Used this recipe last night. Added a pinch of cloves and black pepper. It's divine! And that double cream/cream cheese frosting was an amazing call AND helped me use up the rest of the cream . Score.
I've been cooking with the big pumpkins for years now, they taste great the flavour mostly comes from the condensed milk and spices. Will have to try out the small ones next year
Sally, you explain so well, appreciate the contagious enthusiasm :) I made a pumpkin pie a couple days ago very similar to this one, but! Here's a tip, add 2 - 3 tablespoons of dark rum :0 it complements the flavors perfectly! :)
@@mindfulbaking yes pumpkin pie is so yummy!! And yes, I like mine cold too! I have a question, your ceramic bowls, I need them in my life!! They look like the same ones from GBBO? I just made it! Wonderful thank u It tastes amazing Note: I followed the 10” measurements and it was more than I required for my ten inch pie pan (the crust and the filling) so i made another small pie with the remaining amount, also I added more cinnamon and ginger because I love it quite spiced and turned out perdect for me
Wow! Never tried a pumpkin pie before, so didn’t know what to expect, but... oh gosh, it is soooo gooood! I’m so glad I made it, I’ve got a feeling it will become a regular in our kitchen during pumpkin season! 🥰 Also with Sally here, with the love of apple pie, love seasonal recipes! 🧡💚

Can’t wait to eat my pumpkin pie! Saving it for tomorrow, hopefully going to a pumpkin patch with my family for fun so I thought that it would suit the occasion! Thank you for the recipe. The stress was worth it, it came out well!
I am going to use an oil crust instead of a butter crust. I have tried it on other pies that require a blind bake and it worked well. I just finished roasting my pumpkin and plan to follow this pumpkin pie recipe by Sally, except adding more spices (adding dried red chile, cardamom and allspice). I love Sally and Jemma showing me how to improve my baking. THANK YOU. From Suz R, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA
As a kid I hated pie (idk why) but I loved pie crust and that is all I would eat if given pie. So my grandmother caught on to this and would make "pie crust cookies", which was the excess dough with cinnamon and sugar on them. They were one of my favorite snacks and she still makes them for me even though I eat the pie.
Thank you Gemma for the recipe. For the pumpkin puree I have a quicker way. I cut and peal the pumpkin in small dices and I microwave them for around 10 min in a microwave proof bol. And voilaaaaa, easy and super quick puree (way more easy than 1h in the oven).
Sally, thank you for all of the great content. My wife watches every single video! You and Jemma have been a big inspiration for her baking over the last few years. The best part is I get to try all of the final products!! LOL
Nice to see our North American pie traveling around the world. I know at first thought many British, Irish, Australians and Kiwis would think "Pumpkin pie? Disgusting!" because its mainly eaten in those countries as a savory side dish. But give it a try as a dessert pie and most people really enjoy it.
I'm American, and we simplify our pumpkin pies (because usually there's too much else to bake/cook at holidays) by not blind baking piecrust, using canned pumpkin filling and (my favorite) whipped cream squirted from a can (all air, but still fun and delicious).
Amazing presenter you’re a natural and could watch you all day. I’m not a baker so I won’t be trying this in a hurry but maybe some day! I made the mistake of thinking the pumpkins we carved for halloween could be made into puree for pie but alas there’s not much going on inside. Doh!
Finally, somebody said punkin pie from scratch in the video because a lot of videos used can,in for me, is not from cero. Thanks a lot for showing us ❤.
I baked pies a few times and I always have trouble with the crust falling apart when I roll it out or pick it up but I didn't have too much trouble with this one 👍🏼
My auntie emigrated to NY in the 50's so when I was a child in the 70's I was used to having this, I LOVE Pumpkin pie, now its pumpkin pie everything 😋😋
my mom always re-rolled the extra dough, then cut it into diamonds. some she put a blob of jam in the middle of, others got a swipe of butter then a sprinkle of cinnamon and sugar. she baked them on the other oven rack since then only took a few minutes, 10 or 15 I think. it was a great snack that kept us from bugging her whilst she was cooking.
Any other Brits struggling to find cooking pumpkins, the really tiny pumpkins for decorating (the ones that fit in your palm) are absolutely delicious, but you might need 2-3 for this recipe! I was scouring every shop for the size in this video and couldn't find any, but my husband came back from Tesco/Lidl (I know he'd been to both, not sure where he got them) with all these tiny 'novelty pumpkins' that are perfect for cooking. I believe they're called Jack Be Little pumpkins.
I've just made this with butternut squash because, as you say, eating pumpkins are not easy to get hold of here. So far, I can't tell the difference 🤤🤤🤤🧡

As an American living in the UK I loveeee to see comforts from home becoming popular here! If anyone needs to know you can sometimes get pumpkin puree from waitrose or tesco in the american section 🎃🎃🎃
But if you use the pumpkin, you get to have yummy roasted pumpkin seeds! My Anglo-American friend introduced me to pumpkin pie and pumpkin soup. She made them from scratch from the pumpkins she'd carved for Halloween (she must have been lucky because they were delicious) and they have more seeds than the sweet little ones. I really miss not being able to visit her this year, especially in the Autumn!
