I never understood why they left Starscream’s Decepticon insignias upside down in robot mode. The Decepticon insignia would have been unknown on Earth when they arrived. Therefore it could have been upside down on the jet with less consequence than as an exposed robot combatant.
RIP Chris Latta his voice is a major part of what made my favorite childhood cartoon awesome. The way he breathed life into the original Starscream is a big part of why the character is still going strong 40 years later.
Chris Latta/Collins was famously a jerk, very difficult to work with. It got him fired from King Koopa's Kool Kartoons (where he low-key threatened a kid on the air). He was also fired from The Simpsons after the first season, for the same reason. He did establish the Starscream and Cobra Commander voices, and his voice talents are undeniable. But I'm glad that a gracious guy like Frank ended up inheriting the voice of Starscream.
It's so damn cool that one of the G1 fans who grew up with the original show was able to fulfill his acting dream, and join the original cast members for a reread of the very first episode from '84! I also love Frank's nifty and fantastic homage to ol Starscream by having the Decepticon insignia on his blazer lapels upside down just like on 'Screamer's wings!! 😎
Frank wears his insignia lapel pins for himself as reminders when he looks down that he has been an OG Decpticon and always will be an OG Decepticon. His struggle between unmatched loyalty and great power is REAL!
@@alphatrion100 Yeah...um...you do know this was just a joke about Frank being OG regardless. It's not like a true military insignia reference for lapel pins worn. I was able to see the whole 7 minute 22 second video. Just sayin' sharp-eyed G1 Perceptor for the participation assist.
I find your dedication to humor, wit, and insightfulness appealing 💖. I loved Bumblebee. BTW my girl's soccer team gave out participation awards all the time and society suffers til this day.
Don’t know if it was intentional but his Decepticon pins are upside down just like Starscreams’, thats passion. He sounds pretty darn close to the OG. Really cool he was able to voice his favorite character from his childhood.
For me, Frank was the highlight of the Netflix War For Cybertron Trilogy series. Love how close to the spirit of Chris Latta he is in his performance. And he's a geek like us too! Always love hearing him talk about the voice acting trade.
But his character drastically shifted into more of Michael Dobson's Armada Starscream, but scared out of his mind after that "chat" with Unicron in the third season. I'd be terrified too if planet-sized robot Satan spoke to me saying that nothing that I alone can do to stop him.
He was one of the standouts for sure in the Cybertron Trilogy. When I first heard him...I thought that somehow shockingly Chris Latta came back to life.
Frank is a gem! He fits in with the OG1 cast seamlessly. And I will never not love his inverted lapel sigils! He IS Starscream, in an updated Pretender Shell, I'm convinced! 😅
This guy gets it! I love the amount of respect he shows to Mr. Latta and the fact that he actually referenced the Quintesson origin from "Five Faces of Darkness". It's also great to see Mr. Welker voicing his secondary characters like Rumble and Skywarp. I don't think I've ever seen him do those specific characters on camera. The master at work!
Good to hear his thoughts about his different great voice roles. He does a great job for a modern Starscream while keeping a higher pitch of the original classic voice by Chris Collins (Starscream, Cobra Commander).
No one manages to pull off Latta 1:1 outside of perhaps AI-boosted performances (a few did amazing jobs like Dr. Smoov, Tom Kenny or Scott McNeil in getting close, others sounded different, like a deeper version, but keeping the essence, like Steve Blum) but I really loved Frank's take on it and hope we get to hear more of his Screamer. What a likable guy, I wish him lots of success! Also loved him as Bugenhagen in FF7: Rebirth. This is one voice actor to look out for - yes, this is one to watch as well, seeing him perform in the 40th anniversary video was fun. He lives his roles!
So cool to see these guys voicing these characters I grew up with in the 80's. My Studio 86 Starscream is in the mail now and he'll stand right behind Megatron. Looking for his opportunity.
Starscream's voice is so unique despite it sounding different depending on the VA. Each version is golden in it's own way. Steve Blum will always have the perfect voice for Starscream IMO, but there's just something special about OG Screamer's sound that I have such a fondness for, and Todaro NAILS it.
As another who grew up with G1 and then as an adult from his 20s became a big character fan of Starscream, Frank is such a worthy and perfect choice to continue the legacy Chris Latta/Collins started.
Frank was the star of the table read for me. It's great to see Welker and Cullen et al, but Frank brought so much charisma to his performance. Loved it!
I really like the slightly softer quality Frank brings to Starscream. I love to see his take on the Coronation seen from the Movie. I'm guessing he's invoke a concerned almost grateful quality that Megatron still survives in some form before well...
His Decepticon insignias are upside down, his pocket piece matches Starscream wings colors, his jacket is Grey to match starscream jet mode Super cool Frank Todaro respect!!!

Did you just say no one remembers or likes the original Transformers? This video is literally celebrating the 40th anniversary of that show, the majority of Transformers fans still love the original show and have never forgotten it.
@@alumlovescake alright that’s my bad. He sounds incredibly similar to him though, that’s honestly pretty impressive. I agree with you now, he definitely deserves more recognition.
Spoiler alert: it's quite the intriguing plot point in Transformers One the movie to depict Starscream as having quite a commanding voice as the Leader of the Cybertronian Guard (or something), until D-16 beats him and damages his throat to depose him, causing Starscream to henceforth have that squeaking tone we all know and love. Wonder why the writers did that. To establish a deeper reason and significance for the subordinate role that Starscream plays to Megatron and explain why he's constantly trying to get (back) leadership of the Decepticons?
He's so hardcore Starscream, his lapel insignias are upside down. Love it.
And the color stripes of the kerchiefs in his pocket.
Because he can actually transform into a jet!
The real life Pretender Starscream. There’s a robot inside that man 😂
I thought someone would notice! So cool!!

Not to mention the voice of Cobra Commander as well.
Watching the 40th G1 table read (cinema showing) there were some sentences he nailed him 100% Latta. Really did a great job.

It's scary how much he sounds like Chris Latta, Starscream is actually tied with Knock Out for my favorite transformers character of all time.

Thank you.

Love his jacket with the upside down decepticon logos like starscream. Well played.
Watching this happening live, is too awesome, will love to see this live all the time side by side.

I never heard of him neither his Starscream voice and Im really impressed by his work he really sound like the late Chris Latta.
He embodies Starscream and i love it!!!
I'm glad someone this enthused took up the parts... but there's no replacement for Latta/Collins... or Welker for that matter
wow! he wears two glasses when he does voice work. He brings a new meaning to six eyes.
The score for the G1 Transformers is beyond EPIC.
While I appreciate the effort, his Wheeljack is nothing like the Original, but Starscream is "almost" identical...
Some people have voices that simply can't be imitated.
Thank you

He did the best at sounding like his G1 character out of all the replacement actors at the table read. ^^
