Just dont forget, its not a circle. In order to have good and caring students like this there has to be a good and caring environment and people to show the right example (teachers, parents etc). There's no way he could have not cried with this celebration of his awesomeness. We need to hear more about the good cops and hold the bad ones accountable.
Trust me there is many more cops like him it just doesn’t seem that way since the major news outlets controls what we see on tv and this is something they don’t want us to see. Kind of like how they don’t want you to know that only 2% of fatal cop shootings happens to unarmed black people. The media only divides us which leads to hate and misunderstanding of each other even though at the end of the day, no matter your skin color, no matter your religious beliefs, no matter your political beliefs, and no matter your sexual preferences, we will all still die and leave this world the same way, so we might as well make the best of it
@@Mster_J 2% sounds small, until you think about it. How is it OK for the police to ever shoot and kill unarmed people? Or, since guns are legal, even armed people who are innocent. Most people know that there are officers with good intentions, and officers doing good things. But when some are shooting unarmed people and almost always get away with it, its clear that the police system is not built to protect people. This makes sense if you look at it's history, which starts with slave patrols. Taking part in such a system is wrong, no matter how good the person may otherwise be. We need to replace the white supremacist systems with good ones before anyone can claim to be a "good cop". This is not coming from sensationalized media. This is real life.
@darryl paynts I don't fight or yell at cops, and guess what, i have never been arrested. Sure i have done dumb shit like everyone else but its the way you handle the interaction that influences the result.
There are a LOT of nice cops, the media will pick a bad cop to display more often though. Like the media will blast an officer's name when he shoots a black man for any reason but will be silent when a random Detective gets hit in the head with an object while he is too busy focused on a crime scene. Oh and did i mention that the coward that attacked the Detective was black.
@darryl paynts A good quote that i heard is this. ''How can you tell if the cops shoot a black man?...The media will tell you.'' Meaning that the media will not mention race unless the victim is black.
When adults "talk to kids", you get more results. Kids will feel more comfortable when serious issues do arrise if the adults handle themselves and set the example in turn the minor will follow the example set. Cooperation will be more willing if a kid trusts you and knows that your not going to let things fly with the offending party but also being fair and consitant in discipline. Doing the opposite or nothing at all leads to mistrust and more disobediance. This is how any SRO should be with kids. The true safety of any campus must have the trust of especially the student body because when bad things do happen things won't be told or said either if there is no trust. This can sadly even turn deadly as what has been seen in recent major attacks. Our future depends on it.
This is what respect truly means. What a very nice gesture. It's obvious that officer Mitch means really a lot to them! Keep up the good work and you get what you deserve.

@763 SRO's are Police Officers. Some work for existing agencies such as municipal agencies or Sheriff Departments and are assigned to the School. Some Schools are big enough to have their own Police Dept and hire their own. So yes they are "cops" as you put it otherwise they would not be able to enforce state and federal laws and arrest people for violations of the law.

What you have done her is more important than you even know. I have tears in my eyes right now. Those that protect us need so much respect and love and you gave that to MIch. Many props to the students that can see that law enforcement is not your enemy. Some are actually great people.
@Marty To be fair. courts have already ruled cops have no duty to protect individuals(South v. Maryland, Bowers v. DeVito, Warren v. District of Columbia) so when you say they protect us, that is not entirely true. Cops are charged with enforcing the law, keeping general order and protecting government institution. So while you can have cops who do help people it's more about the individual then the actual job. You say law enforcement is not your enemy..well that depends..so what about when law enforcement was beating and jailing blacks for using the white entrance or when law enforcement was raiding homes of people suspected of being homosexuals? How about when law enforcement sent a SWAT team to a farm because they were selling raw milk to willing customers? Law enforcement may not be your enemy, but they aren't your friend either. They enforce the law regardless of the consequences or moral ethics. Some are great people, and some are awful people..the problem is one side thinks all cops are bad and the other side thinks all cops are heroes..i'm more in the "i don't trust anyone who has the authority to take my liberty or my life" So I don't judge the individual cop per se..i judge the institution they work for. Lastly, the functions I listed(enforce the law, keep general order, protect the government) are the SAME functions that law enforcement performs in Iran,Saudi Arabia,North Korea, China,Russia,Cuba...do you think the people in those countries worship their cops?

No, they really aren't. Not saying they are all corrupt, abusive and violent, but very few would give a person with disabilities any time or attention. I know this from 20 years as a community crisis worker, having seen hundreds of officers who could care less whether people are taken to hospital to get the help they need or put in jail. The worst thing though is the standard practice of covering for the bad apples. The "No Rats" philosophy among police is pervasive and for those who do report a colleague, there are severe consequences.

When a wall of cops assault a peaceful protest for a photo op, and not one objects to the crime, that's evidence. I could go on, but you can see the evidence that's right in front of you too.

This is one of the most beautifull things I have ever seen
And the Whitest school I have seen.

