Hi Sandra, I have been playing guitar since 1968 (mostly finger style acoustic and some blues/rock with a bit of Celtic thrown in every now and then) but am a complete beginner when it comes to jazz. I just want to complement you on your lessons. They are clear, articulate and easy to follow. Thank you so very much for putting these lessons out for us all to benefit.
Very good lesson! Your explanations and your approach to demonstrating these chords makes total sense. It is so easy to follow. You have a gift for teaching. You tell your students everything they need to know about the lesson and you stay on subject. I wish I would have had your teaching videos 30 years ago! Great job Sandra!

I'm really enjoying your lessons and have learnt a lot from watching your Chord melody series. Thanks for putting so much time and effort into producing these excellent tutorials. You're one of the best teachers on RUclips.

I just discovered your channel, and have to say your teaching is amazing. Your explanation of chord construction is so clear and easy to follow. You're a wonderful teacher! Thank you.
Sandra, this is an enriching introduction into the complex subject of Jazz chords. As a beginner, I can follow your explanations very well, how you came up with the chord families, the E string and A string chords, the changes from major to minor and the difference between half diminished and fully diminished chords. This makes sense to me now - for the first time !!! It’s amazing how well you can explain. And your recommendations how to practice these chords are also very helpful, gave me new insights and are now my roadmap for practicing. This is exactly what I have to say about Sandra , and this website ! What comes to mind is the old adage " when the learner is ready , the teacher will materialize" . Well that's pretty close , I reckon .
You probably aren't checking comments on this lesson anymore, but just in case, I wanted to say thank you! Very well done and I've printed the pdf for future reference. Thanks Russell. I'm glad that you look into other genres and playing styles for new impulses. There's so much to be learnt. I have a very eclectic music taste and it influences all my playing. Enjoy experimenting with the new sound, my friend. Btw, I read every single comment 😉

This is exactly what I have to say about Sandra , and this website ! What comes to mind is the old adage " when the learner is ready , the teacher will materialize" . Well that's
pretty close , I reckon .
Outstanding ! Your teaching is the clearest and most direct that I have encountered. Thanks for your clarity !

Thank you so much for the wonderful lesson, you make an excellent teacher.
You probably aren't checking comments on this lesson anymore, but just in case, I wanted to say thank you! Very well done and I've printed the pdf for future reference. I am not an aspiring jazz player, but am always looking for "different" sounds (and to improve on reading chord charts). This helps immensly. Thanks again!
Thanks Russell. I'm glad that you look into other genres and playing styles for new impulses. There's so much to be learnt. I have a very eclectic music taste and it influences all my playing.
Enjoy experimenting with the new sound, my friend. Btw, I read every single comment 😉
So glad came across your channel. Pure gem.
Welcome to the jazz ride on my channel 😊 🎶 🎸
Vielen Dank! Das ist sehr nett von Ihnen! Sie sind eine sehr gute Lehrerin und mit Ihnen, lerne ich viel!
That makes me very happy 😊
Ted Greene's Chord Chemistry (most important jazz chord book) talks about noticing "chord synonyms". I noticed the Cmaj7 is also am Em/C chord.
You're a great teacher. Thank you!
Absolutely. These are also called Superimpositions. Play an Em7 arpeggio over the Cmaj7 to get a Cmaj9 overall sound.
Best explanation I have ever seen. At last I now know how to quickly work out the 5 and 7 notes are in a chord.
Thanks a bunch! That's a really nice compliment ❤️
Great lesson. Very useful. Thanks a lot Sandra.
Glad to be of help!
I'm a beginner jazz guitarist. Dig your lessons and more importantly, your technique. Helping me immensely. Thx so much!
