Made two of these yesterday using your recipe for the filling and they turned out great, perfectly flat and delicious! The only difference is that the color of my filling was not a bright orange like yours. Can you think of a reason for this? Oh, I did substitute honey for the sugar, but I would think that would make it darker rather than lighter. I enjoyed the video tremendously and will be investigating others over the next weeks as we get into the fall season. I appreciate your Scripture quotes too! Thanks!
It all comes down to the purée you used. Most purées should technically just be “pure” pumpkin, but some do add other ingredients that can usually dull the color of the purée. Another factor is that purée will lose its color and flavor over time, turning into a musty color. Either way it is still perfectly fine to eat. Another reason for your darker color is your oven. Some ovens, over time, can generate hot spots where one region of the oven is hotter than the other. This can result in bad color. Make sure your oven is tuned correctly.
I’m Canadian so we’ve already had our thanksgiving, but I’m going to make this anyways because it looks so good! Different than any pumpkin pie I’ve made 😋 🥧 and you can have pie anytime 😉

-Yes! Everything I make, I always make gluten & dairy free! I always use gluten free flour etc. To replace the eggs you can use 3 tbsp of cornstarch.This will help the pie keep it's shape and thickness without the eggs :) -Yes you can use nutmeg instead of cinnamon! You can customize the spices as you wish! -And instead of pie weights, you could use dried beans, or parchment paper seperating an oven safe dish to weigh it down. The main goal is to just provide a little weight to make sure the pie crust does not bubble up while baking. Hope this helps!! :)

I have not tried it with this recipe but from what I am reading online it looks like you can use coconut sugar as a 1:1 replacement for granulated sugar. I look forward to hearing how your pie comes out 🧡🥰

Yea thank you. I think I’ll invest in a silicone pie liner. The aluminum foil always come off and I’m afraid to tighten it up again for fear I’ll break the crust or burn myself.
Great video. I love the can so called pumpkin. But, found out the canned pumpkin isn’t real Pumpkin which is fine with me I still like it but it’s a mixture of squash. Butternut and 1 or 2 other squash puréed. Love homemade pumpkin pies
