the other dark level, totally fly, is basically the alternate skull route level of night fight because the music is the skull route level music of this night fight level
The stack of boxes at 1:33 can be pretty glitchy. I hit the middle box once, and heard the sound effect for Nitro exploding, but it didn't explode. I still died though.
Beat the level twice while breaking 46 boxes by going to the death route first and then beating the right route backwards. Watched this guide and decided the break the wooden box over the nitro even though i was sure that usually the nitros break the wooden crates but apperantly not. Either this is yet another "watching a guide where they do the exact same thing that you have been doing for an hour and for them it works so you just play the level like before whilst changing nothign and all of a sudden it works" strategy or just the nitros don't break the wooden boxes next to it in which case that's a literal game design flaw. Im glad that they fixed it in the remake which i do own on steam but it runs like garbage on my gaming laptop for some reason

That music is also used in the secret route of Turtle Woods.
Basically Turtle Woods with a Death Skull route, blue/purple mushrooms and enemies from Road to Ruin/Ruination, and the saucers from the sewer levels.

I don't get what they were thinking designing those levels like they did in the first place, it's just pure BS when they fly ahead of you.
I always liked the dark levels in Crash :p but it doesn't beat riding the little polar bear.
...so that's all you have to do for the death route to get all the boxes, huh? BOY have I been making things unnecessarily difficult all this time

Playing this completely dark is on another league of difficulty
