Whenever someone consistently backfists, I bob and counter with an overhand so their own momentum causes them to crash into the punch. Once they see what I'm doing, I'll usually telegraph a slow backfist so they try to do the same thing to me, but I'll turn it into a spinning back kick instead, usually getting them right in their (now lowered) face. Always gently, of course! Haven't injured a training partner yet. But I always get a bunch of ''ooieeee's'' after both of those tricks haha
With a little bit of distance adjustments, these setups could be use for other spinning techniques as well (spinning elbow, spinning side kick....), and i love the first one, use it all the time. Great stuffs as always
I'm trying to start my own gym and watching your progression really helps with coming up with a curriculum there's always a thousand ways to skin a cat keep up the great work
Nice. Another good one I love using is setting up the opponent with a simple double jab or 1-2 combo that they can slip. Then another jab followed by the spinning backfist -- which they slip right into off the jab, making the collision worse. 💥
I've used all those set ups before. Another I like is to pull their leg into me after I caught it, pass it to the other hand and have them run into a spinning backfist or elbow depending how close they are.
Good advice to keep your palms down. If your fist has the thumb up and hit the target with your elbow 1st, bad things will happen. Which is why it is important to get your sites on the target before you strike.
Damn, this is so much better and technical than the way most people throw it. I often see the average people throwing this at random and out of range just to prove that they know stuff.
@@MMAShredded Np man! I think your technique videos are the best on this entire platform. I love seeing the isolated examples with a coorperating partner first, and then real sparring footage arfter! Your videos has really improved my repertoire of combos and such!
@Amrit Goraya yes it is prohibited since the general rules of boxing is to hit your opponent with the knuckles of your fist and generally boxing rules prevent striking with the bottomfist and forearm which the spinning backfist uses.
Amazing, glad I checked out your channel before I went sparring tonight. I am going to be trying these for sure! Keep it up man, when is your next fight I want to see you compete :)
what about back leg step behind front like doing a step side kick but then you turn (so now the leg that was behind is in front as you turn) into a spin back fist then maybe some follow up move could that be effective its something i was trying when practicing taekwondo moves. would that be practical or too fancy
So as a rule should we be following through with the rotation into the southpaw stance? Noticed at certain times you did and others you didn't. Seems to be a mixture of the two online.
Jeff, you should do a collaboration with stuart Tomlinson channel on this. Your definitly up there as a good instructor, i've been following you for years. Good stuff and cant wait to have the chance to train with you
Good Job Son though the pause in 2nd one shouldn't be needed if u stepped through more and hit with power swrmipe through their guard. Ur doing tag way not KO way u should spin farther step deeper into other stance and can throw cross and high kick after one fluid motion. Watch my 3 tricky spinning backfists and cluster system vids
The one thing I have always loved and respected about your videos is you showing the failed attempts. It just highlights the point that we are human and not everything is going to work 100 percent of the time. I bet it shuts up alot of keyboard warriors too. 😁
its great for boxing, but in Muay Thai or MMA, you have to worry about low kicks or takedowns. I still lean back a lot, but as long as you don't repeat the same pattern, you should be okay. If you are always leaning back, your opponent will adapt !
I also really Like the backfist but more like a Hammerfrist followed with a Hook or overhead. Just Like No.2. But i don't Like no.3. a few Sparring Partners tried exactly this and we Had no MMA rulez. The back of the head was so open for a counter or, choke and the knees Open for a Kick from behind.
Hey, i saw your video how to fight taller opponents, actually im 15yr old and 5'7, my dad is 5'7 my mom is 5'2. What height do you think i will reach when i fully grown? (sorry if i made mistakes, im not native English speaker xD)

Try a inside lowkick switch to spinning back kick.

Hi, in boxing the spinning back fist isn't allowed right?
@Elton Saliu???
@Amrit Goraya yes it is prohibited since the general rules of boxing is to hit your opponent with the knuckles of your fist and generally boxing rules prevent striking with the bottomfist and forearm which the spinning backfist uses.
not allowed in pure boxing I believe
Thanks coach
no problem!
I love these sneaky setups, I'd be sure to practice and apply these in training and sparring.
