plot twist: everyone in that room is trying to do the same thing and they artificially raised the price tens of thousands more than they should've for no reason
Maybe. But when it comes to auctions and money, people can be real shits. If you went around trying to speak to people privately before an auction, telling them you REALLY wanted a specific item for a good cause or a good reason or whatever, there could be some greedy cunt who would outbid you for it who would've otherwise had no interest in getting it in the first place just to try to sell it to you later for even more and turn a profit. This kind of shit happens all the time. Auctions are typically open to anyone who knows they are taking place and some people make their entire lives about sniping up good deals at them as well as exploiting others. Besides, it was being auctioned by his dad's department. All that money was going to the department. I don't think anyone who cared enough to try to bid on that car for that boy would've been too sad about more money going into their police department.
Usually when they have auctions as this the money is then given to help families of fallen officers. So by no means is the money "wasted" as you put it
I have been a volunteer auctioneer and I will go to charity auctions (Which I am not affiliated with) for the sole purpose of paying more than I have to to drive up prices so the charity will make more money. I pay for it myself and get annoyed when people come to charity auctions looking for steals, when the auction is the big fundraiser of the year. Steve Wells is one of the richest, kindest oil men in Weld County. That 60k was nothing to him. Seeing the young mans face and changing his life was worth every penny to him I’m sure.
@GotchaGaming L. I don't think so mate. That car was police property, which means it was paid for by the state. They can't just simply give an expensive car away that's been paid for by state funds, no matter how much the kid deserved to get the car and that's why they did it like this.
What a wonderful human being! Mr. Wells, if you happen to read this, you have my respect and admiration, sir. The world needs more people like you and more acts of kindness just like this. Thank you for being so kind.
I love coming back to this every year as RUclips seems to realize how much I enjoy this it warms my heart and I still remember my first time running into this and I wasn’t expecting him to get it and I was flooded with emotions when he gave the keys away which means he planned on doing that while helping both the police and the son.
@@Ace2Trill why the fuck would a dodge charger cost 60k if its worth around 25k brand new??? They said its valued at 12.5k... stop spreading false info
Ken M bc it’s a bidding war. Doesn’t matter what the cars value is. The kid was willing to spend all that he had on the car and the other was outbidding him no matter how high it went. So the bid got all the way to 60k
I also lost my dad unexpectedly 2 years ago.. I drive his car every day. Just hit 200k and I'm gonna drive that baby til the wheels fall off. and when they do I'll put them back on and drive it some more.
I think all the people bidding past 12,000 were buying it for him, if it weren't for that reason I don't see why someone would pay thousands of dollars overprice for a car for their own use which they could get at a much lower market price.
They can't, thats called corruption. They have to sell it. Its government property, therefore its a government asset, therefore it must reflect in their accounting books. They can't just hand cars out, no matter who or what its for, otherwise it leads to corruption.

Jimmy lee that pretty fuckin stupid if you think this one small simple thing that millions of people won’t ever find out restore your faith in humanity. In other words, you are an idiot.
Why are so many people saying this man "wasted his money" on that car? That he could have "just not bid against him"? Sure. He COULD HAVE just kept his mouth shut and let someone else outbid him. Did any of you stop to think that A) the kid only had a limited savings to go toward the car, and was getting bid against by more than one person... and B) maybe the guy just wanted the car to be a gift to the boy? Maybe he didn't feel it was right to make the boys spend his entire life's savings just to get the car so many feel he rightfully deserved? I don't think he felt his money was "wasted" at all. I wish I could make such a special impact in someone's life, as this man has done for this kid. What a special soul to take the money he didn't NEED and use it to give a gift that will NEVER be forgotten! That's true heart, right there!
well I also think those auctions benefit the police department, so by bidding it up, he made an enormous contribution to the dept. if it was valued at 12k, they were probably expecting 8k or less. over 6 times that is momentous .
Lets take a moment. This man bought him the car, so he could have something of his father. Not only that, but simultaneously making sure he gets it free of charge. This has me on the brink of tears. Damn you
@@salt251 ACAB in my eyes means that cops are part of a system in which being a good cop is optional rather than mandatory. There are genuinely good people who are cops, and I appreciate them. I don't appreciate the many times that bad cops aren't held accountable for their actions. So no, I don't think people like me who say ACAB would dislike this video. Also, the B means bastardized, not bad, and not as an insult. The definition is "lower in quality or value than the original form, typically as a result of the addition of new elements." This means that cops can be genuinely good people but then be pressured into covering for their coworkers rather than protecting the American people. I hope this makes sense and if you have any questions, please ask them :)
ferdonandebull I’m not saying completely universal. But there are too many examples to say that it’s not at least fairly prevalent. It may not even be the majority (at least 51% is what I mean by that), but there is unfortunately a decent amount of police departments which have displayed corruption.

it was probably a fake auction.. no one pays $62,500 for a car that has a book value of $15,000. ex police car are not worth much and you can pick them up at auctions well cheaper than what they expect to get..a guy i know has bought dozens of ex police cars to use on movie sets .
My dad works for the school i used to attend and acts like a saint when others are feeling down. it reminds me of when he used to care deeply and hug me when i was sad and seeing him use the same care to others makes me happy. Definitely is a dad.

lavablood2014 for a good cause tho, he obviously had no problem giving the keys to him.
Agreed, there's not many people who would have paid 60 grand just to give it away.
That guy spent 60K of his own money to give that boy his dads car, what a bloody legend!
Maybe they decided to give it to him from the get go. I doubt he actually paid 60k for it.
Steve Wells is one of the richest, kindest oil men in Weld County. That 60k was nothing to him. Seeing the young mans face and changing his life was worth every penny to him I’m sure.

I mean they should of but they do need money to help out the public it’s not all about one guy
@GotchaGaming L. I don't think so mate. That car was police property, which means it was paid for by the state. They can't just simply give an expensive car away that's been paid for by state funds, no matter how much the kid deserved to get the car and that's why they did it like this.
@GotchaGaming L. Just saying 🤷🏻♂️
What a wonderful human being! Mr. Wells, if you happen to read this, you have my respect and admiration, sir. The world needs more people like you and more acts of kindness just like this. Thank you for being so kind.

TS Hawley bruh you gotta chill
The Trashbag Girls hes being honest though
Sly White Wolf but still tho the dude could chill a little
well I also think those auctions benefit the police department, so by bidding it up, he made an enormous contribution to the dept. if it was valued at 12k, they were probably expecting 8k or less. over 6 times that is momentous .

If you ever feel stupid remember people disliked this video
probably 14 year old emilys that scream ACAB everytime they see a cop.
why would they do that :/
@@salt251 ACAB in my eyes means that cops are part of a system in which being a good cop is optional rather than mandatory.
Jazzy Lev I would say as a thirty eight year police officer that you are delusional or brain washes to think that corruption is a universal thing.
ferdonandebull I’m not saying completely universal. But there are too many examples to say that it’s not at least fairly prevalent. It may not even be the majority (at least 51% is what I mean by that), but there is unfortunately a decent amount of police departments which have displayed corruption.
