I wanna echo the ending statement. The A7C is a beast for mobile street photography. I like to just set my ISO and adjust shutter speed and aperture on the body/lens. Even without the pricey G pancake lenses there’s plenty of good older used options like my personal favourite the 35mm 2.8 Zeiss Sonnar. I find it to be a fantastic lightweight carry that has ultra fast auto focus with enough aperture to get some nice depth of field shots if you need as well. That camera+lens combo gets you better results than the RXII with much newer features
Still…. that Fuji X100V is so damn beautiful

The Ricoh GR line is truly pocketable and one of the most discreet cameras. I shoot with the GRIII and an X100v. If you asked me to decide between them, I am not sure I could. They have a fair amount of same use cases, but I also find they have enough differences that I have convinced myself to keep both. I usually put the GR III in my jacket pocket if I am headed out with friends and think I may see a random cool shot or something I want to capture. If I know I am headed out specifically to shoot I will grab the X100V and still sometimes throw the GR in a jacket.

All three cameras are amazing! I`ve personally owned the RX1 and RX1RII and currently own a Q2. For me the RX1 really inspired me to look at photography in an artistic way, and the RX1RII is to this day still my #1 camera. However some shortcomings of the RX1RII have become more and more unbearable for my shooting habits, especially the tiny batteries and total lack of weather sealing 🥲
I love the Q2 for its intuitive controls, great battery life and proper weather sealing, and the photos (even straight out of camera) are super sharp with great contrast and depth. And funny enough, with the rangefinder-like frame lines and 28mm FOV, the Q2 in 35mm crop mode is actually imo the better way to shoot 35mm. However, the gentle (not aggressively sharp like the Leica) but detailed look Sony has achieved with the RX1 series is still irreplaceable for me. Hopefully we get to see a mk3 some day ☺

I literally just bought the RXR II, and it’s by far my favorite camera I ever used, and I just came from using a Leica. With fast color calibration, I’m getting amazing Zeiss pop and color repro. The AF is fine for daily use. You just can’t beat the size to performance ratio. Great full frame compression, high resolution, and despite the battery life being limited, the batteries are dirt cheap and charge fast. I can’t wait to conduct a proper review when I have more sample photos. I have large hands, but adding a grip makes handling a breeze.

In terms of how it feels in your hands, I agree, 100% ... 110% but lets be realistic, the isn't what a camera is for. an old A7R3 with 35 2.8 Zeiss compact lens blows the Leica away in terms of capability, image quality, pure usability and it isn't physically any bigger.

  • @chanbob7869
    @chanbob7869 Год назад +2

People do want to find their dream cameras. As for me, the best camera is the one that you can pick and be ready shoot all the time at different scenarios. Bearing that in mind, a small and pocket-sized camera with high quality image(without post-pocessing) and different focal lengths with fast AF should probably be the best. My preference would be Q2>RX2>/ Fuji . The images of Q2 are very unique and strong in character.
I also have A7C and it is quite up to the above mentioned features but giving too many lenses to choose from sometime would be quite overwhelming. You always need to predict, expect and evaluate your journey, targets and theme of that day.
At the end of the day, may be choosing one of the cameras from the video may help us save more time and enjoy more when going out😅.

If you really love the Fuji workflow I'd recommend the X-E4. It is sort of the middle ground between 100V and A7C. You can get a super compact setup with the 27 2.8 pancake like the 100V, but with added benefit of interchangeable lens options. Having owned both X-E4 and A7C, you definitely have a slight image quality loss with APS-C vs Full Frame in certain situations - but I'm way happier using the Fuji since I'm confident I can get ready to post/use images quickly and can spend more of my energy focusing on shooting and enjoying the moment I'm actually trying to capture.

    • @JasonVong

a friend of mine had me try his GFX and i'm hooked! good thing it's higher price of entry is keeping me at bay! 🙈 Unfortunately as much as I'd love the Fuji's faster workflow, i'm not interested in investing in another interchangeable lens system at this time. That's why the X100V and the Q2 are so appealing to me. I get to sample of their best features without committing to their ecosystem.

Excellent review. I have a Q2, Sony A7Iii and a Fuji x20. Out of them all I agree that the Sony is the grab and go, with the 35mm f1.8 or the Sigma 24mm Contemporary for a more discreet unit. I chose the A7III over the A7C for its far better grip which adds nothing to its size with a lens fitted. All three of the cameras you tested are superb and will serve their owners well.

