      @@ElGringoSam el español y el portugués son lenguas similares. La diferencia es que el español tiene más hablantes que el portugués. El español tiene 489 millones y el portugués tiene 260 o 270 millones. El español es oficial en 20 países. 19 en América y el portugués en 8 o 9

      Well done! I can usually somewhat follow a Portuguese conversation, but these phrases without being able to read them really got me!🤣

      haha, es mas dificil que yo pensaba! Normalmente puedo seguir (mas o menos) una conversacion en portuges, pero con frases tipicas de Brazil, estoy completamente perdido! 🤣

    I've always heard that Spanish and Portuguese are basically identical, but I'm sure not seeing it. In fact, I wonder if Spanish is closer to Italian.
    BTW, what exactly is a gringo? Do you have to be white? Do you have to be American? Do you have to be a non-native Spanish speaker?

      So Spanish and Portuguese are both of Latin decent and follow a similar set of rules. With these colloquial phrases I am a bit more lost, but most Spanish speakers will be able to some-what follow a casual conversation.
      As far as I know, a Gringo can be anyone who is foreign to Central/South American countries.
