    I am a former tech worker who lived in NYC for 30 years. At 50, I started an Amazon FBA business. Fun, but neither career allowed time for healthy living.
    Last year, I turned 60, overweight, out-of-shape, pre-diabetic, with high cholesterol, and couldn't walk 20 minutes without resting.
    In August 2023, I began the carnivore diet. I lost 65 pounds in 3 months.
    Now, I can walk for miles without a rest. My cholesterol and blood pressure are at healthy levels, and I am no longer pre-diabetic. I feel 30 years younger, and I'm passionate about sharing my story to help others.

    Okay... so you asked what I think...? Here it is: You do the BEST shopping videos on RUclips IMO. I've suggested, asked, even criticized (respectfully) other Carnivore RUclipsrs for walking around, picking up packages of unidentifiable (questionable) size, and saying "Wow, this is a great deal... only $35...". For WHAT?
    Is it 2-lbs? 6-lbs? 10lbs? You can't tell on camera. Sometimes they flash a pic of the lable, but not clear or long enough to read price-per-pound. Very frustrating! Thanks for doing a great job. 👍 I'm a Subscriber, and fellow Lion dieter. I Lost 224 lbs and kept it off. Today is my 1000 day Carniversary 🥩+💦+🧂= 😃

      Costco's steaks are blade tenderized (Says so on the label) which means like ground beef they have to be over cooked to be safe from E.coli. If you buy a whole rib roast or a whole strip loin and cut it yourself you can get a good deal and cut it to the thickness you like,

      Costco 🇨🇦Canada is a VERY expensive meat store…read your weekly food flyers online and shop local specials‼I spend so much less at METRO in Ontario, Canada🇨🇦Their meat special (give away prices) coincide with the long weekend summer holidays! I budget for those amazing sales! I go home and vacuum pack all the meat and freeze. Hope this helps.

    I shop for one person for meat also and I like that you look at a piece of meat and estimate how many meals it will make. You comparison shop price per pound. These details are so important for these big ticket purchases. @Jaylwoodworth I'm going to be somebody's bestest friend today? Costco you can get a *CASE* of *Chuck* *Roll* for $4.19 lb A Chuck Roll has all the Steaks some Ribeye, Denver Steaks still attached.. when they make Chuck Burger they cut all the expensive steaks out and all you get is the Chuck grind. So now you know why some Deli's have the best Burgers because they grind the whole chuck roll. You get 2 chuck rolls in a case, so just slice your steaks like 1 1/2 inches thick and vacuum seal them by daily portion. Comes to close to $290.00 but you have to buy a case to get the deal... Don't worry about getting bored like I said there's all kinds of different cuts in a whole chuck roll. *Beef* *Brisket* $3.79 lb that's a great deal also.

    next time you're at costco ask one of the butcher guys about their whole chuck rolls.. normally $4.19 - 4.69 per lbs and they're 20 - 30 lbs each roll. Then you cut them into steaks.. freeze what you wont eat in a week. I just started that... huge cost savings. I dont even fuss with trying to properly butcher.. legit just cut it into 2 inch or larger slices.. its got chuck eye steaks, chuck roast, denver steaks in it.

      is the meat tough in a chuck roll? whenever i get chuck roast i tend to put it in the slow cooker to break it down all the way. maybe low and slow on a smoker but like a brisket that meat gets very well done unlike a med/rare steak...

    • @OrbitX2
      @OrbitX2 Месяц назад +3

      @@brandonjensen2250 i've cooked it up as steaks (charcoal grill) med rare and roasts (slow cooker or pressure cooker) well done/fork shreddable... always turns out great. There are small portions you could call tough, like the silver skin and tendons.. but there is very little and easy to cut out. I personally like the chew variety so i leave it all in, plus its a good source of collagen. I will sometimes put that stuff in the air fryer separately. Also if you are worried about any muscle meat being tough you could just dry brine it in the fridge before cooking.

      @jmaus2k Месяц назад +1

      @@brandonjensen2250 One side of the chuck roll is next to a ribeye and is tender. The other side is tougher and more likely what you get when you buy a packaged chuck roast. The Butcher Wizard has a video to show you how to get all the cuts from a chuck roll.

    Magnesium citrate is good to help keep you regular in the 💩 department. I used it when I first started carnivore, took a multi form (citrate, oxide and succinate), one every night, after I enjoyed a week of constipation. I know, TMI. Something to keep in mind if the change in way of eating, or frequency of eating, gives you problems in that area. Fantastic meat haul! Glad you were able to find your new favorite cut. Buffalo, venison or bison steaks would be awesome if you could find them, might be cost prohibitive though. I have friends who hunt, which helps a ton with venison.

    My one item that I have left to drop is ice cream; Hagan Das; it has 4 ingredients, mostly animal based but one ingredient is sugar and a good amount of it but in 3 months I have dropped all other sugar/carbohydrates. It was not easy as I am Italian and pasta was a comfort food for me but after awhile I did not crave it. I even had a little bit one time and I wasn't impressed; don't miss it at all. I am losing my cravings for ice cream; won't be long now. My grown daughter was over and she had a bag of chips so I had one chip. That's was all, one chip; didn't want any more. 😊

      Yes, it’s tough. I know Whole Foods has keto ice cream which has stevia instead of sugar. It’s expensive and it’s not ideal for this diet, but switching to keto ice cream could be a good step toward eliminating ice cream entirely.

    I live on a paltry pension of just £620 per month here in the UK. £300 per month goes on bills but I am lucky as I have no rent or mortgage to pay. So with a little over £75 a week budget my carnivore diet has to be as cheap as possible. Here is my shopping list every week.
    Two tins of sardines in spring water. £ 1.20
    Two tins of mackerel fillets in spring water. £ 2.00
    20% fat ground beef mince £ 2.49
    1 kg chicken thighs £ 3.25
    Pack of lambs liver £ 2.48
    1 kg braising steak (chuck in the US) £10.00
    18 eggs £ 4.50
    Butter £ 1.69
    Total cost of food per week.... £36.61
    Since changing to this diet I am no longer a pre diabetic, I am off all medications, weight down from 89kgs to a healthy 76.5kgs and now have a slim stomach, no "boobs" and more energy. This diet has literally changed my health around and as you can see it does not have to cost a small fortune.

    Hi Jay, I think you were wise to skip over the Sirloin. I have bought it a few times but find it is as tough as shoe-leather so I can't eat it. I would rather pay more and eat less and get the ribeye steaks. My true favorite is the New York Strip steaks especially when they include that nice thick fat on the side. I find them tasty and tender. I also love lamb... the Lion diet is all ruminant animals the ones with several stomachs. Some ruminant animals like goats will eat more than just grass. The short ribs are always more costly because of that very unique flavor that rib meat has. You can't beat the taste of Short ribs.
