I know a lot of theory just not a lot of tunes. I need a real book but don’t know what key is the most common. I was going to buy bB Just because Donna lee is in bB.
As a guitarist you need to get a Realbook in C, bc the guitar is a C Instrument! Horns are tuned in Bb or Eb. It has absolutely nothing to do with what keys the songs are in. They're in all kind of different keys. It's all about what concert pitch your instrument is tuned in. Guitar, piano, bass: C Tenor and soprano saxophone: Bb Alto saxophone: Eb Trumpet: Bb Clarinet: Bb

THE Realbook really sticks tbh. We have a different one here in midfle abd western Eurooe. A Criatian guy made it in the 90s. It's innerhalb, but it's only 1 book (who can carry 3 to a session?) has better keys and mire realustic chips. The chords in the real Realbook are trash. Download "557 Jazz Standards. From Swing to Bop" from the internet and have it printed and a spiral binding.