Marty Wise very well said
Marty Wise So true
Some are great people, and some are awful people..the problem is one side thinks all cops are bad and the other side thinks all cops are heroes..i'm more in the "i don't trust anyone who has the authority to take my liberty or my life"
So I don't judge the individual cop per se..i judge the institution they work for.
Lastly, the functions I listed(enforce the law, keep general order, protect the government) are the SAME functions that law enforcement performs in Iran,Saudi Arabia,North Korea, China,Russia,Cuba...do you think the people in those countries worship their cops?

He tried his best to never arrest us unless he really needed to I will never forget that.
Hahahaha. SIKE Most cops are not like this one bud.

This is straight positivity !!! Let’s take a moment to all be positive.
Right on bro.
I love this. MANY officers are like him and I hope they all get the recognition and love they deserve. Thanks for doing this.
Thanks for not beating us senseless mitch.
Yur a rare bird in the rotten apple pile.
Mixing metaphors here.
The way he looked at the girl when she was in trouble - my heart is melting, he's such a good guy
His first reaction once he step into the office was “stop shaking relax and gives her a pat” that’s how you know he a good person
Officers who work in the schools try not to really arrest students or fine them. Usually, They will talk with the student and try to get the message across. Somethings they do need to arrest or fine students for but often they will just talk to the student. They also assist with investigations or interviews related to students also. Usually, The officers that they get for these jobs are awesome and care about the students. You would be surprised how many students actually have arrest warrants or violate their probation which require them to arrest students also.
He put on his glasses as soon as he heard the yelling coz he was going to cry awe
To make high school students feel this caring, shows what a wonderful person Officer Mitch is. Thanks for all the officers that emulate good qualities.
dude man enough to cry...respect
This is just awesome. I know nothing about him, but i genuinely believe that he deserves it. Way to go!
Heritage High School, your students are amazing! God bless you all and Officer Mitch!
Justin Curtis thanks bro
thanks!!!!! PAT PRIDE
I go to heritage high and love it. thanks bro
This may be a fancy school but its still nice that they recocognize the value of an officer that is not out to get you but to help you. This is a well derserved recognition and an awesome job by the kids and staff in that school.
Let me clarify a lot of things:
1: The school is in NoCal, in a middle class city, and it is a good approx. 2 thousand students.
2: All this shit you see of mean cops are a minority. The media is fucked up to give cops bad publicity for drama.
3: Officer Mitch is the school SRO (Student Resource Officer). He is the only cop that patrols campus, and treats each student as an individual.
4: America has had cops on their school campuses for a long time now. It is a safety precaution, and if you have a cop like Mitch, he is a damn awesome staff member.
TheNerdyGeek Too many bad apples giving good cops like this guy a bad name. This guy is awesome.
TheNerdyGeek Brentwood is Not in No Cal. It is the west side of L.A. It's the area where OJ lived when killed his wife and Ron Goldman.
TheNerdyGeek. Well lucky for us you stepped up to clarify "ALL THESE THINGS " otherwise I truly doubt anyone would've understood this video . ON BEHALF OF ALL IGNORANT YOU TUBERS....THANK YOU !!!!
no shit sherlock really blaming the media? people know not all cops are bad
TheNerdyGeek ur an idiot
It's really nice to see these kids show their love and appreciation for this cop. I think it meant the world to him.
So cool that these young adults wanted to do this for this Officer.
I had a resource officer in middle and high school like this guy. They REALLY made a HUGE impact on my life. I will NEVER EVER forget them!!! I hope whenever they are I hope they are enjoying their life. We all thank you to those who keep our kids safe on campuses!!!
When the people you protect and serve, love you this much, you know you're doing it right. We need more officers like Mike, and more people like these students.
bruh write his name right its Mitch not Mike
@@firephantom1018 Eh, w/e. The sentiment is the same.
@@phant0mwolf421 Thank Christ you're not one of the Students 😂
Trust me there is many more cops like him it just doesn’t seem that way since the major news outlets controls what we see on tv and this is something they don’t want us to see. Kind of like how they don’t want you to know that only 2% of fatal cop shootings happens to unarmed black people. The media only divides us which leads to hate and misunderstanding of each other even though at the end of the day, no matter your skin color, no matter your religious beliefs, no matter your political beliefs, and no matter your sexual preferences, we will all still die and leave this world the same way, so we might as well make the best of it
@@lordspalse0062 What would officer Mitch say? It's ok!!
"What the world needs now is love" This kind of appreciation for COPs should go a very long way in healing the world as it stands now. God Bless the young people.
Absolutely a magnificent and humble man! A role model for all of us! Especially for other police officers and law enforcement! Listen up! Team Mitchell! Yesss! 😍
Lisa Gibson absolutely!!!!!
I am sobbing. I am older and what these high schoolers did Blew my Mind. A better generation...dealing with a fear...drills...terms that weren't in existence in my time. Thank God for Officer Mitch!! You all who did this...you Are awesome 🤗👍💜 and I pray every night for every person that walks through a school door everyday🙏