Every time I’ve gone a holiday I take my Sony A7sii with every intention of using it for something more interesting than real estate…..and I always end up using my phone. As someone that has owned all of these, I would say that none of them is the best EDC camera. After wading through all of these cameras I settled on either a Sony a7r3 with tiny Zeiss 35 2.8 or canon EOS RP with 50mm 1.8 ... they barely take anymore space and in some cases less space than any of these cameras and do everything these cameras do and more.

I looked them up here in Australia. The Sony is around 2.5x more expensive than the Fuji, and the Leica nearly 4.5x as expensive. And the Fuji isn’t cheap at $aus1969. Expensive fixed-lens cameras.

Woooot. Team A7c. All video I was like "is he gunna? is he gunna?" Then right at the end, got 'em!
The A7c + 35/2.8 ZA is just SO GOOD that I can't even glance at compacts, despite all three of these being super sexy. The Fuji is the only tempting one because it's *really* good for street photography. You can dial in all your settings as the shot approaches and that's much harder to do with the A7c. Plus those tasty tasty Fuji colors. I make sure not to try one out because once I pick that puppy up I'm probably going to leave the shop with it.
Fun review. And totally not biased towards Sony anywhere at all 🤓🤓

I had a chance to try both x100v and rx1r ii. the image quality of rx1r ii is superb, the size is amazing, and build quality is outstanding. on the other hand buffer size in continuous shooting is too small, I often missed nice shots because of this. Also autofocus is a bit slow and really depend on conditions. As it is mentioned in the video, in low light it not what you dream about. But the biggest disappointment for me was sony colors. I find it difficult to work with them in post.
So for me x100v remains the best edc overal. Buffer size is decent, autofocus is reliable no matter what the conditions are, and fuji colors are amazing. I do miss rx1r ii superb image quality, but as it turns out I’d rather have reliable overall package with decent image quality

IF I should have a compact Camera, then it should be REALLY pocket compact ! A full frame sensor, 60 megapixel, 35mm 2.8 in a design style like the first version Contax T or Minox 35 ML.

So true - in terms resale value at present - the X100V is insane. Friend of mine in London paid 1300 pounds new, used it for 18 months and resold it second hand for 1750 pounds. It sold in less than 24 hours on eBay. Chaching!! 😂 Btw, what did he spend it on? Fuji XE-3 with the 35mm f1.4, 60mm f2.4 quasi-macro and the wide 14mm for landscape - he is basically set to shoot anything as he cares not for telephoto. And the X100v funded the lot!!

@@JasonVong thanka for responding! Yeah Sony AF is next level. I finnaly made the switch from Nikon a few months ago. My first camera was a Sony A7 II, had that for a few months and an old photographer told me Sony wasn't what Pros used and that I should use Nikon or Canon. Being I was brand new I bought a Nikon Z6II, love that camera very much but when I tried to use it for sports or birding, it fell short. Thought it was my technique, so I tried and tried. Finally I discovered that the tracking focus just wasn't fast enough, and it had to do with the hardware in the camera being to slow. So I bought a Nikon d500 and bam I got great fast action shots like I always wanted. But I wanted full frame results. So I finally tried the Soby A9II and a 200-600 lens and wow 😳 what an experience. Tracking focus that locks on. No blackout. Game changer. Then I went all in on Sony, bought some great primes and just need to sell my old gear. I'm attached to Nikon in a way love the colors and the feel of the bodies, so I'll likely buy a used one for street, landscape and portraits

    Hi Sir,
Could you please advise me on whether to choose the Leica D-Lux 8 over the Fujifilm X100V in terms of picture quality, considering the differences in megapixels? Will I notice a significant difference? I primarily intend to use the camera for family photos, travel, hiking, and posting pictures of art paintings (I am artist) on Instagram and my portfolio. Therefore, portability is important. Perhaps is good to know I am a beginner. So, this will be my first Camara.
I have read that the lens of the Leica D-Lux 8 is superior, and some reviews suggest prioritizing the lens quality over megapixels, but I am unsure. I would appreciate your opinion on this matter. Additionally, do you have any other camera recommendations?
    Thank you for your support.

Just a small comment - You cannot list Sephia as a film emulation just live Velvia and others film emulations that you mentioned.
Sephia is a development process for BW paper that uses a chemical process that results in a brownish color.
It’s not even the film color but only the paper that you develop.
