    Vlad is one of the best instructors I've ever had the chance to take a seminar with and for some reason he still flies under the radar when he does tours. If you get the chance to take one, no matter your martial art, do it.

    one of the most underrated techniques in mma. everyone is shooting singles and doubles. problem is a) everyone knows how to defend them b) typically a lot of energy is spent in the process. those foot sweeps, when used properly are pretty much effortless AND when done right you always land in a dominant position. Another advantage is that most people don't see them coming. Also works no-gi with over / under hooks and neck grips.

      It is not very high percentage in MMA. Singles and doubles are better because you can always force them into your opponent.

    He is such a great instructor. Love how he used judo terminology. Is that the usual thing to do in sambo? He demonstrated what we call Okuri Ashi Barai, not Deashi Barai. Last one is definitely a Kosoto Gari instead of Kosoto Gake.

      No sir. We use our own terminology in Sambo. I use Japanese names because more people are familiar with that and also Russian names are mouthful.

      No to sh..t on sambo, but the techniques there are 80% or more are from judo. Of course there are variations due to different rules etc. but the techniques are the same.

    His teaching ability is extremely high level. I wish I wasn’t all jacked up and could learn this stuff. If I could go back to early life, pre-injuries, I think I’d make combat Sambo my preferred art. They cover all aspects and it’s pretty dope.

    shotokan has beautiful no hands sweeps. have spent hours training them. they can be countered easily if telegraphed which is why timing, like he said, is everything. the key is to make first contact on their ascension, also like he said.

    excellent demonstration of kosoto gake and it's mechanic. Most other people would simply just wrap their leg around the other person and describe that as the hook

    Great video, I knew this anyway but RUclips recommended it either ways. But why do I get a feeling the guy in the red really loves getting swept, hats off to him for not caring the slightest. I hated getting swept, it takes a huge part of your confidence out of you instantly.

    The school Im with practices HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts) and I have been working with a few other members for us to practice more Ringen (wrestling) with techniques from Fiore dei Liberi as well as Jessica Finleys book on medieval wrestling. These Sambo vids have been invaluable as there is plenty of cross over (like with most martial arts, only so many ways you can manipulate the human body).
    Thank you for this, quite tempted to make the drive out there some time for Vlads instruction
