him to stick to the script.

Kristie Kat HT is for kids. Imagine Dracula and his daughter immediately dying from the water in the ships pool, kids would be scarred.

Idk about Dracula's character. He's flawed, just like a good character is, but he makes his mistakes out of love for his daughter. That's the complete opposite of selfishness.
I agree on the Drac opinion. I would love to watch these movies, but Dracula makes it so hard to watch them.

I agree, not to discredit the 3D animation because it is absolutely stunning, I think it would have been nice to see it in a 2D/hand-drawn style.
i went in this one w/o watching the past two and im not mad about it. the exaggerated movements sounded nice in theory but it felt obnoxious to me, but it was not that bad. going in w/o knowing how drac was in the first two movies actually made him seem kinda nice as a person... it lacked depth for me still and the main conflict and resolution seemed waaaay too easy. but hey. not bad. the goth daughter's husband actually sounded mature and aware at times, even though most of the time he was played as their kid's older brother with the same mental age (and yeah he looked that part too) wished he act more his age more... the gags were funny and the overplayed ones werent annoying me that much. overal its 6/10 from me. no masterpiece, but it went down real easy
like, if i have kids i could put this on the tv, kick back and relax as they get distracted by the movie without being agitated too much by how bad it is you know?

My favorite YT reviewer. Sharp and sensitive commentaries, as always
I actually loved this movie, and I will see it again
@@PussInBootsTheLastWishFan2003 I am from mexico, the tickets here cost like 3 dollars
If I had to describe him
Bla bla blah
2:56 I have never laughed so hard in my life
Whatever happened to the "You only zing ONCE in your life"? (Thank you Artisticstuff).
*Zing...... 😂
I haven't seen this movie yet, but I'm betting it's better than the Monster Family movie that was released early this year.
Zion Kraze Monster Family sounded awful
Zion Kraze Same...
Zion Kraze wait there was another monster movie?
Early this year. Seriously, google that movie and the best review for it came from the Irish Times and it had the title; _"Monster Family: A thrown-together animation. I give up"_
Can I just mention that in the first movie it said you can only zing once in your life yet...Drac did it twice? Kinda inconsistent
Cell this is the second review I have watched of yours after steven (who sadly I have only seen mostly through youtube snippits. Heck that's how I have seen most of steven. Funny though I enjoy watching you as, despite as silly as this sounds. I am overly happy and naive and love to look at all the good in things. And you seem like the other half that would have made me a "normal" person lollll.
Mixed with the use of having your eyes can you pay your verbal emotion and not having an animated mouth is sooo unused it's great to see!
Hotel 1: Nice story and animation
Hotel 2: Okay story and okay animation
Hotel 3: Bad story and terrible animation.
1 and 2 are really good movies! But 3 is just weird I can’t ship that girl and Drac cause it’s just weird to me.
ngl i love the HT series. every movie has made me smile many, many times watching it. i'm really stupid for being amused by HT 1, 2, & 3. no one asked, but my 3 favorites in this franchise are dennis, the invisible man, and erika. i just like them a lot.
Hotel Transylvania is such a weird movie series. But I still enjoy it because of Tartakovsky himself.
Just my opinion, Dennis and Winnie are probably the cutest darn thing I've seen in a film in over a decade. Single reason I went, cause those two melt my heart every time.
I just found your channel and I'm binging, I love your content so so so much keep up the amazing work! I hope one day I could work with you on a video!
I dunno why but I really like the simplicity in your animated character. It's visually appealing to me :v
You and Robobuddies should collab you each remind me of each other. Lol 😂
I watched Birdboy with a friend at 2 in the morning and that was a real trip. It's a great movie but not at all what we were expecting in terms of how far it was willing to go.

*facepalm* Goddammit, RUclips.
On another note, I honestly don't like these movies. I just never enjoyed them. They never made me laugh and it hurt more than I enjoyed any of them. o~o
Hotel Transylvania 4: Vacation in infinity war starring Thanos
“I liked the singing kraken”
Me: Of course it’s Nick Jonas
Just the mention of "Ouran High School Host Club" made my day! Prefect way to kick off the 21st century was the kind of nonstop humor previously seen in "Cat Girl Nuku Nuku" and "Dragon Half."
I feel like I should mentiom the fact that my uncle and I took my younger sisters and cousin to watch this movie, and he fell asleep. In the theater.
You made my day. Thanks for doing this to make me feel so clean and fresh. Love you’re vids ❤️ keep up the amazing work! 👍
*insert sarcasm* Me oh look another sequel how shocking
