Just bought it, had it for two days now and I can tell you that this guy's reaction to driving it is very legit, once you press on the gas you fall in love. What a machine!

You spend about half the time talking about the interior itself. This is exactly right. The car is experienced from the inside. The drive itself you talk about visibility, steering weight and how it feels to drive. Again, exactly right. Keep up the great reviews.
I really love how passionate he is about vehicles.
It would be great if you could quote a 0-60 time and then put it on a table with other cars you have reviewed with similar times to get a sense of how fast it actually is. You say a lot of cars are "fast" and it's a little hard to tell how fast exactly.
I'm with you on that. A video is not vastly enough to tell exactly how 'fast'

Schluckebierd I think he cares more about the feel rather than the numbers. Some cars feel faster than others when really the numbers are the same or close. Idk might be a good idea but sometimes focusing on the numbers isn't the best idea

Yeah, I used be a BMW guy too til the E90 era ended, when BMW still cared about driver involvement, and less about Marketing cars and designs nobody wants with numb steering.

This is the video that made me buy my CLA45, it looks just like this one but without the moonroof and with the AMG seats.
Had it for almost a year and believe me, it’s so much fun to drive, and it looks so unassuming. Loving it.

That car is so sick! The design of it is absolutely amazing, I love the way it looks.
I test drove one of these last month. I had almost the same exact impressions. I drove a model with AMG exhaust and upgraded seats, which held me in very well, but I'm 5'7" 150lbs. Big dudes probably won't enjoy the bucket seats.
Pros: incredible exhaust note, high quality interior, menacing exterior, fast as hell for a 2.0T, very precise (though not "feely") steering, good fuel economy and stop/start technology
Cons: delayed shifts, terrible rear headroom, firm suspension
Getting back into my 2011 E350 sedan afterward was very interesting. The comfort and ride are much better, but the V6 is a dog, the auto transmission is even lazier, and the steering is feathery light.
Great review as always, definitely one of the best mercs for the money. Thanks for sharing!

The sluggish transmission in the CLA45 is what made me go with the M235i with ZF8 transmission instead. The ZF8 is brilliant.

blackopsbros1234 ltwargssf R Aren't you guys cool, you think a 355 hp car is slow. I've rode in a twin-turbo Lambo, McLaren, Ferrari etc, I know what fast is. But I also can enjoy a 200 hp Civic Si. The giggles are real. I just enjoy cars regardless of how fast they are.

Such a slept on car. These can be had for like 28k now with 40k Miles. Id take this over an evo anyday.
Very nice to see you reviewing the CLA 45 too, Matt ! I had one for two weeks and disagree with you in a few areas especially the quality of the dashboard, most of it is plastic and not metal. Dual clutch was my biggest disappoint in the car too. Sound is fun :) Get your hands on the Audi S3 for a comparison. I much prefer that car :)

Hopefully he follows your advice. While cool, hard to see where one's money is going on the CLA45 ($20-30K over base model) given the fact the CLA250 and new C-Class exist. It isn't on looks, interior design or quality.
TheGetawayer Funny having seen both I came away feeling like the S3 was just as "low quality" as the CLA. Both definitely did not feel like a traditional Audi or Merc like one would expect.
Joel deSanto I imagine for most people that buy the 45 it's the engine that's the draw (and AWD vs the C class). AMG engines don't come cheap.
Guido: they have improved the tranny software since you reviewed it.

You've no idea what you're talking about, the RS3 isn't even on sale, and the 235i was considered better then the CLA45. The M2 is a drivers car, RWD, more power, the BMW handling, its one of the best cars BMW ever built. It does cost 15k more thought. Don't speak out of your ass..

TigR 5hark I'm aware. My point is that the CLA is way too expensive for what it is. The fact that you're within $5,000 of an M3(which have a base price of 62k, not 67), or a C63 for that matter, is quite ridiculous. CLA45 is way too expensive.
Martin Allen yeah, i don't think so.... the mk1 miata had an lsd as an option. there are cars with heated seats as an option. in winter a heated seat is your savior :)
What I really love on these AMG's are the Crackles and pops.

The car has a 106 inch wheelbase and weighs over 3600 lbs. It's not a "tiny little car."
