Never lose sight of the fact that it is a CHECK-list, not a TO-DO-list, as I see so often these days. A CHECK-list is a written confirmation of vital actions you have ALREADY TAKEN -thus, a CHECK-list. Far too often now you’re more likely to see a catch-all, TO-DO list, bloated with unnecessary, unhelpful actions which is used as a crutch to mask inadequate or incomplete training and in some cases, mask outright incompetence. There were 2 articles written by (I think) Mike Busch of AvWeb fame that speak to this far more eloquently than I can. A Google search should pop those straight up. If memory serves, they were titled “checklists” and “checklists redux”.
