  • With the merger between Groupe PSA and Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles finally completed, I wanted to share more updates on the name, logo, and other important details about the one merged entity going forward. I’ve got some updates as well as some information from a Carlos Tavares interview that was done on January 21, 2021, answering some FAQs and addressing important issues and questions.
    The merger was first announced 15 months ago, a $52B deal in October 2019, and the deal was officially completed this past week on January 19th, 2021. That merger creates the world’s fourth-largest carmaker by volume, and is expected to reduce costs by $6.1B, 80% of which will be realized before 2025. The combined annual sales will be 8.1 million vehicles, with total annual profits of $14.5B. The new automotive group, called Stellantis, will be led by the CEO Carlos Tavares, who was the CEO of Groupe PSA prior to the merger. Current FCA CEO Mike Manley becomes the Head of Americas with respect to Strategy and Performance.

      I’m a huge Chrysler fan. Hopefully PSA doesn’t screw over FCA. Chrysler cannot afford any more issues than they already had such as bad mergers and bad management. Chrysler NEEDS to come back! If they stay loyal to the customers I will stay loyal to the brand. If only lee iococca was here! He tried so hard to keep Chrysler afloat and he did and it was actually one of the most successful companies. It only makes me like the brand more because he saved the company so hopefully Chrysler will live on as an AMERICAN brand. Please Lord help them out make this company be successful with ALL the brands And save peoples jobs and livelihoods

      The good thing about PSA they are giving their companies the ability to do what they want, of course they share platforms and power trains and parts but the 3008 compared to Opel/Vauxhall suvs are very different and the 208 and Corsa have different styles and the new Opel Mokka is very different from the 2008 both offer a different style their own identity so when you sit in a Peugeot, Citroen and Opel/Vauxhall they all feel different and the problem about FCA is they always reuse the same interior it nearly looks the exact same and they drive nearly the exact same.

      Chrysler, because it's been basically dormant for some time, has potential both in the US and China.
      Even though making Opel the group's global brand seems a most logical move given the prestige of German brands, in the US Chrysler should be selling rebranded Opel or Peugeot cars.
      Dodge may ultimately be the most endangered Stellantis brand once the current generation is retired. The Dodge name, however, could live on attached to Ram as was basically the Cerberus plan when it wanted to make Dodge all trucks/SUV.
      I keep hearing Vauxhall is in danger but don't believe it given the UL's overall nationalist Brexit anti German mood. Vauxhall is only a branding exercise that costs little to promote.
      Lancia should stay Italia only with Yipsilon sold as a FIAT or Citroen in all other markets.
      Stellantis must create a R&D mash up JV with a company like Tata's JLR for future RWD models for Alfa, Maserati and Dodge. Cost cutting would be huge, quality could improve and all involved brands would become more fit. In the process DS should probably be closed since it only makes money in France and seems designed for China as opposed to European or US sales.
      Opel-Vauxhall-Chrysler could make an amazing global brand giving Stellantis a chance to re-enter markets like India and China where Peugeot failed.

    Chrysler needs to be more upscale and luxury, just as dodge has become more sporty. When I think of Chrysler I think of the following vehicles\Trim Levels.. LHS, 300M, Concorde limited, Limited, Lxi .. just to name a few. Chrysler needs to stick to their luxury game and build upon it heavily. Also they need to offer premium trim levels with standard leather as they have at certain points in their history. For example, for the 2022 model year of the 300.. Base trim 300S - Mid trim 300c - top trim Pinnacle.

    • @MarspeedCars
      @MarspeedCars  3 года назад +9

      Unfortunately I think they are just too late for that. Maybe with the 300 but it’s already way cheaper than all competitors offering similar vehicles. The pacifica is pretty cheap other than the top trim Pinnacle and now Chrysler seems to want to phase out the 300. In my eyes they are now a people mover brand that needs a lot of vehicle options with SUVs and electric vehicles in this ‘new era’. Maybe they can still carry that ‘budget luxury’ name though that they once did in the mid 2000s with the 300C, Aspen, Crossfire, etc. Always cheaper than a BMW or Merc with equal or better performance and a nice interior

I hope they'll remake the current FCA models on it, they will save a ton on money on the long term, there is no need for a lot of R&D and the ridiculously old Chrysler platforms can finally become a piece of the past. No hate intended, just saying that they are becoming very obsolete whereas the PSA platforms are quite excellent in terms of quality, gas economy, etc
    For the Mopar HEMI-powered, Alfa and Maserati models, they can make a special platform that can accomodate from coupés to full-size vehicles, because I think we can all agree that the days of selling millions V8 and even V6 powered cars are gone; they still represent some thousands of sales but either Stellantis optimises the cost of such models, either they will have to cancel some of them

      Chrysler will be back but it’s gonna need a lot of work. I’d bring a Peugeot SUV in next damn year and rebranded it as the Chrysler imperial or something. Stick a 4 cyl, pentastar, and 5.7 as your engine options, bam, Chrysler begins it’s revival. Then after 2023 a smaller newer gen 300 comes out and there’s more life
