But Vegeta not only understood that his son was trying to communicate with him, he understood what his son was trying to say and made the effort to respond to his son and treat him as a mental equal. And that is where we will stop the analysis, and all agree that that was a touching moment of fatherhood.

Also any bystanders are typically either dead or evacuated by this point, and any who remained probably wouldn't have the balls to draw attention to themselves. ...though in this case, maybe Tom piped up because no one's really noticed what the massive existential threat looming over them truly is, as the fighting thus far has been *relatively* tame in terms of environmental destruction. Help, I'm lost in this rabbit hole...
That first bit actually explains a LOT and really is solid for explaining the logistics. I always kind of figured that is moreso a testament to the type of guy Tom is. Remember, he was there for Piccolo back when he trained alone in the wastes before the series began. Tom was ALWAYS there when someone needs a friend, and Cell needed a friend. Sure, Tom still got fucking atomized with the rest of the island in a horribly violent blast that must have been agonizing to experience, but he did what he could until the very end. A true hero that we all can be. A terrible loss that silently shook episode 49's very foundation. We should all strive to be more like Tom, but hopefully considerably less exploded.
Ya know a running gag I noticed in this arc is a character going : "Who knows what kind of atrocities they're committing as we speak?", only to then cut over to the androids/Cell doing something random and not really evil. A pretty funny one that I don't see mentioned.

i like to imagine that screaming impossibly loud to eachother is just how the inhabitants of the archipelago communicate. just:

"hang on i'll ask him... *shouting* GREG!!!"
*in the distance* "...WHAT"
"YOU STILL GOOD FOR TONIGHT?"
"...YEAH MAN LET'S GET IT!"
*further in the distance* "WHAT IS GREG DOING?"

The back and forth between Cell and Vegeta at the end of the episode is possibly my favorite exchange in the entire series. For me it's best writen and best acted dialogue in the series. Absolute peak Vegeta. Looking forward to the next set of episodes. Also Super Android 13 lol.
That music used when they first enter the Room Of Space And Time is an instrumental version of the DBZ song "White & World & True"...these guys DID it, how could they forget??

been rewatching the Commentaries and i just realized something, unless Yamcha's Wish after the Cell games to revive everyone also restored the islands Cell blew up this episode theres an implication that a City's worth of people were revived in the middle of the Ocean with no land for miles.
Maybe Shenron included the island as a freebie?

When you released the full version of the mustache song, it did give me the feeling that there was a joke I was not getting, but it was fun and catchy so I couldn't complain anyway.
