tbh i think the sweep could easily be counted for example with the fist kick he showed its used when they coming at you so if you can see them coming then ya while watching there were multiple openings where a kick or even punch would land

@@cameronbaker-kf3ukevery move you use haves their counters like the jab or the cross, there are numerous of ways to counter them but that doesn't mean they are useless, the same goes for the sweep, if you know when to use it without telegraphing its okay

For the hard sparring guy, you throw a lot of gentle finishing moves. I just watched guys charging through your head kicks not realizing they have you to thank for still having their heads attached.
I will do my best to acknowledge that when it happens.

REAAAALLLY appreciating that you shows how/when it DOESN'T work, and why.
Really helps figuring out the core principles at hand.
My personal favorite (as a low level fighter, though) is a push kick to the belly, when I feel the opponent is a second away from launching a forward-dashing storm/combos.
Then chain it with hop step side kick, very frontal-like too, to nail opponent's will to advance on me and break his/her rythm.
It gives me either the attacker's role back, or if opponent tries to side-step I'll start cross combos with my momentum/position, or at worst it will just give me time to catch my breath (which is how I use it the most, admittedly, at my poor gas tank level xD)
    Love those combinations/swiss-knife tips xD

I'm a pretty bad boxer, dropping my guard quite often and by that i have a hard time with some guys in my group who are half my age, very agile and aggressive, going forward. I used a couple of distancing through front and mid kicks (knees are out of the calculation as are sweeps as the group has many ppl without knowledge of how to fall) and started becoming better in evading - and now they adapted and bring way more mid and high kicks.
That throws me off right now, but i appreciate the ideas shown in here and will test frame and cross as more forward answers.

  • @jinsou8461
    @jinsou8461 8 месяцев назад

    1. Intercepting Left Body Kick: 0:00
As your opponent advances, pivot your rear foot, stepping into the kick.
Aim the kick across their midsection, using their forward motion against them.
    2. Hip Sweep: 0:41
Following a left body kick, if the opponent continues forward, step around them.
Use your legs to sweep theirs from under them, targeting when they are mid-step for maximum effect.
    3. Intercepting Long Knee: 2:15
Wait for the opponent to close in, then deliver a knee strike aiming with the top of your thigh or kneecap.
Maintain your balance by keeping the non-striking foot firmly planted.
    4. Inside Foot Sweep: 3:09
Target the opponent’s lead leg when they step forward.
Hook your foot around their calf and push, aiming to sweep the leg while off-balancing them with your hands.
5 Parry Block to Cross: 4:21
When faced with a hook, use a carriage block with one arm while delivering a cross punch with the other.
Ensure your blocking arm is tight to your head to prevent the punch from connecting.
    6. Punching While Moving Backwards: 5:05
Use footwork to retreat while delivering jabs to keep the opponent at bay.
When the opportunity arises, plant your feet and deliver a powerful cross punch.
    7. Footwork to Create Angles: 6:02
Utilize lateral movement to avoid a head-on clash.
Use your lead arm to frame against the opponent, helping to create space and angles for counterattacks.
    8. Using Frame to Maintain Strike Range: 6:32
When needing to create space, use your forearm as a frame against the opponent.
Push off to create distance, then counter with a cross punch or other strikes.
    9. Tying Off / Clinching: 7:14
In close quarters, catch the opponent’s biceps with your palms to control their arms.
Use this control to create openings for strikes, stepping off to the side for better leverage and power.

    Incredible video, as usual.
    Thanks Jeff.
    Showerthought wall of text incoming:
your channel is both THE greatest testimony to how efficient constant sparring is at creating superb fighters but ALSO full HD proof of how it can delude good fighters into thinking they're great instead of being humbled and schooled.
So many examples of eating counter hooks and flush kicks to the chin yet going through with their combos and even ramping up the pressure is... I mean dude what?
Don't they get that if you didn't pull back they'd be on the floor (or on a stretcher)?
And of what value is continuing the exchange for the fighters' skills?
And I get that you can't get good by only having professional fights but this is like watching kids try to make up fictional rules on the fly so they don't lose at hide and seek or some shit. It certainly doesn't help them get better at hide and seek.
Speaking of hide and seek, half of these people should have been seeking medical help from the concussions you gracefully protected them from.
I think that sparring - at least at your level - needs two things to be fruitful for both parties:
    A) A similar expertise of martial arts. Not art. Arts.
    B) and just straight up high IQ. NOT fight IQ, but also pattern recognition and social and emotional intelligence.
So, so much nuance and it's both beautiful and baffling.

    1. Soon as opponent steps forward pivot back foot into position for lead body kick
    4. When opponent steps into range, bring back foot into pivoted position in order to sweep their lead leg with your lead leg. Post onto their head/neck with your lead arm. Aim for just below their calf with your lead leg. Kick to right, push head to left.
If you miss the sweep keep posted arm on opponent as a guide for the cross.
    5. If opponent throws a hook, carriage block and go into cross. Angle body outward to generate power.
    6. Stay busy with jab as opponent is moving forward. Throw jabs while moving backwards Eventually plant feet and throw heavy cross.
Or step back with lead leg and go into a heavy hook with the back hand.
    7. Lead arm to frame on arms, push them to the right. Circle out to the left.
