Very well detailed videos! Topic I'm interested in: 1. Military to commercial pilot 2. Flight attendant to pilot 3. Programs that regional airlines have to make new pilots.
Maybe a video about the upsides and downsides of being a commercial pilot. How does your day/week as a pilot look like? How much off-time do you have per week? Can you live a "normal" life just like everyone else? Would be greatly appreciated if you can make a video about that, especially for persons like i am who want to become a pilot in a couple of years.
We want an updated” a day in the life of an airline pilot “. Also we want weekly or daily vlogs! Like this comment if you agree so we can see the daily flights, layovers, hotels, jet lag, and new cities 😊
As I stated in your other posts, you are an excellent spokesman for your airline. Management must know this. I can see you being an instructor in no time.
Extremerecluse Fallows You probably mean, ׳Captain’. Like Marko said, you would need to be an instructor for a few years to build up your hours, before you can join an airline training programme.
You could probably go to one of the Asian airlines and go directly to a Boeing or Airbus as a first officer. Advancement is mostly likely much quicker and the pay is way better. With his current experience, he could apply. I know they are desperate for experienced and lower time pilots in Asia. And the pay is better than the American Flag carriers.
I hope Envoy understands what a powerful recruiting tool Swayne’s videos are. I’m a CFI building time currently, and I’ve already looked at Envoy a bit. Swayne gives an incredible real world experience and personality to being a first officer for what appears to be a super solid regional. Thank you Swayne and safe flying
I'm a gate agent at an out-station that gets Envoy E145s. It's cool to see the pilot's side of the process, since for us the quick turn is pretty much everything.
@@SwayneMartinPilot awesome. You should come sit with us one day and see how we deal with the 45+ flights a shift. Look forward to seeing you on my releases. :)
Swayne, this is one of the most informative aviation videos I've seen on RUclips. You did a great job packing a lot of information into a few minutes. And I'm happy to see Envoy is supporting this; it seems to be much harder for US pilots to create such content than for your overseas peers. Looking forward to seeing more of these videos. Safe landings! - Martin
I’m a fueler right now but I hope to be where you are one day. I always see you guys out during your walk around. Thanks for taking the time to explain a little more about what you’re doing.
I work as a fueler for in Salt Lake City, I’m going to school working on my commercial license, can’t wait to join you in the airline business. As a fueler we always appreciate it when the flight crew thanks us!
I'm a fueler at BDL in CT. Some of the turn times company planes have is crazy! Sometimes I will literally pull on the gate just as the plane gets there, take about 6 or 7 minutes to fuel it, then I'll see the plane ready for departure by the time I'm guided off the plane. PSA loves doing that. The only Envoy we get at BDL are the 175's. Every now and then we will get an Envoy 135/140 that diverts from LGA or something.
6:26 that statement is so thrue ! Coming from the military, I was really amazed during my first days as airline f/o by the swarm of people that reach your aircraft on the second you arrive and you put parking brake on : mechanics, coordinator, jetway operator, cleaning teams, luggages, it's an impressively well synched ballet ! I used to be quite alone with my acft and I felt almost overwhelmed :-D ! Nice video ! Nice job !
You've really articulated this well, great video. We do 30 min turns on the A320 at my airline in Australia, and trialled 25min for a time. Pax boarding, refuelling, loading, engineering and flight deck preparation all has to come together like a well oiled machine. But when it all works it's a thing of beauty...
I was hoping that Purdue would have utilized your skills at the open house/ air show last month, but hopefully Envoy will share you with us next year! Excellent work!
Again, these are awesome videos for people who get anxious about flying (especially ones like me who almost always fly on these exact aircraft). Thanks for making these!
Wow that was a good topic, at my airline we have 25 minute turns, it's sometimes a rush. Best turn were ever had was in Rochester to Clt. We were on fire that day and pax were also. From break set to break release and pushback, 18 minutes. Phew. What a job. Hope you fly safe. Keep up the good videos. Hope ta meet you someday soon.
It is always a rush when you turn the aircraft in less than the allotted turn time. My personal best is 1 minute (the airline schedules 10 minutes for an outstation turn and turns are typically done in about 5-8 minutes) but we deplaned no passengers, boarded no passengers and did not refuel. We needed the 1 minute to review and sign the dispatch release, complete the weight and balance and calculate takeoff performance, and do the postflight walkaround.
These are really interesting for someone to watch who isn't trying to become a pilot! It is helpful for nervous flyers, just to understand just how much is going on behind the scenes to not only keep us safe, but to keep everything moving.
Been watching your videos for over 3 years back in highschool and just decided to go for flight traning. Now i’m a A321 line tranning FO, respect for good work, it’s really motivated me throughout my training!
Swayne! Military aviator here. Great job man. I'm looking at airlines as a possible option when I get back from this deployment. Found your vids. Impressive stuff man. You are quite accomplished.
I work in the AA ramp tower at O'Hare... if you are departing a Golf gate in the Hotel Alley or Lima gate in the Kilo Alley there is a chance I will be the one giving you pushback clearance ;)
that's impressive! I work at Perth T1 (AUS) on an airline operating 3 flights per day to Denpasar (as well as other destinations), always on an A320, passenger load of usually between 140-180 (capacity is 180). From "on chocks" to "off chocks" we have only 30 minutes to deplane all 140-180 passengers and their bags and board a similar amount. flights are generally pretty full and when one thing goes wrong, it is often hard to remain on-time. It's crazy how intricate and detailed every flight is before it even gets off the ground
Started watching your vids when I was flying 172s for a hobby. The most intense and informational videos on flying. Awesome how much you love your career and how it's your life...not just a job. You are essentially out of central casting for who I would expect my pilot to be if I got onto an AA Eagle plane. Hope you get in the left seat soon and end up running 777s soon.

The biggest offender is turning on the APU bleed too soon after starting the APU. Tip for pilots: Let it warm up before attempting an engine start. We don't like having to haul out the huffer because the pilot tried to start an engine seconds after the APU hit 100%. And PLEASE be patient when aligning the AHRS. It is very fussy on these jets. Hey on FSX I can turn around a 737-800 with 133 passengers and 12k in cargo in 20 minutes flat. 27 if I have to wait on the deicing crew and sky chef animations.
I work as a ramp agent for piedmont airlines at ORF(Norfolk, VA) and let me tell you these 25min turn are no joke, I have worked with a couple short turns and boy am I exhausted because you have to move Fast, Marshall the plane in, chock the tires, get the bags off the plane, take the Valets up to the Jetbridge, then put the outgoing bags on to the plane no matter if it's 20 or 50 bags, and do it within 20mins to make sure the plane leaves ON TIME.

Great video as always man. As a captain over on the Republic side it’s nice to see top notch crew members at other airlines. We deadhead and commute on each other so knowing we are all safe and sound on one another’s respective regionals and codeshares I think is vital. And I’m glad you have that mentality about captains. Some of them just sit there but I know I’m working quite a bit to check notams and weather and Mx items constantly especially on days when we have 3+ plane swaps, and having an FO who picks up the programming and airplane prep side of things when you have 25-90s and MELs galore to have to look through and make sure are properly signed, placarded, and within expiration dates, on top of all the other variables of the airport is a god send...Keep it up bud!
I love your videos Swayne... it seems like you’re becoming a celebrity there at envoy. I recently just met Andy La Susa with a group of students and we had a full 20 min conversation about you😂😂
Man when I worked as a ramp lead at a major airline, turning planes around in 30-45 minutes was tough. Especially the 737-800s that came in with 200 bags and 100 PCS of cargo, had to load 160 bags back on all within 30-45 minutes which was tough. I still remember the day we had a massive shortage of workers on shift I think it was about 10 of us total for 4 flights an hour. I was on a flight with me and one other guy loading a 737-800 and we were way past departure time, the captain came down to the ramp and asked what the hold up was. I filled him in on what was going down and he actually jumped into the pit of the aircraft and was helping toss bags. That was the only time I ever seen a pilot doing a baggage handlers work, needless to say we got him out ASAP. I'll never forget that captain.
Excellent video Swayne. Gives great insight as to the crew’s responsibilities while we are busy doing our thing. I’ll recommend this to all of our agents. -from an MQ ramper/agent at CWA.
Wow that seems like the most stressful part of the whole flight. I mean so much data input in 25 min and you have to be precise and correct with how you program the airplane and not to forget anything. Almost like military jet turnaround for next mission.
Great professional video Swayne. I assumed you could file all of your legs before the day started with ATC. Received my SEL back in 1988 while working shift work on a career City Fire Department.
I wish you can be a pilot that can fly with always. I feel safe flying with pilot so detailed like you. I love aviation and you are one of the people who makes it great.

Swayne, I was recently on Envoy, HSV to ORD and was hoping to meet you! Long odds but that would have been cool! Great great video as always! I’m fairly confident that my first crew base will be DTW or ORD. See you on the line!

You gotta be an instructor before an airline pilot (usually), thats how most people build the 1500 required hours for the airlines

Wow that seems like the most stressful part of the whole flight. I mean so much data input in 25 min and you have to be precise and correct with how you program the airplane and not to forget anything. Almost like military jet turnaround for next mission.
I’m literally soo inspired by you! I really want to be a pilot 👩🏻✈️
Good! Keep up the hard work
Hello Swayne, congratulations for these great videos! Salutations from Brazil!
Great professional video Swayne. I assumed you could file all of your legs before the day started with ATC. Received my SEL back in 1988 while working shift work on a career City Fire Department.
Your blogs is really cool, when i wanna became pilot too, high quality and music!
I wish you can be a pilot that can fly with always. I feel safe flying with pilot so detailed like you.
I love aviation and you are one of the people who makes it great.
Love the video as always! Im training for the a320 for a UK based airline and its so funny to hear the difference in pronounciation of things i.e. notams! Love the vids, keep them up
Dude your videos are incredibly informational. These are def helpful to learn how things REALLY WORK.
Awesome video, here in Europe we call the flight release OFP (Operational Flight Plan)
Swayne, I was recently on Envoy, HSV to ORD and was hoping to meet you! Long odds but that would have been cool! Great great video as always! I’m fairly confident that my first crew base will be DTW or ORD. See you on the line!
See you soon!
Your a great ambassador for Envoy and American Airlines
Love these videos. Always so well presented
Great videos! I’m a flight attendant now but I hope to become a pilot within the next 5-7 years, you explain everything you guys do in the cockpit very well, thanks!
I flew the 145 for five years. Loved the airplane. Hated the cockpit seats. We routinely wrote them up for being hard as a rock.
William Potts It’s hit or miss for sure!
Swayne Martin You’re a skinny guy. It’s probably more forgiving 😝
